Exciting News: Boss confirms £20m 'super-talent' who wants Liverpool transfer 'will leave'

Liverpool are reportedly favourites to sign 'special' PSV Eindhoven 'super-talent' Memphis Depay, and according to the club Director Marcel Brands, the young attacker will almost certainly leave the Eredivise this summer.

In March, The Mirror reported:

* Liverpool are in 'pole-position to sign Depay.

* A 'delegation' from Liverpool has allegedly visited PSV 'every month' this season.

* That 'delegation' has spent a 'lot of time' with Depay's agent.

* Depay is 'keen' to join Liverpool over Manchester United.

When asked this week about £25m-rated Depay's future, Brands warned that the 21-year old is 'not ready to leave' and urged him to 'continue for another year' at PSV, but he also conceded:

"The chances are very high that he [Depay] will leave. If you see what clubs are enquiring about him, they really are the best in Europe. If I worked at a big European club, I’d buy him without question."

PSV Boss Phillip Cocu is also resigned to losing Depay, and in February, he conceded:

"At some point, it becomes clear that he [Depay] is ready for the next step. And yes, I think he's going to leave PSV after this season"

Depay is on fire for PSV this season:

* 25 goals/6 assists in 36 appearances.
* Goal every 1.4 games (1 every 121 mins)
* Goal/Assist every 1.1 games (1 every 95 mins)

Liverpool were linked with Depay last summer, but ended up signing Divock Origi instead. However, unlike Origi - who has struggled for consistency this season - Depay has really built on his promising performances at the World Cup, and clearly progressed as a player.

Indeed, according to ex-United scout Ed van Stijn, Depay is a better prospect than Cristiano Ronaldo. He told reporters recently:

"If you compare him [Depay] to a young Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, then Depay has more strings to his bow. I like him better".

Dutch legend Guus Hiddink is also a fan, and earlier this season, he gushed:

"Depay has the potential to become Netherlands' best player. I first thought that it was hard to approach him but I was wrong. He is incredible, interested, and keen to learn"

It sounds like Liverpool are really taking this potential deal seriously, but come the summer, every top club in Europe will probably be after Depay. That said, he allegedly wants to join the Reds, but we've heard that so many times before that it basically means nothing.

Can Liverpool pull of this transfer?

  1. YES YES YES! Gotta hurry before Van Gaal seduces him though...

  2. If we get our business done quick we can find our best line up earlier and get replacements in quick before any top clubs snag them. Definitely keen on Depay.

  3. Does anyone have an explanation why would he choose us over Van Gaal?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yes please. He fits FSG policy for recruitment.

  5. Aston Villa will be very very very hard to beat next weekend - I am worried about it - fear the worse

  6. They had a player injured today and another red carded but you would not expect a semi final to be easy

  7. You do realize this is not Hull City?!?

  8. No chance, he supports Utd, and has worked with Van Goal before. Don't get your hopes up boys.

    ReplyDelete
  9. He probably won't but it's not in the Mirror's interest to say that '-)

  10. Van Gaal is not exactly nice. He is pretty notorious for wrecking havoc and upsetting many players. Van Persie was his golden child in the summer but is basically been shunned out at this season. He is ruthless, and if Cocu is saying anything to him he is telling him to steer clear of Van Gaal. Cocu was part of that dutch squad that had a nuclear melt down with Van Gaal. The second appointment of Van Gaal as the dutch coach was highly criticized for fear of a similar meltdown.

  11. Cobblers, he's off to Utd, it just doesn't make sense that he would want to come here instead of there!

  12. He can replace Sterling....is he any good playing as a right wing back?!

  13. Disturbing mental image.

"For God's sake Mr Van Gaal. You got me into your house. You give me a drink. You...put on music. Now you start opening up your personal life to me and tell me your wife won't be back for hours."

[Memphis stares nervously at Van Gaal's naked, outstretched leg]

"Mr Van Gaal. You're trying to seduce me. Aren't you?"

  15. Gaal is love, van gaal is life

  16. Nobody can replace Sterling...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well... I'd hope we get an actual RB/RWB, and keep Sterling/Depay in attack, but that's just me.

  18. No contest. I have candles and a light dimmer ;D

  19. He would walk straight into our first team

  20. Agreed ,
Look what he has done for Falco and van Persie 's career's .

    Nobody can replace Suarez
    Nobody can replace Carragher .

  22. No reason, but he 'll have to wait behind Mata & De Maria, while compete with Januzaj, Valencia & Young to seat on that MU bench - here he 'll start from Game 1. If the money is similar, I think, for a 20/21 years old kid, it's much better proposition. 2-3 years at LFC & he can move to Barca, Real, Juve, Milan (s), Bayern or CFC/MC/MU at 200K/week.

Now days, top players outside UK don't rate English football (read MU, CFC, MC, Arsenal or LFC) much over the top sides in Spain, Italy or Germany. Most top foreign players in EPL are actually paid 20-30% higher (on adjusted money & purchasing parity) than Spain, Italy, Germany or even France (Considering their ridiculous taxation).

Besides, EPL is the worst place for young players - it's more physical & faster for an young player to complete his technical & skill aspects of the game. See the number of U21 players & their game time in La Liga, Seria A, Bundesliga, Legue 1, even for top sides. Just for example - Pogba, Varane or Griezzman won't have been remotely close to the players they are now, had they been playing in EPL.

  23. I don't care what it takes, sign this man. He's a quick and skillful genius, and we can maybe play a 3 up top now with Depay Sturridge and Sterling, with Coutinho behind,

    --------------------Mignolet
    Can-------Skrtel-----------Sakho--------Moreno
    -------Leiva/???-------------Henderson
    -------------------Coutinho
    Sterling---------Sturridge--------Depay

Team could work very well, but we would need a new DM for sure.

  24. Don't agree on the Man U part.

Van Gaal is a type of manager who doesn't care who the player is, or how much he costs. If he plays well, he get's on. Proven with Di Maria who is on the bench ATM, and has said to Falcao: ''I don't care if you are worth 50 or 500m''.
And along with Holland nationality between the 2, Man U have a slight edge, and are in place for CL.

We only offer a good youth program. But it's easy for agents to look past that, and go for the money per/wk, which MU can easily offer over us.

Although, I do hope his judgement is not clouded by $$$ or glory, which unfortunately is what youngsters are after these days.

  25. Not only replace, he's an instant upgrade.

    ReplyDelete
  26. We will finish above manu, by the way..

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jovetic for Sterling. We would get a few Sterlings too..

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jovetic has had a lot of injury problems....with him & Sturridge in the team as main strikers...it's unlikely they'll play too much of the season

    ReplyDelete
  29. Optimism is great, but you just have to look at the current situation. They are above us, and in 3rd. I severely doubt we will be able to catch up to 3rd, maybe above ManC. But, Southampton and Tottenham are behind us as well, don't forget. Tottenham I'm not so worried about, but Southampton has a very easy run of games until the end of the season, the only hard looking game being vs. Tottenham, and one near the end against free falling ManC. We still have to face off against Chelsea, an empowered AVL, and Crystal Palace, a team known for fucking up our shit. It won't be easy, and I'm definitely not saying it's impossible, but we will need more then skill and tactics to get CL this season.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think that's actually worth a try. He's not getting playing time, and he's a skillful CF who can pass well. Also not old either.

    ReplyDelete
  31. your having a laugh aren't you ??

    ReplyDelete
  32. That is the first thing, I wouldn't bring him as a striker- he is one of the best attacking mids in the league. I am a bit bias him being my compatriot, but he certainly is not a striker.

Im sorry but we are and have been too slow to act when it comes to the market not to mention don't have an idea how to seal a deal.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Apparently. deal done with uniturd. According to some reports. LVG close relationship with PSV and meeting the 25 mil price will be announced when PSV win the league.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I honestly don't believe it. We were just as "certainly" his first choice a few weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do you have any source? Cause I question this "close relationship" considering he was raised as player and coach in the Ajax system. Also if you have source does this person work at either club or are they quoting anybody that does cause its probably false if not.

    ReplyDelete
  37. According to The Mirrror today 12/04/2015
Man U a in pole position to sign Memphis Depay, for 25m

I suppose tomorrow it will be another club ?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Moonwalk straight in...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Would love him at lfc but I will believe it when I see it. Because when thinking about we did not buy anyone in the summer who was better than the current squad players...poor

    ReplyDelete
  40. Is he not a second striker? Who can also play as an attacking mid or winger

    ReplyDelete
  41. Some reports say that lfc holding out on a 20m while MD prized at 25m giving ManU the driving seat to sign MD. If that's the case, ill be stumped since we have wasted so much money on thrash signings but can't fork up 5m for real quality

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'll make a prediction . I recon it's extremely doubtfull were get Depay . Ill make another prediction . If Origi can only manage 7 goals this season so far in the weaker la ligue not to mention his long goal drought then he's not going to be bringing us the goals we need to improve into a top 4 .hope I'm wrong about origi obviously but we shall see. If I'm honest I just can't see how we're going to compete with the top 4 who bring in top talent. We're goner end up with a few more youngsters including 7 goal origi and possibly a burnley striker whilst the top 4 will be bringing in top stars like German first team internationals etc.

    ReplyDelete
  43. We should try and get M Depay, but the abysmal transfer committee will haggle over the deal and he will be signed by Man United or Chelsea.
We should forget about Depay instead of spending £20M on Depay the club should spend £12M on these two wingers in the summer:
1: Swap R Lambert and give Crystal palace £3M cash for Y Bolaise
2: Bring in J Montero of Swansea for £7-£9M to compete with Bolaise for LW / LWF position

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm a big Bolasie fan , BUT real LFC fans want big names from big club's !

    ReplyDelete
  45. they don't wana get him and apparently manure wants him even if it is for 25M.
Anyway, its not at arsenal that we should be looking 'for w=hat is being smoked', we just have to ask Sterling who is finding the nth way to pretext his way out*; We are looking increasingly like a feeder club now- manure is 3-1 up now

    ReplyDelete
  46. The only way world class players will come to lfc is if we have a worldclass manager in place. Without that I doubt we'll ever get any player of real quality. I guarantee if rafa was in charge Sanchez would not have been a gooner. They can say what ever they want but London has never been the biggest draw to talent. Lots of wc players have played for city and United even us. I mean who would u wanna play for? Wenger(world class reputation ) or David Brent?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am a Real Liverpool fan, but now our owners don't want to pay what world class players want in wages. And our manager is not known around the world and does not have that pulling power.

Bolasie is a very good winger, he has pace, speed, skill, trickery, size and strength and creates and scores goals and is a handful for any full back in the league one vs one.

Bolaise and Montero are two wingers who would do well for club and cost combined total of £15M, £10M Less than Depay

If we could get back in Champions League, Bolaise and Montero would tear up so many full backs on the european stage at Anfield and Away from home.

And they are both (25) relatively young.
