Anfield Exit: Boss confirms CL giants 'need' to sign exciting £6m LFC star. Sell?

In September, Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato claimed that Liverpool have agreed to sell to AC Milan, with the Italian giants offering the marginalised attacker a 4-year deal worth €1m a year. Suso is constantly ignored by Brendan Rodgers, so a move clearly makes sense, but is there any truth to this particular rumour?

When asked this week about the club's alleged interest in Suso, Milan Chief Adriano Galliani told reporters:

“We need to strengthen. Suso is out of contract and will tell us if he wants to change his team or stay where he is".

This is tacit confirmation that Milan are interested in Suso, and with the 'top class' youngster soon to be out of contract, he's in a strong position to make the right decision about the future.

The treatment of Suso is disappointing, but it's nothing new. In November 2012, Rodgers substituted him in the 38th minute of LFC's home game with Wigan, which seemed unduly harsh. Subbing players off in the first half of games is always embarrassing, and as I argued at the time, Rodgers cold've just waited a measly 7 minutes until half-time. It's not as if LFC were in danger of losing the game.

£6m-rated Suso - hailed by John Aldridge as 'magnificent', and 'a joy to watch' - clearly has a lot of talent, and with the right coaching/development, he could become a top class player. Alas, Rodgers doesn't seem interested in committing to the attacker's first-team development, and that may ultimately lead to Suso quitting the club.

Suso has stuck it out over the last four years; he's been loyal, and patiently waited for his chance. Well, for the sake of his career, he should (IMO) leave Anfield ASAP. Rodgers clearly doesn't rate him, and the £20m purchase of Lazar Markovic is yet another indirect vote of no-confidence.

As such, why stay? Rodgers is unlikely to suddenly change his approach and start playing Suso regularly, so there's no point hanging around...right?

  2. Well with coutinho, sterling and lallana in front of him it makes sense for him to go somewhere where he can get games he could be the new coutinho for ac milan

but we wont miss him we need now to regroup a new strike is imperative with balotelli struggling and stuzza always injured
    a jackson martinez

  3. Who else agrees with me?

i would rather finish 4th in the cl if we also get 4th in pl

rather than get to the group stage but finish 5th or lower

the pl is the most important and we should forget this and focus on hull city which is more important

  4. most would agree.

  5. After yesterdays game what it showed is that lovren needs time out he is a very good player but right now he seems to be just kicking the air

a time away from the spotlight it helped both henderson and allen
and kolo toure is a good center back

as for mignolet i don't know he pulls of worldies but also prone to mistakes , maybe competition will do him good hart improved when pantamillion took his space and de gea likewise with lingaard

only problem is our number two is jones , i think it was poor management of funds not buying a decent competition especilly as rodgers confirmed the need for one vs shamrock

  6. balotelli though i will get rid of
    markovic,lallana,moreno,lovren,can were all monitored extensively
but balo as carra describes was a "panic buy" when sanchez and higuain bids failed and all options for cavani and falcao closed

January maybe loan him out to inter milan or napoli
and make a bid for higuain or jackson martinez
40m it might cost but that is also the difference of not finishing cl so i would do it

  7. Yesterday someone i cant remember who said we need a winger type striker
the player who came to my mind is stefan jovetic
pellegrini clearly does not fancy him dzeko and augero are ahead of him and IMO a big bid could tempt them he could have same impact as sturridge

    .............................................jovetic
    lallana..................................henderson...............sterling
    ...........................allen............................gerrard

  8. my team for hull:
    ...............................................sterling
    lallana...................................coutinho....................henderson
    ..............................allen..........................can
    moreno.................toure......................skrtel................johnson
    .............................................mignolet

    bench: baloteli,markovic,gerrard,lambert,lovren,manquillo,jones

gerrard might not be able to play 3 games in 6 days
while like i said earlier a time out might be what lovren needs
balotelli we should just give up no energy to him whatsoever

johnsons not great but manquillo aint great either

  9. He looks 20 times better than any of our summer signings.Noe Carragher and Rednapp are publically having a real go at B R and Stevie G wishes he had gone to Madrid - bloody hell - its going from bad to worse - he wont have a clue whoto play on Saturday - not a clue. To end on a positive - which is probably wrong anyway but am I correct when I estimate that even if we lose in Madrid - a given - we WILL STILL QUALIFY IF WE BEAT Basel by 2 goals and the other lot by one ? GO ON TELL ME I AM WRONG - would not suprise me one little bit

  10. P S The lad we sent to Stoke is better than the summer signings

  15. no, suso isn't a diver, nor does he resemble a cross between robert maxwell and leonid brezhnev.

  16. So true. There is a reason why Southampton is doing so well. They believe in their system. Liverpool sell good potential players and buy average players. Our transfer dealings are a joke, I have no words to describe it.

  17. Jovetic is injured, Pellegrini played him frequently when he wasn't injured at the start of the season. Negredo was loaned out so Jovetic could play more.

    ReplyDelete
  18. LOL, whats the point of finishing in top 4 when you have no intention or ability to do well in ECL? Why even take a pain to finish in top 4? Ridiculous theory.

  21. JAMIE - How is this for positive mate ?? LFC are 50/1 to conquer Europe and City 25/1 = Stranger things have happened

    ReplyDelete
  22. B R needs help = hope he is BIG enough to see that and ask for a defensive coach to spend 3 days with defence - that is enough time

    ReplyDelete
  23. People need to really calm down. We all knew that we were getting screwed for this match and those who deny that are just deluded. We got a lot of average players and we lost a world class one. Add to that the loss of Sturridge and Rodgers' complete change of style and this was more inevitable. I hate to say this but I agree with Nevergonnagrackthecode but for different reasons. We need this fourth place to consolidate ourselves as in the European mix. Remember, yesterday was the biggest game in the lives of all these players( bar Stevie and Skrtel). They have never played such opposition before and neither has Brendan. We need to make sure we position ourselves be it at the expense of one campaign..

  24. O K accept I am wrong on theory about beating the other 2 teams to qualify in Champions League - is that because it is now down to goal difference and not the results of teams against each other when they finish on same number of points ? LFC would have 9 points - others can only achieve 9 if we beat them = PLEASE advise

    ReplyDelete
  25. Put simply is it head to head results that matter or goal difference ?

    ReplyDelete
  26. head to head counting away goals as far as i know

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gerrard is the problem the sooner we drop him the better it is balotelli is being made a scapegoat

    ReplyDelete
  28. If we let Suso go to Milan we will have been shafted twice by them. In one season. Well actually, for them it's just good business. If an idiot would come up to me and offer me Suso plus sixteen million for Heskeytelli I would rip his arm off too.

    ReplyDelete
  29. head to head. If Liverpool win against Basel and Ludogrets, we can qualify. Assuming they will lose against RM and drop points against each other like draw or each team winning one game

    ReplyDelete
  30. How is Gerrard the problem? With respect, you were blind during the match. Actually he was everywhere because of that nonexistent defense. DID you see he denied CR7 a certain goal?
Sometimes people forget hes 34 yet he ran his a ss off

    ReplyDelete
  31. How is this Balotelli's fault?

    ReplyDelete
  32. So in conclusion
    Joke> LFC transfer Policy

    ReplyDelete
  33. it isn't entirely, it's just that starting with 10 men each game when he is selected, that's the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I ask again can someone please explain Markovic over Suso?
Markovic is symptomatic of what happens when a Manager selects his purchases to justify the money spent.

Suso is a better player than Markovic yet Markovic keeps getting chances.

Rogers will lose his job if we don't finish in the top 4 and he will have no one to blame but himself.

  36. We started like that against Madrid. I think if we had the same quality of set pieces and that quality of SAS, we could have won this game.

  40. so you would not want us to participate in the UCL til the day we are dead certain to win it ? the best we can hope for in short term is becoming regulars in the CL again. if nothing it at least attracts top talents to the team.

  41. Why even take a pain to finish in top 4? /money/

    ReplyDelete
  42. ability to do well in ECL
    Well, not winning it..

  43. I think arsenal financially have benefited!

    ReplyDelete
  44. If Rodgers loses his job then so be it but the effect is infinitely worse for us. We had one chance of settling back into the elite of Europe last summer and we peshed it away. So whoever comes in next has to start all over again and he won't have Suarez to help him.

    ReplyDelete
  45. while Balotelli may seem/be lazy, BR should play to his strengths.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The only system that has continually won the league in England is a 4-4-2 with a floating striker. Occasionally a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 team will pop up for a season and win the league before the 4-4-2 comes back with a vengeance!

Man Utd have won the majority of their titles with a 4-4-2 and twice with a 4-3-3 with either Rooney or Van Persie playing through the middle.

Arsenal had one of the meanest 4-4-2 sides I've ever seen with Viera,Petit, Henry and Bergamp Before switching to 4-3-3 and winning nothing.

Chelsea won the league 3-4 times using the 4-3-3 before disappearing and bouncing back this year with the likes of Hazard and Fabregas in midfield and a proper center forward in Costa

Man city won the league under Manchini playing 4-4-2 and Pellegrini uses the same attacking formation.

The 4-3-3 requires genius to make make it work. Whether it be Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (real and fake) Robben, Ribery, Eto'o (who we should have signed if we wanted a number 9) Suarez, Messi, Iniesta etc. WIthout genius a 4-3-3 hovers on the outskirts like Arsenal or will be forever average like Swansea, Bolton or West Ham.

We have no Genius or potential genius within our squad with the exception of Lallana and possibly Coutinho and Suso. Suarez definitely had it and Pacheco potentially had it. Before this group however we haven't had real genius since Jari Litmanen. The 4-3-3 requires unpredictability that only players like Suso can provide. We continue to sign pace whilst neglecting flair which is sacrilege.

    Yep BR will sell.

    ReplyDelete
  47. There are three crucial elements to a player. Strength, pace and flair. Ronaldo has all three and that is why he is the best player in the world. Pace is all well and good but without flair you will never be able to retain possession and that is a crucial element. Apart from Gerrard, no player in our midfield could retain the ball in tight situations like Madrid could. If we are to challenge, we have to play those intricate triangles and flair is crucial for that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. We are gradually becoming a hardworking team with every sale and purchase we make. We are making offensive signings with more than one eye on them tracking back and defending. I have always believed it is better to sign a individual flair player with a good attitude and integrate them into a side rather than signing a team player and teaching them how to play.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I for one am tired of making a case for Suso. We all know the guy has got talent but he is never given a chance. The fact that Milan are relying on Suso to spur their revival from the look of things is enough to at least give him a chance. But, then this was the same Suso who was given a chance ahead of expensive purchases like Downing.. What could have changed?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ah, Litmanen. Those were the days. As you say, a genius footballer, but wasted by Houllier. Fellow Finn Sami Hyypia was also a genius player (for his position), and he's still never been replaced.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Good one. Listen to some though and we're only playing with 5 or 6...:-)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have to admit I am starting to lose faith in BR.

At the moment we are unable to do the even most basic of defending.

Whether it be Sahko/Skrtel/Lovern/Toure etc they are all professional footballers, they have all played at International Level yet they are unable to defend even the most basic of balls.

They look nervous regardless of the opposition. Since BR has come we are going backwards in regards to being able to defend.

Yes our style of play will leave us more open, but that does not mean we stop defending completely.

Then there is Balotelli. I don't have an issue that he took the risk, its more that he insists on playing up him front by himself when its clear to anybody and everybody that he can't do it.

BR's stubbornness reminds me of Rafa's. Both men seem either unable or unwilling to change even when it is bloody obvious to everybody that it is not working.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I just don't get the Suso situation. The few times I have seem him play for us he made an impact. Last seen in preseason. I understand he may be injured at the moment but don't know the nature of the duration of that. You would think that he can't do any worse than Markovic or Balo or Lambert. Maybe he is a first class A-hole in the clubhouse and that's what BR has against him. If so, I get it. If that sort of thing matters though, why the fu%k did we sign balo?

    ReplyDelete
  54. well put..........succinct and sadly correct

  55. what a team player you are helping Chirag Vyas....

    ReplyDelete
  56. yes and Jovetic kills us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. You need to read my statement again.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Will be a tragedy if he leaves, but given his treatment he will go. I really don't understand why BR doesn't play him more often and help develop the lad, he's quality. I've been hoping he breaks through soon, but he'll be gone. Sad, especially for 6m.

    ReplyDelete
  59. To be honest, it's time for Suso to leave as clearly he is not fancied by BR. I just don't understand why.

He gave plenty of chances to Shelvey and Sterling but no Suso. He did well enough last season to warrant a chance but has not been given one. The good thing is that he has time on his side, a move away would do him a world of good.

Funny thing is, I got a feeling he will turn out to be a class player in years to come. At least play him in the FA and C1 Cup.

But then again this is the manager who signed Assaidi and then seldom played him.

Behind BR 100% but some of his decisions, to me from a fan's perspective that is seems a little puzzling.
