Confirmed LFC XI vs. CP: £48m trio out; BR to make same mistakes yet again...?

With three points an absolute necessity, Rickie Lambert starts for Liverpool today as Brendan Rodgers tries to arrest the Reds' alarming slide into mid-table mediocrity.

FULL TEAM: Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson, Gerrard, Allen, Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling, Lambert

SUBS: Jones, Toure, Moreno, Lucas, Can, Borini, Markovic

According to the official LFC website:

"LFC can confirm Mario Balotelli is absent due to a groin injury while Jordan Henderson is missing through illness".

With one goal all season, and only one assists since September, Henderson won't be missed that much, so it's a great chance for Lallana to stake a claim to stay in the side.

Alas, given the personnel, it looks like Rodgers will go with a 4231 yet again. Probable formation:

Mignolet

Manquillo --- Skrtel --- Lovren ---- Johnson

------------- Gerrard - Allen

---- Coutinho -- Sterling ----- Lallana

----------------- Lambert

You never know, though - it's possible Rodgers might go with the following:

------------------ Mignolet

Manquillo --- Skrtel --- Lovren ---- Johnson

----------------- Allen

------------ Gerrard - Lallana

---------------- Coutinho

---------- Sterling -- Lambert

My prediction: 2-2

  1. Henderson has 3 assists this season: Southampton, Spurs & West Brom.

  2. I want LFC to win so desperately.... I hope this team shocks everyone and wins comfortably. Till the end of Jan 1st, 12 games for LFC on a trot is freakin' scary! LFC should be more imposing...

    ReplyDelete
  3. need some salt with your words?

    ReplyDelete
  4. but I dont blame you for your prediction

    ReplyDelete
  5. Besides the goal, we look so unbalanced.

Do not know WTF to do with the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  6. That was so bad

    ReplyDelete
  7. Only a matter of time before Johnson, Skrtel and Johnson struck again!

    ReplyDelete
  8. To be honest it's what we deserved we are awful

    ReplyDelete
  9. Skrtel and lovren 1st choice my f****** arse.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Is sahko still injured

    ReplyDelete
  11. They will play against Ludogrets

    ReplyDelete
  12. Does it really matter when Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren and Rodgers are best mates?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm happy he is trying Lallana and Coutinho in the same team

    ReplyDelete
  14. Where was Gerrard? Wat kind of defensive midfielder is he?

    ReplyDelete
  15. What does it matter when he is playing johnson sorted and lovren

    ReplyDelete
  16. We are absolutely clueless. Clearly Balotelli ain't the problem at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Can somebody tell what the fuck gerrard is doing apart from nothing

    ReplyDelete
  18. Mignoiet saving our arse again.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Only we can make Palace look this good

    ReplyDelete
  20. Just wait until somebody puts a high slow ball

    ReplyDelete
  21. do we have a midfield

    ReplyDelete
  22. Midfield... midfield.. nope doesn't ring a bell

    ReplyDelete
  23. I honestly don't believe we need a new keeper, any keeper would struggle with this defence in front of them. I do admit there is room for improvement though.

    ReplyDelete
  24. People need to realise Gerrard is the problem too slow and a free passenger

    ReplyDelete
  25. palace have us figured out. Cut out Gerrard, put our defence under pressure and it is A for a way.

Why did Skrtel, Lovren, Gerrard and Johnson start again? Clueless manager. Absolutely clueless.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You don't have to cut gerrard out, you just have to leisurely walk past him

    ReplyDelete
  27. WTF is the purpose of Sterling in this match? Lambert nowhere to be found after the first goal.

    F****** mess.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Stirling looks tired, shame we don't have a pacey talented 20 mil player who could play up front with lambert.... hang on

    ReplyDelete
  29. Even Warnock has Rodgers number

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mate, zippy george and bungle have the measure of br

    ReplyDelete
  31. Markovic? In fact, i would bring on Borini and Markovic. Pace is clearly lacking up front.

Lambert has done bugger all since the first minute.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We look like a f******* league one team.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bloody hell we are utterly useless

    ReplyDelete
  34. That's a bit harsh, I think league 1 teams would be doing a better job.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Why play a player that you paid 20 mil for and another player who will run his b******* off

    ReplyDelete
  36. I note you didn't comment when Liverpool scored, but have had seven moans since, you'd be better not watching maybe ....

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have said it time and time again. Does not matter which keeper you want to bring in. He is a sitting duck behind this defence.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Everyone has that figured Gerrard needs to be dropped what has he done in 45 mins?

    ReplyDelete
  39. What did you want me to say about the opening goal. look at the entire first half. We are clueless.

    ReplyDelete
  40. What should happen

    Moreno for Johnson
    Can for Allen
    Borini for Coutinho

What is going to happen - We all know

    ReplyDelete
  41. Did Sterling forget how to pass the ball

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lambert has gotten on the end of a couple of things. No one sores everything. Sterling has been poor. Doesn't quite know the role perhaps.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think Lambert has been good. He has awareness unlike others. Him and Lallana and even Allen have been decent. Manquillo looked solid. Others- the less the said the better.

    ReplyDelete
  44. ...except to pass it backwards of course. It is infuriating to watch. CP dares...they take chances they mark a man when LFC has the ball. They press. We stand. If something doesn't change the outcome of this match is predictable.

    ReplyDelete
  45. He is not getting the ball much at all. We are intent to play it around the back instead of getting it up. Borini would have done no better.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The goal was scored in the opening minutes. What else have we done? Balance of the team completely wrong. Defence up to sh!te. Rodgers persists.

Going to cost him his job.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It's not the pace that's lacking. It's the attacking attitude that's lacking. We have pace, we just don't have any killer instinct.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yet Balotelli is being blamed for not getting into the box?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Think we should put in a 10m bid for Boalsie in Jan the guy is good instead of wasting it on potential

    ReplyDelete
  50. Skrtel and Lovren were a nightmare for that goal. Skrtel not knowing what to do which led them to get the ball and play it around and Lovren for when they actually attacked having the worst body position he could have had.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Allen has been one of our better performers.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Johnson takes atleast 30 secs to make the pass

    ReplyDelete
  53. Actually yeah- Can for Gerrard then

    ReplyDelete
  54. borini for sterling
    can for gerrard
    toure for gerrard

    an moreno for gerrard

an u know what will happen

    we will win the game.......!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Agree on the defence but Lambert can't do much without the ball getting played to him. His movement has been good and has had a couple of headed chances.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Jeez, you're determined to make things sound as bad as possible, aren't you? You're so transparent - you have an agenda, so your goal is to make everything seem as apocalyptic as possible, which means you ridiculously exaggerate every negative aspect of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah I would go for that maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Bolasie is gonna tear our defense a new one

    ReplyDelete
  59. My mum could do better then gerrard and she has just had her hip done

    ReplyDelete
  60. moreno for johnson sorry

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lambert scored his first chance. Balo has missed his. Lambert has gotten in the box more than Ballotelli does.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Enough is enough BR has made our team a big joke

    ReplyDelete
  63. And we have played well? Sorry but clearly I see things differently. We are so far behind the performances of last season it has become and absolute joke.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Sorry Jamie but logan is right. We have been truly awful

    ReplyDelete
  65. Have you not been calling for the diamond though?

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's 1-1, not 0-3 - you are trying to make things sound as negative as possible with your constant exaggeration. You clearly have zero capacity to be constructive or fair.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Diamond or no diamond - if you have Skrtel, Lovren and Johnson in your defense, you are calling for trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Slow from the back, too easily pressured out of possession, poor passes in the forward third and lots of dead end runs. Defensively not worth commenting on ... Palace deserve a goal from that half. Borini could take off Sterling, go to the right, and Markovic might have some joy down the left. It has to come down the wings but somehow it's still being directed down the middle and just not working. Jedinak just muscles and kicks people off the ball, sometimes gives away fouls but most of the time gets away with it. It's actually a bit rough and ready from Palace, they're getting away with a lot, but that's how it is in this league.

    ReplyDelete
  69. We do not even know how to make that work at the moment. Nobody knows WTF to do with the ball. Open your eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I was actually going to suggest that one. Can is a similar player to Gerrard except actually has some mobility and has potential to develop into a great player and is probably better than Gerrard now.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jamie are you watching the game.. can you honestly say you believe with the way we are playing we are going to win.

    ReplyDelete
  72. and Gerrard as DM

    ReplyDelete
  73. PATHETIC - We cant keep a clean sheet under B R - NEVER - we are getting WORSE

    ReplyDelete
  74. 0-3 would be good. 3-0 wouldn't though.

    ReplyDelete
  75. That's not the point. It's not as bad as Logan is making out, with his constant 'the world is ending' posts.

    ReplyDelete
  76. id like to see can for gerrard and borini for allen ...play 2 up front ffs!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Common Jaimie. Do you see us finishing 4th with the way we are playing against a team that is one place above relegation? Get real mate.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Not gonna happen

    ReplyDelete
  79. We are being outmuscled in midfield by Ledley and Jedinak now. We have the perfect weapon to counter that but of course - Rodgers is never going to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Brendan is riding the back of senior players to protect himself from the sack at the cost of liverpoolfc... poor loser like tactics...

everybody can see.. gerrard, johnson and lovren are all worthy of drop...and he is blind.. twat

    ReplyDelete
  81. now that I have said that SG will score a cracker free kick

    ReplyDelete
  82. Not as bad.. seriously?

We are bloody awful. On top of that from what we have seen so far this season what makes you think we can win this

    ReplyDelete
  83. We are so slow up front. What a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Straight away we look awful

    ReplyDelete
  85. Where LFC will finish in May is irrelevant right now. Your constant hysterical posts about how badly things are allegedly going just illustrates your inability to analyse things in a fair, moderate manner (IMO)

    ReplyDelete
  86. For the first timre I now agree B R must go = this is not Liverpool = he insists on playing this crap system and I almost want Palace to put another 3 past us to end this era for good

    ReplyDelete
  87. Sterling is playing up front.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Wow just when you think johnson couldn't get any worse

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yeah he'll score a free kick as he can't contribute anything in open play.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Sorry, but it's literally not as bad as some of the more ridiculously overwrought posts suggest. It's 1-1, which means the game is still in the balance. Palace haven't had that many clear-cut chances, and if the defence is as bad you Logan et al make out (in this game) then LFC would've conceded 4 goals by now. The fact it's only one goal conceded means that the defence is, for the most part, doing its job.

    ReplyDelete
  91. At least somebody agrees with me :-)

    ReplyDelete
  92. He's the guy who gets the ball and runs into about 3 players and loses it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Up front. Diamond Lambert and Sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  94. All I can say is we will see but from the evidence so far this season and from the first half if i was a betting man I go with palace winning this game

    ReplyDelete
  95. Where is STEVIE G ????????/

    ReplyDelete
  96. Watching the world go past

    ReplyDelete
  97. Sterling is busy covering for Johnson. Are you blind?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Although by first looks shape seems to have changed in this half.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I can see mate you may need to give it a go yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  100. If a goalkeeper is forced to make a save you've already made a mistake. Last line of defence.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Where is any player? We are that rubbish.

    ReplyDelete
  102. We just go to panic stations as soon as palace go on the counter

    ReplyDelete
  103. In other news atleast Hamilton is winning the Formula 1 and just lapped Robbery.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Drop Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson and Gerrard ASAP!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Hamilton WC let's sign him

    ReplyDelete
  106. Probably better than half of our players.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Coutinho is our only hope of a goal or a penalty - Stevie G is so slow -

    ReplyDelete
  108. Steve G is 30% if the problem for our defense!!!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Bring on Borini and Markovic. just try something to win the bloody game. It is going nowhere at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Nevergonnacrackthecode2:45 pm, November 23, 2014

    markovic on for allen
    can on for gerrard

    ReplyDelete
  111. Scott Dann making our defenders look like chumps. It is a terrible state of affairs.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I disagree Gerrard needs to go off!! Way too slow

    ReplyDelete
  113. I don't get why BR doesn't use the team we used against Madrid. Probably our best performance(apart from Tottenham) of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  114. That would mean dropping his best mates

    ReplyDelete
  115. Nevergonnacrackthecode2:48 pm, November 23, 2014

draws not the worst result here
selhurts park is a tough place to go

    ReplyDelete
  116. Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren and Gerrard of course.

    ReplyDelete
  117. In a nut she'll, it doesn't suit your agenda to comment on 'a positive' you constantly moan and moan without giving any constructive opinion of what should happen. We all know the problems, without your constant doomsday moaning. BR is going nowhere right now ....

    ReplyDelete
  118. After we have lost 3 in a row and the way we are playing in this match? Get over yourself please.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I don't mind using Sorted Lovren so much. It's more Gerrard and Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  120. when are we gonna change things gee!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Jedinak is not a gentle type.

    ReplyDelete
  122. BR OUT BR OUT

    WASTED MILLIONS

    ReplyDelete
  123. Fanis Borini is coming on.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock...

    ReplyDelete
  125. Playing like this we will be in a relegation fight - so slow

    ReplyDelete
  126. If we lose this and lose on wed I hope that's game over for Rogers. This is the worst crock of shit mediocre team been put together for over a 120mill!!!!. Wow fsg must be well happy.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Lambert still on the pitch and has done nothing since the first minute. We are going to score for sure :-o

    ReplyDelete
  128. And some think FSG are going to spend more money this season.

    Rose tinted glasses.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I will buy a Borini shirt if he scores and we win.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Nevergonnacrackthecode3:00 pm, November 23, 2014

the thing is if tehy dont they might get relegated a defenite possability
if liverpool get relegated we lsoe all our tv money
    wour club loses its value

in buisness you cannot greive you take desicive action

    ReplyDelete
  131. Why did we get rid of Martin Kelly?

    ReplyDelete
  132. I'm guessing injury prone?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Nevergonnacrackthecode3:02 pm, November 23, 2014

pointless question he was poor last season
you are liek teh people who say why did we sell shelvy
    they werent good here

    ReplyDelete
  134. we are simply not good enough

    ReplyDelete
  135. Cripes Manquillo. Doesn't anyone on this team have a left foot?

    ReplyDelete
  136. He is playing now is he not? 9 matches this season.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I can only imagine the excuses from BR after the match. OMG.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Championship Manager

    ReplyDelete
  139. I disagree with the Shelves part. Shelves wasn't really given a chance except on the Europa League which he was one of our better players.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I can't watch anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I think BR is on his way

    ReplyDelete
  142. He was forever injured when he was player for Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Pathetic is better than us

    ReplyDelete
  144. i'm gonna have a lie down. Wake me up in May.

    ReplyDelete
  145. What you have to say now Jaimie. Am I overreacting?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Rafa Benitez anfield is calling you.

    ReplyDelete
  147. We won't get relegated with a decent manager. Rodgers needs to go, regardless of result. We're not playing like a top team and he is solely to blame. I didn't want to believe that SAS carried us last term, but it's there for all to see. A nice guy and will be a decent manager as he is now, but we need a proven winner to raise the performance levels of these guys.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Rodgers needs to go along with grandad Gerrard they both can enjoy LA Galaxy fc

    ReplyDelete
  149. You may not like what you see when you wake up.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Go away now Rodgers FSG do it

    ReplyDelete
  151. hahahahahahahaha 230m spent BODGERS

    ReplyDelete
  152. Lovren is going to get Rodgers the sack.

    ReplyDelete
  153. What on earth is going on?????

    ReplyDelete
  154. Bring Rafa now!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Rodgers is gonna get his own sack

    ReplyDelete
  156. Rodgers is the cause of this. Bit lame blaming the new signings.

    ReplyDelete
  157. It's not lovren fault it's Gerrard keeps exposing our defense bring Rafa now

    ReplyDelete
  158. 120mil spent and nothing to show no strikers nothing im sure he will be gone

    ReplyDelete
  159. Brought on Can, took off the wrong play IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Surely BR is gone now

    ReplyDelete
  161. I think Bob means May 2018

    ReplyDelete
  162. Nevergonnacrackthecode3:13 pm, November 23, 2014

im not looking for scapegoats anymore
the problem is a million percent rodgers

    ReplyDelete
  163. I stand by what I said. League 1 I'm thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Yes, you were overreacting in the first half.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Its weird but am cheering for palace. One team is playing with lot of heart and other keeps getting worse. Last couple of months we have played football similar to roy era...if not worse.

    ReplyDelete
  166. We weren't conceding as much in the Hodgson era.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Jamie your being as stubborn as BR.

    ReplyDelete
  168. the players just dont trust in BR

    ReplyDelete
  169. Nevergonnacrackthecode3:16 pm, November 23, 2014

its got nothing to do with heart
    i ahte that line
    its all managemnet
    rodgers mistakes are so obvious

    ReplyDelete
  170. So.. what's the betting that BR says we played well and he is happy with effort blah blah blah

    ReplyDelete
  171. I think BR will step down after this game

    ReplyDelete
  172. The only solution right now is to bring in an experienced manager till the end of the season. Hiddink for me and then bring in Frank de Boer at the start of next season along with Johan Cruyff as director of football.

Rodgers at a dead end now. Time to go.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Not a chance. He only leave if he is sacked and even then he will blame everybody else except himself

    ReplyDelete
  174. At the moment I would take the chuckle brothers over BR

    ReplyDelete
  175. I think rafa will come now

    ReplyDelete
  176. Pulis till summer would do but only if BR doesn't turn around by January.

    ReplyDelete
  177. You are in dreamland.

    ReplyDelete
