'It's a possibility': Agent confirms 'magnificent' €6m star may quit LFC. Let him go?

Suso just can't get a break at Anfield. Despite the consistently ineffective performances of Liverpool's attacking players, the Spaniard continues to be ignored by Brendan Rodgers, and with AC Milan reportedly waiting in the wings, Suso's Agent has admitted that a transfer may be on the agenda.

In June, Suso made it clear that he is open to a move away. He told reporters:

"I will only renew with Liverpool if I’m guaranteed I’ll play regularly. The option is clear: if I don’t renew, let me leave."

Since then, Liverpool have allegedly agreed to sell Suso to AC Milan. According to a Sky Sports Italia recently:

* Liverpool have agreed to sell Suso to AC Milan next summer.
* He will sign a 4-year deal with €1m a year with the Rossoneri.
* The Spaniard 'dreams' of following Fernando Torres to the San Siro.

When asked last night about the proposed Milan transfer, Suso's agent told Sky Sports:

"There is no agreement with AC Milan. Certainly this [a transfer] is a possibility, but for now nothing more. Rather, Liverpool are pushing for his contract's extension, so I don't rule out even this hypothesis".

So, let's break this down:

* 'There is no agreement with AC Milan': This possibly refers to Suso having no personal agreement with the Italian giants, but even if that's the case, it's still possible that Liverpool have agreed a deal with Milan.

* 'This is a possibility': Clearly, Suso's Agent is admitting that a move to Milan - or some other club - is a definite possibility.

* 'Liverpool are pushing for a contract extension': For me, this is the most baffling comment. Rodgers has shown zero interest in developing Suso as a first-team player, so why would LFC try and extend his contract? Just let him leave already! Suso needs to be playing regular football, and the manager is just stunting his development.

Rodgers talks the talk with Suso (regular praise etc), but for whatever reason, he never gives him a consistent chance in the first team, which suggests the praise is insincere and/or disingenuous.

The disappointing thing is that £6m-rated Suso - hailed by John Aldridge as 'magnificent', and 'a joy to watch' - clearly has a lot of talent, and with the right coaching/development, he could become a top class player.

Look at Raheem Sterling, for example. If Rodgers offered Suso the same level of pitch time, and showed similar faith in his ability, it's possible that the Spaniard might've blossomed at Anfield.

With Markovic, Lallana, Hendo, and Coutinho under-performing right now (3 measly goals between them all season) I see no credible or logical reason why - once fit - Suso shouldn't be given a few opportunities in the first team.

Failing that, Rodgers should just be honest with Suso, and just let him leave to develop his career under a manager who actually rates him.

  1. Suso has been injured for a little while I think Jaimie.

Hopefully he'll come back and get a chance

  2. looking at Rodgers on the sidelines says it all. He is Clueless. he is lost and most of all looks like he is not interested. He has caught The Balo syndrome

    ReplyDelete
  3. BR has completely lost it, from being a dynamic attack minded coach he has become a clueless idiot who wants to have players like messi in defence and goal, so they can pass the ball at the back all day long and hope to bore the opposition to sleep, yet he will bench couhtinho who has probably been the best player so far this season and Suso where the kid has class and play players like balotelli. He needs to sort it or he will be gone remember Spurs last season??!

  4. If Liverpool are looking to extend his contract then they obviously haven't agreed a deal with Milan as you hypothesise

  5. Tbh every knows BR is Mr dillusional and it's time for the manager to go. After suso's excellent season at a young age for Spanish minnows I would take him in the first team every match, and on ccurrent form he deserves to. I believe we had a crop of academy players that if mixed with the quality's of Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho, could have shined and become world class. Instead of signing Lovren, Lambert, Lallana, Markovic(especially),Balotelli saved the club £85M and lined up like this

    --------------------------Mingolet
    McCaughlin-------Toure----------Ilori-------moreno
    --------------Emre Can----------Lucas
    Suso--------------------Sterling-----------Coutinho
    ----------------------Sturridge/Ibe

We've shown faith in these poor crop of players for the past 20 or so games and have had shocking results. If we showed the same faith in our young players from reserves who know the system well and play good football, I'm sure we'd be in the same position or probably higher and they would be getting fantastic experience. We've seen Sterling rapid rise, Suso, Texeria, Ibe, Rossiter, Wilson, Sinclair, Canos will show their worth if given 11 games in PL, 4 games in the CL, 2 games in CC I'm sure they will show their worth. Really like wilson and think he will be world class one day. Really like Suso, he can take free kicks, got great FK and technical ability and he can cut in and pass or shoot. Wilson like Lionel Messi. Texieria a real no.10, rossiter has shown in 1 game he is deffinately stevie g replacement and confident, and I played against Jordan Ibe in London, he a striker of immense quality, like. Sturridge. Sergi Canos is a massive talenet. I watch LFCTV every minute, and Canos is a great player of great versatility. You can see the kid is from Barcelona. His touch immaculate, and very good at getting in goalscoring positions. Canos is a top player and can be as good as Mario Goetze one day. We never needed all these players, especially not Markovic when we got quality wingers like Sterling, Ibe, Suso and Wilson. Even for a Carling Cup Game at Anfield. We can line up like this and get beind the youngsters and make it a big night

    --------------------------Jones
    McCaughlin------Ilori-------Sakho---------Moreno
    -------------Lucas---------Rossiter
    ----Wilson--------Texeria---------Canos
    -------------------Ibe

Subs on Sterling for Wilson, Peterson for Ibe and Coutinho for Texeria.

  6. A waste of genuine potential, instead we go out and splash the best part of £50mil on 2 players who are older and possibly no better, what a joke

    ReplyDelete
  7. Suso is injured and i don't think FSG will sell him so quickly because they want to buy young players and why sell them when they have potential or send him on a six month loan to Ajax to get some technique

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sounds like posturing by the agent. I won't read too much into it.

Just wish the kid could get some playing time more consistently.

  9. It's going to be like four weeks before he can play anyway. Let's hope our new boys are doing the buisiness by then.

  10. A possibility? I'm willing to bet my left testicle on it happening.

  11. You know Markovic is younger yeah?

    Bloody eejit

  13. So how was he our problem last season when he didn't play for us and we also had a poor defense? It's not because it's worse now that it wasn't poor then. The only difference between this season and last is that we scored a lot more last season and we played higher up the pitch. Had we not had Suarez last season, we wouldn't have come close to second place. Don't you wonder how a player who was indeed great at Southampton, great at Lyon and great at the world cup all of a sudden became poor? Does that make sense to you?

  14. The Carvalho rumours are there because everyone else in the world knows what position we need to strengthen. It's just Rodgers who's failed to recognize that three windows in a row. He's not here to keep Gerrard happy, he's here to win football games.

  15. I am not on about Markovic, I am on about Lallana and Balo

  16. Nice one mate. Except for one thing, Peterson left in the summer so can't be included in your last line up. But overall nice comment. 👍👍

  17. You do realize he is out injured right now. There is a very specific reason as to why he is not getting a chance right now. Rodgers gave him tons of playing his first year, it will happen when he is healthy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I can't tell if this is satire.

To sum up your point with your logic, you believe that we would be better off with unproven players this season than with players who have actually proven a capability to have some measure of success at the senior level.

I'm all for testing some of our younger players... but the idea that they would all work out is irrational.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I just don't understand why Suso would want to extend his contract with LFC.

He's never been given a chance here. Why would that change?

  20. Just read Sturridge has returned to full training

at last somebody got the balls to say just that. sakho excellent when playing for france and lovren the rock for southampton last season.as jamie said they cannot turned bad in one season. Is our coaches up to it or is it our middfield?

    ReplyDelete
  22. We were poor last year too. No one is arguing that. But Lovren is also garbage now. We made less errors that lead to goals by this point. Sakho made none all year Lovren has made three up to now! He has made our defence worse. For me the lad seems to feel he has to do everything. Feels he has to be tghis ball playing, win every ball player and he is failing at both. His confidence is shot, partly by the system and lack of protection but also that the pressure is higher. He wanted the move, pushed for it. He cost a big fee and Rodgers hailed him as a leader. Now he is sh!itting himself. It is not Rodgers or the system that is making him make errors although Rodgers didn't do him any favours heaping pressure on him.

well said. simon brilliant shot stopper.surely we have the coaches to work on his weak points such as set pieces etc, DO WE HAVE A GOALKEEPER COACH?

    ReplyDelete
  24. After his season at Almeria we would have probably bought him for 18M.

    ReplyDelete
  25. While it's true that Lovren has been "getting it in the neck", he's also the player with the most defensive errors in the league.

    ReplyDelete
  26. the only thing huge about marko is the fee

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wouldn't say he hasn't been given a chance.

BR gave Suso his senior début in a Europa League match and then 3 days later against Man Utd. He then played again against West Brom. He also made his first Prem League start against Norwich that season.

If my memory serves me right he played okay in all of those games but let himself down a few months later in a U21 match against Utd.

BR also offered Suso a new contract which he signed.

  28. no offense rogers wants us to pass it around at the back and carra had a touch like a scrap man....

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gerrard will put his rent up if he drops him.....Rodgers is having a midlife crisis and wont drop gerrard

    ReplyDelete
  30. Roders wants us to play from the back ...thats suicide if your Gp cant control or kick a ball ....and it all stems from there

    ReplyDelete
  31. That's what was weird about it... he was given a brief run, and then it's like we didn't hear from him again.

He even scored earlier this year in the League Cup, and we still have not heard from him since.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know. I do not get it either

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree I have previously said that I rate his potential but disagree with the inflated fee

    ReplyDelete
  34. With all due respect, I think technique is his strongest skill set.
On the other hand the main thing he lacks is pace which unfortunately cannot be honed.
I really like the lad and would've given him more chance than he's had. I would've also bought a South American Suarez / Tevez / Sanchez profile type player but then again what do I know!

    ReplyDelete
  35. ...don't say it too loudly as Woy may hear u!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agreed - but as Gilstrap says, the rent situation makes it weird. I'm hoping we do the usual post-Christmas improvement thing again. A couple of good transfers or a reshuffle of the team and we just might.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm at a loss to explain why we purchased Lallana for 25m when we had Suso on our books.
This kids got sooo much potential... he deserves to be playing more often.
Absolutely fuming he's been frozen out of the team.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have to be honest I cringe most times John Aldridge comments on anything to do with LFC. It's why I have to listen to radio Merseyside and not Radio City during a match. With regards Lovren, it is shocking how his form has dropped since he joined, but so many players fail to progress when they join Liverpool, this has happened many times well before Rodgers time. So I doubt it has anything to do with the coaching and probably more to do with the massive expectations levied on the players when they sign for Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  39. When is Suso expected to regain full health? Anyone know???

    ReplyDelete
  40. I know I'll probably be classed as a Rodgerist (sounds dirtier than it is) or something along those lines, but it's VERY easy to go and point the finger at Rodgers and his coaching staff for our defensive woes but the honest reality is that we just don't know. Footballers are just employees of a company, and so many factors can influence the way that they complete the job. Things like adjusting to the area/homesickness, niggling injuries that we don't even hear about, issues in personal lives, not agreeing with the teams plan or layout, illness, stress, anxiety, low morale, miscommunication, language barriers, family issues, or a whole range of factors, both external or internal. I'm not saying it isn't BR or his staff's fault, but I think that targeting them is a little harsh and is extrapolating on facts to create a convenient narrative. Similar to the blaming of Rodgers (and/or Ayre) regarding the performance of signings, where fans seem to think that on top of being a football manager, he is required to be psychic as well. I know I'm repeating myself a bit, but I feel like we fans just have to start looking at things from all points of view, not just the FM/FIFA manager point of view. No more whining from me. Peace, YNWA

  41. In Susos first senior season under BR he was given good opportunities relative to his experience. He has shown courage by offering to go on loan and further his development without being told. He done well considering. During his loan spell he has consistently said that he wants to stay at LFC and keeps up with the games. In this years pre season he scores two great goals. He then saves LFC's blushes in the cup with another great goal but it seems there's something that BR doesn't favour in him. My question is, he hasn't done any worse than Marcovic or Allen but why does he not get a look in? I would like him to stay but I'm not sure that is healthy for his career unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I often wonder about that, I mean who would be the natural choice between the sticks with the ball at his feet, sometimes playing sweeper is he had to, and with excellent distribution? Certainly not Mignolet. Sure you can argue that with prolonged exposure to that certain style of play he'll become used to it, but the point is that it is not Simon's natural game, and where have we seen Rodgers squeezing a square peg into a round hole for much of this season? Starts with B and ends with Telli :p

    ReplyDelete
  43. A thousand thumbs up to you. BR is talent-blind

    ReplyDelete
  44. Confusing isnt it? BR whats he doing to our team? Isnt it him who gave the go ahead for Adam Morgan to be sold? Sounds to me like a plan to destroy us from within

    ReplyDelete
  45. I do not think Coutinho is underperforming. He is just too brilliant for his team mates especially Balotelli.

Why can't Rodgers try out Gerald in an attacking position like number 10? Why is he doing the same thing over and over expecting different results? Surely he has to be fired ASAP.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sounds like you know what you are talking about, But Rodgers surely thinks differently.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't think he was given so much opportunity. I remember him being subbed in the first half of a PL match. That shocked me greatly

    ReplyDelete
  48. to quote @Ghost Rider 'BR gave Suso his senior début in a Europa League match and then 3 days
