'Fantastic': International star confirms he'll 'join Liverpool'; explains why he chose Anfield

It's official: Bolton number-two Adam Bogdan will become a Liverpool player on July 1st, joining fellow free signings James Friggin' Milner, and Danny Ings at Anfield. Bogdan is yet another underwhelming signing, but it's not his fault Liverpool are sliding into transfer mediocrity; the Hungarian international merely said 'yes' to LFC's offer, and in an open letter to fans today, Bogdan explained why he decided to ditch Bolton for Liverpool.

In his letter, Bogdan explained:

"I have been given a fantastic chance in my life to join Liverpool Football Club and I would like to make the most of this opportunity.

"I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my career, but I will never forget the time I have spent at Bolton".

Bolton finished 18th in the Championship last season, and given the opportunity to abandon the Championship for one of the Premier League's top clubs, most players would, I'm sure, make the same decision as Bogdan.

It's not like he's jumping ship at the first sign of choppy waters, either. Bogdan is in his eighth year at Bolton; he's paid his dues, and probably feels that a move to a bigger club is a just reward for his loyalty over the years.

I've made my feelings clear on this transfer: Bogdan doesn't have the stature, experience, or ability to permanently relegate Mignolet to the bench, which (arguably) makes his signing a retrograde step for Liverpool.

However, anything is possible. Bogdan may surprise everyone and and become the commanding, imperious goalkeeper Liverpool so desperately need.

The Hungarian doesn't appear to be equipped to do that, but he should be hungry to succeed, and if he has any ambition, he'll see that Mignolet is there for the taking, and work towards taking him down.

That means Bogdan has to grab any chances he has with both hands (so to speak), and make it impossible for Rodgers (or whoever is in charge) to drop him.

It all depends on one thing though: Rodgers needs to be open to permanently dropping Mignolet. If he isn't, then it doesn't matter how well Bogdan players as he'll always end up back on the bench (like Brad Jones).

If Rodgers is willing to ditch Mignolet, then Bogdan has a great chance to become Liverpool's number-one.

  1. If Bogdan at his age goes from Bolton number 2 to Liverpool number 1 it will be "a miracle of biblical proportions"

  4. Bogdan was responsible for some high profile mistakes when Bolton was in the premier league. Whenever any keeper made a mistake in general, I should say to my mates that he's done a Bogdan, such a joke of a keeper he was and still is. I can't believe he's Liverpool player now, and made us a laughing stock, the lowest caliber of player we could of gotten. Keeps in line with Gary Neville's comments that we are a provincial club. We've got a provincial manager, we buying provincial players, and we've got cheap-skate owners. Pains to say Everton will likely overtake us now.

  5. How does this constitute outstanding, 13 goals conceded in 9 games, for Bolton, what a champion.

    ReplyDelete
  6. From what I understand he was #1 until injury and he rejected a contract. Still agree that we needed a higher class GK, but he's put on some pretty good performances for Bolton.

  9. he did show his plan for next season against stoke... cause who needs a striker when u got midfielders!!!!

  10. Well BR keeping is job can be considered a miracle (after all jesus got his back, right ?) maybe he'll make Bogdan world class while he's at it.

Only jesting, closest I've come to what you have on tap was a bit of water skiing on holiday and that was very enjoyable, fishing not for everybody :)

  12. They've basically just signed a cheapo upgrade on Jones for disaster situations. Not a hope is he good enough to actually challenge Mignolet. Great ambition LFC. Chelsea have Cech as no. 2, Mancs have Valdes, Arsenal has Szczesny, we have ADAM BOGDAN!! No one can stop us now ;)

  13. lets sum up the day shall we:
    1. Bogdan bolton # 2 signs-signing as backup ok difference maker, no.
2, J Martinez to Inter - another real striker we wont be signing
    3. ASpas be sold good
    4. Coates being sold good
    5. Johnson moving out good
    6. Ings requires more money No
We are selling some deadwood, AMEN!
We are signing sqauddies AGAIN WTF!!!!!
Prolific striker, sturdy going to Inter which I am not sure thye made the CL this year. So whats the excuse about why thye got him but we didn't?
    Biblically underwhelmed.
(Biblical used here as a tribute to Stuart earlier as well as Ghostbusters moveie)

  14. Yeh WTF is happening. Didn't Rodgers actually say that we wouldn't need squad players this summer and that we'd be looking for top players who can come in and directly improve the first team? I'm pretty sure he said that in one of his last interviews of the season!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Based on their brilliant squad? Or their wonderful finishing position?
    Panic much?

  17. Amen to that, and not just our CB's - how nice would it be to actually start a season with all our cylinders firing for a change.
We can not afford to have a slow start again, it just leaves way too much ground to make up.

  18. Amazing the amount we've managed to achieve before the window opens.

  19. I dont mind the signing of Milner or Ings i think they are upgrades on out goings i hope they sell Allen.
There should be money there for a decent striker but dont hold your breath on a new D.M coming.

  21. See Loges gone yesterday you was all worried.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thing is we don't know the context of Bogdan's signing yet and it seems foolish to argue his merits without all the facts, he's certainly better than Jones though so that's a good start.
Why do we need someone to really push Mignolet, not all Clubs work to that model and I can see it being counterintuitive.
Let's at least give the guy a chance, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Actually, J Martinez picked AC Milan, a team basically in our position if not worse.

''Liverpool can't sign top class players''. Bullsh*t, absolute f**king bullsh*t. Sorry, but it hurts my soul as much as it hurts my brain to sign people like Bogdan and Ings, while a team gets a top class player that we might just have gotten as well.

Goes to show that some footballers care about the clubs as well. De Bruyne, Liverpool fan since he started kicking the ball. Why not go for him? Oh yeah, because he isn't English, and he doesn't play for some mid table PL team or some nobody championship team.

But hey, if FSG are delighted with mediocrity like Ings and Bogdan, might as well sell Sterling so we can buy all of MK Dons.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 'Reds go Catalan, Blues go Matalan'

Oh how we used to laugh.

    Expect Bogdan isn't even Matalan-worthy.

He's 'found in the bins behind Netto'-worthy.

  30. So free agents from now on? Once you have Rodgers, this is the type of player you will get. Pitiful. Not an ounce of hope for a new season for the first time in years.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Always good to welcome a new player and really make him feel at home.
Maybe why that's why Sterling wants to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Do you have a source verifying we are not going to sign any more players?

    ReplyDelete
  33. In all fairness, Bodgers spent years in the Championship so he probably feels more comfortable at that level.

Signing Premier League players has hardly been a rip-roaring success for him.

Brendan has outdone himself this time.

    ReplyDelete
  35. So Bolton, in massive debt, struggling in the Championship, fighting for Championship and financial survival - decide to drop their best keeper, who they might not have been able to afford to keep anyway because he didn't want to sign a new contract?

I'm calling that BS, from wishful thinkers.

    ReplyDelete
  36. How does "he rejected a contract" translate to "Bolton decide to drop their best keeper"?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Is he an upgrade though?

I see people keep saying that, but simply repeating it doesn't make it true.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well, first off Bogdan is hardly likely to be reading these comments, is he?

Secondly, it's rather telling that instead of defending the signing, you choose to respond by making a completely random and unrelated point about Sterling.

But then you as already know, Sterling's desire to leave is nothing to do with the fans.

It's more to do with not believing he can win anything with BR (which tbf, is quite believable) and earning more money (which he undoubtedly will).

    You keep trying though.

  39. I don't know whats happening its just bizarre to go for Bogdan when better options are available i mean free ones too. I just wonder what FSG and BR are doing but i just can't help and wonder
Are they trying to do a Moneyball here ? but up until now this new movie, hasn't been good.

    ReplyDelete
  40. 13 goals in 9 games? When Brendan converts him to a lone striker we will be laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well firstly I'll just say that Sterling told me he's totally fed up with the lack of support on here and also that he doesn't have enough money for child maintenance so you can put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Regards our new keeper, I've already posted that I think he's better than Jones and as far as I'm concerned if one player leaves and a better player comes in, then that can only be a good thing.
Is he the answer to all our goal keeping desires - probably not - but that's not why he's been brought here and I think you know that, so why would you seek to run the guy into the ground before he's even kicked a ball out of play.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I do the same.

Unfortunately with fans such as most of us here were so passionate when things are bad we have little hope and often probably overly critical. This site often balances me and makes me realize that in the end I'm just a supporter. Maybe most people are just getting frustration out here but it was defiantly more fun last summer. It seems to be nothing but slating every single person involved with the club at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Where is quote from sterling mentioning he doesn't believe in winning with BR? Or even with LFC for that matter?

    ReplyDelete
  44. No quote.

    Just reports.

    But you already knew that.

In fact he hasn't even said he wants to leave.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You do realize BR brought Sturridge, Countinho, and Sakho to the club correct?

    Another bizarre and unfounded statement.

    ReplyDelete
  46. In honesty, I know everyone on here is really on the same page regarding their wishes for our Club, I've spent many years feeling the doom and gloom and have reached a point where I feel I have to just enjoy each season for what it is, whilst still hoping for the best.
If I ever have a convo where I can suggest a more optimistic way of looking at something and it makes someone else a little less depressed, then that in turn cheers me up.
Ultimately though, I want nothing more than a bloody mahoosive Premier League trophy, followed by at least another ten and three more of those Champions league jobbies ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. The most scary of all should be BR saying we don't need DM because we already have Lallana, Markovic and Balotelli. They are absolutely sensational in playing the role of DM for us and we are now ready to challenge for the EPL title!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes players who were being underused it their clubs, players who we had no competition for.....bar Sakho. No player of any caliber wants to play for Rodgers. Costa, Mhikitaryan, Alexis Sanchez, Sala......snubbed. Overrated PL players from mid table teams.....sign them up quick.

    ReplyDelete
  49. He was not number 2 at Bolton, he got injured, and lost his place.
Remember he kept us goalless at Anfield, For gods sake give the guy a chance, have you ever see him play, ????????????????

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yep thats what I thought

    ReplyDelete
  52. 5/24 of those signings (Ill include Can and Mignolet) have proven their worth. The other 80% have done nothing but fail miserably or become passengers.

Only 1 of those 24 has been signed last window, being Can.

    So how is it bizarre?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Never mind about all that, what's the drink drive limit, how long is my local 24hr garage open for and can I make it there without crashing if I lean right out of the window and follow the white lines??

    ReplyDelete
  54. Except keeping us goalless is nothing out of the ordinary, considering our top goalscorers had 7 goals..

  56. Twas only in jest, fair one though and good answer, much appreciated advice, been there and done it many a moon ago though - not something I'd ever repeat or advocate. I never can work out when that 24hr place will be open though.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree mate,, goalscoring was our biggest problem last season, hopefully we can get someone in to rectify that, but I wont hold my breath until it happens, If it ever does. Who knows

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah but being a Championship player means he's terrible now ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Considering the fact that Ings and Origi are both coming here, Balo is most likely staying, I don't really know if we will sign one.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yes we will,, its obvious it is the number position that needs to be filled, Lets face it,,, would you bet on Sturridge not being injured at sometime next season, he is glass.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lol @ shifting the blame there.

Did I mention Sterling in my OP?

No, and I was just pointing that out.

Now who's trying to shame a fellow supporter?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Of course we will, however I wouldn't be surprised if he came from a team in the championship or from midtable PL...

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well, I know for a fact he was 1st choice back in 2012. He won the job over from Jaaskelainen.

    ReplyDelete
  64. He got only about 100 apps for Bolton in 8 years... I'm pretty sure if he was the 1st choice he would have more apps to show for it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Go down and ask them for their opening hours.
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  66. First choice for half a season (end of 2012) then Bolton got relegated, didn't they? And he was benched at some point last season I think (I don't know when). Assuming he only got, say 15 apps before become a regular, 85 apps is pretty good in 3 years considering Bolton weren't really competing for anything aside for the league and various cups.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a terrible transfer. Bogdan makes waaaaay too many mistakes, relies far too much on pure athleticism rather than GKing talent or skill. Other than in reaction saves, he really is quite underwhelming.

    ReplyDelete
  67. We could've gone for Timo Horn for backup, he's absolutely a quality goal keeper he'll keep Mignolet on his toes. Timo Horn has a market value of only 5m.

    ReplyDelete
  68. It's as if this transfer could be likely, had a certain Bundesliga top class Manager been wanting the job for Liverpool. He would be perfect for the Kop, in fact his name rhymes with it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. 'Not an ounce of hope for the new season'? - that's a pretty bizarre thing to say before the window has even opened in my opinion, never mind the fact we don't even know if Brendan will still be in charge next week.
As far as the player/success ratio you mention, do you honestly thing that other clubs do any better or is it just a fact of life that nothings guaranteed as far as new players goes.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I reckon it will be who we get out, will decide the stature of player we are after, If Sterling goes, then we are looking at the top players.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Maybe we still will.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Jamie ...who are the established players who are willing to come to lfc to play Europe with a bunch of passionless, spiritless n lazy players ( excluding countinho)? Reus?lacazette?mandzukic?vietto? cavani? Muriel? Draxler?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Everyone knows that there is a transfer committee. What nobody knows is how many of these players were pushed on Rodgers. All we know is Rodgers said yes but that could be because the committee said no to his targets and said here is your options and Rodgers toke what he felt was best. Not to mention Ayre had screwed so many deals up its crazy. BR can't control that but we decide its all his fault?

Plus to judge players such as Moreno and Markovic is very shortsighted and unfair to such young raw talent.

Everyone complains he played everybody or if position but when e went in a great steal nobody complained. No one could predict how awful Lovren was going to be. Sakhos injury completed hampered a team with already huge defensive frailties. He played a system which helped put our attacking talent on the field but also put numbers begins the ball. It worked great until ManU and Arsenal and then the wheels just fell off no players stepped up after those games.

    ReplyDelete
  74. That's what we do best...monitor in the name of trying...we should just get grade b players n a better coach to turn them into stars...BR is focused on alimony and a new girlfriend.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I just don't see any positives in this transfer. If he can't provide any competition for Mignolet its just waste of wages, why not promote a young keeper from the u21s or the academy? I'm sure he'll be earning about 20- 30k a week. Those wages could come in really handy when or if we go for a real gamed changer.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yes we are but what if the player wants to move to a cl team? That's the reality with what most of these players want...cl. ..let it gooooooo

    ReplyDelete
  77. Costa won two championships since his apparent snub even though nobody was after him except us the year we actually inquired.
Mhikitayran, went to a team that just finished runners up in both there league and CL versus us who finished 7th and didn't have CL.
Salah went cause Ayre screwed the poach and couldn't get a deal agreed. So not a snub in the slightest.

Sanchez is the only one you can truly say snub us and is mostly down to his family wanted to be in London.

    You have an unfounded argument.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I hope so... This guy can bench Mignolet, there'll be immense competition for the no.1 spot. Which can prove to be extremely helpful for LFC even in the long run.

    ReplyDelete
  79. No ..Kovacic is not looking to stay at inter..neither is he looking to come to a Europa team...they all look at cl..let's pray he's snubbed by the cl teams n he accepts lfc as a better option than staying with inter

    ReplyDelete
  80. Your absolutely right. But it annoys me these folks only take the parts of info that fit there agenda and don't look at the stuff and try to come to a reasonable conclusion.

    ReplyDelete
  81. What?? 100K per week is not enough to provide child support??
He was supported and loved by the fans until he reportedly rejected 80k per week and a 100k per week and asked for 180k per week pay. And he was awful in the last 5 or 6 months of the campaign, which showed that he infact does not deserve such a pay rise

    ReplyDelete
  82. Your right I didn't mean to shame you and I'm sorry.

But you did make a false claim to try to shame someone else of a comment that was clearly meant as sarcasm. As soon as fans started booing sterling I didn't blame him for wanting to leave. We don't know the whole and probably never will. We shouldn't be booing our players. Unless the is hard proof a player is throwing games we are SUPPORTERS.

    ReplyDelete
  83. All's fair in love and football support I say mate, am sure others feel exactly the same way as you describe, about mine, your and others different views and feel perhaps we're overly positive; all good though, as long as we win the league next season, drinks are on Logan :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. where was Ray Clemence signed from ?? scunthorpe i believe and he didnt do too badly .I realise thats history and Im not saying that Bogdan will be another Clemence but its an example of a player signed from a lower league who became a "great "...not all players start in their careers in premiere league

    ReplyDelete
  85. Lol look at that comment deleted I didn't even do anything wrong :-)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Your asking the wrong question Knight, the right one is: what is 100k divided by 358 children?
£279, now how can we expect a child to manage with that on a weekly basis.
Luckily Ash has come up with the great idea for Raheem to be sponsored by Durex so that should sort this whole sticky mess out and he can get back to hitting the back of the net with gay abandon.
I think everyone will be happy with this new deal and we can now look forward to a decent nights sleep uninterrupted by screaming little Raheem, s.

  90. Sipping on my new bottle of whiskey. Cheers my friend. YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  91. Funny thing is I agree with everything you've said. The reason why I want Klopp in is because I see BR as their puppet. He certainly is a yes man, but I know that if Klopp comes in he won't take sh*t, hence why there were rumors about him only accepting the Liverpool job if the transfer committee is gone.

I'm the first one who will back Moreno and Markovic, because I hate it when players are criticized for their mistakes (Markovic red while back and Moreno slip up vs Utd.) I don't count them in simply because I can see them being ruined under pressure.

However, his great run was plighted by performances like Southampton and Swansea, teams who played better but ended up losing. Teams like them and even Blackburn found us out easily, and then you have to change to something completely different.

To be 100% honest I blame FSG for a lot more things than I do BR, and would not be fazed to see them go tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Thanks for proving my point.

    ReplyDelete
  93. So I read a report saying Pascoe and Marsh were removed cause they were just BR yes men and that FSG want him to be challenged and grow from his assistants. It's an interesting take.

I think Ayre is mostly at fault for lack of getting deals done. His ability to gain sponsorships and grow our market and wealth is impressive. But his ability to do deals for players is lacking. His marketing should be kept and someone else more competent in player deals should be brought in specfic for that. The committee thing is a baseball thing that needs to be dropped and there savvy enough to learn that. FSG saved this club from being put under administration, they are still learning but have no fear of making nessacary change.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Yep, and remind me how that worked out?

Bolton got relegated and Jasskelainen went on to be first choice at West Ham.

    ReplyDelete
  95. So you can attack me or other readers with no repercussions. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Thanks again for proving my point.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I didn't make any false claims, I made claims based on reports which may or may not be true - reports based on quotes from his agent, and words from Raheem's own mouth in his unauthorised interview with the BBC - so there's that.

You decided to then jump in to the conversation in a hypocritical attempt to "shame" me, for supposedly trying to "shame" someone else.

All I was pointing out was that the Sterling situation had absolutely nothing to do with the Bogdan situation - it never does and it never will.

For the record, I never booed Sterling, and I hope he stays - if he doesn't want to then fair enough, I can understand and even empathise with that, I just hope that Liverpool get massive fee for him.

  111. I only saw last 15 mins unfortunately. Wouldn't surprise me. Joe Allen is capable, just not consistent enough. Always seems to play well v man city and yaya toure.

    ReplyDelete
  112. My initial reaction was like many lfc fans. He's not even first choice at Bolton, uninspired etc.

Been on a few Bolton sites like this one since and they're gutted. Really rate him and explain as you mention that he was only not playing due to injury

    Let's give him a chance

    ReplyDelete
  113. Did you see English teams performance in European competitions last season? Sorry right now Italian teams are stronger. Another 2 seasons like that and England will only have 3 CL Spots.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Which Italian, which English. No logical reasoning will ever suport Inter being a bigger club, or a better place for a player.

    ReplyDelete
  115. After getting knocked out of CL in a very easy group by the likes of Basle.... Liverpool get a hiding by a Turkish club in 1st round of Europa...which league exactly do you seeing Liverpool dominate?

    ReplyDelete
  116. No English team made it to QF of either tournament by the way - Juventus almost won the final.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Their shares were bought by a billionaire that works with a company that owns rights for both those players..

    ReplyDelete
  118. Milan's shares were bought by a billionaire that works with a company that owns rights for both Martinez and Kondogbia. And many others....

    ReplyDelete
  119. I would not mind him but that fee will be quite high. He done well at Newcastle but certainly did not set the world alight.

I would go for Song actually, for a reported £5M we can't go wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Very disappointing signing. A goal keeper as we saw with De Gea and Courtois can mean a difference of 10-15 points from quality saves when your up against it. Mignolet has proved he doesnt have the qualiteh. Neither it would seem does this Bogdan lad. Why not go in for Cech or another keeper that can challenge Mignolet outright as Jose did by bringing in Courtois and relegating Cech to the bench. I fear that this window will prove to be a disaster. I am still reeling in shock and disgust from the James Milner nonsense...hopefully I will be proved wrong, but honestly having serious flashbacks of Joe Cole there! FSG clearly up to some dirty games. Buy british lads, whom they have being told command a premium and try to flog them off for a profit later as we are seeing in the case of Raheem. Its a retrograde strategy really. If I was Rodgers I would be scouring the bleachers at copa america looking for the next coutinho in the Latin American leagues.

Alonso wasn't a prolific goal scorer from mid-field either - but he was a brilliant play-maker.

    ReplyDelete
  122. He was on a free (low risk) brought in to cover the loss of Brad Jones (who also went on a free), what would you have Liverpool do, spend 4-5mil on a keeper that is just going to sit on the bench. This guy knows he is only coming to keep the bench warm. James "Friggin" Milner (as you put it) is a good bit of business IMO, he always gives his all on the pitch and is prepared to play in out of position Ings will need time feel to adapt to playing with the added pressures but he has the potential to be a good player. All 3 are low risk and imo good additions, now we need to go out and buy some quality, a CF and a DM.

    ReplyDelete
  123. About time somebody pointed out that it isn't always as straightforward as it seems when these choices are made.
    Well done.

    ReplyDelete
  124. IF we do, then these signings make sense. What I think most people worry about is that there will be no big signings to complement them and we will be competing with teams who ARE buying 2 or 3 top quality players

    ReplyDelete
  125. The owners know they need to invest but i think they also know it needs to be done in the right manner Ian Ayre clearly cant be trusted to buy or re-sign current players and its time to move him on. Rogers will be out the door are Christmas if he doesn't improve the teams output. Lets just hope (for the fans sake) that this transfer window isn't as bad as the last 3-4

    ReplyDelete
  126. Yes I'm the deluded one. With all your overwhelming evidence based in facts how is possible that I can't see what is so clearly the for everyone to see.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Actually neither Sterling or his agent mention BR at all in there interviews. Sterling does say he wants to win trophies but nothing of BR. So that is a false claim.

I would love to watch Sterling grow and play in a LFC uniform. But if he goes especially for the fee that is being mentioned, it's whatever to me, I've always felt Ibe was a better prospect.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I will be on Abbotsbury beach on Tuesday

    ReplyDelete
  129. Nope.

    Not a false claim.

A false claim would be something you could conclusively prove wrong but you can't - so it's not false.

I hate being pedantic but you keep claiming I made false claims, when you have no way of knowing whether what I said is true or not.

Again, it's an unproven claim, based on numerous reports.

And if you accept that Sterling wants to win trophies as a motivating factor in his supposed desire to move, then clearly the implication is that he believes Liverpool won't win trophies under BR.

Otherwise, if he believed Liverpool COULD win trophies under BR, then presumably he'd be happy to stay.

Seriously, listen! How many times do you need to be told. HE IS/WAS NUMBER 1!

He got injured but actually ended the season as number 1 again. He has been our number one for a few years. Just had a few injuries.

Great keeper who just keeps getting better and better. He is Free FFS. A Fucking steal!

    ReplyDelete
  131. It seems you need to look up what the word snub means. It doesn't matter what the he'll they went on to do after they declined to join LFC. Rodgers got snubbed! Get that through your skull

    ReplyDelete
  132. Unproven is just a grey ground between false and true. It's used to better suit you, I can claim it false on facts that there is no mention of BR. You use assumptions to make it somewhat closer to truth but in all reality still false. On top of it those reports have no sources besides BBC, where again there is ZERO things said about BR.

    ReplyDelete
  133. No one directly snubbed BR. They all made career and family decisions. You view it as a snub because it's another reason for you to slam someone that let you down. Many of those "snubs" turned out to be good decisions for the individual but many times it wasn't even BR's fault deals were never even agreed to give BR a chance. Costa and Sanchez are the only ones who could have possibly "snubbed" BR one chose based on family, the other wanted to show loyalty to club that gave him everything. Hardly snubs.

  134. Dangling? - My Sea fishing experience is fairly limited and not been to Chesil yet - had some nice Bass and Rays from beaches around Poole area, Wrasse and Mackerel out in the harbour, few Flaties off the Pier and lots of crabs from Bournemouth ;-)
Tight lines for Tuesday, or if you didn't mean fishing then I can only imagine your Dog will have fun with all the swans in that neck of the woods :)

    ReplyDelete
  135. Well, yes. He's not that great of a player. My point is that calling him Bolton's forever benched goalie is not completely true...

    ReplyDelete
  136. None of that herbal stuff for me fellow red, I'm just naturally ridiculous :)
Totally understand your point of view; I've read a few posts by others though which have given me some hope that he's actually better than many believe and I will always lean towards giving someone a chance and certainly a new Liverpool player will get my full support until the point of no return, or as I like to now phrase it they 'do an Aspas' (best of luck to him by the way, didn't work out but nevertheless YNWA)
Anyway, as I say I get where you're coming from and sure, it's not the signing of the century but who knows, we may even sign another keeper by the end of the window, or Mignolet may even leave or both, all I'm saying is let's not ridicule Bogdan in the meantime.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Think that sums things up well, I'm fully in support of FSG and the amount they've invested in the Club cannot be questioned but, as you say they certainly appear to rule with a heavy hand and if that then hinders the manager and also rules out others who won't work with them because of it, then at some stage in the future, they are going to come under fire themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  138. That's easy for you to say ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  139. Cheers. Just hoping for some mackerel bashing (and that's not a euphemism before Ash starts ;-) ) with a bit of bassing to follow if we get some mackerel for bait. I went last week but very hard work for just 11 ;-/

I don't take the boy yet. He's a bit too mad for heavily sloping beaches, deep water, feathers and fish and still getting over his cruciate op but doing well!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Forgot your Boxer had his knee op, glad to hear it went well though. Nice to hear some good old fashioned fishing enthusiasm, reminds me why I like it, - more like '11 trips' and I might catch, a fish, for me these days. All good though :)

    ReplyDelete
  141. Which is why I never said anything of the sort.

    ReplyDelete
  142. You can't claim it to be false, because you don't have a clue what Raheem is thinking.

Your assumptions about me and Sterling are completely false.

And as for the BBC interview, without mentioning BR by name, Raheem was pretty adamant that he wanted to win trophies, hence he rejected the contract.

That infers that he doesn't believe he can do that at Liverpool, whose current manager happens to be BR.

Clearly Raheem wasn't going to come out and state that explicitly, but you have to be able to read between the lines.

But anyway, you believe and claim whatever you need to to make yourself feel better.

I have a feeling we won't have to wait too long for me to be proven right.

Anyway, enough with the false claims nonsense - you believe what you want, I'll believe what I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Not ridiculing Bogdan, Bogdan is an unfortunate victim (or amazingly lucky guy depending on your point of view) of our current transfer policy.

Like I've said several times, it's still not a done deal and hopefully he fails the medical and forces a rethink.

    ReplyDelete
  144. You are correct my son....................

    ReplyDelete
  145. Why are you being so negative about this? Bogdan has more saves per goal than most top keepers. A shot is a shot...they don't go 'more' in the top corner in the championship than they do in the PL. How many appearances did Brad J make this season past? More specifically how many when he was actually needed? He got most of his starts to give Migs a kick up the a** and then he got injured. When he did play he was dire (think ManU). This move has strengthened or keeper roster comparatively and we haven't spunked money on it either which means we saved money that we can spend on positions we need to spend money on. And he was Boltons number 1 till he got injured and didn't make it back because he made his intentions known that he wanted to move. So he's not their 2nd string keeper. A little perspective there horse.

    ReplyDelete
  146. If you ask me Liverpool has a proper midfielders? NO (barring Coutinho who obviously need to find net more often).
Lallana, Mr future Captain et al are simply not good enough. They are players with low self esteem and poor vision.

We need quality in the midfield. Whether LFC signs Cabaye or Kovacic - I seriously don't mind. They are definitely upgrades to the duds we have right now!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Do we have any cash to spend this transfer window??

    ReplyDelete
  148. I think FSG are comfortable with their 'Yes Man' who is shamelessly willing to carry the baton for how many long sickening years - i have no idea !

Board knew the common mood - which is one of anger and anguish - they needed few scapegoats. Poor Pascoe and Marsh were pin pointed and shown the red card.

While this unrepentant amateurish manager has no grace to save or sink with his team.

And FSG are trusting him to show club the light of the day.
I am in utter awe and dismay !

    ReplyDelete
  149. You didn't. But other people did. I apologise if that's what it seemed like...

    ReplyDelete
  150. You do know he ousted jussi jaskeleinnen as keeper at bolton for a stage and was voted player of the year for them? We probably wpuldnt have been able to get a backup as good or better...

Sadly we dont have cl to flash around. i don't believe him to be a bad signing. He is hungary's national keeper...

    ReplyDelete
  151. Ok, well you kind of are ridiculing him but if you think he's an amazingly unfortunate victim then who am I to argue.

'Reds go Catalan, Blues go Matalan'

'found in the bins behind Netto'-worthy.

Don't wish to argue and the earth didn't move for me with this signing but if it looks like ridicule and sounds like ridicule then - maybe you were complimenting him?

    ReplyDelete
  152. Well, tbf yesterday he was kept out of the Hungarian team by 39 year old Gabor Kiraly.

Kiraly is Fulham's 2nd choice keeper and Fulham also struggled in the Championship.

But I was ridiculing BR's transfer policy actually.

Bogdan, was just an unfortunate victim caught in the crossfire.

    ReplyDelete
  153. But when he keeps ten back to back clean sheets for us he will usurp Kiraly and take his place as the main man :)
Fair enough TDD, I see where your coming from and apologise for becoming overly sarcastic in my last post, my wit was running dangerously low I'll admit.
As is to be expected at present, a lot of questions regarding the Club and we've all got our own views and ideas of what the answers are - I know we all want the same outcome though ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  154. Naa not really. Bolasi was once a championship player and we all know what happens every time he plays against an lfc defence.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Well played....well played!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Did Liverpool managed by Brendan Rogers not finish in second place the season before last? It was not all Suarez? He missed a few games for biting, Sturridge also failed to play much this past season. It would have been a miracle for any manager to have produced a better finish without those two. I would have thought that even the most brain dead would have realised that!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Yup, I heard a rumour that Ian Ayre was spotted chewing a new gummy bear this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  158. We don't have anything against Bogdan. As you say he is a good 'keeper. We're just slightly miffed that our money-men seem to be cheaping out. The ire looks like it's aimed at Bogdan but it's actually frustration at the fact we don't seem to be moving for the players many fans want.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Brendan Rogers keep his job because he has just sign a 4 year contract and FSG can't afford to sack him. Therefore they rely on Brendan to quit on his own.

    ReplyDelete
