Bad News: 'Sensational' Liverpool star confirms he'll miss '6-8 weeks' through injury

After having his Derby loan-spell cut short, 'sensational' Liverpool starlet Jordon Ibe delivered a series of promising performances for the Reds, and then disaster struck in the form of lateral collateral ligament damage to his knee. Ibe is on the comeback trail, but he's confirmed today that he could end up missing most of the rest of the season.

On March the 3rd, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers told reporters:

"Jordon Ibe will be out for a few weeks. He'll be back towards end of March,"

Clearly, that was wishful thinking from Rodgers as it's now the end of March, and Ibe is no closer to making a return. Indeed, in an interview today, the youngster indicated that he may be out until May. He told LFC.com:

"They said I could be out for six to eight weeks. Hopefully I can get back into training soon and play again. I was a bit nervous coming back because I hadn't been out on the grass for four weeks, but everything is going well."

If Ibe is out for the full 8 weeks, he'll return on May 2nd, which will leave only 3 games remaining until the season draws to a close.

With Gerrard and Sturridge both out right now, Liverpool could've done with Ibe in the squad, but hopefully he'll be back to help the Reds make a vital final push to secure a Champions League place.

That said, he won't be match-fit, so it's unlikely that he'll figure much in the final three games.

  1. Apparently he's started light training. So at least he's on the recovery path rather than on the injury list. It's a start. This is courtesy of sky sports news so reliable in that sense.
I'm surprised how big of an impact he made and I think he will be a miss until next season. No point breaking him in hard for 2/3 games. Ease him in and keep big picture in mind.

  4. Real shame for Ibe, he looked like he was fitting in nicely.

Off topic but, any decent streams for todays charity game?

  5. Would love to see a few more cameo's for Jordon Rossiter, although he's only just coming back from an injury. He's made the bench quite a few times and I thought he was excellent against Middlesbrough, even without the goal, he seemed to read the game well.
