'Klopp is crazy about me': €32m playmaker confirms Liverpool 'want' him. 'Offer' made already

Liverpool are currently linked with an improbable move for 'exciting' Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, but is there any chance of a deal being concluded?

Over the weekend, Italian newspaper Gazetta Dello Sport claimed

* Marchisio is allegedly on Klopp's transfer wish-list.

* The Reds are planning to make a €32m January bid for the 29-year old midfielder.

When asked today about Liverpool's interest, Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that the Reds submitted an offer:

"32 million offer from England for Marchisio? We've received many offers, and not only from Liverpool; we have received several offers [from other clubs".

The question is, when was Liverpool's offer submitted?

The Reds were linked with Marchisio during Brendan Rodgers' reign, so it's probable that the offer was submitted on his watch.

Klopp has only been at the club for 10 days, and I sincerely doubt that Liverpool have put in a bid during that time. As such, it's highly probable that Marotta is referring to an offer places over the summer.

It remains to be seen whether Marchisio remains a transfer target under Jurgen Klopp, but it's all moot anyway ad he is not interested in moving.

Responding to the Liverpool rumours today, he told Sportmediaset:

"Klopp is crazy about me and wants me at Liverpool? I do not care, I just signed a contract with Juventus".

This response is hardly surprising.

Like Steven Gerrard, Marchisio is the archetypal one club man. he came through the youth ranks at Juve, and has spent his entire senior career at the club.

Additionally, there's no incentive for Marchisio to quit Serie A for Liverpool. Unlike the Reds, Juve are in the Champions League every season, and the club has won four league titles in a row.

Who'd want to leave that for a club that hasn't won the league in 26 years, and rarely qualifies for the Champions League?

Even with Jurgen Klopp in charge, it's a hard sell.
