Carra blasts: After Klopp 'shock', Liverpool need massive transfer overhaul and must sign 4 new players

After Sunday's humbling at the hands of Watford, Reds legend Jamie Carragher has slammed Liverpool's soft-centered squad, and urged Jurgen Klopp to make wholesale changes during the January transfer window.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Monday, Carra described the results against Watford and Newcastle as a 'major shock', and blasted the current squad for failing to 'cope physically with the Premier League'.

Carra also insisted that Klopp needs to make big changes during the upcoming transfer window, and highlighted the following positions as a priority:

"Liverpool haven’t got the players to cope...so [they need] a Goalkeeper, two centre backs and a holding midfield player".

Add to that two new full-backs, two attacking wide-players; another attacking midfielder; a midfield playmaker, and at least two new strikers, and Liverpool might be in a position to consistently challenge for the Champions League and/or the League title (!)

The spine of the team needs to improve, but Liverpool's immediate transfer priorities are (arguably) as follows:

* Attacking Midfielders: At least two, and both need to have a prolific history of scoring/creating goals, and the ability to provide genuine width. My choices: Yarmolenko and Ayew.

* Striker: A prolific, proven, mobile striker to come in and take the number-one striker slot. Possibilities: Aubemeyang: Unlikely, but his history with Klopp is a major advantage for Liverpool. Lacazette: quieter this season, but still a top option.

* Goalkeeper: Mignolet needs to be replaced! Anyone with any sense can see that, and the sooner Liverpool have a commanding presence between the sticks, the better. My choices: Horn, ter Stegen.

In my view, Liverpool can survive till the summer in midfield and defence. A commanding goalkeeper will make all the difference at the back, and that has to be the first priority.

What are Liverpool's transfer priorities in January?
