£200m Fail: Why it's time for FSG to sack Brendan Hodgson (I mean Rodgers) [Guest Post]

[GUEST POST] The original title of this article was 'Why time is up for Brendan Rodgers: A balanced view', but I knew I was not being honest. There is no such a thing as a balanced view when you’re a supporter. Not when your team is in crisis. I specifically say team and not club because I think the club is in good hands with the current owners. They may not be billionaires with ridiculously deep pockets but they have professionalized the club. And they have spent considerable amounts of money on the squad since taking over.

Whenever a team is not performing, there will always be disagreement between supporters on whether the manager should be given more time or not. Last year, everyone agreed Rodgers was the man for the job and as such it may now seem a lot of those supporters quite easily forget how great last season felt.

Personally, I remember exactly what it felt like and that’s part of the reason why now I feel Rodgers time is up at the club. When you go from such a high to the current lows, the most logical thing to do is to look at what has changed. The manager is the same, the club is the same, the supporters are the same. The only major change that was made was to the playing staff. Suarez left and there is no denying that was always going to affect us. We have also added to our playing staff and that’s where things really went wrong.

The problem is, we’re not talking about one or two failed transfers here. We’re talking about all of them. And not just this summer. All of our summers. And the worst thing is, Rodgers is not the first manager at LFC to make that mistake. Does anyone remember Houllier bringing in Kirkland and Dudek? Was Westerveld that bad? And why bring in two goalkeepers at the same time? But back to Rodgers.

* Since taking over at Anfield, Brendan Rodgers has paid 212,380,000 pounds in transfer fees for 25 players.

* The recent Ludogorets match contained six players who were already at the club when Rodgers took over.

* Last year, the twelve players who played the most matches for Liverpool in what was by far our most successful season in years, contained eight players who were already at the club when Rodgers took over.

* The four he did sign were Mignolet, Coutinho, Allen and Sturridge at a combined outlay of 44.5 million pounds. That’s roughly 20% of what he spent meaning 80% of what was shelled out was paid on squad players who never improved the first team. Sure, we can juggle the numbers a bit. If I ignore last summer’s spending 40% was spent on regular starters whereas 60% was spent on squad players.

Liverpool’s Achilles heel under Rodgers has undoubtedly been our defense. Since taking over, he has signed one goalkeeper and four central defenders at a combined sum of 53 million pounds yet our defense has only got worse. He’s signed five central midfielders yet Lucas and Gerrard were the ones that featured more games than any of them last year.

By the way, not one of those five midfielders was a defensive midfielder in spite of our poor defensive record. Finally, he’s signed five strikers at 49.9 million pounds with only 12.5 million Daniel Sturridge ever showing any return on investment.

Rodgers has failed. It's not a matter of losing faith or failing to support the club; It’s a matter of basic economics. But even money aside, the fact that only four players he’s signed have managed to displace those who were already at the club, is quite telling.

If you are looking to improve, you don’t bring in players to sit on the bench - you bring in players to at least challenge those who are already there. Four out of twelve does not suggest that has happened. At the end of the day, we could have saved ourselves (and FSG) some one hundred and fifty million pounds and still had the results we did.

And sure, every manager has hits and misses but Rodgers has a 92% miss rate when you consider only Coutinho and Sturridge are the only two transfers most LFC supporters agree on as being successful. Any manager, in any type of business who only gets it right 8% of the time and who wastes 150 million pounds in the process is on his way out.

Sure, we can point at Henderson and hold him up as one that “came good”, but how often does that really happen? How many examples are there really of players that had a difficult first season but became a regular starter afterwards? And how many more are there of those that just never made it. Or how many are there of players where you just knew from the first time they touched the ball that they were the real deal?

Need a final straw? When Roy Hodgson was sacked Liverpool had 25 points out of 20 league games, which is a measly 1.25 points per game average. A week ago, Liverpool were on 14 points out of 12 games, which is 1.17 points per game, and that's worse than Hodgson, who did not spend over two hundred million pounds to get there.

  1. Good article mate. For me Emre Can, Markovic, Moreno and Origi will all have a good future at LFC as long as the correct coaching is in place.

Rodgers needs to go for these players to step up to the plate.

Skrtel, Johnson, and Gerrard will not be with the club long term and that is the best outcome for us. Ilori and Sakho will most probably feature much more under the new manager :-)

  2. If Liverpool lose the Basel tie it should be curtains for Mr Rodgers ,thanks for last season.......

    ReplyDelete
  3. His days are numbered anyway. Anyone else who believes otherwise are living in La la land.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Loose or win doesnt matter this guy will not take us anywhere we will be midtable as long as stays

    ReplyDelete
  5. That Antonelli, Liverpool supporter just scored against Milan...

    ReplyDelete
  6. There is plenty of youth in the signings and that's a bonus but overall Rodgers transfer record is dire not sure you can completely blame him there.
If the club is to have much needed stability they need a young manager who can be with the club for a long time.
I think Rodgers does fit the bill and the club should take the hardest decision which is to keep him.
If we learn't anything from Spurs it is that changing managers does not bring instant success or improvement for that matter.
Like many of the players Rodgers can grow with the team but i think though a DOF with complete power of veto over signings is a necessity and the disbanding of the transfer committee.
A nice piece though Eric and you make some well thought out points.

  7. So did Carroll but hes not comin back.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Maybe one day this season will be compared to that one when fergie almost got sacked...

    ReplyDelete
  9. Carroll just scored against Milan?!?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yep and Swansea good aint he.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Good article. I think the system of transfers has really been flawed at Liverpool from the beginning of Rodgers' reign. From not paying 1 more million to get Dempsey to the loaning of Carroll, things were wrong from the beginning. They have moved away from buying players like Salah and Konoplyanka because of the money but are more than happy to pay 26 mil for Lallana and 20 for Markovic. All signings have this potential tag but when has that worked out. The only two successes we had were vastly experienced though at a young age with Coutinho playing all over Europe ans Aturridge playing for two powerhouses. Not fitting the priorities and never holding the upper hand, Liverpool has that loser mentality in the market and this transfers to the club in general. This has to change.

  12. Rodgers has to go. It is Houllier and Benitez all over again. Set in his way and not willing to see that his mistakes are harming our season. This is his third season at Pool. Over £220m spent???

Give that kind of money to mourinho and he would have won us the league already. Rodgers out!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Last season, Suarez, Gerrard, Sturridge and towards the end Stirling, carried the rest. The rest, are still playing the same abject football.

Rodgers is still setting up the team in the same way; but the stars of last season are either out of position, or out .. the SO CALLED TEAM descriptors are a FANTASY.

Get a manger who can sort out the spine, a winner .. RAFA for me

    ReplyDelete
  14. 0 - For the second successive Premier League game at Anfield, there was no shot on target attempted by either side in the first half. Serioiusly we are so boring to watch and when you think he has spent 200m for this.......his time is up

    ReplyDelete
  15. Disagree- Coutinho was one of our vital players in that run scoring very important goals.

    ReplyDelete
  16. There will be no new manager. This is a FSG way. It's their way to buy young prospects and develop them. That's why they hired Rodgers because he is good in developing.

He mentioned this summer the club made transfers for the next 2-3 seasons. That means this playerswill become good in the next 2-3 seasons and develop and be in their peak in tthe next few years.

FSG will not support expensive buys in the near future. It looks many fans don't want to understant and accept this.

It's a FSG's way, not Rodgers way. He works under their policies.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wait and see, Rodgers will not be with us by next season.

    ReplyDelete
  18. LFC have created a total of 4 chances across their last 3 first halves in the PL....... seriously 200m spent for exactly

    ReplyDelete
  19. Mourinho aint comin and i dont want some bugger who would be retirement age in any other job.
As with players inexperience brings mistakes too though there is no perfect managers.
The grass always looks greener elsewhere but the club need to be patient dont fool yourself there is no quick fix.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Selling Agger for 3 mil and buying Lovren for 20 has been his biggest mistake IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The point is SAS sucked opposition defenders that is why all other players like Couts, Sterling, Hendo got more space.....That is why Skrtel scored 7 goals from Set pieces when the opposition were busy marking SAS

    ReplyDelete
  22. Cannt do anything else write now

    ReplyDelete
  23. Buying Lallana for £25m just as big a mistake as Lovren. What a waste of money along with Balotelli.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Dream on :-)

Bring on Klopp or someone else who shows more ambition please. I do not want to see our team play for draws thank you very much.

    ReplyDelete
  25. saying yes to the job was his first mistake followed by many more

    ReplyDelete
  26. Klopp did say a few days back that his future is with Dortmund so even he is a dream

    ReplyDelete
  27. You dont mean drop Klopp who has been a revelation at Dortmund this season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. But Klopp didnt have 120m to spend this season......but I agree Dortmund have been very very poor this season

    ReplyDelete
  29. Kind of proves though the grass looks greener on the other side.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I will wait and see, but...

It was told this summer that the club is one year ahead of the plan. Only this year was planned to qualifie for the Champions league. That means Rodgers bought him self at least one year of credit.

And one more thing, FSG doen't want to go go throughh another replacing manager and changing team according to the new manager.

And also they don't want to pay big money for famous high earning manager with reputation.

And FSG isn't stupid. They know without a striker you can not win a game. I really don't understand some people. One striker gone, two of them injured. Who is going to score? Lambert or Borini?

And then in Origi coming next year. I'm sure next year will be crucial, next year will be of big expectations, not this

    ReplyDelete
  31. How many goals did he score again?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rose tinted glasses. Good for you.

    ReplyDelete
  33. But Klopp has won trophies though

    ReplyDelete
  34. I wonder who are this supporters who were admiring Rodgers last season as the seviour of the club and as the manager who should last for long. Some supporters really have short memory.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Give Rodgers time he will.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hehe, it seems you are ot of words...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Klopp has won more trophies in his short time at Dortmund with a budget less than Rodgers has had in a league dominated by Bayern Munich.

Give Rodgers the kind of money Rodgers has had at LFC and there is every chance he could have won us the EPL.

Rodgers is out of his depth and needs to go. END OF.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dude just because I disagree with you you start questioning the supporters like me.........I am as much as Liverpool fan as you are I just want our club to play well and achieve something

    ReplyDelete
  39. Draws? Rafa got us into 2 European cup finals, a league cup final, an fa cup final, second in the league (in his last season, we were a couple of minutes off the Europa league final).

He spent little, yet SIGNED WINNERS, we competed well.

This pass-pass-pass dross is getting us NOWHERE. I reckon Henderson breaks the record for back passes, in every game he plays.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Rafa ain't coming back. I will be proven right. Get over it please.

    ReplyDelete
  41. It's not about supporting. It is about how quick supporters change their minds. I want to say last year Rodgers was GOD for all and this year people would sack him.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 100% agree with post cant think of a manager who has spent so much and got so little in return .and if you can i bet he didnt have job long.nothing to do with wages or wanting to live in london.we dont have a manager with clout who has earned respect in game. If we couldnt attract the players we wanted after the season we had last.we have got no chance now.and the majority of money has been blown.papers full of martinez benzema etc.did i miss something.these players were all available at right price.watched sunday supplement and guy on it said . Why didnt l8verpool just go to man city and offer 65 million for aguero .test the water ?. Then said why didnt they just offer 50 million for sanchez and 250k per week. Lallana.markovic.ballotelli.actually cost more

    ReplyDelete
  43. So people who wanted Carrol to leave now want him to come back?

    ReplyDelete
  44. A league that is not as competitive and a country thats churning out talent like nothing come on Klopp is getting a real beating atm and yet you want him.
I could counter that with why would we want someone who has managed to send a top club nearer the bottom than us in a weaker league.
Klopp needs to go end of.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Again rose tinted glasses. If you think FSG are interested in being a midtable team then you are have been misinformed. Good for you.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Rodgers need more support, he needs time. Every club/team would suffer without their three main strikers. Look at Borrusia. They have the same problems. And do you think they will sack Kloop?

Take away Ronaldo, Benzema and Rodrigez from Real? What do you get?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Do you honestly believe that BR is anywhere near KLopp

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm sure they are not interested. But they know also fot the succes time is needed and stable club. That's what they want at first. With time success will come. Do you think success will be with so young team? No way man.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mate, will BR go and win the Bundesliga with Dortmund?

ha f****** ha. Over and over again. Ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wrote one word where did you get this trash from?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Borussia Dortmund Before Klopp - Portsmouth
After Klopp- European Powerhouse with a CL Final under his Belt

    ReplyDelete
  52. Nevergonnacrackthecode3:20 pm, December 07, 2014

    Are you mad?
Liverpool fans are turning into arsenal fans being reactionary

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hehe, ok then. Maybe it would be good simetimes to put a word sarcasm at the end of the sentence. That's how it wouldn't be misunderstood.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It will end in tears for you.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The only reason BR looked like a good manager was because of Suarez......31 goals and 13 assists that is nearly 50 goals happening because of a SINGLE player....... all the rest of the team has to do is get another 20 goals to reach that top 4 spot

    ReplyDelete
  56. Rodgers is out of his depth. Time to let go. Let's see him win the Bundesliga twice in a row. Ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So you thought before the start of last season they would be top 2 i certainly did not.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Markovic, Ibe, Ilori, Suso, Alberto,Can,Texiera these are young players none who feature for us.......If BR was actually playing a young team I would support him

    ReplyDelete
  59. If BR was the reason to get us into top 2 why do we look so worse this season then

    ReplyDelete
  60. Keep the faith ( at least till end of season ) BR could yet do a Pardew or Big Sam .... who has just gone 3rd ......

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hate to tell you this Logan Liverpool dont play in the Bundesliga ahh but its ok i understand the strain you are under.

    ReplyDelete
  62. West ham playing better football then us with Andy Carroll. What a bloody joke.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Winning the Bundesliga is easy? Of course Rodgers can do it :-o

    ReplyDelete
  64. So is Newcastle but all Caroline has ever had is her height and head

    ReplyDelete
  65. Send him to Bayern why not.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Klopp > than Rodgers and most will without a doubt agree with me ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Who cares he AINT COMIN so get real and he needs to look at his own performance this season anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Your thanking the wrong person/people .. he's out of his depth. We cannot defend, we cannot score. Watching us is like watching paint dry. £212M ..

    ReplyDelete
  69. Are you true supporter you should support your team......this is what I hear every time I say the same thing you told now the fact is BR is not good enough for LFC

    ReplyDelete
  70. So whats your point!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Answer my question or dont bother.

    ReplyDelete
  72. If Rodgers play young team then everybody would say why he played young team. This players are for the future. Markovič played against Southampton. They will play, in the future. When they settle in.

    ReplyDelete
  73. God there is so much flawed with this I wouldn't know where to start. But one thing that got my goat the most was "A week ago, Liverpool were on 14 points out of 12 games, which is 1.17 points per game, and that's worse than Hodgson" Ok that is bad but it is not a week ago is it? It is this week with 21 points from 15. It's definitely not great but it it is what it is rather than what it was or what it shall or may not be.

    ReplyDelete
  74. You are spot on Jamie. Its saddens me as I like the guy but I think we will be knocked out of the CL this week and lose at UTD and that will be him gone. He is a poor manager, a fine coach but a poor manager. His poor signings and tactics are unacceptable now and he has to go. I'd love Klopp or De Boer, theres rumours of AVB but please God let them be just that. We had a golden chance to push on from last season and we blew it big time, we did a Spurs and then some...

    ReplyDelete
  75. How can you say that? What you have been saying after last season? Was he not good enough last year?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Nevergonnacrackthecode3:46 pm, December 07, 2014

so arsene only looked a good manger because of henry?
    fergson because of cantona?
    gardiola because of mesi?
    klopp because of lewondowski

    ReplyDelete
  77. You answered your self. It's not Rodgers fault. It's Suarez fault because he left. Nad it's Sturridges fault because he is injured and it's Ballotelis fault because he is injured. Is Rodgers fault if Suarez left and Balotelli and Sturridge are injured?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Pretty sure the next move we will make is a coach under a DOF. It is the way to go.

We cannot rely on a young manager to run the show. Rodgers will not be keen on answering to anyone so he needs to go.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oh god how many times do i have to tell you that it was that guy named SUAREZ because of whom blah blah blah

    ReplyDelete
  80. Fine then I wont bother

    ReplyDelete
  81. Sterling, Can, Markovic, Coutinho, Suso, Moreno, Origi, Ibe, Rossiter, Texeira, Manquillo, Illori. That's an array of future stars if handled properly. We can't afford for these players to fall by the wayside and end up going on the cheap to other clubs only for them to become world beaters.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yeah its not BR's fault for spending over a 200m and keeping us midtable

    ReplyDelete
  83. no he wasnt, any manager with luis on that form would have achieved what he did, and dont give me oh brendan made him play like that blarney, rodgers wasnt good enough to get the job in the first place let alone keep it now

    ReplyDelete
  84. he was no god of mine, always thought he was a fraud, arrogant beyond words for someone who has achieved so little

    ReplyDelete
  85. If he is such a 'fine coach' WHY FFS has he not been able to sort out the defence after all this time ?????????????

    ReplyDelete
  86. Has been Sid it wont happen anyway AVB is the most likely successor especially after the great job he did at Spurs haha that should make Loges happy anyone but Rodgers he reckons.

    ReplyDelete
  87. You'll find that the majority of people calling for BR to get sacked are doing so simply because they feel that "waste of time" Rafa has a chance of coming back. That would be a CALAMITOUS decision by the club. It won't happen in a million years, so you people need to quit your "Sack Rodgers" call and get behind the manager, players, and ultimately the club.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I remember when Spurs fans were saying how AVB is the best manager in the world ........Thing is it just takes one Bale or Suarez to make a manager look world class

    ReplyDelete
  89. Exactly the point of this article. Both Borini and Lambert are Rodgers buys. Very average players.
And. one injured striker with a mind of a kid is not going to cut it.

They are all Rodgers and his transfer committee's choice of players.

    ReplyDelete
  90. spurs didnt qualify for the champions league or did you forget idiot.
if liverpool beat basle and qualify for the next phase of the champions league there up 20 million not to mention the 50 million for qualifying and thats what its all about. even if sturridge was fit all season where would we be? give me and every auctal liverpool fan a break we would be in the top four 100%. Spurs and then some SPASTICS VIEW, who wrote this a child. burn your liverpool tops your not a fan.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Great post & 100% spot on. I think now the Balotelli mist has cleared we can now see BR for what he is, a clueless manager who is David Brent in disguise with his stupid pontificating. "We're not like Spurs." "Southampton didn't have to sell, the players wanted to further their ambitions." Etcetera etcetera
25 signings later & we have no established Central defence, failed to replace Mascherano in DM, no plan B after Saurez's departure, no replacement for the injury ridden Sturridge, gambling on Balotelli so close to the end of the window when Remy was an option, not playing is purchases. Markovic was never a priority when we could have given Ibe a chance. The whole idea of investing in young talent was to maintain sell on value. That's an abject failure- Allen for £14mill, Markovic for £20mill, Lovren £20mill, Borini £14mill & the list goes on. If we get half we paid for these duds then that's a result!

    ReplyDelete
  92. time? he the 5th longest serving manager in the league, support? hes been given support like no other, 220 million in 2 and a half years! and if real lost those players they would replace them, thats the whole point, rodgers has failed totally in the market

    ReplyDelete
  93. Have you ever looked how fsg behave in boston .redsox sacked coach after one bum season .the guy won world series for first time in about 70 years and he got bombed for the exact reasons that rogers is going to get bombed.fsg are creating a package to increase in value to fsg board .ground.revenue.commercial activities.can you tell me who rogers has developed? Apart from sturridge and coutiniho who cost 23 million .and i wouldnt really call them prices as development.it is exactly fsg policy to build project up to a viable assett and i would say they have spent big.just poor return on buys

    ReplyDelete
  94. Andre Villas Boas is lined up already on today's transfer rumours

    ReplyDelete
  95. I agree he has to go but not for the reasons listed. For me it's not so much who he has signed but how he has utilised those players and the tactics he has been using.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Essentially we've paid £200mill plus for mid table mediocrity. We can't blame the yanks they've fronted the cash. He needs to go. Minimum requirement is top 4!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Sorry mate it has nothing to with Rafa. It has to with him spending all that money on players who he is not playing, sticking with players who clearly need to be dropped and failing to replace Saurez even thou he had months to find a couple of players.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Ahhhh finally someone thinking exactly like me,,,,,,,,,,'We can't blame the yanks they've fronted the cash'........So freaking true

    ReplyDelete
  99. No way FSG will hire AVB

    ReplyDelete
  100. There are certain fans who have a xenophobic attitude especially to foreign owners. They're the ones who always get the blame, mainly because they're not English. Our current owners seem very measured.

    ReplyDelete
  101. How good is he really? Can't recall seeing him play. He's 27 and at, or about to hit his peak. We have this quite strange policy of not buying players over 25 years old, so not sure if we'll sign him. Another consideration is that Italians generally struggle in the EPL. There's another LFC fan, Andre Ayew of Marseille and Ghana who has revealed on numerous occasions that he dreams of playing for LFC. He about 24 years old and a pretty good, hardworking player.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I just hope this time they hire a proper manager

    ReplyDelete
  103. I don't understand people who doubt fsg.
The plan was to get an ancelotti + Rodgers dream team but Rodgers refused so they gave in to him. We've spent too much money to be this bad. He's not good enough for a job such as lfc firstly because he's not great tactically, his backroom staff is the worst in the world and he refuses to recruit better coaches. I mean watching us defend dead ball situations is like ....it's an indescribably baf feeling. He needs to go and we should jump at diego semione immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  104. And please does calling for klopp should realize he's doing worse than Rodgers in a worse league. Simeone is the best bet or we just should have gone in for mancini
Say what u want but the man is a winner
If he had spent 200 million we would be challenging for the league.

    ReplyDelete
  105. At least we won stuff with houllier and rafa this guy is diabolical

    ReplyDelete
  106. that pretty much sums up how i feel doc .....for me rodgers is the epitome of style over substance ,im not sure how long how will be able to dine out on a season where we where in little or no cup competitions and had a two strikers at the very top of there game , in short if we couldn't do it last year we never will with Rodgers at the helm.I just dont get any sense of direction with his signings he continually over pays for players we dont appear to need or are no better than what we loan out or sell , ie sell shelvey for peanuts bring in lallana for a superstar fee,i like lallana but when you dont have a goalie,a CF OR A DM he is a luxury purchass

    ReplyDelete
  107. andy carroll will be licking his lips at playing us because we cannot defend set pieces in any shape way or form

    ReplyDelete
  108. I Believe in giving time to managers but he's done nothing except a fluke second place finish. U just wait we will lose all the big games from now on not a single point from games v city, che, ars, manure we'll probably also lose against Southampton, thfc and even Everton.
Not forgetting the occasional Crystal palace performances. there's no way we're going to get in top four.
Ferguson got time because he had won multiple trophies domestically in Scotland and even Europe. What has Rodgers done to deserve tym.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Some of you maybe hate him like the Devil, but I can't stop wondering what could happen if Rafa had the FSG resourses (like Rodgers or "King Kenny")...

    ReplyDelete
  110. i dont want rafa back but if you think its okay to play like we are after 200m i wish you would employ me in some capacity , heres the deal give me a grand a week to do your shopping and ill buy you a tin of beans and a loaf of bread ....its working for rodgers

    ReplyDelete
  111. thats pretty usefil if the ball is crossed for you just ask swansea

    ReplyDelete
  112. 3 seasons and 200m isnt knee jerk

    ReplyDelete
  113. Just saw him, for the first time. Ok, nothing that special but if we can sell Enrique for same money, than yes...

  114. how does winning nothing make you god....and as a rule your only as good as your last result in any sport you cant keep blowing money and losing ...

  115. Not if there is a club lead impetus to sign young players and a cap on what we are willing to offer players for wages.

  116. If we beat Basel and disappoint completely vs manu and Arsenal he will keep the job. Leicester and Swansea will arround the new year will decide if he stays.

  117. FSG should get rid of Sir Brendon and his league of below average gentlemen (his staff, scouting team ,poor squad players like Henderson,Allen, Johnson,Borini etc. )
He must go now. This guy is clearly inexperienced in every sense !!

  118. i can't believe some of the comments I read on this site these days. I honestly believed Liverpool fans were different and better breed of fan than the usual morons but it would appear I was wrong

  120. Another holier than thou post. So despite spending MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONs, you are happy top watch a team that cannot defend, cannot score and bores you to death?

Rodgers is out of his depth in ALL areas. I wouldn't let him spend another penny.

  121. BR got it wrong this season,he refuse to learn from spurs mistake, too many spice always spoil the soup, moreover he thinks like a midtable manager and that is why he buys avaerage players for average team.

  122. German league stronger than England right now.

  123. Could not agree more! a manager lives and dies by the signings he makes and Brenda's have been atrocious by any measure. i wudnt even consider Coutinho an out and out success, since he barely ever scores or assists and seems to have an average of one decent game in 10. So that just leaves Studge who we will NEVER be able to rely on due to his injuries. Before a ball was kicked this season i think EVERY LFC supporter would have agreed we needed a quality DMF, new keeper and guaranteed 15-20 goal per season striker. We could have had Remy for next to nothing, Song on loan and literally any half decent keeper! Serious mistakes have been made and heads must roll.
This season was a real chance to consolidate top-4 with Utd in particular looking to have left alot of holes in their squad, but they're improving and have money to burn on getting the right players no matter what the cost. Arsenal are under performing atm but have a far superior squad to us, greater spending power and the pull of London, so im afraid the chance has gone.
We cant sign the level of players we need to elevate the club because Rodgers is not a big name manager, he has zero international pull, we need him replaced with a Simone, Klopp, Conte, whatever the cost. That signing we cannot afford to skimp on again.

  124. Spot on mate...
    Diego Simeone for me.

  125. We stuck by Souness for much longer than we should, then promoted a man internally when we should have brought in an experienced manager of international pedigree and THAT is why UTD have romped to 13 premier league titles while we have won nothing!!! Loyalty when it is misplaced is worse than WORTHLESS

  126. The club and the fans must shed the life of conformity. We're a great club that must strive for nothing but the best.
Average managers, average signings, no wonder we haven't achieved anything substantial in decades.
This must change now or the club will be doomed to mid-table mediocrity for years to come.

    ReplyDelete
  127. if the "right" manager had been given that 213 million quid to invest in the team, we could have one of the best squads in Europe. look at the squad Conte built at Juventus on an absolute shoe-string in the past 4 years. it can be done it just takes the right manager. i wouldnt trust Brenda with another single penny, its time to break the bank and get a top-class manager in asap.

  128. Isco, Kroos, Modric, Hernandez, Jese Rodriguez, Bale, Khedira .. need I go on.

  129. when your top goal scorer has only 3 goals at almost half season, no need to look any further to see what the problem is

  130. Mr Rodgers was god last year? well he done extremely well! which makes it all the worse due to the fact he had a excellent base to work on even with the loss of suarez! but instead of buying quality he foolishly went for quantity and unfortunately the players he purchased will not make the grade to the standard required of a Liverpool player! this can be said of the majority of his signings since he came to Liverpool! lot of money wasted on average players! this will be his downfall and personally if I were FSG Iwould not give Rodgers any more cash to waste.

  131. Klopp is the way forward is young similar style of play to us, makes good signings, able to get the best out of players, and finally hes a young coach with lots of champions league experience

  134. and his team is last at the moment

  135. BR is a Joke in terms of signing players.........Just because we were 2nd last year does not justify his place who wasted all the money in the transfer window and buy fringe players who don't even play in the first team.......Players bought for the long term is a bullsht and a cheap excuse.......No Doubt BR the badi on will once waste all the money in January and coming summer if he stays until summer...we need a manager who has that pulling power and who can judge better in terms of talent acquisition

  137. And another repetitive rant from yourself. Chamge the record.
No I'm obviously not happy with the way things are at the moment but changing your manager after a few bad results has been proved time and again to not be the way to go. Just ask Spurs.
Bottom line, we're unbeaten in 4 games, 5 points off 4th and if we beat Basle on Tuesday we're through to the next round of the champions league. Hardly panic stations is it.
Reading your repetitive ramblings you would think we were bottom of the league
