After a season littered with costly mistakes, it's clear Liverpool's defence is in dire need of an urgent makeover, and hopefully, this will happen during the upcoming summer transfer window. Experienced central defenders will be a priority for the club, but in the meantime, the Reds are looking to the future, and the club is on the verge of signing a very promising central defender.
Reports in Hungary this week claim that Liverpool are on the verge of signing 16-year old Hungarian centre-back Kristof Polgar, who impressed the club's coaches in two successful loan spells in January and early February.
Csakfoci reports that Liverpool have offered Polgar a contract, and according to Tibor Pataky, Director of the Careers Management Group (CMG), which owns Polgar's registration, the deal will be announced 'in a few days'. He explained:
"Kristof trialled with Liverpool on two occasions earlier this year, and he and his parents are currently in Liverpool enjoying the hospitality of the club. We are looking forward to an exciting day, and in a few days, the Hungarian presence at Liverpool will be extended"
In a recent interview, Polgar - who is part of MTK Budapest FC's youth academy - gushed about his love of the Premier League, but also revealed a disturbing allegiance to one of Liverpool's biggest rivals:
"It was fantastic to spend two weeks at the Liverpool academy. I love English football, so it [the transfer] will definitely be the fulfillment of a dream. As I supported Liverpool FC and Manchester United, and to this day I love them both, but Man United is my favorite".
Man United is his favourite club? In January, Veggard Forren was due at Anfield for a trial and Southampton stepped in and snatched him away, so Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself with United boss Alex Ferguson trying to hijack this particular deal deal (!)

Agent Polgar, Man Utd has a job for you!
How can you support Man Utd AND Liverpool... lol
He is a kid he probably has both clubs after him, he is only a baby so lay off.
Good luck to the boy, still a baby so forgive him!!!
we want quality not world class shit
He is 16. Probably The mancs paid hungarian TV to show only manc games.
But to be honest most manc supporters abroad are in the 35 years old and below bracket. Because they have been top of the league consistently and we are not.
Most people prefer to be fame and power that why a lot people support MU but their fanbase is based on that also and they will lose supporter quickly also. Liverpool is unique in its own way, it the never dying belief of the fans that attract me to support the club rather than it's glory but sometimes is really painful to swallow the insult from other clubs but I will still support Liverpool because I love the way the fans lay their faith and I am proud to be one of them too.
This MTK Budapest thing has worked wonders for us in the past so why not?
I went to the England vs Brazil game whilst I was on the bus I overhead a conversation well I was ears dropping. This guy was from Manchester and wait for it he supports Liverpool. They saw my reaction I was shocked and yes it can happen.
I'd love a Hungarian to actually come good for us.
It'd be nice to see Hungary enjoying some success on the international stage, considering their contribution to the evolution of football.
Its not so hard to think of supporting Inter and AC, Real and Barca is it? LFC and United are no different. Clubs are looked upon differently from other countries.
16 years old? That might be good down the line, but won't be helpful in the short term. There's nothing wrong with a little experience.
Why not stay silent then? this article alerts other clubs
Well, there came a few youngsters over from them, but did they actually make any first team appearences between them?
