Agent confirms: 'World class' €18m star is 'waiting for LFC' to make an offer. Exciting deal?

Three months ago, Bayern Munich star Xherdan Shaqiri confirmed that Liverpool tried to sign him during the summer (for €18m), and with the January transfer window only a few weeks away, Shaqiri's agent has given the strongest indication yet that he could be on the move.

When asked on Thursday about Shaqiri's future, his agent told reporters:

"At this age, he [Shaqiri] needs to play regularly, which is not currently the case. We are now waiting [for] Liverpool, Manchester United, Inter Milan and other top clubs”

In September, Shaqiri - hailed as 'world class' by Munich's Sporting Director Mattias Sammer - told reporters:

“Liverpool made a bid for me before the World Cup but Bayern put their foot down and told me, ‘We’re not going to sell you"

Soon after, The Mirror claimed that:

* Bayern have 'sounded out' LFC, Arsenal, Napoli and Atletico Madrid over Shaqiri.
* The club is willing to loan out the attacker in January.
* The German giants want a €2m loan fee, with a €14m option-to-buy attached.

Shaqiri is averaging a paltry 32 minutes of pitch-time per game this season, and with the huge array of top players at the Allianz Arena, that's unlikely to change anytime soon. It's been this way for three season now, and for the sake of his own personal development, Shaqiri should (IMO) do everything he can to secure a transfer away.

Alas, if it comes down to a straight battle between Arsenal and Liverpool, then there's probably only going to be one winner. Arsene Wenger remains a huge draw for top players, and presence of players like Ozil and Sanchez at the Emirates will probably be a huge attraction. Plus, there's the London factor to consider, which is one of the main reasons Sanchez chose the Gunners over the Reds this summer.

That said, after wasting so much money over the summer, a €2m loan deal is just what Liverpool need. Shaqiri will have to prove himself to earn a permanent deal, and that means he'll have to play out of skin to achieve that, which can only be a good thing for the Reds.

Shaqiri's agent has basically issued a 'come and get me' plea to Liverpool, so the ball is now in Rodgers' court.

It'll be interesting to see how the Reds approach the situation in January...

  1. Hopefully we can get him. We need his tenacity back in our team which has Been badly lacking since you know who left.

  2. I wonder which would have been the better deal, Shaqiri or Lallana?

I am leaning towards Shaqiri as he is younger, would have cost less and playing for a top club. Recon he would have done really well in the EPL but still do not believe FSG will be making one penny available in January unless it is spending money on a new manager and his backroom staff.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Another reason why I do not believe FSG will be spending anymore money this season is that we just have far to many players on loan. Adding more players to the squad will just hemorrhage the wage bill.

Aspas, Assaidi, Luis Alberto, Origi, Ilori, Wisdom, Ibe and Coates. 8 players which four of will be very difficult to get rid of. Pretty sure Origi, Ilori, Wisdom, Ibe and Origi will be part of the setup next season.

    ReplyDelete
  4. We only have one Origi but the likes of Aspas Ilori Alberto Assaidi Coates Enrique GJ and Borini are gone also maybe Balotelli.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Johnson will leave on a free as well as Toure but we will be struggling to get a good price for Balotelli, Enrique probably is on a fat wage too so finding another team who offers the same wage, again we will struggle.

Borini has made it clear he wants to stay and fight for his place but maybe if a team from Italy came knocking then we could see him go but he is not going to move to one of the minnows over there either.

Assaidi did not move on because Stoke did not want to meet his wage demands and we will struggle to get rid of Aspas and Alberto unless we sell them for peanuts.

FSG have surely now learnt their lesson? Making more money available for Rodgers and the committee to bring players in who will be sitting on the bench should not even be thought of.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The money was there Loges for at least 3 quality signings and Manquillo and Moreno which filled places we need.
I think the transfer committee need to look at themselves i can remember Rafa saying you always get a lot more value out of one 20 mill pound signing than 2 10 million and generally he was right.
Of course he made some bad errors but we got some rippers too unfortunately the 20 million playewrs are now over 30 but thats inflation.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Johnson, Aquilani, Keane,..

This club has not only this season pissed loads of money down the drain but season after season before. Rafa always went for quantity like 10 players a season.

Rodgers has been like a kid filled with money in his pocket walking through a candy store this season.

    ReplyDelete
  8. He actually mentioned that before Aquilani who was injured an injury prone that was a real brain explosion but we still got good years from GJ Mascherano and Torres .
As for Keane well not so sure he picked the right type but he could have been given more time.

  9. Was so looking forward to seeing Xherdan playing with Liverpool this season, after all the hype that B.R wanted him.Hopefully the best negotiator in the world of football Ian Ayre can get the job done.Ohhhh Noooo

    ReplyDelete
  10. Rafa should have went for 3-5 decent signings a season plus made better use of the academy.

If it was not for the sale of Suarez then Rodgers would have spent less than half of what was made available to him this season. Thinking of it now, we could have tempted 4 really top players with money this season but we decided to spend £66m of that on raiding Southampton and bringing in Balotelli who did not fit in with our style of play. Disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes agreed i would like to add too that the signing of Suarez started during Rafa or Hodgsons reign they had identified him as a target then.
Loges i cant see them spending big on more than 1 player a window and we are still going to see more Albertos and the like.

    ReplyDelete
  12. unless we can bring in a manager who can attract bigger names. FSG have shown they will back their manager but if they back Rodgers with anymore funds then they are on cheap drugs.

    ReplyDelete
  13. sterling studge origi can marovick and xherdan all in ther same team with balo, lall, countiho and ibe on the bench would frighten anyone !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I dont know whats going to happen there but a change to the wage structure may well be a deciding factor too if we possibly can get a goody then toss the cash at him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. If Utd is interested, there is no way we are getting him, especially with our negotiating team. But, this would be the time for the team to step up and counteract the criticism it has faced. if we get Shaqiri under the noses of Utd, it would be a huge statement of intent.

    ReplyDelete
  16. This will be a good signing. Should have been a part of Reina deal.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Nevergonnacrackthecode7:56 am, December 19, 2014

Their might be a slot for Shaqiri if Sterling can successfully convert into a striker
but i still wnat another striker instead

    ReplyDelete
  18. To me bringing in Shaquiri now would be the same as giving up on Lallana and Markovic. We bought them in the summer and not Shaquiri and now we should at least give them the chance to improve or show us what they can do. I can only say that what I've seen of Markovic so far gives me hope. Sure he's a hothead and does stupid things but he's also a player who plays with a lot of intent and hunger to win. Now where have we seen that before? As for Lallana, the guy played really well last year and he didn't pick his own pricetag so the way I see it he can't have turned bad over the summer. When we improve in January we have to improve where we are weak, not our squad. We're weak in goal, in front of our defense and up front. A gk, a dm and a striker would be my choice.

    ReplyDelete
  19. BR wants Lacazette, Cabaye, and Perrin in goalkeeper.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Or Reina part of the Shaqiri deal, but I do get your point;-)

    ReplyDelete
  21. If that's true, that's at least another 40 million in transfer fees. I cant see that happening 5 months after spending more than 100 million

    ReplyDelete
  22. I feel like Singing any attacking player from Munich will secure top 4 for Liverpool this season.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nevergonnacrackthecode8:32 am, December 19, 2014

    Cant see Cabaye
but PAERRIN AND Lacazette fit the Fsg philosophy
i think fsg willo be willing to spend on one forward
they only gave 35m net in summer which is simmilar to west ham

    ReplyDelete
  24. It all depends on whether FSG back him for next season. They're also looking for loans. If FSG don't back him for next season then no, don't expect the above players to be pursued.

    ReplyDelete
  25. BR is in dreamland if he thinks he is going to get another £40-£60m to spend. If we he really wanted Lacazette then we should have signed him while we had all the money at the start of the season. Now Lacazette will cherry pick his next team and doubt we are even on his mind.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nevergonnacrackthecode8:36 am, December 19, 2014

Problem with Shaqiri is he always cuts in we have players who can do that

we need players who can go past a man get to the byline and pull a cross back Lacazette is probably that man i think Bony will be too expensive

    .............................................Lacazette
    .............................Sterling/Coutinho...........Lallana
    Markovic........................Can.....................Gerrard..............Henderson
    .....................................Lovren...........Skrtel.........Johnson
    .....................................................Perrin

    looks good to me

    ReplyDelete
  27. I made a post yesterday that if FSG don't back him for next year, then no, he won't be given an opportunity to sign those players. January will be an indication of whether he's being backed or sacked.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nevergonnacrackthecode8:39 am, December 19, 2014

The thing is at that time Lacazette had only one good season
i am against buying players like that as they normally need time like Allen,Henderson, etc

now Lacazette has had almost 2 good seasons like Bony(at highets level)
i think we should buy them as they are established

we are not as small as people portray us 99% of footballers would move to lfc
only Paris st germain,Bracloena,Real madrid,Arsenal,Man utd,Bayern munich ,Man city and Chelsea are more attractive then us

    and possibly athletico,dourtmont and spurs

    ReplyDelete
  29. We have players who cat cut in, true, take Sterling for example, cuts in brilliantly then takes a shot then.... I guess you know what happens then!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nevergonnacrackthecode8:41 am, December 19, 2014

the thing is it does not matter who the manager wants the new manager will ahve to take players from the committee
so they can buy a player they think is right despite who is manager
it is a similar practice to the ones at spurs and sunderland where they buy players and tell them to make do

    ReplyDelete
  31. We need Koke a lot better than crack but more expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am a fan of Twistadee's work ethic.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Koke come to LFC? Rodgers might have to hire a Ancelotti or Mourinho mask to make that happen.

    ReplyDelete
  34. We have to remain optimistic although sometimes it gets the better of all of us.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Robbed is the biggest diver on the planet we don't need that sort

    ReplyDelete
  36. We dont have the tall target men to cross high into the box to Lambert is only a plan b also the idea is to get the ball into the box as quickly as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i doubt this is true

    ReplyDelete
  38. Even Moyes got more points out of his team last season compared to what Rodgers has this season out of LFC and we knoew how sh!te the were under Moyes plus he had to fill the boots of Fergie. It just further paints the picture of how we have regressed in such a short time and along with that spending almost £120m?

Sorry but optimism does not exist in my eyes at the moment. Rodgers needs to go.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Point is that Delph is the only type of player Rodgers will be able to attract.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nevergonnacrackthecode9:24 am, December 19, 2014

I reckon Morgan Schniederlin is the perfect replacement
    Song second choice

they were both boyhood lfc fans so maybe that will help

    ReplyDelete
  41. I understand that but also Loges the only way forward well and truly is to dump the deadwood and get the likes of Koke Benzema etc.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Couldn't agree more.
but the problem is BR will never sign a proper DM.
I'd say cut the losses and sell our misfiring italian strikers and get a proven goalscorer in.
The money to buy a Goalkeeper should be here, but i hope it's nor this Perrin-guy

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nevergonnacrackthecode9:26 am, December 19, 2014

we dont buy world class players we create them
Sterling if coached properly has the potential to eb a great striker
While Markovic could eb as good as Koke

    ReplyDelete
  44. How about we forget about Sth ham players for a while you know theyll only charge us top dollar plus for him, plus he will probably do a Lovren on us.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Someone fresh will get better results out of our squad and could even look to the academy than spend another £100m. Rossiter or £15-£20m on Delph? I know what my choice is going to be.

    ReplyDelete
  46. FSG may as well buy the whole of Southampton.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I sincerely doubt Markovic will ever be that good also clubs are not silly they dont want to sell potential world class talent for bugger all.
Potential is a funny word in football most dont fulfill it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. we have a lot of problems (i.e. wrong formations, no rotations, bad man-management) but you can't really blame BR for not being a name in world football...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thats understandable but all i am saying is world class talent usually always delivers.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That has got us so far has it not. Sterling will never make a good lone striker because he does not have the skills to hold the ball up and involve others. Markovic and Koke play different positions so you cannot compare.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes but we know now that another big transfer kitty and we will have more bench warmers.

The solution is to bring in a manager/coach who can get the best out of our academy or someone who will attract big names. Rodgers will not take this club forward.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Be cheaper to buy the club than the whole team,

    ReplyDelete
  53. Haha yea man, the research involved in getting everyone's age must be time consuming

    ReplyDelete
  54. Markovic will be really good only if we have the right coaching for him. Even Emre can being as young as he is will not get to the next level unless we have footballing brains running the show.

Rodgers and Pascoe and his other yes men?

    or

    Cruyff and de Boer etc?

I know the second option is going to be a very difficult one to acquire but will revolutionise the way this club is run.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Koke is just about going to be the best mid there is he is almost there already at 22 if they were to swap him for Markovic id take that without a second thought.

    ReplyDelete
  56. i think BR is having a hard time, when it comes to transfers...

First of all, we're not really attractive for top class footballers. Alexis Sanchez didn't want to come to us, neither did Song. I guess there is a huge list of good players we tried on but couldn't attract them...

Furthermore the transfer committee clearly isn't working the way it should be. I personally think it's really unfair, that BR has to take all the blame for failed transfers as he hasn't got the final say on everything.

    ReplyDelete
  57. i'm pretty sure using Rossiter is in Rodgers plans

    ReplyDelete
  58. I like Markovic. Pure pace and has that element of producing a moment of magic.

The phrase 'striker' is written on his forehead but Rodgers will experiment with him at LWB. I want to see 3 at the back working when we play Arsenal on Sunday :-o

    ReplyDelete
  59. I do not think Rodgers is in FSG's plans for much longer.

    ReplyDelete
  60. He won't take all the blame though. If Rodgers goes the committee goes with him.

Rodgers could have said no to signing Balotelli but went ahead with it anyway. He needs to go.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Nevergonnacrackthecode9:53 am, December 19, 2014

Exactly Williams would have suited us more then sakho we may have even won the league he has leadership and good at passing
while Bony is way betetr then Balotelli
    but comitee thinks differently

    ReplyDelete
  62. Nothing wrong with learning the game elsewhere on the park it gives you a different often better perspective on your game.
I know you want get rid of Rodgers but if you dont want the next Hodgson then i suggest you wait it out till seasons end.
One other thing is regardless of the manager this team still lacks outstanding players.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I disagree, if Rodgers makes better use of his players instead of continuously selecting his mates or players that are warming up to him then we would not be sitting mid table.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Pick a group of teams in the EPL 3 in fact of the best 11 by position in the league this season if your honest there wouldn"t be a Liverpool player in it.
Sterling would be the closest but his statistics are unflattering.

    ReplyDelete
  65. You can have the best players in the world but if you have a team that lacks confidence, has no identity and is run with 'favourites' being picked plus a style of play that makes west ham look like Real Madrid then what do you get?

    ReplyDelete
  66. But i am saying individually none of them has taken the league by the scruff of the neck.
You can blame the manager all you like but he cant kick it for them.
These are highly paid professionals playing at a big club we deserve better than they are serving up.
They need to take the most responsibility too for their own games they are paid big money not to hide behind the manager when the going gets tough.

    ReplyDelete
  67. So just because Suarez left and Sturridge being out Rodgers decided to completely change the way we played last season? The tactics, team selections and mentality of our manager this season would have seen any team struggling. Just go back to BR's first season. Are you telling me that the squad he was given when he took over from Kenny was better than the Squad Rodgers has now?

Bring a manager who is not so stubborn and delusional and our current squad will be much better off.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The squads deeper there is supposed to be more quality in the second 11 of players which actually there is.
The team was built around Suarez and funnily enough you've just agreed with what i said earlier about having world class talent.
You talk about confidence then get the players to see a sports psychologist or otherwise they harden up.
Since Suarez has left for all he achieved one other thing that is missing is mongrel toughness the desire to win at all cost this lot are softies generally.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I am not here to convince you about Rodgers you are like a dog with a bone on that issue.
But Loges have a look at the talent and ask yourself how could we do what we did last season and nothing now.
The players must take responsibility too this is probably the softest Liverpool team ive ever seen.
Also likely the most over rated ability wise.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Well each to their won. Can, Markovic, Sakho and even Borini will show 100 times more passion and ambition than some of the regulars who know they will start irrespective of how bad they are playing. Team spirit sky high my arse. Even Toure has showed more balls than Skrtel and Lovren and Johnson combined.

I reckon even Sam Allardyce will produce better results with the squad we have at the moment. That is just me.Taxi for Rodgers.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Borinis nothing nada scored mostly penalties at Sunders Markovic has a couple of good showings against nobodies now hes the savior.
But its good your starting to realize that the team has a heap of softies.

    ReplyDelete
  72. There is no replacement for Gerrard. There is no replacement for Suarez. The sooner we realize that, the better..

    ReplyDelete
  73. But you need a manger who can sort out the mice from the men. Not a manager who is best mates with a certain group of players.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yeah well i agree with that to a certain point but you will have to wait until seasons end to get your wish that is if things dont turn around.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Well Balotelli was a mistake, but there were many people on here - including myself - we're in favour with us signing Balotelli. As Rodgers said, by signing him, the club took a risk. It could have worked, but it didn't. Cut the losses and move him on

Don't get me wrong - I'm not backing Rodgers in the slightest but he can't be blamed for every single thing that's going wrong at the moment.
I am specifically angry with Rodgers because of our display in the Champions league. His team selection against Basel was utter madness.
Only BR is to blame for 6 shocking performances and an early exit in the CL.

If we find a good alternative to Rodgers (someone who has experience at the top level and who can attract quality players) I've no problem with that. But unless we find a top quality manager, BR should stay here and try to turn things around. Last season we all saw what a team under BR is able to do. we played the best football I've ever seen at Liverpool, it was a joy to watch us playing football. People seem to forget what BR has done.
Now please don't come up with this "Suarez carried the team - sh*t"

    ReplyDelete
  76. How are things going to turn around? If we do not even have the same amount of points as the mancs last season after 16 matches then whoever thinks we are going to finish top 4 are in denial. We were 8 points ahead of them at the same stage last season and we are 10 points behind them this time round.

    TIME TO FACE REALITY.

    ReplyDelete
  77. depends on the alternatives

    ReplyDelete
  78. Who says hes sacked if we dont make top 4 i would not believe that for a moment.
But Loges there are many scenarios to play out, too many to contemplate lets wait and see on that hey.
Reality is what happens in the end not half way through.

    ReplyDelete
  79. BR might be lucky and get til the end of the season. he will not be at the club come the start of next season.

Let's see if my prediction is true.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Man not that long ago you defended him to the hilt. Now fat Sam is better? You have become a parody of yourself Logan.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ok nostradamus who is going to be new manager and who is the new players we are getting.

    ReplyDelete
  82. We will return to this discussion either in January or when the season is over ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Of course it depends on who else is available.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I have taken off my rose tinted glasses.

Rodgers has proven he cannot take the club forward.

    ReplyDelete
  85. We seem to forget what BR has done when he has returned to the way we played in his first season.

I have stated in this thread that there was no reason for Rodgers changing the way we played last season because of Suarez leaving and Sturridge being out. Go find the post.

Rodgers is delusional and has created a 'the team did well' mentality.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Sounds like they were ripped off

    ReplyDelete
  87. I don't think its necessarily Liverpool as a club that is the problem, it seems more likely that Liverpool as a city is, or its location. Overseas players want to be in London, Sanchez said it. You can't really think Song picked West Ham over Liverpool because West Ham are a bigger club?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Except that Williams basically openly said he hated Suarez, and wanted to punch him. Not the kind of squad harmony I would want to see.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Still no idea what he was thinking when he went to a 4231...
you know that in this case i agree with you, he got it all wrong this season.
I'd take Rafa back without batting an eye, as I think he's the best manager avaliable. De Boer could be interesting too

    ReplyDelete
  90. yep, the city is a huge factor

    ReplyDelete
  91. I have made my opinion about Rafa clear on many occasions. Not going to solve our problems.

We need to stay clear of manager at team who finish below us and need to stay clear of the past. Simple.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I'm a huge admirer of Rafa, so I'm kind of biased here ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  93. and then we bought a player that is known for throwing darts at others

    ReplyDelete
  94. If they don't want to come to Liverpool then stuff em- trust me there's a lot of London is an absolute shithole - have u been to Harlesden? The majority of these players dont actually live in London they have their mansions on the outskirts. If they want the glam lifestyle then go to London clubs we want players who want to play for a 5 time European champions team

    ReplyDelete
  95. I agree with you, but I'm just saying with London being the capital its a lot more enticing.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yea, but that was only at Youth team players so it's fine.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Sanchez will get the fright of his life if he goes walkabout around Emirates but I do know what u mean- still Liverpool has an airport - play football 8-9 months and holiday the rest

    ReplyDelete
  98. Brendan said 5 sentences in his last press. Maybe he has been told that other managers are contacted...

    ReplyDelete
  99. BR's under a lotta pressure and it's beginning to show .... probably been told by owners that he has until end of season to shape up or ship out . Now time to get the results Brendan !

    ReplyDelete
  100. Jus read that Rafa has recently turned down 2 job offers- didn't say who and that he remains committed to bla bla bla

    ReplyDelete
  101. Rafa wouldn't turn us down, that's for sure

    ReplyDelete
  102. "I am not
thinking about the January window at the moment to be honest."
    these were his last words...

    ReplyDelete
  103. Maybe he hasn't been asked - yet

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think the main problem has been lack of confidence with our crap defence / goal keeping which has not yet been fixed ... We have been scared to go forward and press because when we lose ball and they counter we are always in danger of conceding . Last season we got away with it because we had the fire power to come back with the goals . Against MU and Bournemouth we played this way and look what happened ....... MU took their chances but Bournemouth failed to . But I'm sure this is the style of football we all want to see !

    ReplyDelete
  105. That Alonso Barry thing, what is your opinion of it?

    ReplyDelete
  106. That issue doesn't put me off Benitez, but I still want Rodgers to succeed with Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I think it depends on results before Christmas ... a win against Arsenal is a big one for him . No doubt owners are putting feelers out - just hope they are not panicked into getting a wrong un ! Will be more options at end of season

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hard to think about when you won't have the money ...
or worse still not in a job !

    ReplyDelete
  109. I actually think Delph would be a good addition to our team. He's technically skilled enough for the job. As for 'Gerrard-replacement', Iike Neymar or Kaka Mk1.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Nevergonnacrackthecode2:15 pm, December 19, 2014

    no to delph just no
brendan will lose the whole fan base if he sells can for delph

    ReplyDelete
  111. Worrying that he is sticking with Jones .... Migno should be in for this one

    ReplyDelete
  112. Good, he should leave asap.

    ReplyDelete
  113. More than anything, we quality need depth at striker. However, quality strikers are so rare, and their transfer fees are well beyond what Liverpool are willing to pay these days, not to mention wages. All Liverpool can hope for is budding talent, which we have plenty off. Given this, I think a move for Shaquiri would be a good one. He isn't a striker per se, but hopefully he can be utilised with Sterling up front. He isn't tall, but he is stocky, strong, and extremely quick. Him and Sterling creating movement and stretching the back line might just see us playing a little more like the way we were playing last season. Markovic also seems to be improving based on his last couple of performances. I'm hopeful.

  114. It seems worse than that from the outside. Like you have to be wholly one thing or the other. There seems a lack of balanced discussion instead from praise and defence to attack. Things you were arguing last year like young players can't be judged so soon has nearly gone out the window. Nothing is ever as simplistic as people on message boards on the internet make out. Anyone calling the manager arrogant and telling him what he should do is not realising the blatant irony of the situation. Rodgers has gotten things very wrong and may not be the person to take us forward but coming on these boards to repeat yourself day after day is just a bit nuts.

The away fans at the Bournemouth game were signing Rodgers name. He may not be the answer to our aspirations as a club but they as always have shown the class that most of us lack.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I was even behind Rodgers in his first season when some thought FSG were out of their minds making Rodgers manager.

Unfortunately Rodgers has shown his true colours i.e. he is out of his depth. I am not going to write jovial things when i am not happy.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Never, Balotelli only frightens teams when he is sat on their own bench.

    ReplyDelete
  117. And how is that working out?

    ReplyDelete
  118. lewandoski would, the midget will not.

    miss Rafa Benitez so much
    Greatest manager

    ReplyDelete
  120. Sakho is quality and his passing is better than any of our other centre backs. He passes with conviction and uses both feet. The guy is a bloody good player, some just find it almost impossible to see or admit it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. i dont have a problem with delph hes a decent player as long as we don't pay top dollar ......you cant replace players since ive been supporting liverpool we have been trying to find the next hansen, case, souness, mcmahaon, rush, dagleish , barnes, hypia, etc etc the key to success is just buying good players at the right price all this finding clones of idols is futile clap trap

    ReplyDelete
  122. i think song stated publicly he wanted to join liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  123. hes an ego maniac whose opinion of himself is way out of kilter with reality .....listening to him you would think he invented tactics when in reality he shows very little tactical acumen and even less acumen on recruitment

    ReplyDelete
  124. the jones/mingo saga represents everything that is wrong with the Rodgers tenure 200m spent and we have two keepers who for me look no better than keeper you see in at amateur level

    ReplyDelete
  125. If Harlsden is the worst then it's no surprise they want to go to London. Like was said above, millionaires live in nice areas, whether they are in London, Liverpool, Manchester....ok, maybe that last one was pushing it!
What makes a difference is the likelihood of there being a large Chilian community in London where Sanchez's wife can make friends and generally not feel alone in a strange city. There are bars and clubs and restraunts, fitness groups etc catereing for every tiny niche group in London that they just don't have in Croxteth.

    ReplyDelete
  126. the saints are great window dressers and make average stock look more expensive to the naive buyer when in reality the goods they sell are either second hand or fire damaged

    ReplyDelete
  127. Balotelli(24) is a world class player, yes He is Lazy, Yes he had issues back in the day. But Balotelli(24) surrounded by top class quality mobile pacey quick attackers in front of him and near him week in week out will prove he is world class.

    ReplyDelete
  128. i still think in the right system under the right guidance balo could prove his value .......

bARRY IS A VERY GOOD PLAYER, AND ALONGSIDE aLONSO WOULD OF BEEN GREAT - THE FACT THAT bENITEZ WANTED HIM AS A REPLACEMENT WAS JUST TOO MUCH

    ReplyDelete
  130. Liverpool should quickly pay the loan fee and take the wizkid to Anfield. We could get another SAS in Sturridge and Shaqiri - O yes!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. this guy doesn't even know what offside means... he's got the body of a n adonis is 6 ft 2, yet he only manages to win only 10% of areal duels. he has over 30 shots without a goal. good players can adapt to other systems, he can't because he's nothing more than a giant baby with a decent first touch

    ReplyDelete
  132. He cost us 9 mill. with apparently 2 mill. additional bonus for appearances - probably he is nearing his first team quota and we are trying to save money by demoting him ? Especially if we are about to sign another keeper .......
I personally don't think he has improved at all and no worse than when we first signed him .

    ReplyDelete
  133. If Sterling converts to a striker, then we can sell all of them except Sturridge and Lambert, and just bring in Bony. We'll have Sturridge and Bony for our main CF, Origi and Sterling to play on their shoulder, and Lambert as our resident veteran (much like Carra or Toure were for the Defense).

However, I honestly see Sterling as more of an AM. With him, Cou, and Lallana at AM, that seems more natural squad depth. Marko and Ibe are the only 2 guys that I see have a legit future in the wings, so Shaqiri wouldn't be a bad addition.

You are right though. If Sterling stays at AM, then we'll have Sturridge + Someone (Bony, Martinez, etc.) at CF, and Origi + Someone (Borini maybe, Lacazette, Giovinco, etc.) as SS. It just depends on how many strikers we want to buy, and where we see Raheem's future.

    ReplyDelete
  134. barry is quality but he's not even close to the level xabi is playing for over 10 years now. I could never understand why we sold Alonso...

    ReplyDelete
  135. if Sanchez had signed for us he wouldn't be visiting Croxteth same as he wont be visiting Harlesden unless driving through - (other side of town completely) we should be selling Liverpool FC as 5 times European champions and not as a nice place to go wining and dining. you know if that's what a player wants then we don't need em. Oh and it's not the worst by far but it is a dive

Why are using half my name?

    ReplyDelete
  137. whats strange is that with the system that rodgers plays mingo is least qualified ....naturally you have to stop shots but distribution and ball control are actually more important

    ReplyDelete
  138. well its not my fault is it

    ReplyDelete
  139. thats all the more re4ason for rodgers to meet players he really wants in person and meeting potential players assisted with Gerrard and someone like john barnes and try to the the history of the club

    ReplyDelete
  140. Nevergonnacrackthecode7:54 pm, December 19, 2014

there is a picture of rodgers talking to 11 liverpool players at once in training today the players are

    Jones,Toure,Sakho,Skrtel,Henderson,Lallana,Markovic,Sterling

and two palyers with their backs turned

    ReplyDelete
  141. What was the other one doing?

    ReplyDelete
  142. He hasn't cracked it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Don't get why he keeps passing balls deep to defenders when we are so venerable there ..... could it be no confidence in finding players further
    up field ?

    ReplyDelete
  144. My top choices for next LFC manager:-

    1) Me
    2) Jose Mourinho
    3) Rafa Benitez or Diego Simeone
    5) Carlo Ancelotti
    6) Roberto Martinez
    7) Jurgen Klopp

    ReplyDelete
  145. Carlo Ancelotti for me but as he isn't available get your CV
    in quick ...

    ReplyDelete
  146. I can let him have a second hand dossier - hardly used

    ReplyDelete
  147. Think the pages on defending were lost somewhere unfortunately

    ReplyDelete
  148. Realistically:-

    1) Rafa Benitez or Diego Simeone
    3) Roberto Martinez
    4) Jurgen Klopp

    ReplyDelete
  149. Is Martinez realistic? He turned it down once

    ReplyDelete
  150. I still think that FSG never offered him the job. BR was always the first choice. It doesn't make sense that RM will reject Liverpool and take over Everton (no disrespect).

    ReplyDelete
  151. He had that at City. Is Aguero not all the things you describe? Didn't work out. I'm sure there were some pretty good strikers in that inter team he was in too. Up to now he's done absolutely nothing to put his name in the same league as Inbrahimovic, Lewandowski, Suarez, Neymar and the handful of other world class strikers in the world . Mario is nowhere near their level

    ReplyDelete
  152. Martinez is a no go. Simeone would be great, but won't stick around for very long.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Should he go to Arsenal then he could have a similar problem to that which exists at Bayern. Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Sanchez, Theo (if he can somehow play again), and the Ox. Shaqiri would probably adopt Podolski's situation. He would walk into Liverpool's team though, and that should be the overriding factor in his decision.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Lallana is doing very well. Kolo said he's our best player this season and I wouldn't argue with that.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Coutinho?! No way mate. The rest I can agree with, especially Allen since he is almost always in the team, but to say we should sell Coutinho is a very bold, yet flawed comment.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Balotelli(24) scored some vital goals for all the clubs he has played for and he is world class.

When he plays with attackers with class, creativity. mobility, pace and speed around him he excels and that will be the same when sturridge(25) is fit and Markovic(20) hits full flow.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Nope; I'm not against Delph signing.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Fully agreed re Delph/cost and replacements, Gilstrap. Think we have to accept that different players require different conditions to thrive. This 'replacement' thing smacks of excessive nostalgia.

Just realised that in my initial comment, the last sentence was meant to read something like this: "As for 'Gerrard-replacement, don't even try, unless it's an absolute magician like Neymar or Kaka Mk1".

    ReplyDelete
  159. Just to confirm, Lacazette would cost around 16 million, Perrin would be around 22 million, Cabaye would be a loan.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Horses for courses i suppose mate hes done blow all in ages.

    ReplyDelete
  161. And rogers replaces him first or doesn't play him .out of all the Rodgers signings he is best , Rodgers leaves Allen on and replaces lallana ?????

    ReplyDelete
  162. I think our interest in Shaqiri has passed. We would have tried in the summer but after it fell through Markovic is most likely the player we got instead. Shaqiri probably would have been the better option but the young Serb is starting to show his skills. So I don't see Liverpool going back in for Shaqiri. We have heaps of attacking midfield options, both centrally and wide and what we really need is an effective and versatile striker.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I just think that for foreign players, the consideration will always be for their family. London is the most cosmopolitan and well known city so it is understandable that they want to live there. you're right, Finsbury is a bit special but like most of London, council houses on one side, million pound pads on the other - madness!
I once met a girl from Harlsden whilst working in the civil service - she was definitely better than young Raheem. Ah, the memories......

    ReplyDelete
  164. COVER YOUR EARS MARY.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Is it copyrighted? Egg boy!!

    ReplyDelete
  166. Ha! cheap drugs don't work.... they are bound to be on top of the line drugs, only way they'd be so whacked that they thought Balotelli was a £16m risk worth taking.....

    ReplyDelete
  167. I will like to draw your attention to Coutinhos take on success rate, goals to shots rate, and defensive ignorance that lets goalscorers get away.... Coutinho is over rated, and always has been... I'd take Shaqiri or Firmino all day everyday over Coutinho...

    ReplyDelete
  168. You know he's had broken ribs right?

    ReplyDelete
  169. Sorry mate but that's just not true. Balotelli has never "excelled" at any club he's been at, that's why they've all been desperate to offload him. Just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one

    ReplyDelete
  170. Well every manager he has played for knows his a world class talent and he is. Yeah is has his issues and his problems in past but he is human and he was young, he is still only 24.

And when he plays with more class creativity, mobilty and pace around him week in week out we will see very best of M Balotelli(24).
