Anfield Overhaul? Klopp reveals Liverpool's transfer plan for 'new players'; confirms he 'wants' to work with existing squad

According to the media, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is planning a major squad 'overhaul' during the upcoming transfer window, but is this really true?

Apparently not. In his post-Newcastle press conference on Sunday evening, a journalist asked Klopp the following question:

"Will you bring in new players in January?"

In response, Klopp expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a winter break in English football, then added:

"Because of no winter break, I hope we won’t buy new players because it’s not a market for late decisions. I want to work with this team, if it’s okay with you".

'If it's okay with you'. I love it :-)

This response seems pretty emphatic, but even if Liverpool are planning to buy in January, it's unlikely that Klopp will admit anything in public.

It may also be the case that upon signing for club, FSG told Klopp that he'd have to work with the current squad for the rest of the season, and given the £300m spent under Brendan Rodgers, that's absolutely fair enough (IMO).

That said, as the old saying goes, 'you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear' 'you can't make a Luis Suarez out of an Andy Carroll'. Klopp can spend ten years working with the likes of Adam Lallana but it won't make any difference.

The upcoming Christmas period will be massive test for Klopp, who is used to a winter break in Germany. He's never had to manage such a packed fixture schedule, so it'll be interesting to see the impact of forced rotation, and reduced recovery times.
