I Want Out: 'Exceptional' €20m star desperate to quit Anfield ASAP. Agent in talks with LFC

In November, reports in Italy claimed that Mario Balotelli wants to quit Anfield, and that his Agent, Mino Raiola, is actively trying to negotiate a possible transfer to Napoli. Given Balotelli's ongoing struggle to fit-in at LFC, it'll come as no surprise if the club decides to cut its losses, and with the January transfer window now open, it looks like Raiola is doubling his efforts to facilitate the Italian's departure.

In November, an exclusive in Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato claimed that Raiola, is working behind the scenes to secure a transfer to Napoli, and that Balotelli wants the move 'soon'.

According to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero today:

* Raiola is trying to persuade LFC to 'cut their losses' and loan Balotelli to Serie A.
* Balotelli - who cost the Reds €20m - wants to leave Liverpool.

I recently conducted a site poll asking whether Liverpool should sell Balotelli if the chance arises:

* 13270 visitors participated in the poll.
* 77% of participants voted for LFC to sell Balotelli.

Clearly, Liverpool fans have little confidence in Balotelli, and I can't see that changing any time soon. I supported signing Balotelli but only because of the comparative bargain of a transfer fee, and if Rodgers decides to let him go in January, then so be it.

The brutal truth is that Liverpool won't miss him; Raheem Sterling has usurped Balotelli up-front, and with another striker almost certain to come in (plus Sturridge to return) the Italian's chances of regular first-team football look set to rapidly dissipate.

One man who'd love to see Balotelli at Napoli is Diego Maradona, who urged Benitez to sign the Italian prior to his Anfield move. Over the summer, he raved:

"If I were the president of Napoli, my first decision would be to sign Mario Balotelli. He is an exceptional player and if there was ever a problem with Mario, I would take care of it personally and everything would be fine."

'I would take care of it personally and everything would be fine' - I love Maradona, and comments like this are one of the reasons why :-)

A Balotelli exit seems unlikely, though, especially after this:

If Balotelli has just adopted two dogs, then he surely can't be thinking about leaving...right?

  1. Where did he say they'd adopted him?

  2. if they want him so much just put your money down .....Italian clubs mug teams off with loans ...i still think balo will come good and using him off the bench is a good option for the remainder of the season to see if he cuts it, ultimately its goals which count, but he has at least created chances to score, he just needs a bit of luck and i think the goals will come,

  4. I remember when he arrived, his agent clearly stated that he would never let Ballotelli go bacck to Italy.. Hilarious... Good ridence to Balotelli andf his garbage peddling agent, P.S. keep Romero away aswell, unless you have any quality players on your books, I don't want to read your name again associated with LFC

  7. And if and when Sturridge comes back, how will our offensive play look like? Personally, I think the most will be made of Sturridge with a striking partner, as so did last year. Who will be the man to do so? I believe that Balotelli is currently the only candidate so far. Sterling can't finish, Lambert is too slow, and Borini just won't fit in with Dan. Balotelli is the sole definition of what we have now and what Suarez was, in my opinion. His dribbling is superb, not blessed with as much pace as Sturridge, but has proven that he can finish before. The work rate might not be there but it can be fixed. He played well with Sturridge before and I believe he will again. Give it time.

  8. BUY LUCIANO VIETTO. HESS TOO GOOD. DIRECT SUAREZ REPLACEMENT. NUMBER 7. NEW AGUERO. HES GOING TO BARCA AND RM ONE DAY SO LETS GET A FEW YEARS FROM HIM. £20M IF WE HAVE TOO, HES CLASS AND PERFECT FOR LIVERPOOL

  9. thats kind of my point, he played well with sturridge but just hasnt had the chance....we are potentially breaking up a great partnership without giving it a go

  10. Please ask his agent to contact me as I would willing pay balotellis airfare to any club just to see him go

  11. rodgers more likely to be outed before mario. BR has lost the plot. his subs are woeful and the team has lost all faith

  12. What makes you think he'll come to us? If RM and FCB want him so badly they, and many other clubs, will have the upper hand on us. We aren't the attractive world class player signing club we used to be when we can't even pick up a win at home against the worst team in the PL

  13. I will try again. Balotelli merely says they have a home not that he has given them a home. JK being selective again with his quotes and over sensitive?

  14. Not just partnerships. With the rumours on Shaqiri being signed, I really question whoever is running the transfers in LFC. What happened to Suso? He very well may fit the same description as Shaqiri, yet we fail to even give him a minute on the pitch. We break not only partnerships, but chances for potentially world class players.

  15. Suso is just back in training after having surgery on a groin problem...

  16. Another potential reason Gerrard is leaving.... The way Brendan speaks of him borders on the stalker... I feel Brendan is/was in awe of Gerrard and can't make a constructive desicion without Gerrard... I bet Gerrard is leaving for the good of the team, and furure managerial decisions.

  20. how can any player be rated as n falier if he doesn't get n fare crack at it from his manager look at all the games balo started then ask yourselves how many chances the players around him created for him to score not more then one per game and yet we blame him if we can't win wow I'm shocked we all supporting those pundits that's against LFC and they all change there tune once he starts scoring come on support him after all not many quality players are knocking at our door right now ynwa

  21. Selling Mario would be a huge mistake. Give him a run of games up front with sturridge then judge him after giving him chance to form partnership

  22. Completely agree with you....Selling Mario would be a huge mistake. Give him a run of games up front with sturridge then judge him after giving him chance to form partnership

  23. Rent him a limo and get his butt out here and get people with workrate, persistence, fast feet and creativity. Surely, even 'lesser' names could be better. I am thrilled about bringing Ibe back. It would be nice to see Rossiter, Texeira and Ojo as well. Spend externally on goalie, an established striker and DM now that the Gerrard stigma is about to be lifted.......

  24. Its funny how a guy like Suarez can be so darn lucky all the time and other strikers just are not. If I were Luis I'd be in the casinos when not kicking a ball. Balotelli's attitude is just rubbish and that will never change. Simple fact is, his value dropped already and he's what? 25? His Italy team mates and Milan team mates openly criticised him even before we signed him and still we put cash on the table for him. And its not like he did anything special when he played in the PL the first time. I'm serious when I say that all those who decided to sign him should be out the door with him. It was a terribble deal and everyone who is even the slightest bit in touch with reality knew that. There was never any doubt in my mind that this would not work out.

  25. Totally agree! Glad I'm not alone in thinking this!
