'Remember the name' - Redknapp raves about 'talented' midfield starlet

Chelsea are going through a bit of a rough time at the moment, but former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes that the future is bright on the playing side, and he's tipped a promising, little-known young player to break into the Stamford Bridge first team and go on to achieve great things for the club.

In his column for the Daily Mail today, Redknapp made the following prediction:

"Remember the name: Nathaniel Nyakie Chalobah.

"On loan at Watford from Chelsea, he is 18, looks comfortable on the ball and will return to Stamford Bridge with a chance of being a first-team contender.

"Chelsea haven’t had many from their production line, but he will break through"

The FA website describes Sierra Leone-born Chalobah - who can play as a defender or a midfielder - as follows:

"Tall, athletic and comfortable in possession, the Chelsea youngster is a calm and composed player in either midfield or defence, both quick in the tackle and also able to play the ball sharply and accurately across the pitch".

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola recently tipped Chalobah as a possible replacement for ageing Blues star Frank Lampard. He told the BBC:

"I knew he was talented, but he [Chalobah] has been a surprise to me. Frank is more an offensive midfielder where he gets on the ball and scores important goals. Nathaniel can be very offensive as well but we are trying to give him the structure of more of a holding midfielder who organises the play from the back"

Chalobah scored for Chelsea against Liverpool in a 2010 reserves match:

In the same column, Redknapp also praised Liverpool's Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho. He enthused:

"Philippe Coutinho is 20 and not as high-profile as some of the Brazilians we have seen coming here, but the little man has happy feet. He dazzled Wigan and while we can focus on Luis Suarez’s brilliant hat-trick, I like what I see from the tricky Coutinho too"

  9. £12m is fairly a good price, £10m would have been better though.
