'They're watching him' - LFC send scouts to assess 'fantastic' Tippeligaen striker

A renewed focus on the acquisition and development of young players is clearly a major priority under Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, and this week, the club is linked with yet another promising youth star.

According to Sky Sports:

"A host of Premier League clubs are tracking Norwegian hot-shot Bard Finne.

"Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have watched Finne in action over the last year".

At youth level, Finne grabbed 12 goals in 30 games for Brann's B team.

The 18-year-old striker then broke into the SK Brann first team last season, and grabbed four goals in nine appearances for the Norwegian club.

Finne's contract expires in December, but Brann are expecting bids for the player this summer, and given his age (and contract expiry) Brann will probably have to let him go for a pittance.

In a recent interview, SK Brann Head Coach Rune Skarsfjord revealed his delight at the Finne's promotion to the first team. He enthused:

"I am very pleased that Bard is part of Brann's first team. He has some fantastic aspects to his game he will be exciting to work with"

Responding to speculation about Finne's future this week, his Agent, Stig Lillejord, told Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen:

"There have been many scouts in the stands, and I know they've been watching Bard. There are no concrete offers yet though".

  3. i would settle for one world class player but i think we might sign 4or5 average players and get rid of 1or 2 class players

  4. I think Ince is definitely one signing.

  5. Did anyone see Diame's goal, absolute cracker against the mancs! If BR doesn't get him this summer he deserves to be sacked! This guy embodies everything we don't have in our squad!

  6. So may I ask which class player you think LFC should keep, AC?

  7. Yes and no to BR's youth policy. Yes for acquisition of young players but no to developing them. How much better is this boy compared to Samed Yesil? I thought Samed Yesil arrived with an even bigger reputation than this Norwegian boy, something like 6 goals in 7 games for U-17 world cup or something. With Samed Yesil not even making the bench of the first team so chances of this boy doing so is? All I hope for is LFC won't let the present batch of talented youngsters rot in the reserve or youth team for a couple of years and let them go on the cheap, then try doing a 'Tom Ince' later. This regresses the club even further after the ill-fated appointments of Roy Hodgson and Kenny Dalglish. Let's hope BR does not fall into this category and is the right person to led the club back to where it suppose to be.

  12. The music and build up in that Video made the two tap in goals a real let down !!!!

  13. Why another youngster? We have so many of them - Jordan Ibe, Jerome Sinclair, not to mention Joao Texieria and Samid Yesil. Oh and we still have Daniel Sturridge and phillipe Coutinho who are relatively young.
Why are we after more young players? It makes no sense.
Surely the idea of buying youngsters is to get them into the first team, not to boost our under 19s and under 21s side?

  14. Diame's goal was world class! The build up was fantastic and could be a goal of the season contender. Shame West Ham cant play like that week in week out!

  15. I would keep Andy Carroll. Severely under rated in my opinion. We could play Lucas and Gerrard in front of the back four and then have Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho behind Carroll. Loads of goals and some defensive stablity too as Carroll would provide height and strength at set pieces.

  16. I don't want him, I am just saying that LFC will definitely sign him.

  17. TBH Diame has been fairly consistent for Wigan & now West Ham apart from the injuries but even then he still plays with authority. Plus he's 24, would cost under 10mill & he's the closest thing to Yaya in the league. He bossed Utd's midfield which is average, he's done the same to Chelski. With our added quality he could help in our quest for CL. Note this season we lose to top 4 teams & under Rafa we used to do fairly well, yes I recall beating the mancs home & away. The main difference is in the middle, we had monster Mach, Xabi the magician with Stevie. At the mo we have little tenacity & technique & as Stevie is losing his legs, reduced atheleticism. Diame will help redress the imbalance!

  18. Yesil is injured and has been for a couple of months.

  19. if we buy this ad at the right price and he makes it to the first team scores loads of goals, then great, if he doesn't quite make it and we still make a profit when we sell him or even break even what's the problem?
