Barca flop to Anfield? Boss confirms LFC 'interest' in 'brilliant' attacker & tells BR he's very 'happy' at Stoke

Liverpool are currently linked with a surprise move for 'brilliant' ex-Barcelona star Bojan Krkic, but is there any chance of the deal taking place?

According to the Daily Mail this week, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is monitoring Krkic - who is a cousin of Lionel Messi - but when asked on Friday about Liverpool's interest, Stoke Boss Mark Hughes emphatically dismissed the possibility of allowing the Spaniard to leave. He told reporters:

"Don't bother [trying to sign him]. He's very happy. We have no intention of encouraging any interest in him. He's a big part of what we want to do, moving forward, so it's a non-story"

Liverpool have been linked with Krkic several times over the last year, but he neded up signing for Stoke for a ridiculously low fee.

Krkic is only 24 but he's already a bit of a journeyman:

* After failing to hold down a regular place in Barcelona's first team, Krkic moved to Roma for in a €12m deal, but made only 33 appearances in two seasons.

* After just one season, the Serie club loaned him out to AC Milan, who dumped him after one season.

* Barca then farmed Krkic out on loan to Ajax, where he chalked up just four goals in twenty-four appearances.

After signing Krkic on loan, Ajax boss Frank De Boer outlined what he perceived to be Krkic's main qualities:

"Bojan is a top player that we can really use. He is skilful, has good game insight and can score. We've added a very good player. I think he'll play right wing, but he can also be used as a left-winger or striker"

Krkic's versatility in attack will obviously appeal to Brendan Rodgers, but his career has clearly stalled after leaving Barcelona. The Spaniard is on record many times stating how much he loves the Catalan club, and it seems like he finds it hard to motivate himself to perform at the highest level for any other club.

That may be changing at Stoke City, but after Hughes' comments, the chances of Liverpool prising Krkic away seem slim. Money talks, though, and if the Reds go in with a £10m+ offer - which will represent a huge profit - Stoke may find it hard to resist.

  2. jamie, what do u make of brendan's recent remarks of balloteli not fitting his style of play?

  3. Another average player. Good for Stoke. Not for a top team.

  4. Borini put Bojan on the bench at roma so why would we want him?

    ReplyDelete
  5. So at which point was LFC's interest in him confirmed jamie k?

  6. This ship has sailed. If we wanted him we'd have got him in the summer. I'm sure he'd have come to us over Stoke if there was an offer on the table which suggests there wasn't. We've probably scouted him in the past, that's about it

  7. Only two league positions between an average side like Stoke and A top side like Liverpool. Just a thought...

  8. Totally agree :)

  9. Sterling rejects deal. If true, good riddance.

    ReplyDelete
  10. We have no need for Bojan.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Good riddance? Why? If you were Sterling, would you sign for a mediocre club like Liverpool?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Reports also say we are re signing Johnson i say let GJ go offer Sterling more keep Flanno Manquillo and maybe Wisdom.

  13. waste of time, print, typing and brain cells.......................

  14. If we have not signed anyone by now then it is safe to say we will not be signing anyone before the window has shut and that will be a blessing in disguise as Krkic can with the greatest of pleasure stay at Stoke.

  15. He doesn't though does he. He doesn't want to close down opponents and since the days of the legend that is Ian Rush, that is how we have played.
Complete waste of money and time. Never has been a top player and never will be. Those who say he needs time are deluded.

  16. "He was fully understanding. He saw the level of performance against Chelsea and in fairness to him he actually said it would be a struggle for him in terms of how he would play the game because he is a box player really.

Which begs the question as to why the f*** Rodgers agreed to sign Balotelli and why the deal for Remy was cancelled?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I can understand the club cancelling the Remy deal if they had real concerns over the medical but they didnt do their homework on Balotelli and should have went for a more suitable option.
Another piece of poor piece of homework on transfers and yet another panic buy whats new!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. But Chelsea never had any issues with Remy's medical?

When it smells like sh!te, looks like sh!te then it most probably is sh!te. That has been our transfer dealings this season. Everyone knew we needed a player who could bang in them goals whith Suarez leaving but Rodgers and the committee were far to interested in signing players we never needed.

  19. To be fair Chelsea can well afford to take these risks more so than us and it was pretty apparent that Remys game time would be limited at Chelsea.
This season he would have been expected to carry the attack with Sturridge injured but in saying that there is other options out there to both.

    ReplyDelete
  20. But why was Balotelli an option in the first place? Remy at £8m is far less of a risk even than Lallana at £25m who has not done enough and was not worth his fee.

Lovren and Lallana at a combined £45m is a risk. Lovren has already proven this.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am not saying we should have bought either Lallana or Lovren nor Balotelli because i thought they were not what we really needed especially at the price.
What i am saying is better options were out there that were achievable and that includes Remy.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Worst part is that we will only have another £100m or so available if we sell another Suarez. Sick of money being pissed down the drain with no return in success.

Only UTD spent more than us this season and we are not even in the top 4. Excuses should not be tolerated.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Agreed and with C.L too our best chance of attracting top quality also and they gave up on that after Sanchez.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not much we could do about Sanchez but instead of blowing almost £70m raiding Southampton Lallana, Lovren and Lambert whe could have flashed the cash for the likes of Lacazette and could have even Griezmann. Money talks.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Where in that article is Liverpool's interest confirmed....yet another misleading title Jaimie....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes there was quite a few Isco was possible last season too but not now there was plenty of options we overlooked and some were plenty cheaper than what we bought like Tadic or Alderweireld which makes me sick to the stomach.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Glen Johnson expected to sign a new 3 year deal.

That EPL tile is looking more and more likely under Rodgers :-o

    Welcome to mediocrity!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah wont pay Sterling but are going to offer this fool a decent a wage when we already have better unreal.

    ReplyDelete
  29. They wont offer Sterling much extra but pay this f*** wit a heap of dough to stay my god we have enough decent alternatives already without him.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Borini should be starting more matches as he offers us that fox in the box option. Try explain that to Rodgers though?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yet we paid £16m for Balotelli?

We are clueless and fact of the matter is that heads need to roll when the season has ended.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rather have alexander pato

    ReplyDelete
  33. What who is enjoying his career in Brazil? Pato would be an utter waste of time and money.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Liverpool offering him low wages for europes golden ball winner
    not sterlings fault

    ReplyDelete
  35. Similar to a David Silva type of player. I like him and would not mind him in the team. But a striker first.....please!

    ReplyDelete
  36. The thing is B Krkic(24) was a player we should have brought to club in the summer like C Eriksen(22), M Sissoko(25), A Song(27), L Remy(27), W Bony(25) and T Alderwield(25) who are top class players we have been linked with over the last few years who club did not try hard enough to get.

Who are better than most of the current average/mediocre players we have in squad and at club at the moment.

The transfer committee and I Ayre need to be sacked. They are pathetic and useless:

We struggle attracting world class players, but top class quality players are available yet we never try hard enough to get them.

Markovic(20) cost the club £20M in the summer, yet with that £20M over the last two seasons We could have got C Eriksen(22) Of Tottenham, B Krcic(24) Of Stoke, J Montero(25) Of Swansea and M Sissoko(25) Of Newcastle for that £20M

C Eriksen(22) Cost Tottenham £11M now worth double
B Krkic(24) cost Stoke £1.5M now worth ten times that
M Sissoko(25) cost Newcastle £2M now worth ten times that
J Montero(25) Cost Swansea £3-£5M now worth double

And its comical to say the least , where we over spend on average players or some descent players but we ripped off and end up making loss:

L Alberto(21) cost £6.7M when he was worth £3-£4M he will probably be sold for £3-£5M Loss

I Aspas(27) cost £7.7M when he was worth £5M at best, he will probably be sold for £4-£6M Loss

F Borini(23) Cost £10.5M when he was worth £6-£7M at best, he will probably go ONE DAY for £7-£9M Loss

J Headless Chicken Allen(24) Cost £15M when he was worth £7-£8M at best, if he is ever sold ( B Rodgers Love Child) we could get £5-£7M at best Loss

A Lallana(26) Cost £25M top class player, but he was worth £15M at best and we will never recoupe that money back.

L Markovic(20) cost £20M, he is class quality player but he was worth £10-£12M and that is what we should have paid for him. Over the years he may become £20M player but that is 2-4 years away at best

D Lovren(25) is a class quality defender who is low on confidence and has had to play 90% of season with clown G Johnson(30) next to him and the no protection of S Gerrard(34), J Henderson(24) and J Allen(24) most of the time. If he plays in side now for few games with L Leiva(27) in side he will get confidence and excel. Lovren(25) cost £20M when he was worth £10-£14M at best

The pattern is shocking, we are just throwing money down the drain and over spending on players who actually have not taken us to next level. A Lallana(26), L Markovic(20) and Lovren(25) will prove their class, quality and worth over the next few years but the other players mentioned were a waste of time and money.

Until the transfer committe and I Ayre are sacked, we will keep wasting millions on average dead wood players or young class players with potential.

  37. I would not place too much store on newspaper stories but it is a shame any negotiations are taking place in season.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Already a legend in his own tiny mind it seems. That mid season jolly to Jamaica looks to have backfired spectacularly - now he thinks he's the dog's bollocks.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree. My personal opinion, (and it is really just a guess since I have no inside information), is that Brendan did not want Balotelli, but the transfer committee thought it would be a low risk investment at the price. Yet, they didn't take into account that he did not fit our high pressing game. While BR did not want him, and having perhaps thought we would be losing Borini for 14m to Sunderland at the time, he probably couldn't say no to the purchase, as we needed a striker. If he had said no, and we didn't find another better option at striker, we would have been stuck with just Lambert and Studge (who has since been unavailable due to injury). Feel like he was stuck between a rock and a hard place...

  40. Liverpool FC Transfer Committee- Cletus , Ol Gil, Hans Moleman and Opie what could possibly go wrong

    ReplyDelete
  41. Me too, and I agree with Logan that he would be waste of money...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Stoke do not need to sell. For any price. There is no financial reason to and the player himself is getting back to his best. This is a non story.

    ReplyDelete
  43. We dont want him man
    Lacazette or Dyabla

    ReplyDelete
  44. Liverpool would be a sidestep so can't see him moving to be honest. Stoke pay good wages and he'd be the top man. It's not like Liverpool have Champions League football and I doubt they'll have it next season either.

    ReplyDelete
  45. sounds very much like the type of players Liverpool are looking at ,players who have had half/one good season in the Premier League........ yay

    ReplyDelete
  46. BR is sucker when it comes to looking for talent. He praises retards like Gj, Allen

    ReplyDelete
  47. Exactly my feelings !!
I couldn't agree more. Sack I Ayre and his team of fktards.
Fire the current scouting team asap !

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't ever want to put more than 15m on the table for a Serie A player ever again. Knowing that this kid will cost more than triple that, I'd like to wonder whether or not he scores 25+ goals a season or not. Remember, for that money we can buy Benzema, and if the rumors (Which I doubt) are true, we can replace Suarez. Yeah and Lacazette won't come to us, many other clubs will bid on him, including favorites PSG.

    ReplyDelete
  49. If mid table is the goal, our fronts office strategy is perfect...Sell all the deadwood still at the club and on loan and get 2-3 quality players and keep that kind of focus going forward. We have kids coming up and some here already so we don't need to get another crowd of mediocrity; just a spot of quality, ASAP!!!!!
