'I'd love to play there' - LFC chase €12m striker who 'dreams' of the Prem

With the futures of Fabio Borini and Luis Suarez up in the air at the moment, Liverpool continue to look at alternate striking options, and Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike is apparently one of the players on the club's wanted list.

Reports yesterday claim that the Reds are monitoring the Spartak Moscow striker as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez (!), and according to Sky Sports, Liverpool and Arsenal sent scouts to watch Eminike perform in the African Cup of Nations, where the 25-year old grabbed four goals.

A few days ago, Reporters quizzed Eminike about interst from the Reds and the Gunners, and he seemed very happy to be linked with a move to the Premier League. He enthused:

"I am playing in Russia at the moment and I have a contract that I intend to respect, but to be linked with the Premier League is a dream come true. I would love to play there in my career. There are many great clubs there."

Last week, Bynamo Kiev striker Brown Ideye - who plays alongside Emenike for Nigeria - outlined the €12m-rated striker's qualities on the field. He told Naij:

"Emenike is strong and understands being a partner to another striker. It's rare to find a partner who understands the way you want a pass to come. We have only being together for a few weeks but there is great understanding between us.

"He knows when to slow down the ball and keep it until there is someone to play with. A selfish partner can be frustrating but with him, you only need to be at the right place to get the right pass."

As a potential replacement for Fabio Borini, perhaps, but to replace Suarez? No chance. If the Uruguayan leaves Anfield, Liverpool have to spend big on an experienced, top class striker in a similar mould.

  1. Why is everyone saying "to replace Suarez?"I think Suarez will give it at least another season as he has just signed a contract.

  2. There are no experienced top class strikers in his mould that we could possibly afford, unless we come up with 200mil to match the Messi release clause!

  3. Same here, I don't understand why every striker we are linked to in the gossip column a replacement for Suarez.

  4. I think it is time the Yanks sold up. They took on this club knowing nothing about football or the EPL. The Yanks see us as a money making scheme. Nothing else. We need an owner who'll inject solid money into our club and bring in Mourinho or maybe Ancelotti. We'll then attract the right type of player unlike Bodgers who attracts the Arthur Daley type player at the moment....  Rant over.
