Utter Shambles: LFC blow it against Southampton. CL still possible...?

According to Reds legend John Aldridge, Liverpool's starting line-up against Southampton today is as follows:

FULL TEAM: Jones, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Allen, Gerrard, Coutinho, Downing, Suarez, Sturridge

SUBS Gulacsi, Wisdom, Henderson, Shelvey, Lucas, Suso, Ibe.

SOUTHAMPTON: Boruc, Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Cork, Lallana, Ramirez, Rodriguez, Lambert.

On Carra's omission, Aldo said:

"Carras out. I've been told he's injured"

Pepe Reina failed a late fitness test so he misses out for the second week in a row.

As I predicted earlier today, Lucas is on the bench, which is a good thing after his poor performance against Spurs, though it's surprising to see Rodgers make that decision.

It's great to see Jordon Ibe on the bench. Having watched him a lot for various youth teams, he's a better prospect than Raheem Sterling IMO, especially in terms of dribbling skills, and ability to take players on. Hopefully, he'll get 15 minutes at some point in the game.

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson predicts a 2-1 victory for the Reds, and argues that his old club have a 'reasonable chance of finishing 5th' in the league. He told the BBC:

"The [LFC] players are playing well and enjoying their football and seeing where it can take them. The Reds have no worries while, in contrast, the pressure is really on at the bottom-of-the-table for Southampton now. They looked jittery in their goalless draw with Norwich last week"

Lawro's former team-mate, Jan Molby believes the Reds will have too much quality upfront for Southampton. He told the Liverpool Echo:

"If Southampton perform anywhere near the level they produced against Man City then it will be a tough game. But they will give you chances and I just feel with our firepower we’ll have too much quality for them"

  1. Phew I thought suarez or gerrard were the ones, big blow if carras out? Come on. For the record qpr beat saints last week at their home so no excuses today, all must win games until the end of season

    ReplyDelete
  2. Lucas on bench, Allen replaces him.

    ReplyDelete
  3. On paper our line-up should be strong enough to beat Southampton, but it seems we are playing 4-2-4 again, a system that hasn't convinced me so far. Let's hope we see an entertaining match with us winning.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Ibe on the bench, hope to see him after a 3:0 lead in 2nd half

    ReplyDelete
  5. allen will play wel todayl. he has a clear role when he and lucas arent playing together. he recycles possession and is tenacious while pressing. i like the lad.

    ReplyDelete
  6. allen as done what to justify his place ,hendo should have started ,talk about games for the boys ,predict one or two nil to the pool ,ps really pissed of for hendo absolute joke

    ReplyDelete
  7. Is this Lucas injury serious? He seems off in the main hardcore games. Hope he recovers quickly. I would like to see this new guy Ibe ( don't know who he is though:( ....) Hope BR could show the youngsters some 20 min game time in the remaining matches for experience sake, if we r in a good winning position. Going for a 4-1 victory today...... pls say it is so!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Id say 0-2 to us,Suarez brace

    ReplyDelete
  9. Should be winning games like todays and expect Liverpool to win it 3-0.

    ReplyDelete
  10. While Jones doesn't fill me with confidence at all, Skrtel has just shown why he was left out recently. Poor positioning and marking there to grant Soton an easy lead.

    ReplyDelete
  11. here we go again...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Allen has the ability to keep possession a lot better than Hendo. But actually having the ball may well be overrated by myself here.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The defence is awful again! How many goals have LFC shipped this season as a result of crap defending? Johnson gave the guy too much space on the right, and Skrtel didn't anticipate the run.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Let's take Skrtel off already. He's not up to it at all.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Leaving Lucas out when we have a weakened back 4 and an extremely dodgy 'keeper is blatantly underestimating Saints who are battling to stay in the league. Just as Rodgers looked like he was starting to get it together too. Poor show. Allem hasn't regained he form or confidence and is carrying a shoulder injury. He'll get bullied left and right.

The last time he massively underestimated the opposition, we got murdered. By Oldham!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes it is a big blow, as it means Skrtel plays.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Can anyone tell me why we are playing so deep?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sorry to remind you, but Lucas' form hasn't been up to standard of late and even declined recently.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We're playing 4-1-3-2 and the players have no idea how to play that formation.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Totally agreed Allen is NOT should not be ahead of Lucas in any Universe, also one bad game against Spurs in comparison to the performances of Allen all season is wrong

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes he's not the same player as he was last season.
However he's got to be better than Allen ..Allen gives away too many fouls in dangerous areas.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Is it me of do our players look like they were on on the piss last night...like a sunday league team with a 09:00am Sunday kick off

    ReplyDelete
  23. To me it seems that we are trying to make poor, comical defending an art-form.

    ReplyDelete
  24. allen is like an amateur player on that pitch! god knows why he is here

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yep totally agree...whenever we start to look decent we are heartbroken by performances like this

    ReplyDelete
  26. what has allen been doing since the beg of this match??? apart from losing possession every time.. amateur players

    ReplyDelete
  27. What has any of our players done so far in this match? Why single out ONE player?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Lucas has been poor, granted. But Allen has been truly awful, his confidence is shot and he's injured. I'd play Hendo ahead of him any day (based on current form).

    ReplyDelete
  29. seems like it

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think if we can say in it at 1-0 we will get a dominant spell at some point in the game, its that we have to be ruthless when we get it

    ReplyDelete
  31. Allen today has been a lot worse than Suso was in any of those games when he was dishonorably withdrawn from the game so early. We need to get him off the pitch asap.

Skrtel and Agger are asking to be subbed off early also tbh...

    ReplyDelete
  32. well that idea is gone out the f**cking window

    ReplyDelete
  33. There goes going into half-time a goal down.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Skrtel should never be in a LFC kit again ...

    ReplyDelete
  35. lol shouldnt laugh ...like ive said a lucky win aginst spurs and beating a couple of bum teams doesnt makes us that good....Allen back in the team and its buiness as usual ..in rogers we trust

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ah, come on. He's free to buy himself a replica kit and run around in it in his spare-time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Once again this team showing its true form. Always a letdown when the going gets tough. Maybe Rodgers out of his depth...

    ReplyDelete
  38. you just keep believing that ....also if anyones interested elvis is playing a gig on my roof in the knack after

    ReplyDelete
  39. No surprise that the game after Gerrard talks about a 'perfect finish' we don't even turn up. Happens every time a senior player or the manager comes out making statements about the top 4. Seasons after season. It's just embarrassing now. Wish they'd keep out of the press and concentrate on putting in 100% every game.

    ReplyDelete
  40. nearly there m8 right score wrong team...hendo must be watching this from the bench thinking what have i got to do...rogers will probably bring hendo on with 3 mins to go and blame the result on him

    ReplyDelete
  41. and rodgers gonna come and say we were unlucky.. and 'if countinho scored that goal just before half half we were back in the game. it was a world class save by the keeper'

    ReplyDelete
  42. Half time match report.

    Rodgers: "Our players were outstanding"

    ReplyDelete
  43. forget about skertl.. the team cannot put more than 3 pass together!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just like you keep singling out one player while ignoring the poor performance of our entire team. Gerrard is gifting the opposition possession quite regularly for a player of his ilk, for example.

    ReplyDelete
  45. they really are cutting us up ..have we won one ball in midfield

    ReplyDelete
  46. Im usually a big supporter of Allen but even I cant defend him today, nor any of the team really

    ReplyDelete
  47. yes he made amends for his miss

    ReplyDelete
  48. Great to see that Soton have learnt the art of poor defending from us already.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just as your comments then. Since when are we holding press conferences at half-time?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Change of formation/personnel at half time and we should still win this.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Allen refuses to pass forward if you watch him he rarely passes forward. I hope that Rogers takes him off for the second half

    ReplyDelete
  52. as I said they wont be able to keep the intensity all game so we will get our chance but we need to take it

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sturridge is so selfish! open goal for downing and he takes it when hes not even facing the goal. He is very lucky it fell to coutinho. Cant believe we are down by one only. 4-0 to soton would be deserved. zero energy shown by our players, i dont think it helps that the atmosphere is so dead!

    ReplyDelete
  54. The second goal we've conceded was unlucky indeed. Wicked deflection.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It was a joke. Not a funny one admittedly! No need to get defensive.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Gerrard's the only player to have shown any sort of quality throughout the first half.

Although Suarez and Coutinho deserve plaudits for the goal of course too

    ReplyDelete
  57. i was wrong... Allen is playing horribly. and just bullied off the ball constantly. how can a two meter pass miss by three meters. just sad performance

    ReplyDelete
  58. Id say Hendos work rate and energy would help us get a grip of the game

    ReplyDelete
  59. You surely have a point here. Problem is that nowadays with the internet and pay-TV channels, 24/7 coverage is required. Therefore, there has to be an interview almost every day.

    ReplyDelete
  60. if we are to pull this game back we really need to step up a gear...our passing has been shocking.....the back 4 is constantly being exposed and is getting no protection

    ReplyDelete
  61. And Gerrard with his constant passes to the opposition. Or Johnson. There aren't many, if any, not worthy of a substitution.

    ReplyDelete
  62. hopefully we can show our class in 2nd half, we should absolutely dominate possesion but we arent, the coutinho goal may give us the needed confidence

    ReplyDelete
  63. i hope we get sakho and de vrij. what has happened to our defence during summer

    ReplyDelete
  64. If anyone wants a indication as to who is likely to feature next season as a CENTER BACK look at the Subs Bench ...Wisdom.

    ReplyDelete
  65. ive mentioned also the whole teams passing is shocking....allens form does not merit a start ...thats my biggest bugbear...picking favourites over form

    ReplyDelete
  66. True. I do wish they'd kick on every time they make such statements, rather than thinking they can can just coast to 3 points.
As far as todays game goes, I think a return to the usual formation at half time, and maybe the addition of Hendo and we could get a grip of this game.

    ReplyDelete
  67. there is a huge lack of strength and drive in midfield when Gerrard isnt on form. In hindsight the midfield choice was very poor, I think Stevie needs someone buzzing around that he trusts so he can drive us forward. Hopefully second half we will mtfu and take control

    ReplyDelete
  68. we'll see....

    ReplyDelete
  69. The more I see of Couthnio the more the more I like this player

    ReplyDelete
  70. It doesn't show, though. Maybe our bad performance wasn't down to Allen after all.

    ReplyDelete
  71. as good as courtino looks if we are playing him in midfield we really do need a monster in there to balance it out

    ReplyDelete
  72. allen is off phew

    ReplyDelete
  73. Well, we went in only a goal down, but it doesn't look as if we were to make any efforts to change the outcome, so far.

    ReplyDelete
  74. we are just an average team.. i cant see any progress from last season

    ReplyDelete
  75. dont be silly jonjo no finals or europe next year means we are doing just fine

    ReplyDelete
  76. Today we don't look better than last season, granted.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Johnson and Sturridge have been very below par today.

    ReplyDelete
  78. shocking perfomance

    ReplyDelete
  79. i dont get that skrtel even bothers to moan about not playing. He is horrible.... absolute garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Maybe today the entire team wants to prove to Rodgers that they deserved to be in one of the envelopes for letting the club down.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Bar Suarez. He seems to be the only one who wants to win this one.

    ReplyDelete
  82. is Allen any relation of Rodger?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Why didn't anyone tell Gerrard that he shouldn't pass to the guys in red today?

    ReplyDelete
  84. what the hell is the point of putting hendo on for 8 minutes?

    ReplyDelete
  85. FFS, 3-1!!!! just no consistency in this squad... up one week ... the pittance the next!

    ReplyDelete
  86. What's the point in giving up 8 minutes from time, even if it seems very, very unlikely that we get anything out of this match?

    ReplyDelete
  87. actually we score doesnt reflect the game.. it should have been at least 5 for southampton

    ReplyDelete
  88. do you think Rodgers will say the performance was really good but the lads were tired

    ReplyDelete
  89. so he can blame him for the result....he could score 3 and allen would still get picked

    ReplyDelete
  90. lucas again not doing much interms of stopping people running through the middle......we need some steel in our defensive and midfield over the summer. Really bad day at the office for alot of our players....

    ReplyDelete
  91. Sturridge was poor anyways, hendo should have came on a lot earlier

    ReplyDelete
  92. rodgers is a joke.. i keep saying it. he doesnt have any tactical knowledge or anything.. he just tell the players to go and pass the ball. he thinks every team can play barcelona way

    ReplyDelete
  93. he will say we are rusty because we are out of all the cup competitions...truth is we played a tired spurs team and got lucky ..and thrashed two teams with an eye on the cup...whats funny is some on here see getting thrashed by teams like wba..stoke and Southampton as bona fida progress ...me i just cant see it

    ReplyDelete
  94. YGBSM!!!!!! What was up with THAT? It's so F#*&(^@*&^ DEFLATING to witness such a TOTAL collapse of a team. How can you beat Tottenham and get so roundly crushed by bottom-feeders...routinely? I'm sorry. It's laziness. You can't tell me Soton is a more talented team...we've just got some lazy defenders.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Today was very predictable.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yep, and it has been like that for years. Our trouble with lowly teams that is.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I wish I had your mind-reading abilities.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Funny how many cried for his introduction then.

    ReplyDelete
  99. One word to describe Liverpool today....SHITE

    ReplyDelete
  100. Well, yes and no. If we were to substitute all under-performers today, we could have changed all but Suarez at half-time.

    ReplyDelete
  101. totally agree, totally showed his class today, off form but was the only one running. He did some better defending than johnson and skrtl! Coutinho's work effort was also good

    ReplyDelete
  102. I know but Hendo should have come on no later then 65 min,we were pathetic today,Id say its the worst performance this season

    ReplyDelete
  103. we lost because we are poor!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Today reflects the lack of quality in the squad:

1.No real competition for GJ who was shocking.

2.Allen is not a first 11 player-please get Diame, Allen can shine his shoes as part of the deal.

3.No competition for Sturridge who was awful today.

    4. Skrtel well enough said- he deserves a public flogging and to use his wages to fund the Sahko deal.

BR in his defence has a limited squad in terms of quality but should have played Carra & Lucas then sub them if he was woried about fatigue

    ReplyDelete
  105. Usually optimistic but defence was pathetic today.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Why would BR play Allen instead of Henderson or Lucas?

    What is he playing at?

    ReplyDelete
  107. We were very poor. Sturridge in the last 2 games has been utterly disgraceful. Not only did he lose the ball but once lost he failed even to rectify it - in order to play him we sacrifice the effeciveness of Suarez.

    ReplyDelete
  108. rodgers is a joke and i keep saying it. he thinks its playstation.. he just tells the players to go and keep possession. he doesnt have any tactical knowledge. he just got a big mouth and fooling liverpool fans with his supposedly beautiful and attractive football.lol there's no progress from last season. last season the team the team went on two cup finals, and this guy is making as if he has inherited a very poor team and is telling us to wait. he is just buying time

    ReplyDelete
  109. buying time! yes, i totally agree

    ReplyDelete
  110. the result doesnt surprise me ....the midfield of allen gerrad and tino is never gonna work in away games..ALLEN IS NOT UP TO IT ....Rogers trys to slip him in when he thinks we are playing well and it always backfires...just wayw way to lightweight .....it will be interesting to see if we finish higher than last year because we have some dog fights coming up ..and allen and co cant hack it

    ReplyDelete
  111. Carra was injured

    ReplyDelete
  112. So you would fire Rodgers?

    ReplyDelete
  113. we are at villa next week that will be another tough away game

    ReplyDelete
  114. its not our decision so the question is academic

    ReplyDelete
  115. Thanks for the correction, but still worth picking though Skrtel was beyond terrible, It highlights the lack of depth!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Very poor today.

I think Rodgers has to take some flak. Carra being out wasn't his fault I understand (which I didn't realise at the time, though on the back of that performance, you just think anyone but Skrtel would have been better), but dropping Lucas was an error. I think Allen is a good player, but the more I watch him, the surer I am that he can't play in a midfield 2 and needs to be part of a central 3 in midfield (which effectively makes him an extremely expensive tactical 'option' rather than a starter). He isn't strong enough to play DM and not good enough off the ball to play AM. Lucas hasn't been great, but he has tactical discipline and wont be bullied in the way that Allen is.

Also, as soon as I heard Rodgers talking 'top 4' bollocks in the week, I became convinced that we wouldn't get a win. It is like Groundhog Day- we get a little head of steam and then someone starts spouting shite about we'll do this and that. It is completely counter-productive.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Expert analysis.
    I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Cruel how things change. One minute, we laud the team's form in this period and how its up there with the best in the league and poking fun for Sahin not hitting the ground running and not starting games after his criticism of Rodgers and the next minute, we lose to a recently promoted side in such a poor manner and Sahin gets 2 goals & 1 assist in his latest game.

    ReplyDelete
  119. think he got 7 mins still is fault ,allen stank today but it,s not his fault

    ReplyDelete
  120. hey allen fanboy, go back supporting swansea and take your beloved allen and rodgers with you

    ReplyDelete
  121. He was injured for nearly a full year, so it was serious.
Whether he will recover is another issue. I think he will. He is a good professional, and it isn't like he can get any slower.

    ReplyDelete
  122. lucas > allen. nuff said

    ReplyDelete
  123. its the manner of the defeat that alarms me ...we have been thrashed several times this year by average teams ..that never happened last year ...im not banging the drum for kenny and co ....but as bad as we wrer last year we didnt get thrashed by average teams villa will be licking there lips

    ReplyDelete
  124. lol but its the truth

    ReplyDelete
  125. getting worse week in week out...imho your beloved idol should never wear lfc shirt again...ever..

    ReplyDelete
  126. the owners will not make a change in manager and I could understand that but there is a real need for for an old head to advise the Americans and to be a link with Rodgers. The latter may not like that but tough.
St John, Roy Evans are names which come to mind

    ReplyDelete
  127. i don,t know about the worse, theres so many to pick from:-(

    ReplyDelete
  128. i acctually think your being unfair to SHITE

    ReplyDelete
  129. A very fair assessment; well said

    ReplyDelete
  130. Frustrating isn't it

    ReplyDelete
  131. without doubt one of the worst performances i,ve ever seen ,and please no one post me about rodgers and his plans, sick to death of it now worse manager i can ever remember ,allen one of the worst players ever to pull on a red shirt, improvement on last season my arse

    ReplyDelete
  132. A poor effort all round Sturridge played his second horrible game in a row we were belted in the midfield Hendo should have started.
On Skrtel i think he has lost interest i am pretty sure his days are numbered this was one game we were let down badly by our better players.

    ReplyDelete
  133. you seem pretty quick to single out skertal we all have players we prefere

    ReplyDelete
  134. That never happened last year? All right, this puts all your comments into context for me.

    ReplyDelete
  135. the better players cannot do a great deal when the rest are so bad, they can only be supermen so much

    ReplyDelete
  136. I really am surprised at you knowledge. As hard as I try, I couldn't tell what Rodgers thinks, but if I had to guess, I wouldn't guess he thinks this is playstation. He doesn't have any tactical knowledge? He's made him a good career out of that then so far.

Aside from the cup finals, we were in relegation form for the second half of the season. Think there is no point in trying to twist things as if Rodgers took over a team of world beaters. We were lucky to win the Rumbelows cup against a second tier team, on pens.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Midfield and attack didn't do better, though.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Two more thoughts:

If not Lucas why not Henderson? Better at playing a pressing game and seems more comfortable in a midfield 2.

Well played Brad Jones. I don't think he is a good enough all around goalkeeper to be no.1, but I think he is fabulous in 1-on-1 situations (which Reina used to be good at, but now he just falls to his knees like Willem Dafoe in Platoon).

    ReplyDelete
  139. Allen is Not a Holding MF

Sturridge looks out of form, obviously and a little selfish.

Suarez had no service and underwhelmed...and then loses his temper in a very stupid way.

    What a complete disappointment.

    ReplyDelete
  140. The last three wins didn't mean LFC are going to win the league, and this defeat doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Defeats are inevitable, which is why things have to be considered in context. So the club lost a game. Big fecking deal. Massively Disappointing, yes; Armageddon? No.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I still think that Roy was our worst manager in recent years. Souness wasn't that great either. And I also know many players much worse than Allen, and much less talented, to wear our shirt.

Glad to hear your arse has improved on last year though :-) (I consider that as a joke and not as an offence).

    ReplyDelete
  142. No today ws the worst,West Brom,Aston Villa and stoke and the likes we all had chances to win it,multiple chances,we had almost NONE today thats the difference

    ReplyDelete
  143. In fairness to Gilstrap, who admittedly is a bit harsh (for me) on Rodgers at times, we only really had this kind on performance in the second half of last season (which was dire, but I find it easier to explain than the consistent inconsistency under Rodgers) but this kind of surrender has been peppered throughout this season.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Speaking of how things can twist and turn on a knife's edge, I can't help thinking what would have happened if the ref would have let Suarez go through on goal when their centre-back slipped and a foul was wrongly called. Only 1-0 then. They scored a 2nd soon after.

    ReplyDelete
  145. You sound like my father.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Yes, Coutinho should get away with some credit, too.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Is that a good thing? Am I like Darth Vadar type Father or Leave it to Beaver type father?

    ReplyDelete
  148. A fucking abstract art form if you ask me.
...or maybe it is sculpture since our players stand around like statues.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Coutinho and Enrique both missed big chances.

    ReplyDelete
  150. ...or better yet, Michael Jordan.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Well, it's still wrong to claim that it NEVER happened last year.

I think we've had games like this for years. Games in which I watch wondering why our players obviously don't want to win enough, where the other team simply wants it more. You are right, this season has been littered with performances like this, and some blame has to go towards Rodgers. Having said that, in the past I also blamed the players for their poor attitude and the same applies here.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Yep, you can't say it never happened.
It has been a consistent theme for Liverpool for 20+ years now.
We are a club that loves tradition, after all.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Not at all. To say Rodgers is a joke would certainly suggest to me that wanting him sacked would be a possibility. Why have any opinion about anything if it is academic? Just because it is not going to have a bearing is not a reason to have an opinion about something..?

I'm just trying to distinguish between someone letting off steam and actually wanting some action.

Personally, as frustrating a result as it was, I certainly do not feel attacking the manger to that extent is constructive; unless you genuinely feel you would like a change or something fairly critical to be implemented.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Yes. We did have chances. The defensive performance was pathetic and we were hardly free-flowing but frustrations shouldn't be over-riding facts.

    ReplyDelete
  155. im not one for Wikipedia but we got thrashed twice once at city and once at spurs ...we didnt get dicked by the likes of stoke

    ReplyDelete
  156. Hilarious this....After Brenda banging on about 4th place and all that,
Afraid to tell you my deluded souls, that normal service has resumed! Finish below Everton, no silverware....all after spending a princely sum of 48 million!! nevermind, you might recoup that when Suarez leaves for a genuine big club!, now wheres my glass of Chang? x

    ReplyDelete
  157. If one word to describe Liverpool is SHITE, does that in turn mean one word to describe SHITE is Liverpool?
I'm here, still asking the big questions.

    ReplyDelete
  158. its the manner of the defeats jaimie...

    ReplyDelete
  159. rogers falls out with players then realizes he may have to use them...

    ReplyDelete
  160. it kills rogers to pick hendo over allen ...his ego wont allow it..thats my main misgiving of him as a manager

  163. Normal service. Tell that to the past 2 decades.

Also, an Evertonian, having a go at a club for not winning silverware. You're not even throwing stones from your glass house in that one- a glass house is infinitely too structurally sound to act as a metaphor for your comment. You're throwing stones from a fucking toilet paper house, which is appropriate for a deluded turd.

Also, if Suarez leaves, we'll get by. When Fowler left, we had Owen to soften the blow, when Owen went we eventually got Torres and when he left we got Suarez. You haven't had a player equivalent to any of those since the 1980s.

Remember, this season isn't seen as a good one by Liverpool fans. Moyes said today that Evertonians are watching a 'very good Everton team'. A team so good that you wont get into Europe and still wont win a trophy. You're in for a great future.

Enjoy your Chang. It is cheap shite that you'd only drink if nothing else was available. Now that is an appropriate metaphor...

  165. There were a couple of games- Bolton is one that springs to mind. There were a few after the turn of February last season.

  166. Spot on Jamie. Like everyone I`m gutted we won, but truth is some people are only happy if we win every single game, and even then I`ve watched people slate the team after we win. It`s a bit shameful, as at times it feels like our fans are worse than Chelseas.

The problem isn`t that we lost today, these things happen. Utd lost to QPR who were bottom not so long ago. You will never win every game, and you will never win all the winnable games. The reason it seems to cause such outrage right now, is that due to our poor start, unless we win every game right now, people are on the war path. Football though isn`t like that, and its unrealistic to expect your team to win every game ever.

My worry is all these haters, with unrealistic views, will hound out our manager, then do the same with the next, and the next, basically spending all possible transfer money on settlements to get rid of staff. Then at the end, when we are doomed, will prob blame someone else.

  171. 100% agree. When did we turn into a club who have worse fans than Chelsea. You know at times its shocking. When I look back at how badly we have treated some players, I`m still amazing this myth about us being the best fans is around, cause we aint, we are not even close. Lucas, should have left us, as we treated him like he was worthless, Allen has been treated the same, so has Downing, and Hendo, and ohh so many others. I`m, sure we all agree that Allen isn`t a word beater, but he is a Liverpool player, and he does try. Funny thing is though, when they turn it around, the haters, soon change there tune. Personally, I would actually like it if Suarez left, and said on his departure, this is due to how badly some of the fans treat some of the players, of course this would never happen, but maybe then, and only then would some people wake up to there own abusive nature.

  172. it was unfair to shite today because we were worse than that

    ReplyDelete
  173. So now Everton are closer to the top four than we are. God that's a depressing sight.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I very much doubt he picks anyone just cause there his buddies...Your a clever guy Gilstrap, so I`m sure you know this too. If we are talking this game only, Allen was def not alone in not having a great game, of course the whole loss was down to Allen, defense were perfect, Attack perfect, but Allen, he gave away all 3 goals. We both know that aint the truth. Lucas hadn`t been playing to well of late, and was replaced with Allen, on paper it makes sense. From what I have seen all season, Rodgers strongest point is he picks players on form, and if there form dips, they get replaced, and thats such a great thing too see. The theory I guess is the player who comes in, will want to give the performance of his life to keep that spot. It also shows players if you play bad, your dropped. He dropped Allen when Allen went off the boil, so it makes sense, and seems only fair to do the same to others. The loss today was by the team, who mostly all played way below par, minus one of two tops.

  175. oh i thought we were going to win the league, and like i said improvement on last season my arse some of the worst performances ever this season to many to list, not just getting beat getting hammered by lets face it the sides at the bottom of the league ,there not there by chose there there because every man and there dogs beating them ,we make them look like barcalona

  176. wet away game ....front 3 downing tino sturridge...middle 3 of lucas hendo and gerrad ....allen set the tone .....when we go a goal behind we tend to collapse ...allen in midfield =no momentum = other team grows in confidence = us losing

  184. It'd probably just make wee Joe Allen more nervous.

    ReplyDelete
  185. If Coutinho's had gone in, Enrique's would have mattered. The point is goals change games.
No denying that we were well below par.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Well, they were undoubtedly good politicians, though they were questionable (understatement) humans.

More pertinently though: people like to slag off the League Cup win, saying we scraped it against a Championship side, but we had to beat City, Chelsea and Stoke (away, at the Britannia) to get there.

    ReplyDelete
  187. BR has had everything his own way no comolli and his record does not warrant this but kenny has won 4 titles and been treated like shit BR has to go and FSG they take 20m off standard and chartd. 25m off warrior and 60m off sky plus 30m+ gate money thats 135+ they turn a good profit

    ReplyDelete
  188. i was worried about him, cos he cant seem to hold onto shots. but he kept us in the game. his save for the third goal was almost increadible.

    ReplyDelete
  189. he does go missing a lot though.

  190. Why shift the posts by now adding the price tag?

    ReplyDelete
  191. Well, if the Suarez situation arose as you described it, the haters surely would blame him and give him all sorts of names.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I didn't notice that Zanatos referred to you at all. And this "superfan" thing, too, is starting to get boring. For all I know it is you who portrays himself as a superfan, if that existed at all. Why is it that you have to insult people in one way or the other as soon as their opinion differs from yours?

Furthermore, it would be very kind of you if you'd stop claiming or making allusions about anybody happy with a game or result like today's. THAT makes YOU the superfan, Jason. You are not the only one who's unhappy or even upset, so don't portray you as one of very few who care.
