In June, Spanish newspaper AS claimed that Liverpool had contacted Real Madrid to enquire about the possibility of signing speedy winger Denis Cheryshev, and with Robert Firmino already in the bag, reports this weekend suggest that the Reds are taking concrete steps to sign the Russian attacker.
According to The Mirror on Saturday:
* Liverpool have submitted a £22m bid for Cheryshev, which Real Madrid are actively 'considering'
* Rafa Benitez is willing to cash-in, and plans to discuss the matter with his bosses at the Bernebeu'.
Some info about Cheryshev:
* Left-winger, who spent last season on loan at Villareal.
* Missed the end of the season with a hamstring injury.
* 5 injuries in the last two years: 3x hamstring, plus a serious muscle injury (out for 122 days), and a fractured toe.
* 39 games missed through in injury in the last two seasons.
* Made only one senior appearance for Madrid before being farmed out on loan.
* 2014-15: 7 goals/11 assists in 40 games for Villareal (Goal/assist every 2.2 games)
* 7 apps for the Russia national team.
* According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo: "Cheryshev is powerful, super-fast, and is one of Villareal's most dangerous attackers".
When asked in early-April about whether he'd return to Madrid next season, Cheryshev told Marca:
"Real Madrid haven’t told me anything about coming back yet. The only thing I want to do is play football. Right now I feel very well and after the pre-season tour of Australia, we'll see what will happen"
Cheryshev's goals/assists ratio is only slightly better than Sterling's, and his recent injury history is a massive concern; The last thing Liverpool need is another player who regularly suffers niggling injury issues.
It may all be moot, though, as Cheryshev wants to stay at Villareal, and he confirmed this in March, when he told reporters:
"If everybody involved reaches an agreement I'd be delighted to stay at Villarreal. Here people have always shown me kindness and I'd like to continue to repay that with my efforts and my performances."
In May, Villareal vice-president Jose Manuel Llaneza also confirmed that the club want to keep Cheryshev:
"We want to have Denis Cheryshev on loan for another season he is a phenomenon, and Villarreal will make an effort to get that done but the outcome is uncertain".
With Firmino now on board, the need for another attacking midfield is seemingly less pressing, though it all depends on how Rodgers plans to deploy the Brazilian. Is he a replacement for Sterling, or Luis Suarez?
If it's the latter, and Firmino is played up-front - or as a so-called 'false 9', then Liverpool (arguably) still need another wide player. Jordon Ibe is inexperienced, and Lazar Markovic has shown nothing so far to suggest that he's going to come good.
With Cheryshev, Liverpool's forward line could look like this:
---- Firmino -------- Coutinho -------- Cheryshev
--------------------- Sturridge
If Liverpool are genuinely seeking another attacking midfielder, then Andriy Yarmolenko remains my preferred choice, and I can't understand why Liverpool are not pulling out all the stops to sign the consistently prolific attacker, who recently confirmed that he wants to 'change club's this summer.

ReplyDeletenot good enough
ReplyDeleteIf we pi$$ 22 mill of out 45 mill from sterling on this guy, who nobody wants, and send out Ibe on loan, then we are officialslly clueless. Just make it simple and go and buy laszzcane (wrong spelling) and Reus. It's not rocket science. Why make it so complicated lfc 😒
ReplyDeletewhy not Kono if you want to buy another winger. He is a terrific free kick specialis ,which we dont have yet and he is for FREEEEE.Why pay 22million for an unknwn speedy winger
ReplyDeleteI don´t know how this 22m fee comes up.
ReplyDeletethis guy is never going to be playing for RM and has been shipped out for loan the last 2 seasons, failed to make a impact on his first loan.
i don´t think anyone else is trying to buy this guy, a normal fee for him should be around 5m or so. I he should fail in the premier league there wont be any resale value on this guy. for 20m+ we can buy a top quality player,,, Yarmolenko for 15m, could have had konoplyanka for free.
If there is any truth in this rumor the transfer committee should be sacked ASAP. would be the biggest money waste since AC.
Lacazette won`t come to Anfield unless we offer a ridiculous amount of money for him, then we would have to pay him a sizable wage too, so i can`t see him here anytime soon. I think we should try putting a cheeky bid in for Chicarito who would be a upgrade on all our forwards with the exception of Sturridge when fit that is, so Hernandez and maybe Gary Mendel the Chilean dm, would be a perfect transfer window for us considering we have no Champions league football.
ReplyDeleteif LFC spend 22 million on this player who is 25 and only has played one full season in 1st team football im done with Rodgers and his transfers. if we buy this guy and dont spend the money on Yarmolenko, Son Heung Min or Pedro then we hae lost our marbles. Son Heung Min scored 5 goals in the champions league in 8 games and has 50 goals in bundesliga. hes a top fast suitable player in our system and comes with goals. the same goes for yarmolenko.
ReplyDeletepersonally unless its a true worldie, we dont really need a Yarmolenko or Son Heung Min unless we play them up front. and Jaimie stop including Sturridge in your starting 11s. i know hes a part of the team but hes never fit and wont even be fit for the start so its pointless imagining a team with a player who is never fit. if he was fit for the start then fair enough because Studge is a top talent, but he needs to man up, he gets paid alot and were suffereing without him
Stupid. Just stupid. How many times must we do this? £22M for a reject. A loan player. Pathetic. This would be a signing that will absolutely prove that Rodgers must be sacked sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteI think the little pea has lost his spark of 2/3 years back... I know what you mean about lacazette. We can dream tho
ReplyDeleteIt's not the transfer committee, it's Rodgers. He got all his wishes this summer, he is the guy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe because he's signed for Sevilla
ReplyDeleteCheryshev is a top player. Very quick and an assist machine. Saying he's not good enough is just rubbish.
ReplyDeletePure rumor in silly season. Sterling will be sold and we will.purchase Benteke, just watch.
ReplyDeleteThen we will waste the 45 million quid on squad players who can't make the bench. Typical Rodger's signings.
ReplyDeleteWe're scrood
ReplyDeleteSorry but Markovic mark 2
ReplyDeleteHence why it should have been Klopp the guy.
ReplyDeleteIf we spend another hat full of money and end up still sacking BR, will the new guy replacing him get the same £200-£300m to spend from FSG - my fear is not!
So offer up the money.
ReplyDeleteAnd while we're at it go get Carvalho. Only then will be credible title contenders.
we bought Markovic for £20M, i could see Liverpool paying that much for a player no other team is looking at.
ReplyDeleteIt makes no sense to send out Ibe on loan and to pay uber amounts for a more expensive Markovic mistake..
ReplyDeleteIf this rumour turns into reality BR is no longer clueless but certified insane.
Andriy Yarmolenko > Denis Cheryshev :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing the player we are currently linked with i hope it's just paper talk otherwise we are in for another season of mediocrity, anyway either we have a good season or Rodgers is fired (surely if we fail again the media wont keep protecting him) so i guess there will be positive to take from it.
ReplyDeleteI watch virtually every Real Madrid game and there's a reason why this chap never plays - nowhere near good enough. Might just as well waste thirty on Llorente - in fact, Rodgers probably will. When you can't have the real thing you can never get enough of the substitute.
ReplyDeleteBasically a really expensive Luis Alberto. Its criminal the money that is wasted at this club.
ReplyDeleteJordon Ibe MUST NEVER BE LOANED OUT AGAIN - better than this injury prone geezer
ReplyDeleteWho the hell is this speedster Liverpool are chasing, the long and short of it all is to sack Brenden Recovers because he doesn't have an eye to quality first team players, he is always going for the mass good for nothing average squad players to come and waste LFC money. Use all the £45m from Sterling's sale and go buy Marco Reus as soon as possible
ReplyDeleteIf we must bid for this guy then £8 million more than enough - If we bid over £20 million B R should be sacked ON THE SPOT TODAY
ReplyDeleteNot even that. Markovic at least has potential going for him. This guy seems to have already found his level, despite being so young...
ReplyDeleteHow?
ReplyDeleteWell he's almost 25, only played 30 matches in 3 years at the top level, and hasn't even been that productive. Especially at 22M, not even close to worth it. He's basically Luis Alberto except from Real, albeit slightly better but also older.
ReplyDeletejust get Yarmolenko, he's got it all
ReplyDeleteThe Echo are reporting there is currently no interest in Cheryshev
ReplyDeleteCan't see any truth in this. Would have thought more than one source would have got wind of an official bid
ReplyDeleteWe failed to have a replacement for Suarez and now we will fail to have a replacement for Sterling too.
ReplyDeleteI'll appreciate the effort, but no thanks.
ReplyDeleteDoes Sterling even need replacing?
ReplyDeleteYES!
ReplyDeleteI think we've got enough attacking wide players, strikers & a DM is where the cash should go
ReplyDelete£49m fee agreed according to mirror. Happy days
ReplyDeleteSo happy, its time he left.
ReplyDeleteI meant replace with IBe;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the news of the year.
ReplyDeleteIt is but only if you're a City fan
ReplyDeleteOoooh I don't think so;)
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling particularly electric now and you'd see posters of SG all over my room
Sterling makes his quick run through defenders to create crosses and passes for Suarez in 2013-2014 season. Last season he seemed like purposely missed to score. He was a good player for us, once. Perhaps we need a pacy player like him once he's gone.
ReplyDeleteWell we can only hope that the money is spent as wisely as the Suarez money was.......what could possibly go wrong ;-/
ReplyDeleteJust think a class DM & a striker are more pressing concerns
ReplyDeleteI get it now...yes tbh I share your concern of ruining the money with some silly and unnecessary purchases...well Stu this might be helpful, we have already spent a big chunk of that on Firmino;) feeling better?
ReplyDeleteBig difference though... Raheem is replaceable (*cough* IBE *cough) :D
ReplyDeleteInsane amount of money but good business for us . However he was box office and was an attraction for the neutral supporters and we have to replace that .Hope we don't repeat past mistakes and this time spend the money wisely ! Won't hold my breath tho and hope we now don't waste it going after Benteke ....
ReplyDeleteEnter Benteke :-o
ReplyDeletegod no
ReplyDeleteThat is the problem, it is going to be Benteke as he is the striker we are showing interest in.
ReplyDeleteI really hope so but from what I have seen he still needs more time This year coud be difficult for him after his breakthrough as teams find him out a little. I think there were signs of this last year.
ReplyDeleteGood move, mainly for LFC. We signed him for £500k, owe QPR 25% so we are looking at +- £38m profit. Now that is how one does business.
ReplyDeleteHe played for Villareal. No wonder you thought he was invisible.
ReplyDeleteBoz office? Not chance mate.
ReplyDelete49M is fantastic, now for Benteke and Cheryshev for a combined totsl of 52M. Great.
ReplyDeleteI'm just awaiting his open letter to the fans on how he never wanted to leave & the club forced him out.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt another of Rodgers's obsessions ... just hope LVG outbids us !
ReplyDeleteHappy days for Raheem and his 900k per week
ReplyDeleteDepends if you want to make a profit or win things .....and of course the profit will be misspent (probably)
ReplyDeleteI love that most City fans are disgusted that their club are buying Sterling, let alone paying 49mil for him
ReplyDeleteYou might as well give the money to a Sailor on shore leave after a particularly long tour of duty.
ReplyDeleteIs that before or after the laughing gas ?
ReplyDeleteCan't understand it really. For £32.5m we can go find a player suited to pass and move.
ReplyDeleteCoutinho and Firmino are going to be running circles around Benteke. We need someone who can in the mould of Suarez. Now is the time to test Lyon and whether they are willing to sell Lacazette. Unfortunately I cannot see us pulling off such a smart move.
I don't think he will be looking backwards.
ReplyDeleteYeah that is the case but I am referring to the outlay and the gain. If only we were not so inept at spending £20m on Markovic, £25m on Lallana and £20m on Lovren.
ReplyDeleteWe suck in the end.
To be perfectly honest again I don't know how good he is or whether he will settle in the UK and in the EPL but I hope in a year's time it is his pictures on your walls ;-)
ReplyDeleteSterling can actually develop into a very, very good player but only with the right guidance and clearly something has happened at LFC whether it be that he does not want to play for Rodgers, wants to win trophies, after money or whatever the case may be plus his idiotic agent.
ReplyDeleteI am gobsmacked that City pulled the trigger...
Thanks but no thanks .…..we have just fleeced city out of 49m let's not blow it on a mediocre overpriced Mr glass
ReplyDeleteWe are already loaded with attacking players yet we are have been ignoring the fact that we need a midfield general for how long?
ReplyDeleteI no doubt that he could develop into a very good player but I suspect he wont.
ReplyDeleteFor him to do that he will need to play games and when you look at Man City's squad I do not see him getting much game time as there are far better and more accomplished players in those positions then sterling.
I also do not think he has the attitude needed to get to the top.
I rather suspect that he will end up like SWP.
Lucas Ocampos would be my preference
ReplyDeleteLadies beat Arse 3-1 (should I re-phrase that.)
ReplyDeleteI agree, but why don't we go sudden all out for Lacazette just like we did for Firminho? There's no harm in trying.. We just have to make him feel wanted thats all. We missed out on Miktharian, Willian, Depay etc because of draging(and screwing up) the negotiations
ReplyDeleteLet's finish above City then.
ReplyDeleteLacazette!!!!.
ReplyDeleteWithout a top striker those signings are almost meaningless!
ReplyDeleteNo worries!!...................relax and watch what happens now.
ReplyDelete36 Million Pound + $million ( add ons ) = 40 million .
ReplyDeleteMore than enough for a lacazzate or Aubamayeng . Yes we arent in the champions league but after firmino , i'm somehow optimistic .
:-)...................correct.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope your optimism bears fruit.
ReplyDeleteAnd that it's not a raspberry
ReplyDeleteUnderstood, but then utd are also sniffing around Benteke. If they get him, then I believe our season is already over.
ReplyDeleteLets not waste the money and sign our most important player of this window - Lacazette!!
ReplyDeleteWe need a marquee signing and one that fits our style and philosophy and Lacazette would be the perfect fit!
How much money has those two waisted since BR came in??? If you were a bank will you give them a loan after looking at their credit report??
ReplyDeleteSterling is not worth anywhere near that amount - well done LFC
ReplyDeleteWe were sniffing around Depay, they were sniffing around Firminho in the end the team which wamted the player most got em..
ReplyDeleteMain thing I think everyone agrees on is NOT TO WASTE the money like we did with the Suarez transfer.
ReplyDeleteConcur need to splash the cash on top quality, and for me that would be:
#1 Carvalho
#2 Lacazette
My Ayre - you now know your mission impossible should you want to proceed - and this message WILL NOT SELF DESTRUCT...
BR has made mistakes BUT in his transfer dealings he has probably only spent £30 million net Sales - purchases AND the LFC average age is now 5 years younger.NOBODY EVER MENTIONS THIIS
ReplyDeleteBut if you count Allen and Borini in your calculations - then you've already lost the argument ;-)
ReplyDeleteLet's finish above all!
ReplyDeleteI think we will ATTEMPT to sign Pedro, Lacazette or Reus but we will end up with either Benteke or Cheryshev.
ReplyDeleteA lot of it has to do with the system Rodgers deployed rather than the players brought in. You can't honestly say that all the players brought in are terrible. Lovern and Balotelli I would consider an utter failure. Lambert I don't think was really given the right support and system to work in. Markovic, Can, Moreno are all young and will continue to improve. The previous year you can say was an utter failure other than Mignolet with Alberto, Aspas and Moses on loan with failures to bring in anyone of real note. The business this year seems to be moving right along and most importantly in the right direction. With Rodgers seemingly less influential it looks like Ayre is getting the job done.
ReplyDeletei still cannot believe schweinsteiger agreed to join utd.. :(
ReplyDeletewe need to bring in quality over quantity like our rivals!
ReplyDeleteIf it is, let's make a lemonade. Goes well with square pegs and round holes.
ReplyDeleteand for 15 million.. ? really.. ?
ReplyDeleteBargain isn't it? We need to up our game.
ReplyDeleteyes now please spill more than half the amount of cheryshev or whats-his-face..
ReplyDeleteHasn't the money effectively already been spent on Firmino and Clyne.
ReplyDeleteI get extremely pissed when the Premier league is touted as the "everything' in modern day football..The stats are there for you to follow diligently...In summation the best league in the World is the Spanish la liga! period....and that is why the league produces the best teams, players, coaches consistently.....
ReplyDeleteConcerning the Comparison, do you think that these teams that requested for the services of Henandez are inept...?? The player "Hernandez" is fast, quick,is a proven finisher and has all the attributes we need in a striker...He is not selfish and doesn't need the spotlight. He goes into the field and does his job ...Simple... Sturrigde in my own view will be a prized possession for a mid table team ...
If the truth must be told ...he is far more better than sturridge 110%...IMO
Thats always the worst... Ego's can be massaged...
ReplyDeleteearlier there was talk that the business we will do in this window does not depend on sterling's sale.. so i would guess not.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Sterling plus 40 mill.
ReplyDeleteFirmino is hands down the better player tho
ReplyDeleteAll sales plus that..
ReplyDeleteOk so lets hope this is extra cash then.
ReplyDeleteSterling £49m, Coates £4m, Aspas £4.5m, plus players out on-loan.........................FSG are yet to spend club money this summer...............there is more to come.
ReplyDeleteim sure there is.. but im not too sure we will spend it wisely..
ReplyDeleteBalotelli in a swap for Mario Gomez too???............................good deal.
ReplyDeletechelsea are making a 20 million pound bid for pedro.. im not desperate for liverpool to sign him but the fact that we will have to spend an extra 10 to 15 million for the very same player is bugging me to no end..
ReplyDeleteCarvalho, Lacazette and a replacement winger - I'd be happy with that.
ReplyDeleteHope sterling has a good pair of tweezers to remove the splinters from his ass at City, 49m is great business, we screwed City to the max :)
ReplyDeletei just dont get us... over the (recent ) past we have gone after quality players like costa, willian, sanchez, etc which was an encouraging sign.. i know that a few of them rejected us but atleast some of them were within our reach.. we fail there and we sign a very average player for a bonkers amount.. why ?
ReplyDeleteRS...36m (see above) Firm........29m
ReplyDeleteSC....4m Clyne......12.5m
IA.....4.5m Ings...........6m ish
Gomez.....3.5m
IN.....44.5m OUT......51m
Like I said in my earlier statement I am concerned. Whatever the reason was it was an utter failure!!!
ReplyDeletePlus the wages saved!!!.
ReplyDeleteI don't whether to laugh or not... I can't believe they actually got £49m for a child..... I almost hope he doesn't choke on that fee next season, becuase as much as I don't like how all this came about, I do think he could be a good little footballer in a couple of years..... If he does choke, I am going to place a bet on WBA being his next club.
ReplyDeleteI believe the literal translation of his name is 'pig mounter'. Should fit in perfectly over there at Utd.
ReplyDeleteWith the best part of two months of the transfer window to go, and a pocket full of change, I don't see any reason to get overly concerned about a striker just yet.
ReplyDeleteWe looking at plums at the moment, love a nice tart myself.
ReplyDeleteI do a nice line in wedding or funeral, but will allow them to be used for house parties aswell..... Nice sizes and competitive prices....
ReplyDeletebut he is one of the most talented, respected and universally beloved players of his generation.. which is why his choice to join man utd is all the more puzzling to me..
ReplyDeleteA nice pair of melons will do.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope he doesn't end up F....ing us up the A..se
ReplyDeleteYou're forgetting about sign on fees which do also add up
ReplyDeleteBu da ba booom!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling the players coming in will want to be paid.
ReplyDeleteHe is going there because he knows regardless of whether or not he plays, they will pay him obscene wages anyway, unlike Bayern.
ReplyDeleteWages from SG and GL will pay Milner, Ings, Gomez and Bogdan.
ReplyDelete:-)
ReplyDeleteIn a way it is sad to lose a good player, but, we can live without him.
ReplyDeleteCertainly not a sour lemon like last season :)
ReplyDeleteWho remembers pineapple head Jason Lee?
a 20% sell-on clause is normal not ridiculous
ReplyDeleteI want him to fail badly at Man City... Mean. I know. But true. Also true: He is most likely going to be the best British player in the next 10 years
ReplyDeletenever really pegged him for a money grabber but i cant be sure about it.. but what i am sure is that there must have been the issue of reduced playing time in a very crowded bayern midfield which led to this decision..
ReplyDeleteIt will be splashed on Benteke. You know it. I know it. The entire fan base knows it except the deluded who think we will land Reus or the French chap...neither of whom will go to a non-CL club. Reus can have a good season at Dortmund and go to a top CL team in January or next Summer. BE will hang his hat on Benteke and it will either come good or BE his undoing...
ReplyDeletepLEASe not BEnteke...Suarez cost us far less and we all remember his impact at liverpool...we need strikers with good technical abilities and we don't need a sit tight striker... we need players that can drop into midfield positions create spaces and convert chances....Please not Benteke....please don't buy Benteke....
ReplyDeleteAs for sterling let him enjoy...the club is still bigger than any player....so i don't see the issue with him going ....also note that the club is bigger than any coach ...so i don't see the issue with Rodgers Going...
Making 36 million on a player that cost 500k,, how exactly is that bad business and how does that lead you to think we have been fleeced. Also the latest reports suggest a 49 million pound sale which would mean we get more than 36 million for a player who doesn't want to be at LFC, I think it's great business, I think we all know the sooner he was sold the better, biggest concern now is how the money is spent. A good respected reliable striker is what is needed now, please BR invest all the proceeds on one (but not Benteke)
ReplyDeleteHe will not go to a non-CL team...why do people keep bringing him up?
ReplyDeleteRight now, Sterling loves this, and as I'm sure, 90% of fans do too.
ReplyDeleteBut, mark my words, this will slowly but steadily backfire for one or the other, maybe even both.
U said it, "of his generation
ReplyDeleteI don't know that of him either, but he is signing for utd, so he fair game when it comes to slagging him off.
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify the figures, if as stated the transfer is £45m plus add ons, then:
ReplyDeleteQPR get £9m - 20%
Agent gets £4.5m -10%
Meaning LFC get £31.5m.
The agent will also get from City a further 10% of the contract value.
And apparently Sterling gets 50% of the combined fees of the agent.
Does this constitute child labour and could LFC be done for human rights ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo
ReplyDeleteYou realize that we only pocket 36 mil and that has already been spent on Firmino and Inges, right? Poster did the math above. In total we are just about 5 mil ahead with in and out. Let's see what they pony up. Next signing will tell. If a winger than Firmino will play a false 9, if a striker, than he goes wide.
ReplyDeleteCoates £2m
ReplyDeleteNot sure you've got your facts right re: agents fee. The agents fee has nothing to do with the fee City pay us.
ReplyDeleteAnd that will be a bad outcome
ReplyDeleteSo who pays the 10% agent fee?
ReplyDeleteOur striker list should be
ReplyDelete1. Lacazette
2. Aubameyang
3. Icardi
4. Benteke
That being said it is not unusual for clubs to end up with 4/5th choice players.
The agent gets a cut (not sure of percentages) of the signing on fee and contract value. I don't believe the selling club give the agents anything.
ReplyDeleteOr a gooseberry. We've had plenty of them over the years
ReplyDeleteBerahino is a better fit than Benteke.
ReplyDeleteWe've still got Logan
ReplyDeleteThe player.
ReplyDeleteLiverpool Echo said £4m.
ReplyDeleteI fear activating Benteke's release clause is exactly what will happen.
ReplyDeleteBenteke's a decent player and it's not that I'm adverse to him being the
We will announce the signing of Benteke within a week!!! I don't know how I feel about that, but time will tell... If you thought AV was holding the 32m over our head then, it's definitely going nowhere now!!!
ReplyDeleteA 20% sell on fee for a 15 yr old is actually incredibly common. That's the only way selling clubs can hope to make any serious money on their young prospects. The only other option is to fork out millions for a player who may never make it.
ReplyDeleteFirmino cost 22mill with a further 7mill in add-ons
ReplyDeleteThis is just a rough estimate to say we are not quids in yet and any new signings will come from the summer budget or sales.
ReplyDeleteRS sale includes 5m add ons we don't get yet, according to JK.
ReplyDeleteGood business, can't help but think he will indeed turn out to be a great player though. His heads not been on for us over the last season, if he develops the discipline he will become a world beater. I hope the money classless atmosphere of man city lead him to be a flop, it's a shame, he could of been our modern day John Barnes but unfortunately he doesn't seem to be the brightest tool in the box so went for the 'want it all now' attitude. I hope this gives Jordan Ibe the extra push to fulfill his potential with us and show Sterling up and take us to the next level.
ReplyDeleteI regards to all the talk about not playing players in the right position if we look at last season as a season of trying to fit a load of new players into a team I don't think getting them used to being able to play in many different positions in the long run will do us any harm. Once we have a consistent starting 11 playing fluid football all the bits of experience the players had in different positions could potentially make us excellent as all players could interchange rapidly thus making the opponents with a lot of thinking top do in regards to how they tactically set up against us,
Basically i'm thinking along the lines of unpredictable total football!
if thats the case sterling should be 39 mill
ReplyDeleteIndeed, he has alreasy attained his own classification - the Loganberry.
ReplyDeleteWhat has happened to the scouting system. Everyone is shouting for an expensive signing and yet teams in the middle of the table and below can find real gems for not that much money. We got Coutinho for a song and he cost less than £10M (£8M I believe), so now we need the scouting system to find another couple of players, preferably a centre mid and a striker for that sort of money on the level of Coutinho. We already have Sturridge and if we can get him fit early and get Origi and Ings to fill in well to get us off to a decent start then maybe we might surprise a few people.
ReplyDeleteI can. He's won everything at Bayern, now he's getting limited game time and United will no doubt be offering him an obscene amount of money. Plus his connection to LVG.
ReplyDeleteI always thought it was pig farmer...
ReplyDeleteA healthy benteke would be an asset to any team. If anyone would bother to really watch footage of him. He/She would know that al though he's strong in the air. He prefers to use his feet. He's not the slowest, likes to run onto through balls, can hassle defenders and would give us a presence at the top of the park. More than 90 percent of his goals come using his feet. It's just the money that is proofing a stumbling block. But him at lfc would be an improvement on last year's debacle. Add the amount of midfielders and we are a different proposition next season.
ReplyDeleteThe terms are generally interchangeable
ReplyDeleteLacazette won`t come to Anfield unless we offer a ridiculous amount of money for him, then we would have to pay him a sizable wage too, so i can`t see him here anytime soon. I think we should try putting a cheeky bid in for Chicarito who would be a upgrade on all our forwards with the exception of Sturridge when fit that is, so Hernandes and maybe Gary Mendez the Chilean dm would be a perfect transfer window for us considering we have no Champions league football.
ReplyDeleteNot sure... but clearly the agents leeches get paid.. and much like estate agents.. the seller coughs up
ReplyDeleteAll true except he sleeps thru 1 in 3 games.
ReplyDeleteAdvocat said £2m
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I think the club deserve great credit in their handling of this whole saga. They've stood firm with their valuation and got a ridiculous fee for a player who is still in need of a fair amount of development.
ReplyDeleteSterling and his agent have made this a messy affair but Liverpool as a club have kept their dealings in house and ultimately got their way.
It's a shame to lose a player with so much potential but ultimately he had to go and to get 49 million for a child with a bad attitude is an incredible bit of business
I agree, though with Real wanting to get rid of Illarra and replace him with Carvalho, I think he would be a very good second choice if we get beat (which is likely...) :D
ReplyDeleteHave checked a number of sources which seem to concur that the selling club pays the agent approx 10% of transfer fee.. as originally outlined above.
ReplyDeleteHence LFC cut is only £31.5m.
Do we need a replacement winger though? We have Markovic and Ibe, and already will have trouble using both Firmino and Cou unless one plays as SS (which admittedly is likely). A more experienced winger would be nice, but not a complete necessity at the moment imo.
ReplyDeleteNo. Not correct.
ReplyDeleteCertainly the club management seems to have come out of all this smelling of roses as far as most of the Liverpool fanbase is concerned.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure that is true as far as the wider footballing community is concerned or the wider footballing fanbase but even there Sterling seems to have been cast as the main villain of the piece
Still an improvement on what we have. And with the euros coming up he's going to be motivated to dominate.
ReplyDeleteHis first season at villa was sensational. Because he was motivated to succeed.
Byebye brat.
ReplyDeleteYou say that as if they're Messi, Neymar and Suarez :-)
ReplyDeleteLacazette wants CL and Arsenal are hot for him, Pedro wants CL and Chelsea about to move so let's get real no chance for either
ReplyDeleteWe will most probably go after Alfred Finnbogason who plays for Real Sociedad, he`s not a bad finnisher but not what we really want knowing Rodgers, I would love Lacazette but it`s not going to happen, but as I`ve said before why not try breaking the 50year old transfer disagreement we have with Man U and put in a bid to bring Hernandez to Anfield, he would be a good fit for what we need right now, he reads the game well and will score week in week out with the players he has to feed off, Cout, Firmino, Hendo, Can and Milner, Like I said before 8M has to 32.5M for Benteke, who like we have all thought doesn`t fit our style of play, and if we get Hernandez we could then look at another upgrade on a defensive midfielder the likes of Illarra or Medel and still have a bit over for either a new left back or another Center back maybe, it`s food for thought.
ReplyDeleteAlready spent on Firmino, Clyne and Ings? Or do you think FSG have another 46 million lying around for the man who wasted 115 million last summer?
ReplyDeleteThere is wrong spelling and there is not even close spelling :-)
ReplyDeleteDoes it mean FSG money-ball is paying off?
ReplyDeleteTook the words right out of my mouth
ReplyDeleteYou know what I mean... I have to be on dictionary corner to spell all the names linked to Liverpool
ReplyDeleteCheaper too.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Those two and ship deadwood(Balo/Borini/Lambert/Enrique/Alberto) and we go again. Although I'd put Lacazette #1 and Carvalho #2. We could go with no DM(Lucas stay) but can't go without another striker.
ReplyDeleteIbe and Markovic might have potential, but it would be folly for Liverpool, who should be aiming to be the best team in Europe, and at least England, to be relying on a teenage winger with about 7 caps and a 21-year-old that clearly didn't impress the manager in his first season. Two good players in every position is the mantra. If you count Firmino as a winger, that still leaves one vacancy. We scraped sixth last season and our rivals are improving to the tune of Schweinsteiger, so let's not underestimate the magnitude of the task at hand.
ReplyDelete...okay, you're probably gonna shoot me for this, but did you see the stats comparing joe allen to shweinsteiger..?
ReplyDelete..yep...Joe xavi allen...had much better stats..
now I'm not sayin stats are evrything but swhinie is 30 odd yoa and isn't gonna be playin for a team he absolutely loves, is he hungry any more, will he get used to the league before getting properly injured...etc, etc....
So long as we get both I dont mind.
ReplyDelete...yes....
