LFC hero blasts: £19m 'nutcase' wouldn't last 'five minutes' at Anfield. Hypocrisy...?

During his time in the Premier League, former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli became the archetypal whipping boy for a series of ex-Liverpool players. Over the last year, Steve Nicol, Didi Hamann, Alan Hansen, Mark Lawrenson and Graeme Souness had all stuck the knife into Balotelli at one time or another, and now, Tommy Smith has delivered one final parting shot.

LFc legends have been lining up to slate Balotelli: Lawro recently labelled Balotelli - who joined AC Milan this week in a £19m deal - 'an absolute disgrace'; Nicol claimed that his 'demeanour hurts City'; Hamann insisted that he 'wouldn't want him on my team; Hansen called him a 'damaging distraction;, and Souness labelled the Italian a 'liability'.

Kenny Dalglish also jumped on the bandwagon last week, when he told The Mirror:

"Balotelli is damaging the club, and is a problem Mancini doesn't need. It is not as if Balotelli is an out and out genius whose talent is at a level where it compensates for his eccentricities"

In his column for the Liverpool Echo today, Smith joined in the Balotelli barracking, arguing:

"Mario Balotelli is a nutcase who would not have lasted five minutes in any dressing room I’ve been in. I shudder to think what Shanks or Bob Paisley would have made of him. It doesn’t matter how talented you are, it’s all about attitude".

Smith et al may be right about Balotelli, but their overwrought complaints reek of breathtaking hypocrisy, especially when compared to their collective silence during Luis Suarez's many past transgressions.

Smith also had a word of warning for new signing Philippe Coutinho:

"I hope our new young Brazilian Philippe Coutinho is very different [to Balotelli]. He’s clearly got lots of ability and potential. But he should get his head down, embrace our magnificent club and its fans, and give everything he has each time he pulls on a red shirt. If he puts Liverpool FC and the supporters first, not just himself, he can become a big hit".

Coutinho has only been at the club for five minutes, yet he's already being unfairly tarred with the latently xenophobic 'foreign players don't try as hard as homegrown players' brush. Why wouldn't he 'get his head down' straight from the off? Why wouldn't the Brazilian 'put LFC and the supporters first'?

There's absolutely nothing to suggest that Coutinho is like Balotelli in any way, and I'm sure that will be proven over the rest of the season.

  3. lucas isnt a problem , infact i cant think of any problematic players at our club , i remember tommy smith assaulted kevin keegan so tommy needs to stop pointing his finger as there's 3 other fingers on his and pointing right back at him , when keegan had black eye , what did bod do to tommy , as tommy says shanks or bob wouldnt have any of that nonsense, with out the overseas players our league would be like the scottish league , we have the best league on the planet because we attract quality overseas players , as much as i love tommy smith , i have to say he would get a sniff in the liverpool team of today as he would be a laibility , red cards every 5 games , for violent conduct but he could play , when he wasnt busie smashing legs

  4. Mario & luis are 2 different animals, luis gives his all for the team, we all know his faults but off the pitch as well he,s said to be a quiet family man, balo is a posing, posturing pri*k

  5. Come on Jaimie every hacker and blog owner on the planet has had something disparaging to say about Balotelli, And to some extent Tommy is right, we have had our share prima donna's and managers who have not put them in their place from day one, and not all from Italy.

  8. Correct. Balotelli isn't racist.

  9. Typical comments from ex-players and, in particular Smith who hasn't played the game for over 40 years. Mario Ballotelli's issues are none of Liverpool's business. They need to concentrate on there own very average team. It will take years, if ever, to qualify for a CL place. Anyone who doesnt thinks so should look at their small club mentality. Some actually believe Jordan Henderson, Downing, Skertal, Sturridge and most of the rest are CL quality players. And they are very unlikely to be able to compete for the best in the transfer market.

  10. How on earth is there a supposed comparison to be made between Suarez and Ballotelli? Are you seriously suggesting that because they are both "controversial" and get talked about lots in the papers that they are therefore similar players? You might as well include Britney Spears in that comparison too then, she's controversial. Anyone who slates Ballotelli but has not clearly expressed a distaste towards the antic of Ms Spears is a massive hypocrite. Although that's actually not what the word "hypocrite" means, but I do get what you're trying to say, as absurd and pointlessly sensationalist as it may be.

  11. To be fair, all the problems Suarez has had have been on the pitch his commitment cannot be questioned. Whereas with Balotelli you have a guy on astronomical wages constantly fooling around on and off the pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  12. By this 'some', I take it you mean Rodgers, Ian Ayre and FSG. Most of the fans realise we can't compete for the best, but the deluded Ian Ayre keeps on stating the contrary. Tragic!

  13. Two different problems.
Balotelli is an amazing player but his fault are not only off field distractions but he will just stop trying on a field when he doesnt get his way. If he feels hard done by he will get a red card for a stupid tackle.
Suarez's transgressions are more PR problems. off the field he is a family man but on the field he attracts controversy but when its going well or not he always gives 100% on the field and for liverpool.

  14. Deary me, have we all forgot what Luis did? Mario is a distraction but Luis is a problem??? Figure??? Mario is silly and needs to grow up, one day he will and will be a great player to have but not right now.

Luis is a racist and a cheat. Everything he does gets diluted when he opens his mouth or dives or does something else stupid.

In conclusion they are both a problem end if

I see mario has slagged off life in our country, if i was a city fan id be well disappointed in him, the guy was paid a fortune & idolised by their fans but never seemed to be a team player, just out for himself, i dont know wether some of the stories about him splashing the cash with fans are true or not but the guy just seems ti be seriously in love with him self, for the investment city put into him he failed to deliver overall

  21. Haha, you're labelling Sturridge and Skrtel as average players? You forget that this conversation is about an average overprice ex Man City player. No offense mate, but I'd rather have Sturridge, Skrtel, Henderson and Downing than Ballotelli. He doesn't actually possess that much quality. Massively overrated if you ask me. Same as the majority of the City team. You can't really slate Liverpool, without first looking at your own team. Most of your players are either; Overpriced, overrated or don't even care about the club. The best thing is, Mancini has no sense of discipline whatsoever. They walk all over him.

  23. I agree with what they all say about Balotelli he is a nutter, but there is something about him that makes you hope he will sort himself out and become the player he so obviously could become so I wish him the best at Milan, by the way do you give yourself warnings about sniping JK? as I see you have had yet another one at Suarez..

  24. theres a complete difference between suarez and balotelli. luis may be controversial  but other than really the evra incident all of suarez controversial moments have been out of a sheer desire to win games. so where this could be looked at as cheating, suarez can also be looked at as a winner with an immense amount of determenation. for the fact that suarez was even in the back of the net to try and help uruguays defence shows his commitment. imagine if suarez handballed the ball on the line for us in a final against manchester united and we go on to win the game? he will be a bigger legend than he already is. suarez also puts 100% into every match and if there was 10 other players like suarez in liverpools starting 11 who want to win at all cost's for the fans, we would probly win the premier league. mario balotelli is a 'magnificent' player and although only 22, is a finished article already. his talent is ridiculous but his attitude towards the game is very poor. choosing when to give 100% for your team is not good enough and this is what balotelli does, its his arrogance that gets him into fights, red cards and so on. he is a player who holds grudges, if he is fouled in a way he didnt like without recieving a free-kick, he will not think if i go foul him back i will get a card and risk the team going down to 10 men. its this arrogance that sums up maio balotelli's all round game. him and suarez's controversies are very different. i think the criticism that goes to suarez is unfair and the extent it goes to is outrageous suarez doesnt go to clubs to party the night before a premier league game and get drunk or turn around to his coach and say no to his managers orders or get into various fights with his teammates. but saying all of this, i would have loved to have mario balotelli a liverpool as he is world class and with the family we have here at liverpool i think we could have changed his character alot as he would loved and treated well. £19m could be a very wise investment for a player with his best days a good 6 years ahead of him

  27. So Funny. So you would prefer to have downing, skirtel and Henderson to Silva, Yaya, Nasri etc etc . Sturridge is a really good player but I would not swap him for Aguero. Saurez on the other hand is an awesome player who would get in most teams and works hard for the team.

  28. Suarez is nothing like Balotelli, whoever suggests that, clearly doesn`t watch either of them much. Balotelli is fine on the pitch, even if he looks like he don`t want to be there, all his problems come from his stuff off the pitch, Suarez, is a model pro off the pitch, and his problems come from how he acts on it. The two are like Chalk and cheese to me. Both are talented, good players, but one is a nightmare to have in your team and doesn`t look a team player, and the other (Suarez) is a real team player, who does everything he can for his team, to the extent he will even go beyond what the press like. I don`t condone cheating at all, but I do feel he gets singled out. Even in the Arsenal game there was a clear dive, which resulted in a card for the Arsenal player, it didn`t even make the back pages after. One of the problems football has right now IMO, is instead of looking at things openly, there seems to be a movement towards singling out certain players, as if to say the other are all perfect, and the problem is very small and just down to these one or two. I don`t think anything will change until the press, and powers that be, start to look at how often cheating happens in almost every game. While we continue to act like it is just a few, and make them the scape goats, so we can sit back and admire our wonderful league, full of non cheats, we wont get anywhere.

I see no reason why Continho was even brought up by Smith. I can`t find anything anywhere to suggest they are alike, in terms of on the pitch or off it.

  31. ah, god bless em! some have very short memories of a time when man city were a yo-yo club, never anywhere near cup finals let alone winning silverware. all not so very long ago. now, a couple of sugar daddies throw daft amounts of cash at the place and they think they have the divine right to belittle our club. our club who has earned the right to be spoken in the same breath as madrid, barca, munich, ajax and dare i say it...(sick bag please), the bigger side of manchester. man city, chelsea, pre-windfall, were rightly spoken about in terms of success.............oh no, that's right, they weren't. ok, as a 'team', we may not be as strong as we once were, while man city  are stronger than they have ever been. that's why the trophy count, post windfall, is so cavernous in terms of numbers. oh, my mistake. there isn't very many in it, is there? considering our players are short on quality and we are unlikely to attract any players worth talking about, versus, the club who can attract the best in the world, (not strictly true), my 'small club mentality' , stills tells me that i would much rather have liverpool fc in my life, as success (call it history if you wish), was earned the right way. true, man city in the 60's/70's eraned some success the right way too. correct me if i'm wrong, i apologise if i am, but i wouldn't say that you were around in those days. i would guess you have only seen football in modern times. everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's just that some opinions are expressed through rose tinted glasses and blinkers. diamond encrusted glasses and blinkers no doubt.

  34. To be political, as wrong as it was, slavery wasn`t a racist thing, but rather something which had been going on for thousands of years, by hundreds or different civilisations ranging from the Spanish, English French through to the Egyptians and long before. To increase there own countries ability to build, increase power and wealth. It just happened that with the case you are refering to, the weaker and most easy to enslave people at that time were in Africa. Had that been America, then I`m pretty sure it would have been the Americans who were slaves. The very nature of slavery isn`t to pick on people due to there skin or race, but to pick on people who are weaker, and easier to control, for your own benifits.

It become a racist thing after it had ended, and people were left in countries they hadn`t been born in, and had become viewed as lesser people.

Of which all ended many moons ago in the western world, and ironically the slave owning countries became some of the least racist countries, and helped changed the worlds view on it all, and pushed the rights for people of all skin colors and races to be treated equal.

Of course some people can`t move on, and still like to think those countries are still the worst, but for me I see no logic in suggesting that said country hundreds of years ago had slaves, therefore a man born today is a racist. If anything that is the exact thinking which a racist would prob have, as that person is grouping people as one, and for no reason other than a dislike and due to there race.

I get the guys post was not to your liking, nor mine either, but felt I should clear up the racist bit.

From my own experience, the most Racist people I have ever met, have come from what we would call "minorities" and weren`t based in any western europeon country when I met them. This tho would be different for everyone, and just because the most racist people I have met were from said country, doesn`t mean that whole country and EVERY person in it is racist, just means the people I met at that time were.

  37. Depends on your point of view mate, I don`t think he is any worse than most players. Therefore Its not defending Suarez.

I don`t think principles have fallen either, football has always been that way. Best was loved, even though he was a women beater, and a drunk, there is endless names of players form by gone eras who were disrespectful, arrogant and unsportsmanlike but were still loved back then. It is not a new thing, So for me I don`t think principles have fallen at all, just stayed the same. football has never had principles really, other than wanting your team to win. It is a game, not a guide on how to live.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It is not a question of if there is any cheat other than Suarez, or if anybody has ever cheated. Everything is relative. Players, fans and experts used to be much more strict towards diving and unsportsmanlike behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  39. But his reference to Balotelli wasn`t about diving or anything like that? For me the question is exactly "is there any other" I don`t think you can get a change of view, until people stop blaming one or two players for a wide spread problem.

His reference to Balotelli was really about the guys style off the pitch, therefore to suggest its the same as people liking Suarez, seems wrong.

On the one hand your saying, its ok that in the past, people loved Best etc dispite being bad off the pitch, and on the how other saying people who like Balotelli due to his off the pitch stuff have fallen principles.

I also disagree that you have the knowledge of ALL fans to suggest how they were more strict on diving and unsportsmanlike stuff.

The famous hand of god. About as unsporting as you will get, and also from a long time ago, so by your logic, the argie fans were real strict on him, and disapproved of him. I don`t think that was the case. If anything they loved him more, going by the press after.

So I still disagree that principles have fallen so much, and think maybe we just live in a smaller world now, where we get to se other fans views more than ever before, so get both sides of the coin, rather than just our own.

    ReplyDelete
  40. (1) The similarity between the case of Balotelli and the one of Suarez is that in both cases some fans and experts find excuses for their wrong behaviour because they are good players. For this pattern of behaviour it does not matter if it is about antics of the former or cheating of the latter.

    (2) 'Blaming one or two players for a wide spread problem' - who said it is only Suarez to blame? Who said there are no other cheats? Every single cheat and diver is a disgrace to football and sport in general. I'm speaking here about Suarez because I'm a Liverpool fan and this is a website dedicated to Liverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 1: are you then suggesting Best should be in this cat too? If so does this not back up my point, that principles haven`t fallen? Or is Best a exception for some reason I don`t know of?

2: This site from my understanding is about all sorts. By naming one or two players over and over, you are then highlighting and singling them out. Maybe not on purpose, but it is still the same result.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Totally agree with Tommy's commments. Balotelli was, is, and always will be, an arrogant narcissist. A team player he ain't ! Like him or loathe him Luis Suarez gives his all for the team. Just because 'Tommy et al' didn't jump on the PC band wagon and openly condemn Luis Tommy  is now being branded a hypocrite. Just so that I don't get branded with the same tar-brush I now go on record that as a W.A.S.P., I give my unequivocal to Luis Saurez as a Liverpool player and would prefer him any day of the week to the newly departed Mario Balotelli

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Zan_aka_Zanatos:disqus

    (1) Of course cheating by Best or Maradona goes into the same category. Regarding principles, I already said everything was relative - it is not about if cheating happened before. Of course it did happen. Thing is that it did not happen on such massive scale, and what is even more worrying (and the main thing I mean when saying principles have fallen) is that fans who used to publicly support honest sportsmanship and denounce cheating (in this instance, Liverpool fans before the signing of Suarez) are now trying to invent excuses for his diving just because he is a Liverpool player and a good striker.(2) Well if you don't agree that this website is dedicated to things regarding LFC, I can't see the point of our argument on this point.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It`s a LFC website, but I`ve seen Jamie post about all sorts of football topics, not just LFC.

I just think your reading to much into this whole Inventing excuses thing mate, I hardly ever see anyone stick up for this diving. Most posts seem to say they think its wrong. That don`t mean they have to hate everything about him though, and to be frank, he hardly ever dives anymore anyway. So I cant see how people are trying to make up excuses for his diving??? If the idea is we must hate all footballers who cheat, then I might as well stop following football, as from the top of my head I actually can`t think of one, who hasn`t cheated at some point, be that as shirt pull, and dive, not owned up to a hand ball etc.

End of the day, people like winning. Did you ever hear of Man Utd fans, or Fergie moaning when Ronaldo dived almost every game, nope, because at the end of the day, it won them games. That might be wrong, but that is life.

I would love it if, no players cheated, but it is just a game, I watch for fun at the end of it all. I would love it even more if no one cheated in the working world to get ahead, as then I would be making even more cash. Unless answers are provided for ways to stop cheating (by F.A), it will go on, if we like it or not, why? cause that`s just how life works.

If anyone really hates it that much, I wonder why they use there free time to watch it, as every game has loads of it going on.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You clearly need to read over the comments on this (and even more so on other) website about Suarez's diving - they are FULL of excuses made up for his disgusting anti-sportsmanlike behaviour. One of their excuses is exactly what you meant in that "that's life" phrase. And it is no justification for cheating not to be criticized. Wars are also life, does that mean it is an excuse for them?

    ReplyDelete
  46. I disagree with a lot of these ex LFC footballers. For starters Ballotelli's goals last season helped city win the league & the fa cup the season before. Top penalty taker, the most composed I've seen in a while. His performance in the Euros especially against the Germans was top class, better than ALL the English strikers. Also please look at some clips when played for Inter, absolutely amazing skills, pace & power. For me the real issue is that he failed to settle in England, he was never happy. Mixed that in with a lack of maturity which is clear to see & it helps explain things! Why these ex LFC players see the need to give there 2 pennies worth is a mystery since they have no affiliation with city or Ballotelli. Personally, I'd have Balloteli over Andy Carol, a) for his goal to games ratio. b) He maintained a better sell on value. Cannot see any one paying more than 10 mill for Carroll.

  47. I think many would counter with the fact that Luis Suarez going down a bit easily doesn't warrant comparison to war.

It is this kind of hyperbole that undermines the vast majority of the anti-Suarez debate.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm glad Balotelli has left England, for his own good. It isn't healthy for a young man to absorb the hypocritical opprobrium of an entire nation of self-righteous cunts.

Mario may well continue to be immature in Milan, but the public reaction to what was at most a bit of unprofessionalism, with a side of eccentricity, was shameful.

Even today there are headlines like 'Mario lets rip on all things English' because he said he didn't like English weather, food or the way we drive. No-one likes English food other than the English and no-one like English weather including the English.

I would however hazard to guess Mario's camouflaged Bentley doesn't simplify the issue of driving.

  49. If we agree that cheating, lying, crimes and war are all [wrong], it does not seem to me there can be no comparison.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Of course you would put your team first - just like me and Bluemoon put ours first. But there is no getting away from the fact that Liverpool face years in the doldrums unless they show more ambition. Rogers is a big gamble for a club the size of Liverpool. It should not surprise anyone if Suarez joins City in the summer despite what he is saying now.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes you are completly wrong. I'm old enough to have watched Liverpool in the old second division. History is to be respected but has absolutely no bearing on the future, as you are finding out. As for investment by  'sugar daddies' you should remember Liverpool and that lot in Stretford have spent much more than City over the last 10 years. And as for rose tinted glasses - well you need to look in the mirror.

    ReplyDelete
  52. cheating/gaining advantage, however you want to address it, is not my favourite part of football. like it or not, it has always happened, will always happen. you must still put football into perspective, it is only a game. it delights, frustrates and angers in equal measure. i was at heysel and hillsborough, so i think getting too involved in a row about something which is in effect very trivial and in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter, is a bit silly. there are more important things in life to get irate about.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I already responded to the "it has always happened" part, so will not refer to it again. And being an honest person with right principles and right state of mind is not really "trivial" IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Diving is wrong and Suarez deserves criticism when he does it, but comparing his falling over to the widespread killing and inhumanity inherent in war isn't a fair equation. It isn't even close.

If you want to decide that all things are wrong are suddenly comparable, should we apply that in the legal system? Murder is different from public urination just as diving is different from war.

    ReplyDelete
  55. its not just the club i'd put first over city , its our supporters our ground , the kop , you say , 'they show more ambition', shame city lack this in the champions league , i cant seeing city winning the CL in years , you'll have to show much much more ambition (money) in your case , to be serious contenders just like chelsea did , city will always be the littler club in manchester , our ambition is working progress , next season Anfield has the work starting on it soon to be 62,000 seater , and we'll fill it every game , you can have suarez if the moneys right , suarez aint the be all and end all of lfc , IF the arab wants him , to be part of his toy , he'll have to cough up

    ReplyDelete
  56. My thats "life" comment and the bit about it being a game, were tio highlight, the fact Suarez diving is just that, a thing which I would prefer he didn`t do, but I aint going to lose sleep over it, as it aint a War, and comparing the two, seem massively off the mark.

A footballer diving in a game, is in way anything like people dieing and being killed. Nor should they ever be compared.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @VermHat:disqus I never compared diving to killing. I said both were wrong, which invalidated the logic of saying "diving has always happened so let's just ignore it".

    ReplyDelete
  58. Sorry mate, but compared to people being killed, a player diving in football is trivial, no matter which way you look at it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. @Zan_aka_Zanatos:disqus See above comment. It is not me, it is only you comparing the two, which then enables you to say diving is trivial. I stand for the attitude which gives you enough principle to hold both killing and diving as wrong actions which need to be criticized and highlighted. No compromise for that.

  61. ok, we may have spent a lot in 10 years, but i would say that has been earned money (possibly minus the h&g couple of years). winning competitions prior to that. your lot? f*ck all, then bingo! here you are boys, on a plate for nothing. i know whose success i would respect first, every time. that also includes ( pass the sick bag again), the bigger and better lot from your neck of the woods. you and chelsea are the same. your fans and chelsea's will happily spout 'we did this and we did that'. lovely for you. as my moniker suggests, i am not a fan of your better half, but i will have far more respect for any success they have built for, over the years. i never used to mind your lot, but this pathetic superiority complex that your fans seem to have developed, is quite laughable. that is one reason i can never respect man city/chelsea success. it's a false prophet (or profit, seeing as money is now god at your place).

  65. Doesn't anyone here remember that Suarez was banned for 8 games for biting an opponents ear during a match and had just finished serving his ban when he showed up at Liverpool !!!

  66. Because you had years of success it has given Liverpool the money to spend via unfair TV money distribution thus being able to compete for the better players and at the same time,  keeping out every other team not in the original 'Sky 4'. Since the wealth came in to Chelsea and latterly City the cozy cartel has been broken. And the rest don't like it. There is nothing wrong for a club to be debt free and if someone wants to spend his money on his football club then he should be allowed to do so. So your lot have had their day and it will be a very long time before they have another.

  67. i believe you also referred to 'war'!? or were my glasses to steamed up with laughter? what f*cking part of 'IT'S ONLY A GAME OF FOOTBALL' do you not understand.???????????? let me make it a bit more simplified for you.......FOOTBALL= GAME........the result of a GAME or how it is acheived....DOES NOT F*CKING MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT ISN'T IMPORTANT. and you say you are a liverpool fan????? then you should realise i am right and you should learn some history. then, you may stop talking bo*locks about a subject, that should be forgotten about when the final whistle goes.

  70. As an LFc fan I don't really care about Ballotelli, how ever to completely assassinate him and his character is unfair. Yes he has had some issues, but this the guy who gave 2 grand to a homeless guy, took a kid who was bunking school back to school to talk to his teachers. He also refused to talk to the Sun reporters at his press conference in Milan because of Hillsborough. He is young, he ishuman, he is flawed, he isn't the prick that people make out.

  71.  don't be so cocksure that you will be that successful. you were given the league last year, but how are your 'best players' doing? 10 pts behind now. europe? embarrassing. your 'best players', maybe, are not the top quality you think they are. i don't rate your manager too highly either. so i hope he does stay.

  72. I have to admit balotelli was my fav player outside of liverpool..his character will missed in the epl...

  73. fair enough mate, I think the convo has got slightly lost along the line, and do understand you don`t think diving is more important than what happened at Heysel etc, and that the War comment was just used to show a point, rather than you comparing the two.

I do agree honesty is a great thing to have, and I respect your view, but for me, while i dislike cheating in football, I also dislike many other things in football. Some things will improve, some wont, in an ideal world no one would cheat I guess, but as we don``t live in a ideal world, and cheating does exist, all we can hope for is that the F.A step in to change it, otherwise as much as we may dislike it, it will carry on, just like it has for the last 100 years, into the next 100 years.

In terms of judging the players, I still think, while it is not a nice thing to do, I ain`t going to judge them too much, as there are far worse crimes in this life than that.

  74. I said diving is Trivial, as the gentleman above said compared to heysel and hillsbourough diving is trivial, and you replied with, it`s not trivial. But as his quote about it being trivial was in a direct reference to real tragedies, and his use of the word trivial was in a direct comparison, it seemed out of line to suggest it wasn`t, as you were indirectly saying it was on a level with life losing tragedies. Maybe you didn`t read his post right, and so replied without actually meaning to mean what you wrote.

  75. Yes, which is why I posted earlier, that Suarez is a model pro off the pitch, but not so on it, which is nothing like Balotelli who is a nightmare off it, and fine on it. They are chalk and cheese.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jaime, why do you compare the two (Suarez and Balo), we have never heard of brawls and scuffles with Suarez involved. Suarez is 100% committed to his club whether that was Ajax or Liverpool. The argument Tommy Smith seems to be making is that Balo would have messed with the locker room  dynamics, same thing can not be said of Suarez. Plus as far as Suarez bashing there are enough people doing it. As for Balo, he is still young , which is not an excuse for his behavior, just pointing out he has time on his side for now.

  77. As soon as as the sheikh has finished playing with his toy which is Man City you will quickly go back to the championship where you belong.
Liverpool are big and do not need a sugar daddy so enjoy it while u can.

  78. you're going on about liverpool success of yesterday again neil , but if a liverpool supporter mentions it then you use it against him/her,  it seems that now you won a title you're world famous , i cant see yous doing anything this season ,well maybe get into CL , but you're lightweight in europe, so cant see city having a impact in that league , cant see you winning EPL this season , already 10points behind united, everybody in uk understands city are trying hard to grow a backbone based on being champions till may, you know next season you may not be any further ahead than liverpool ,

  79. i cant believe this if suarez did half the this off the pitch balotelli did he would be doing time in prison! no comparison and if suarez was really a racist he wouldnt be kissing and hugging raheem sterling after he scores a goal! its funny you dont ever talk about all the good things suarez does jamie looks like hes gona be sticking around for a long long long time so if you dont have anything nice to say about him dont say anything!

  80. Good to hear you also have negative attitude to cheating. I totally understand it might never go away from football, but neither should its criticism. Besides, I think technologies like live video replay and regulations like retrospective penalties might minimize cheating.

  81. Frankly, Balotelli is not a fantastic player. So, there is no comparison with players like Suarez, Messi or Gerrard. Balotelli is one of the most over hyped player around. He does not work for his team like Sergio Aguero or Teves does and he is not a game changer. His ability on the field looks ordinary.

  82. from what its saying most of the city first team are being unload neil, start tevez, dzeko, nasri, lescott,, and 5more,much unrest but its been this way from last season , wouldnt you agree they're only there for the big money offers from the arab , i cant see city doing anything for a few years now , im glad our club are building a solid foundation on shanks principals , and we will , i see us being serious contesters in 2years , not for one season, i must add , 62/5,000 seater ANFIELD aswell , neil imagine 60,000 lfc supporters in that ground and filled eveytime we play there , best supporters in ELP most vocal too , my pal's from wythenshaw cheetham hill chorlton salford always say Anfield is a special place to go to , where about are you from neil
