'We'll take a look': BR hints at LFC bid for 'world-class' €14m star. Sign ASAP to replace €12m misfit?

Earlier this week, the Agent of Chelsea outcast Petr Cech urged Liverpool to make a summer bid for the experienced stopper, and it appears that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers may be interested in trying to seal a deal.

A whole host of clubs are sure to be in for Cech, and on Monday, his agent, Viktor Kolar, appeared to encourage the Reds to make a bid:

“Liverpool need to strengthen their position in goal and they know Petr will be available in the summer".

When asked specifically about Cech on Tuesday, Rodgers told reporters:

"If there is a possibility of strengthening in January, we'll take a look, [But only] at the right type of player"

In my view, Liverpool should pull out all the stops to sign Cech. Even after his injury, €14m-rated Cech is a superior goalkeeper to Mignolet, and he has proven his quality over a number of years, at all levels of football.

Cech is sure to be a popular signing amongst Liverpool fans. In a recent poll on the site, 85% of 14000 (approx) participants votes YES to the potential signing, which is an emphatic vote of confidence in the Czech 'stopper.

Rodgers insists, however, that Mignolet still has a big future at Anfield. In his pre-Burnley press conference this week, he noted:

“I have not lost any belief in him [Mignolet]. He is still an outstanding goalkeeper, and I’m sure that he will be a better goalkeeper for it."

As Cech's back-up, hopefully...

  5. Mourinho is a funny man - he's so good at what he does it's under the radar and people get confused thinking it must be their own paranoia...

Mohamad Salah never even got a run really and there's talk now of him going elsewhere - we were in for him and weren't even really rivals (maybe as a one off at the time - just being realistic - sorry) still Mourinho goes for him at 15 odd mill which is peanuts for Chelsea to 'prune' any opposition......

They've scuppered or stirred the waters with so many of our prospective deals - pricing us out or promising something to turn players heads - if you believe this is wishful thinking on my part then you've either never read 'The Prince' by Machiavelli or you live in Disneyland....

.....hence and therefore I don't see Mourinho selling said goalie to 'ahem' a rival.......

....unless of course, and this is a boot in the balls, he thinks we're really so insignificant we wouldn't or couldn't win the premiership even if it were handed to us on a silver platter.......

  6. Screw ur believe BR,ur mignolet, allen, lovren, sakho, lambert, borini is getting liverpool backward and tons of loanee, transfer were never given a chance, even our u18 midfield and strikers are better than ur current transfer.

  7. Liverpool will be a step down for Cech atm. BR again targeted Balotelli during the press conference. He has lost it completely.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yet some think that more money should be made available for transfers in January? Does not even want to make use of Borini despite the form of other players. Which players will we attract at this point being mid table? We will just sign more bench warmers i.e. wasting more money.

Still believe that FSG will not be making any cash available to Rogers even if some players like Lucas or Balotelli had to leave.

Instead of rubbishing Balotelli in the media the whole time maybe Rodgers can think of ways to get more out of him other than letting him fail as a loan striker. Wonderful man management...

Why not? We will never be in title contention this season, and by selling/loaning Cech to us, it can help them, because we can stop their rivals City, etc...from beating us hence points dropped in the title race.

Damn right. Why not start Balo in a 343 formation? He looked dangerous when he came on as a sub against MU. We were playing with 3 upfront at that time.

Balo was deployed wrongly similar thing happened to Aspas and Sahin. Aspas is no. 9 but played as no.10 and Sahin is a defensive mid, but was asked to play as no.10. Balo played better with a striker rather than lone striker. Sometimes, you gotta wonder what's going up in BR's head.

  12. If we dont sign him that would be negligent to the extreme and would show the incompetence of everyone involved with transfers at the club, most importantly the manager. Its quite simple, if we do not sign him, we can forget about ever competing for the league title ever again

  13. <if you think sakho is shit then you clearly know nothing about fotball. And if u think our u19 players are better then the squad we have, you, yet again, clearly know nothing about fotball. You think you can just put them in a premier league game and they will perform better then any of the players you are talking about? hahahaha Get a grip

    ReplyDelete
  14. You clearly know nothing about fotball if you think Sakho is shit, and the fact that you think any of our u19 can perform better then any of the players on the a-team, is just fucking retarded. You have no clue do you?

    ReplyDelete
  15. My thoughts exactly. They sold Mata to United but only after they played them twice. A loan would help us against his rivals but wouldn't help us against them as he would be ineligible. That seems very Mourinho.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I haven't seen it. Did he target him or answer an inevitable question?

    ReplyDelete
  17. All you've got to do now is learn how to use the new "toy" you got for Christmas ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  18. It's not so simple. He has to want to come and Chelsea have to be willing to do the deal. Nothing is clear cut.

    ReplyDelete
  19. His middle name is Republik as well

    ReplyDelete
  20. He said Balotelli should get used to sitting on the bench. On Wednesday he said that Balotelli doesn't suit our style of play (as if Lambert does). You can try to defend BR by blaming on the questions asked but BR is really the culprit here.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We are not going to get Cech, well not in January anyway. Mourinho will hold onto him until the end of the season especially when they are on course to win the league. If something happens to Courtois now then he would need Cech.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nail hit on the head and it begs the question why Rodgers kept on persisting with Lambert and Balotelli up on their own game after game.

The switch back to the pressing game is not going to save Rodgers his job now, he should have thought about the switch many matches ago. He wants to go down in a blaze of glory.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Reckon Rodgers will stick with the same team for the match today but Burnley not going to be pushed over that easily, they are a decent side at Turf Moor. Our defence and midfield will most probably see us chase the game as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  24. He said neither of those forwards suite a passing style the other day. It wasn't just Ballotelli. What did he say specifically about Ball sitting on the bench? There is a difference between what's said and what's interpreted. I am all for criticising Rodgers for things he has done or hasn't done as it has led to poor results but it is worth not inventing things if they don't exist. Balo having to fight for a place in the team doesn't seem like all that bad an idea. The lad has to change in lots of ways to be a success at this club.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes and other players are already a success I guess? Its quite evident that BR has been onto Balotelli since the very beginning. He rants about Balotelli every time he gets a chance. If you see nothing wrong with that then good for you.

    ReplyDelete
  26. is it any wonder players lose form at Liverpool Rodgers handling of players is a disgrace from carroll to balo he just gets it so wrong ,Why would any decent player sign for Rodgers when he is always in the papers criticizing them .The players are not the problem they are being led by a manager who i wouldn't trust to run a bath...SACK RODGERS NOW

    ReplyDelete
  27. We will never compete for the prem when we have a manger who knows nothing about transfers, defense or management it was suarez who led them to second with Rodgers hanging on his coat tails

    ReplyDelete
  28. hes not a pressing players though its a pointless statement ...its like saying im not playing allen because he isnt scoring enough goals from headers

    ReplyDelete
  29. Not worth inventing things when they don't exist?

When asked how Balotelli would deal with being a substitute, Rodgers said: ‘It’s something he would have to. If the team is going to need him from the bench, then it’s something he would have to become adjusted to.

Nice way of building confidence in a player ain't it?

    ReplyDelete
  30. its not just balo rodgers has played certain players ( the easy targets ) in the wrong positions or rolls all year ...certain players at liverpool play with a stacked deck while some dont even get a card dealt

    ReplyDelete
  31. 'It is an old pitch that has not been upgraded for some years and it can be a disadvantage for us. It is difficult to play one-touch football on it.

'It is nothing to do with the ground staff at the club or at Melwood, who are outstanding, it is just because the pitch is old. We will do the best on it until the end of the season.'

Ha ha Rodgers, the comments get more daft as the interviews go on.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Mate he gets asked about Balo every single interview and so is likely to talk about him. Does he talk about another players he doesn't rate? Is he banging on about Can? No? Why? Because the reporters ask about him. The singling out is happening from Journos. Rodgers does need to learn keep more quiet though my favourite presser was last week's when it was four minutes of nearside word answers.
As for Balo it's been clear from day one he wasn't keen on him. Sh1t before he even signed but for whatever reason he was signed and Rodgers has to deal with a player who doesn't do very much of anything.
Tell me what aboutvthe presser was it that was untrue or got your back up anyway? I've just read it. Of it's him answering questions about Balotelli I agree he should keep it minimal but he will be asked about him every single time and that you need to get used to for as long as either of them are here.

    ReplyDelete
  33. there's an old Indian saying ...white man speak much say little .....its easy not to talk you just dont move your lips or has Rodgers not realized that

    ReplyDelete
  34. whats even funnier though is that by playing gerrard deepest ( mr long ball ball ) and playing one up front the team wasn't set up for a short passing game

    ReplyDelete
  35. he wont give anything a go .....why not try borini balo and sterling up front

    ReplyDelete
  36. if he doesnt start sako today he should be tarred and feathered

    ReplyDelete
  37. Inventing as in describing it as Rodgers having a go at Ballotelli at any opportunity. He gets asked questions. As for man management I don't know what will workl?

    ReplyDelete
  38. good point din jose will play rodgers like an old piano over cech

    ReplyDelete
  39. Usual BS from Rodgers. Becoming like Rafa, blaming everyone and everything else except himself.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Is it though? How much can Allen change that? Balo not pressing is not something physical he can't change. He could press more if he wanted to.

    ReplyDelete
  41. So why didn't Suarez lead us to second under Kenny? Why we're we not all that good until we signed Sturridge then the second half of the year we were better. Rodgers found yhe nest ways to maximise those players. He hasn't gotten the beetroot of who is left. That he needs criticism for but ignoring his part in last year is daft. Credit and criticism where it is due and both are and we're due.

    ReplyDelete
  42. But if he states that Balotelli does not fit the pressing game then why persist with him?

Is Balotelli going to be willing to give his all being told " If the team is going to need him from the bench, then it’s something he would have to become adjusted to."

That is like telling the player that he will be nothing but a plan B INSTEAD of trying to partner him with Sterling or Borini? £16m pissed down the drain along with the money that was pissed down the drain too when we bought Borini.

Rodgers is so arrogant he cannot help himself.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm confused man...Jaimie said he's Croatian, I'm merely correcting him :P

    ReplyDelete
  44. Lille apparently want something close to 7m Euros in fees to end Origi's loan early and hopefully we leave him where he is.

If we paid it we'd have effectively paid something like 15 or 16 million pounds for an "unproven young talent" who only has 4 goals in 24 games so far this season.

Lacazette would be great but I don't think we'd ever offer Lyon the sort of money that would tempt them.
When you consider he's in contract till 2018, he's scored more this season already than the whole of last season after moving from wide to central last season, he's only ever played for Lyon, he's said he's happy to stay at Lyon if they match his ambitions (they're currently 2nd in Ligue 1 and look like qualifying for CL if they keep it up, NOT like us!!) and the club owner/chairman (not sure what he is) has said they won't be selling him, I don't think Lyon would even look at anything under 40, or maybe even 50 million Euros for him.

Even if we could offer that sort of money for Lacazette, why would he want to move from a club where he's the top scorer in the league and looking nailed on to achieve CL, to come to LFC?

I'd love it to happen but I don't think it will

    ReplyDelete
  45. We weren't pressing in those games he and you have said so yourselves. I think looking for other ways to play is not a bad thing. What was bad was not scrapping it when it was clearly not working.
As for man management again We have no idea what will work. Best managers in the game don't know either. So when talking about arrogance perhaps Internet experts shouldn't be telling professionals what they did wrong and calling them arrogant unless they aware of the ridiculous irony of the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  46. rodgers played no part in anything suarez did apart from naming him on the sheet if Suarez had hit the same form under kenny kenny would still be manager .......it was a one off season for suarez and i doubt he will ever repeat it

    ReplyDelete
  47. Agent initiated rumour for leverage in Sterlings contract talks I'd bet.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Gerrard is Rodger's problem. He's compromised how he wants the team to play to accommodate him. It's the reason our defenders all seem so sh*t, and teams play against us full of confidence. It would be interesting if Jaimie did a poll to see how we should play Stevie - as a defensive midfielder or in the same way that city use Lampard. I suspect it would be overwhelmingly in favour of the latter. Stop putting square pegs in round holes - pay what it takes to get Cech and a proper CDM and let's try and salvage 4th place....

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's what pressure does to people.

    ReplyDelete
  50. A guaranteed start at Liverpool will not be a step down from guaranteed bench at Chelsea

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ridiculous irony of the situation when playing Balo up on his own clearly did not work from the start?

What, are you arguing the opposite or saying that Rodgers is not arrogant? You can only choose one.

    ReplyDelete
  52. look at his build hes built for short bursts hes a big guy, plus thats not what his game is based on, its like saying peter crouch should be a good goalie because hes tall

    ReplyDelete
  53. Not too confident about the Burnley game. They are a strong force at home and can easily beat us but if we pick the right team, we can easily get the points. Markovic, Lallana and Sakho have to play and I would play Balo up with Sterling if Lazar is not going to be played there.

    ReplyDelete
  54. My thought:

We need better goalie. Simple as that.

Defence needs improvements but it's a bit mess so won't say who should leave before everything else is been set up.

We play better without Gerrard. I'd like to see two new midfield players
    1. 2nd real defensive midfielder because Lucas isn't enough (would keep him though)
    2. Someone better than Allen let's say Nainggolan, Schneiderlin etc.

Our attacking midfield is actually pretty good. But we need better goal scorers: Bony, Lacazette etc. There are options. Ditch Balotelli, Borini and Lambert.

We have to act fast and do some radical chances.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not gonna happen

  61. Stuart, since B Rodgers reign he has brought in 7 to 9 players in both summers. Yet out of all those signings: Coutinho(22). Sturridge(25) have justified their worth to club and team. Can(20) Lovren(25), Lallana(26), Markovic(20), Moreno(22) and Sakho(24) may come good over time, they are all class players but have not done enough yet to justify the Manager spending the money he did on them.

Stuart, Quality should be chosen over quantity every time:

A Begovic(27) would offer more class and quality and concede a lot less goals than S Mignolet(26) and B Jones(32). Man United spent £19.8M on De Gea(24) two seasons ago, now he has saved them over 10 points already this season. Upgrade on: S Mignolet(26)

M Schneiderlin(25) has played with Lovren(25) for season and plays in the National team with Sakho(24), he would offer back 4 and GK, some real class quality protection to side and is also a class and quality with the ball. He has energy, mobility, bit of pace with him, has height, good tackler and breaks up play very well. Upgrade on : S Gerrard(34) and L Leiva(27)

I Rakitic(26) is a world class CM that we are screaming out for , the old S Gerrard(34) type box to box, class, creative, dictates, dominates, distributes ball well, game changer, goals in his locker and a match winner.

Those three players are top class and what we desperately need:

    Begovic(27) is a level below Courtois(22), De Gea(24) and J Hart(26) but Mignolet(26) is 3 levels below the top 3 GK's in the league.

Schneiderlin(25) is a good and effective as Matic(26), Fernandinho(29) and Song(27) as DM. S Gerrard(34) and L Leiva(27) lack the energy, legs, mobility, pace and speed that the best DM in world football need to cover ground

I Rakitic(26) is in the same calibre, class and quality of Fabregas(27), Koke(22), Kroos(24), Modric(29) and Yaya Toure(31).

    J Allen(24), J Henderson(24) and E Can(20) are three levels below those central midfielders

I Rakitic(26) would create and score more goals than J Allen(24) and J Henderson(24) together a season and he would control dictate and dominate more games then both of them also/

    K Bellarabi(24) is a German International in the same class as Schurrle(25), Willian(26) and Navas(28) .

P Aubamayeng(25) would offer club same mobility and more pace and speed in attack than D Sturridge(25) , P Aubamayeng(25) would offer the side more class, goals and quality than both R Lambert(32) and F Borini(23)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Liverpool XI: Jones, Toure, Skrtel, Sakho, Gerrard, Lucas, Coutinho, Henderson, Markovic, Lallana, Sterling.

Substitutes: Mignolet, Lambert, Moreno, Manquillo, Can, Balotelli, Ojo.

    ReplyDelete
  63. If Mignolet is 'amazing ' in training why am I amazed Jones is supposed to be better ....... ?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Agree with a fair bit of that but we won't be able to make that many signings. Not lease cos of FFP but also the owners won't sanction that much spend and I doubt the teams will sell.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Stuart, B Rodgers should be given £70-£80M in January or we can kiss champions league football good bye for another 5 years and every year Champions league brings minimum of every participant £22M, the further you get the more you make.

So if we don't make Champions league this summer, We will struggle to attact any world class players or top players and we will lose our best players who want to play in the best cup competition in the world now
