On the Brink: LFC make official bid for 'world-class' £20m star. Done deal in early Jan?

The Xherdan Shaqiri rumours simply refuse to die, and only days after Swiss legend Kubily Turkyilmaz publicly advised Shaqiri to reject Liverpool, new reports claim that Liverpool are actively trying to sign the 'world-class' attacker.

In an interview this week with Swiss newspaper Blick, Turkyilmaz claimed that a move to Anfield will have a negative impact on the young attacker's career. He noted:

"A move to Liverpool right now is a bad idea.

They are in a crisis and cannot really have any ambitions this year. Joining them from Bayern, who expect to win titles every season, would be a culture shock."

Culture shock or not, Liverpool are reportedly pursuing a deal for £20m-rated Shaqiri, and according to The Mirror today:

"Liverpool have made a permanent transfer off to Bayern Munich for out-of-favour midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri. Liverpool [want to] snap him up early in January".

Sky Sports Italia also claim that Liverpool have put in a bid:

Over the last few years, Shaqiri has played and trained alongside some of the world's best players, so that should stand him in good stead if he comes to Anfield.

If Liverpool are planning to sign Shaqiri on a permanent deal, then it will be interested to see the size of the transfer fee.

A potentially exciting deal?

  1. Sign him and Kramaric

  2. With Gerrard hanging up hip red boots at the end of the season, LFC are going to have to go all out to try and bring the best players they can now before even the lure of playing with Gerrard is gone... I would expect much difficulty signing the better players when he is not longer around...
I have to wonder, ands sorry for going off topic abit, but did todays poor performance finally seal the deal, or did he realise after the Swansea rout, that he is hurting the clib rather than helping it..... I would love to know what really tipped his decision... Today seems to be a big factor in my opinion....

  3. i hope the owners don't give br a penny more to spend because all he will do is spend 25m on a another 20yr old potential. just save the money and give the next manager a bigger spending spree in the summer

    ReplyDelete
  4. He will be allowed to talk to clubs now. It's probably already sorted. I doubt it's anything to do with today.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Do you think Rodgers only wants to sign young players or that is a directive from upstairs?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm not sure if he's a top player. Mentally, I mean. He could go either way. Like Sturridge when we bought him. A lot of people, me included, were a bit downbeat on the Sturridge deal, so here's to hoping Shaqiri can turn his undeniable talent into a consistent end product.

I still think that if there is money to be spent in January, striker and goalkeeper are more important. They don't have to be superstars, but there has to be stop-gaps available who can fit in tactically with how we play.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I do think Rodgers is at fault for many of our woes. But I do agree that the powers that be are encouraging the purchase of young 'potentials'. Unfortunately, they also seem keen on buying English, irrespective of cost.

  8. Gerrard is not the best nowadays but it is the the signal of what liverpool has become. Van gaal spent more than rogers and has only done marginally better but what he did do is send out a statement. Next year when he signs his defenders he will have the pulling power of di Maria, van persie, Rooney, Mata, falcao etc. Players will see world class quality and a manager with pedigree. Please tell me what liverpool has if we do not make CL? A team with no real world class pedigree and a manager who has spent 200m but the best players in the team where signed by his predecessors. I have had enough this experiment!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Players will play for whoever if you offer them enough. United did that and so do the others. We don't which is both a good and bad thing. But like the lad above said Van Gaal has spent what Rodgers has in his whole time in one window and offered top whack wages and is only marginally better. This young team can mature, what it will be we don't know. The experiment has only just begun the data is not yet in. If you want the quick fix answers your always going to be fed up. I can't see these owners doing it.

  10. Another 5 feet (nothing against short people) tall midfielder. We got plenty of those. We need Yaya Toure type of midfielder not another winger to chase the ball. What happened to Alex Song? Aren't we trying to get him?

    ReplyDelete
  11. It's a no-brainer! Grab him ASAP!

    ReplyDelete
  12. He's signing for Chelsea to be loaned out before he is sold without playing a game for them.

    ReplyDelete
  13. He's going for around £15m. Where have you been?! He's also a top player.

    ReplyDelete
  14. So Stevie has announced he will leave in the summer. One of the best players we have had and all of the best to him. YNWA Stevie!

    ReplyDelete
  15. i agree living legend i think we should go for yohan cabaye as his replacement!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I would rather let Emre Can take Gerrard's place.

    ReplyDelete
  17. True about Emre can and think of an energetic combative and balanced partnership with Henderson

    ReplyDelete
  18. Only if we also sign a DM and keeper, otherwise we are going down the blinkered road ala Mr Wenger as this is the one position we don't really need to be filled, what with Ibe coming back at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Pogba please play for us!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Emre Can as the deepest midfielder and Henderson in his selected in his rightful position of a box to box midfielder. We will still need to go sign another decent DM though.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pierre emrick aubameyang ..........any1 .....

    ReplyDelete
  22. We could kidnapp him?

    ReplyDelete
  23. There are two arguments for and against Ibe returning. He is doing well at Derby and his confidence is high so leaving him there will be good for him. The other argument is if we lose Sterling then we are left with Lambert and Borini. I like Lambert but Borini is a walking disaster. How we ever paid £11M for him is beyond me. He just doesn't have what it takes to play for Liverpool. Against Leicester he was worse than hopeless which is about what his average level of performance is for Liverpool. He can't control the ball, giving him the ball only opens up possibilities for the opposition as he frequently gives it away and he couldn't hit the back of a bus when trying to score in front of goal. If we need pace up front with ability Ibe is a good answer to that and it wouldn't cost us anything.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Stan, I think you might be right about Gerrard feeling he can no longer benefit Liverpool as he wants to do. The lack of control against Leicester in the midfield was startling. Lucas is slow but Gerrard seemed to react almost as slowly to everything as Lucas did. It is clear that he can't play with the speed and intensity that he once did in the Premier League.

    ReplyDelete
  25. We have lucas. But again I can agree with your point because Gerrard is leaving and Allen (do I even need to tell about him) we will need a CM but I don't think we need one that is world class. But one who can make a telling impact when called on duty. Probably something like mancity and fernandino

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lucas will most likely leave, if not this month then by the next window.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Have to agree with Vermhat, a striker is needed as is a goalkeeper. How Brendan Rodgers can keep a straight face and say that Mignolet is the answer to Liverpool's goalkeeping issue is ludicrous. Everyone can see that the job is too big for him. Last season we conceded 50 goals in the league alone. We had a chance to change that in the summer, we let Reina go and we should have bought Fraser Forster from Celtic. He went to Southampton. When are Liverpool going to get the goalkeeper issue sorted. We need a top keeper who can properly communicate with his defence and kick the ball properly. Mignolet doesn't qualify in either of those aspects in my humble opinion. Bring back Ibe to play up front with his pace and get rid of Borini, that guy is next to useless.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You know what. People seem to forget the state our club was in before Rodgers was hired. There was no better alternatives than Rodgers. What was the owners suppose to do, hire Capoello? Fuck no. Some people were hoping for Benitez but honestly even to this day I'm glad that didn't happen. He had his chance and he did about as many weird transfers and tactical decisions any any other manager does. I believe the way forward is by going forward, not backwards. Just keep that in mind will ya please, we couldn't attract any better managers when we hired Rodgers, and we couldn't attract/afford better players last summer. Most of Rogers targets rejected Liverpool and went to Chelsea and Arsenal instead for other reasons besides our manager. Get real and get realistic guys. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Somewhat true that money talks, but rumours have it that we offered Sanchez and Barcelona more than Arsenal did. If that's true, then it goes to show that money is not the only important factor, the other factors I mentioned are also instrumental. Would DiMaria have gone to a 'lesser' club for the same money? Would he have gone if the manager was a no-name? I doubt it.

Many do say that, Man U are only marginally better than us. We also have to factor in their lack of a midweek European game. However, if they end up getting back into the Champions' League and we don't (and that will be largely on the back of our woeful transfer policy) then FSG and Rodgers will be feeling the heat come the end of the season, because the fans aren't going to take it lying down.

Last point. Liverpool have a success manual in front of them. We can either do what the Chelseas and Man Citys of this world do and buy up expensive established talent and be successful, or we can do what Arsenal have done for years, buy potential, develop them become a selling club and be spectacularly unsuccessful. There is no excuse! We can buy a talent mix. We can scout better. We can stop overpaying for British players. Its not necessary to spend £50M on every player, but spreading the money too thinly doesn't work (I'm thinking about Aspas, Alberto, Lambert, Balotelli). Five transfer windows, over £200M spent and our squad has not improved appropriately.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Definitely, Shaqiri would be a nice addition, but he's completely redundant. We have lots of cover on the midfield. We've been playing without a striker this season and it's so easy to see. But unfortunately it's not a matter of either a goalkeeper or a striker in January, we need both! Mignolet is a disaster, and Jones is no better. Sturridge is too injury prone and I'm not even counting on Lambert/Borini. Fixing just one of those two problems will get us no further.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with all of the above. Grobbelaar reckons we're chasing Ochoa. Some think this guy's not good enough.

It worries me that after the Swansea game Rodgers was saying there won't be much transfer activity. I hope he was lying. The Leicester result could be a blessing in disguise. The people at LFC need to wake up, we haven't yet turned the corner.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If the rumour is true, could we be chasing him to play as a striker. Some reckon he is clinical in front of goal, but I still think we need an out-and-out goalscorer.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Could have got him for less than Lallana. He is quicker too and has CL experience plus trophies to his name. We were heavily linked with making bids for Shaqiri so would be interesting to know who on the committee decided against signing him.

    ReplyDelete
  34. We can only speculate. But personally I don't think there is anything to this rumour, just something to write about for the newspapers so they can get their clicks.

Considering that Rodgers went as far as benching Mignolet in favor of Jones speaks for itself. I think he's being serious when considering a new keeper. Jones is nowhere near good enough to guard Liverpool's goal so he must have been really frustrated with Simon to do that against Man Utd(!) and Arsenal(!).

New keeper is almost certain to join, he might be satisfied with Sterling as backup striker should Sturridge get injured again, until the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Also the facor of Wenger vs Rodgers? Yes Wenger has gone off the boil but he a top manager and always gets his team to qualify for the CL.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is the reason B Rodgers is not the man to take the club forward at all:

The biggest problems this and last season for everyone to see is the:

GK Position The DM Position We need a World Class CM

    Another Mobile pacey quick striker

These players should be brought first players who through the transfer window should and they should be in this order:

Priority 1: Goal Keeper to dislodge/displace S Mignolet(26) from the first team and then to compete with him for the Number 1 spot week in week out:

A Begovic(27) Of Stoke should be brought for £10-£14M

Priority 2: Defensive Midfielder: A class mobile defensive midfielder is needed to be Upgrade on S Gerrard(34) and L Leiva(27) and to be at club for next 4-5 seasons:

M Schneiderlin(25) Of Southampton needs to be brought for £16-£21M to come straight into first team

Priority 3: A Top / World Class CM to replace the class and quality S Gerrrad(34) used to bring side back in his hey day:

I Rakitic(26) Of Barcelona or Y Cabaye(29) Of PSG should be brought to club for £16-£27M

All these three players are needed at club as priority before X Shaqiri(23), There is no point B Rodgers wasting £20M on X Shaqiri(23) before the other key positions are addressed as we have enough attacking players Markovic(20), Lallana(26), Coutinho(22) and Sterling(20) on books.

We do not have top Class GK in Goal or In the Squad, We do not have class mobile Defensive Midfielder in Squad and we have one world class Centre midfielder at club who is 7 years pastb his best and no longer has the energy, legs, mobility , pace or speed he had at his best which were vital components to how he controlled, dictated, dominated, scored goals and was a match winner from the centre of the park.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think LFC wanted to sign him last summer .. but his current club stop the move as they don want to sell him ... Shaqiri confirmed this himself ...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes but it is like Rodgers stating Balotelli was not going to join and look what happened. If am pretty sure if we really wanted Shaqiri then we could have signed him. Instead we overpaid for Lallana.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Unfortunately, benching Mignolet hasn't helped him. Sad. I'd be worried if he is satisfied with Sterling. Great movement. allows us to play the 'Liverpool Way' but it's a stretch to rely on him. We don't know what to expect from Sturridge for the rest of the season and if Sterling picks up an injury or suspension, that leaves Balotelli and Lambert +/- Borini....

    ReplyDelete
  40. Agreed. Wenger is probably to stuck in his ways, but definitely has been a great for Arsenal.

    ReplyDelete
  41. to an extent maybe its from upstairs.

    But the likes of

    Lambert..migniolet..Allen..Balloteli..Llana..Borini..lovren..sakho

BEST PART OF 100MIL and non of them can hold down a first team place

they are the works of BR..and he let Agger go???

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes i see what you meant ... but i still think Shaqiri case is based on his current club more than the transfer committees... but Balo case and others targets that we missed in the past was THEM .. IMO It took them too long to go for the players and hesitated to pay the asking price and most players ended up signed for another club ... It is very frustrated to be honest for always losing out our top targets just because we are very SLOW or no Confident on paying big money to non-british talents ...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh right! I forgot we had Balotelli, isn't that weird? :P Well anyway I don't see him getting another striker when we already have Sturridge, Balotelli, Lambert and Borini. But he manages to sell Borini then it's quite possible. Might be something in those Lavezzi rumous if it's true he's really going for £8m.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have to agree. I don't think we're aggressive enough in the transfer window. When I want to buy something, I do my extensive research, walk into the shop and then say 'I want that one'. What I don't do is go window shopping for hours on end and then go back to the first shop only to find that the item I wanted has sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  45. We spent £117m but failed to sign a dominant CB, proper defensive midfielder and a deadly striker. Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Apparently neither Rodgers nor Martinez believe in the DM role. Not sure how true that is, but it explains a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Rodgers could not figure out that Balo and Lambert up on their own was not causing the opposition problems too game after game and only recently decided that it was time to scrap the idea of a target man that was not even getting service :-o

    ReplyDelete
  48. Lol! Not so weird, barely gets any minutes these days. Lavezzi is a bit like an older Suarez without the goalscoring prowess. I think he can make a positive contribution and £8M is not prohibitively priced, but will he have a significant effect on our overall goal tally? I don't know. But his experience and drive would be useful.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yes we did spent a lot money on them but most of them is for FUTURE ~! LoL That's what they said ..but we missed out our TOP list targets but signed the 2nd choice ...

I agree with you that a proper DM is badly needed .. look at how Chelsea transformed from last season .. all their players still the same just added one Matic and Costa .. oh yeah i forgot C.Febergas ..

We just need to sign right players... quality is always better than quantity ... I don mind spend more money on the Right top quality players .. but i hate to say that they always put off with added a few Millions so buy some so so players ..

    ReplyDelete
  50. We haggled over Lallana for weeks and ended up paying Southampton what they wanted for him in the first place. He is a good player but not at £25m. If we offered him to another club now then who in their right mind will pay £25m for him. Same with Lovren, I would like to see him partnered with anyone else but Skrtel but which other club will pay £20m for him?

We need to stop going for players from teams who finish below us. We will always overpay and the only player we have had relative success with in such a situation has been Henderson but we also overpaid fro him!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Lot of people not happy about that- might not sign for them- allegedly

  55. Wonder why he didn't play Balotelli maybe rumours are true and he's off to Italy

    ReplyDelete
  56. Was not even on the bench. If he gets injured he will be going nowhere so the only inference is that his time is up at Anfield. More money pissed down the drain if that is the case as we will be making a loss on him.

    ReplyDelete

yer i hope so get rid of borini to an bring in boney and veito or daybala and keeper

    ReplyDelete
  58. Owners won't be happy but in order to progress we have to let go of maybe half a dozen Balo included- not his fault but should never have been here in first place

    ReplyDelete
  59. I said from the start that the signing of balo was going to end in tears. Not his fault but was never going to be suited to the way we play.

    ReplyDelete
  60. U seen the storm brewing over this guy Kramaric- we should try for him at 7m

    ReplyDelete
  61. Apart from a few young signings next season is rebuild phase back to stage 1 nearly there is no point in even thinking last season happened.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well ever since the slip he has played considerably worse...

    ReplyDelete
  63. If you could work that out, why couldn't the transfer committee? Sigh!

    ReplyDelete
  64. My plan would be by the end of the season would be

    1. Get rid of Rodgers and his backroom staff
    2. New manager or Coach and DOF
    3. Tell them to get rid of players who not good enough.
4.Use that money to Sign 3 top quality players (dominant CB, deadly striker and GK)

    5. Make more use of the academy like promoting Rossiter and Teixeira.
    6. Bring back the likes of Ibe, Ilori and Wisdom and even give Aspas and Luis Alberto another chance.

Rodgers and his yes men need to go.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Id sell Aspas Ilori and Alberto but you have the gist.

    ReplyDelete
  66. maybe they are on a percentage

    ReplyDelete
  67. We are not going to spend anymore money this season.

    ReplyDelete
  68. His old coach is calling the 'deal' football murder

    ReplyDelete
  69. Absolutely gutted to hear that Gerrard will be leaving at the end of the Season!!
Shaqiri however is a world class player and certainly capable of filling some of that void left by Gerrards departure. Signing him in January would make perfect sense and allow him to settle in before Gerrards departure. I still think Liverpool should have signed him in the Summer (2014) if not before. I rate him much more highly than Lallana and he is younger and cheaper too. No disrespect to Lallana but despite a few 'good' performances, he isn't worth £24+m considering Shaqiri may be bought for £20m

    ReplyDelete
  70. Aspas would have been a much better option than Balotelli. All our coaching staff should have done was just put him on a everyday Mcdonalds diet for a month or two to gain some weight.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I still don't think Ayre will get this one over the line.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Couldn't have put it better myself! Rodgers has moved to Liverpool like a crane driver swinging a wrecking ball and has demolished the team and brought in a host of near-do-wells who he he has either farmed-out or benched without showing what they can do. My only surprise is that in so doing he has conned you all into showing a lack of appreciation for our outstanding captain Steven Gerrard. To achieve this he moved Steven from the creative part of the team into the labouring department and has had him tarnished with their failure to work. Our principal owner Mr John W Henry also seems to have accepted the present situation by failing to replace the wrecker with a designer. I expect you to delete this criticism Jaimie but don't worry I will not be exercising your red pen again before Mr Henry sees off the singular problem that LFC currently suffer.

    ReplyDelete
  73. If we offered Sanchez a lot more money then chances are he would have come. Same with Di Maria. Although his agent has links to United.

It's a fallacy to say that Arsenal bought up youth. They have been doing that for quite a while but last time they won the league they had the most expensive team. Then they were using that successful team to add to and supplement but then when they had a ground to pay for it was all youngsters.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Nicolas Chamberlain12:25 pm, January 02, 2015

According to all the connaisseurs here -who never kicked a ball on a decent level, we will be back to our best in no time next season. We are playing so awful because of Gerrard, we are very volnurable because of Gerrard, we don't score enough goals because of Gerrard... etc. etc.
From next season on we are a club without a soul. By far the best and most passionate player I have ever witnessed in a LFC shirt. Henderson is a good luitenant but not a general. We will be an army without a general, and with the players we have bought and probably are going the future doesn't look that bright after all. After last season who could have expect we would be in so much trouble?

    ReplyDelete
  75. The problem is that Gerrard has been left to carry this club for ages and now with him leaving the club there is nobody to step up to the plate.

You cannot replace a player like Gerrard but we need more scousers in our team. Someone like Rossiter who has been at the club since a little boy should be given a chance to shine.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Nicolas Chamberlain12:31 pm, January 02, 2015

Lallana is class and a different type of player. Besides that he proved himself in the BPL. Markovic is more like Shaqiri. Shaqiri is a good player but nothing special. He is very inconsistent. We overpaid for Lallana, 5m or something, but he is our only good signing. The rest is still finding form or a comeplete waste.
Rodgers ruined our attack with Borini, Lambert and Balotelli.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Swansea was the agme that showed he is no longer a one man team

    ReplyDelete
  78. Its a decent goalie and defenders who can defend is what we need and that should be a PRIORITY

    ReplyDelete
  79. Nicolas Chamberlain12:41 pm, January 02, 2015

Its almost unimaginable. I don't like autographs and stuff like that but for Captain Fantastic I will make an exemption.
I need to travel to Melwood before the season ends.

    ReplyDelete
  80. We are still not going to go for top players in that situation. But players who are good value should be considered. Bony, Tadic, Mane etc who all had good stats before coming to the prem, all are strong, two are quick. I am not saying we should be signing everyone but these kinds of players who come in and hit the ground running for small fees are what we should be doing rather than signing Lallana (who I like) for £25m we buy a couple of those type of players then splash the cash where we can. But I don't see that happening either.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Precisely, their demise has coincided with them not buying established players. Wenger has expressed great frustration with developing players only for them to leave for clubs more capable of winning silverware just when they're reaching the top of their game. This is exactly what happened to us with Suarez. Why follow this model?

I'm not saying we should have gone for DiMaria, but to let a player of Suarez' calibre go and replace him with Lambert and Balotelli is unacceptable. In the past, my understanding is that we used to buy one established player and one potential star - sounds reasonable to me. Rodgers has had more than enough money available to him. We will always be in transition with our current policy, much like Arsenal have been in transition for the past 8 years.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Had a dream last night Stevie holding the FA cup aloft at Wembley on his Birthday ..... What a send off ! We dared to dream last year and it nearly happened - Is this the year the dream will come true ?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Imagine what a manager like Ancelotti could have done for us with £117m in one season or even Mourinho.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Well that depends doesn't it? If the check signers are not seeing value for money in certain areas (Bony, Eriksen) and are not offering big wages what can be done by any manager? Mourinho did spend something similar money wise. About ninety million it was. Include Matic who was signed in Jan and say 2014 singings and he spent as much if not more. Costa, Fabregas and Matic are very good but two cost over £30m and are on a couple of hundred grand a week. Matic is on pretty big money probably equaling Johnson. Are FSG willing to offer that kind of money? If you take those three players out the team what happens? Well we saw and severely out of form Matic, Fabregas and Costa yesterday and also saw the result. There are a lot of eggs in those baskets. We are still gradually introducing our signings. The data is not yet in on how good or bad they are. All we know is they were not instant success.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Winning trophies will allow us to offer the mega wages and that is what a manager like Ancelotti or Mourinho will bring.

Rodgers not the man to bring us years of success.

    ReplyDelete
  86. "I'm going to carry on playing and although I can't confirm at this stage where that will be," said the 34 year old Gerrard in his statement released today."I can say it will be somewhere that means I won't be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool. That is something I could never contemplate."

I wish Steven Gerrard the best in the next chapter of his playing career.I'm glad he isn't seeking a move to another PL club to try and get the only domestic medal missing from his collection.

    ReplyDelete
  89. No. Why did we get Markovic? We shouldn't have but he's already here so let's deal with it. Get a player that we NEED which is a _match winning_ striker. Lacazatte, Martinez or Cavani (whatever it takes) or don't bother.

  90. If we're not bringing in Shaqiri, then I guess we'll have to. Lallana and Sturridge are injury-prone, and Although Markovic is improving, Ibe is better and more suited to the EPL.

I can't believe we're not planning on bringing anyone in. Never has a team been more in need of a new 'keeper, holding midfielder and striker.

I can also understand why FSG wouldn't want to waste more cash given Rodgers'/the committee's track record. I guess they're probably just waiting until summer to bring in a new gaffer and give him a decent budget.

On the other hand 2-4 decent signings now, and we could have a realistic chance of top 4. Now our star player is leaving in the summer, bringing in anyone of any calibre will be almost impossible, so we might as well get used to mid-table mediocracy.

  91. Completely agree! I do rate ibe but as a prospect for the future. I don't feel brining him back early will benefit LFC or the player. Give him full season at Derby then pre season for LFC then if ready incorporate into the squad. If he wants to promote from within what about Suso!?

  92. Give Mario a run of games partnering Sturridge then and only then judge Mario.

  94. With a watertight defence one goal wins a football game. I'll say again get Cattermole, Shawcross and Begovic on loan and offer their parent clubs the choice of our newbies on a swap basis until we get a manager who will take the club forward. No cost involved!! AND also place Steve Gerrard in charge until the end of season with Sami as titular head coach with all necessary qualifications. At least we'll then be able to say SG was given the respect he earned.

  95. Gk and striker are the teams main priority ......not this guy ..as for gerrard good luck but if im honest it would be better if he went now because its gonna overshadow anything rogers tries.....i dont do sentiment for footballers im afraid the team must come first

  96. Instead of the great SG leaves,it is much better for Mr BR to look out for a new job.Jordan Ibe looks a talented player ,but it is a wait and see situation.

  97. Who are the players not good enough?

    Lambert,borini,Balotelli,Johnson,

  98. So I guess Suso really is going to be wasted talent? He hasn't even gotten near a chance to proven himself, and with Shaqiri supposedly coming in, I don't see a place for him anymore. I'm really not trying to say Shaqiri is a bad player, but why buy him now? This could be extra money going into a player that can fix up our defense, one of the most vital flaws in our play, but we are just adding to the amount of attacking mids we already have. Coutinho, Lallana, even Markovic and Sterling in some cases, I don't see why Shaqiri is being bought when Suso is still available.

  99. Prize money is not all that much that we start offering more wages Logan.

  100. Exactly. Why bring him back if he'll hardly play? And its right we didnt spend last January. And because we didnt bring in Matic and Chelsea did, we ended up losing the title.

  101. Jamie, how did you get £20 million figure for Shaqiri? Bayern are said to be asking for only €14 million. Even his market value is not £20M.

how can you sell illori. if he he has not played a game yet?

  103. UTD would not be the one of the richest clubs in the world if they did not win trophies year after year. Because of winning so many trophies over the years and being massively successful they get mega sponsorship deals.

The only way you become successful is to win TROPHIES.

We are not going to achieve that under Rodgers.

  106. Jamie, just out of curiousity, how did you get the figure "£20 million"?
It has been widely publicised Bayern are asking for €14M. Even his market value is not £20 million. I did ask this question yesterday but it seems my post was deleted.
