Liverpool lineup vs. Carlisle: Forgotten man returns? Drop £41m 'genius'? Surprise start for Bogdan? (PREDICTION LEAGUE)

After FIVE games without a win now, Liverpool desperately to get a positive result on Wednesday, and at face value, League Tow outfit Carlisle United appears to be the perfect game to get back to winning ways. With the greatest respect to Carlisle, Liverpool should be winning games like this 6-0, and anything but an emphatic, dominant victory will not be acceptable (IMO).

A few points:

* Ings has to start this game. He scored at the weekend, and played well overall, so there's no reason he should be dropped, even for Sturridge.

* Origi should come back into the team and play alongside Ings. If the Belgian can bag a goal or two in front of a home crowd, it'll be great for his confidence, and good for the team overall, especially with Benteke likely to be out for a while.

* There's an argument for Dejan Lovren being given a run out, but what happens if he has an absolutely fantastic game? It'll then be unfair to drop him for Saturday, just as it'll be unfair to drop Sakho after his performance against Norwich.

* In my view, it's better to keep the Skrtel/Sakho axis - they need games together to build their partnership, and Sakho has only played one game this season, so he doesn't need to be rested.

* Joe Allen is back in training, so there's a possibility he may feature in the game.

* Carlisle is an ideal game for Rossiter to get some more experienced, probably at the expense of Lucas.

* Ditto Jordon Ibe, who has disappointed this season. He needs a goal (or an assist) to jump-start his confidence, and the hope is that - if played - Rodgers will not waste him at right wing-back.

* Adam Bogdan surely has to start this game? If Mignolet starts again, it'll be an absolute disgrace, especially after the Belgian's mistakes in the last few games. If Bogdan doesn't start against League Two opposition, when exactly is he supposed to start?

* Sturridge should definitely *not* start this game (IMO). It's too risky, and Liverpool don't need him to win the game.

If Rodgers sticks with 3412:

------------------ Bogdan

------ Gomez ----- Skrtel ----- Sakho

Can ------- Rossiter -- Allen ------ Moreno

------------------ Firmino

-------------- Ings ---- Origi

* The big problem here is right wing-back. Liverpool have no one in the squad who's capable of playing that role as effectively as Moreno on the left.

* Can has played as a right sided central defender for LFC, so in my view, he's best suited to the role. Clyne is another option, but he no great shakes going forward, which is why Rodgers will probably go with Ibe in that role yet again.

* £41m-rated Coutinho should sit this game out. The - genius attacker had a poor game against Norwich, and Firmino look lively when he came on at the weekend. If the Brazilian can get a goal/assist, it'll stand him in good stead for Saturday's vital game against Villa.
