Bad News: Klopp confirms 'sensational' £30m Liverpool attacker suffered new 'hamstring' injury

With the recent return of Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool's injury crisis appeared to be easing, but ahead of the weekend's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed yet another injury to one of the club's key players.

Many (including myself) presumed that Klopp merely rested Phillipe Coutinho for the Rubin Kazan game, but it appears that the Brazilian is carrying an injury,

In his post-match press conference tonight, Klopp told reporters:

"We had...Philippe Coutinho with some problems so [he was] on the bench. Coutinho had a little bit of a hamstring".

It seems a tad irresponsible to to put 'sensational' Coutinho on the bench when he's carrying a hamstring niggle, and it suggests that Klopp was prepared to use him if necessary.

Thankfully, Coutinho wasn't needed, and with the extra rest, he'll hopefully be ready for this Sunday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

That said, perhaps it's best to leave £30m-rated Coutinho on the bench again and allow the hamstring issue to clear up completely?

The Reds have plenty of options in his position, and Joao Carlos Teixeira deserves another chance to stake his claim.

There's no point rushing Coutinho back and potentially exacerbating the issue, though if that does happen, he'll have the entire international break to recover.

Team I'd like to see for Crystal Palace:

-------------- Bogdan

Clyne --- Skrtel - Sakho ---- Moreno

---------- Lucas - Milner

-- Ibe ----- Teixeira --- Firmino

------------- Benteke
