'There's been talks' - BR on Coutinho deal, Coates transfer & Doni controversy...

Ahead of this Thursday's transfer deadline, Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has provided a new status report on the club's current transfer activity.

Reports over the last few days suggest that Liverpool have agreed a deal with Inter Milan for the purchase of Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho, but when asked about this in his press conference today, Rodgers said:

"There's nothing to report. No one has been signed yet, and when we do sign someone I'll let you know.

"There's been talks between the two clubs [Liverpool and Inter] but that's about it".

Rodgers reiterated once again that the club doesn't 'quite have the depth yet', and insisted that he wants to 'develop the group over the coming windows'. However, he didn't seem too confident about bringing anyone else in during this window, and after confirming once again that there is 'nothing to report' on the potential Thomas Ince transfer, he noted:

"We'll see what we can do by Thursday. The reality is it's going to take a few windows to get the squad competitive. If we can add another player then great, if not, then we'll wait till the summer"

Sebastian Coates' future seems to be up in the air at the moment, and after his dire performance against Oldham yesterday, an Anfield exit seems even more likely. Coates admitted earlier in the week that he wants to play regularly, and Rodgers hinted that a loan deal could be on the cards:

"We haven't had any approaches from any club. He'as a player that needs games, and needs to go and play, but I need to protect the club as well in relation to the size of the group. It might be the best thing for Seba to go on loan, but it might not be the best thing for the club".

Last week, absent goalkeeper Doni claimed that there is 'an issue' between him and the club, and promised 'When the matter is sorted, I will talk about it'. When asked about this 'issue', Rodgers rejected suggestions that Doni is 'done' at Anfield, adding:

"I've got nothing to say on Doni. It was a situation that happened before I arrived at the club, and it's dragged onthrough. It's a personal matter, which has meant he hasn't been able to play, but he's still signed, and the club will decide when he can come back, and we'll take it from there"

  1. For "Coutinho" substitute "Dempsey" and then the word "fiasco" springs readily to mind. Stand by for the excuses....

  2. Sad about Doni and really shocked that Coutinho has Not yet signed, and  rightly said about Sebastian that he needs games.

  3. so what rodgers his saying is give me a couple of years of this crap ,go now please enough is enough your killing the club

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think attitudes like yours are doing the club more harm than Rodgers is. The reality is we're not the same club we used to be and we've already sacked 3 managers in the last few years, sacking another ain't gonna solve the problem.

  5. Oh Jason Carr, Bang another drum please!  You're getting boring!  As for Coutinho, the club have said that they will only announce a signing when they have signed.  He is reportedly in Liverpool for a medical this week and when he has signed the club will announce it.  They are trying to get away from responding to every bit of speculation.  As for another couple of transfer windows - great, it means we're trying to bring in the type of players we want for the type of fees we're willing to pay and we're prepared to take our time.  The squad depth is not there yet and it will take time.  Of course, if you've got 1/2 a billion to invest, then go ahead and speed it up....

  6. Give me a few more windows to make us competetive?? Ffs brendan, is that the best weve got to look forward to, have you noticed how expectations keep getting lowered all the time? soon he,ll be talking about consolodating in the top ten then it will be staying in the prem, lol

    ReplyDelete
  7. How does "it's going to take a few windows to get the squad competitive" go along statements like "the way we played was fantastic" after matches?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm guessing that if a fee has been agreed for Coutinho then the delay is in getting the work permit. It was always going to be a lengthy process and obviously no one at the club is going to announce things prematurely.

As for the state of the club ... we're 7 points out of fourth place, there is no crisis. If we finish the season the way we did last year then there will be a problem, but let's check back in with our league form over the next few weeks, I see no reason to think we're not getting better.

  9. and even if we sign coutinho ,it just someone else to wet nurse f"ck sake stirling will be the senior pro if fsg have there way

    ReplyDelete
  10. Omg, if FSG or BR isn't trying to sign new players I hope they don't sell the old ones. It would be a step backward and I pray that our youngster can really step up and the current player are in form till the season is over.

  11. Nearly evey major news site has said there is few agreed with Inter. Next step is personal terms and medical. Obviously these may not be agreed so will wait and see.....the Ince deal seems to be further away as they can't agree a fee. I expect Coutinho to sign, even the Inter president said he should....

  12. Why are you sad about Doni? What miracles has he performed?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Funny, three weeks ago no one mentioned Coutinho and now we can't live without him.

    ReplyDelete
  14. He did come out with this the other day, in relation whether 4th place was up for grabs for us:

"So is third, so is second and maybe even first. I said to the players this morning that everyone talks about fourth place but what about third? We are 11 points off second so, if we can get some consistency, keep our mentality and our focus then it is not fourth place we want to aim for."Make of that what you will.

    ReplyDelete
  15. sorry m8 its supporters like you with your defeatist attitude that as put the club were it is today willing to settle for second best, well iam sorry but thats not good enough for me

    ReplyDelete
  16. so what keep this imo clown ,and just get worse, how fsg can justify sacking kenny but give this man more than till the end of the season is beyond me

    ReplyDelete
  17. Killing the club? In what way? Please provide specific examples.

Spurs got dumped out of the FA Cup too. Is AVB killing them? Arsenal are only three points ahead of us in the league - is Wenger 'killing' them?!This is Rodgers' first season, and overall, he's doing a creditable job. We're only 7 points off 4th place, and there's still 40+ points to play. A few things to consider:* With 15 games to go, LFC is only 18 points (or six wins) away from beating last season's PL points total. Six wins out of 15? Definitely achievable.* Over the last 10 league games, the club has averaged 2.25 points per game. If that average is maintained for the final 15 league games, the club will end the season on 68 points.* over the last 10 years, the average points total achieved by the team that finished 4th is 67.5, and 8 of the last 10 teams to finish 4th have achieved a points total ranging between 60 and 69 points.Killing the club? Total nonsense. LFC are right on track in the league this season.

  18. He,d have made a great salesman for kirkby hoovers, thats what i make of it, lol

    ReplyDelete
  19. So what would you do? Who would you like to see in charge that could turn things around? Who should we sign knowing that we cannot sign every big name on the planet?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Scoobsie - By all means questions JC's views, put please refrain from belittlement (i.e. 'You're getting boring') - That is totally irrelevant. Please attack the argument, not the person.

    ReplyDelete
  21. the club has been killed a long time ago, man up and admit it we are no longer elite with respect to squad strength and depth, I'm happy to give him a few years

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was against the sacking of Kenny, but it's happened so we have to move on. I think the problem with kenny was his handling of the media that cost him his job. In this day and age it's very important. The club desperately need some stability and if we change manager again, imo we lose Suarez, Reina possibly Agger and Gerrard is well into the end of his career. So what manager will want the job and what players will want to play for us?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jason - Please do not personally insult Rodgers.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I agree with all of the above, but to play devil's advocate, would you want rodgers out if we didn't win more than 6 games and ended up on the same amount of points as last season or do you think he'd deserve one more season after that?

    ReplyDelete
  25. nevermind Coutinho we need a left back. Robinson was shocking on Sunday and although he is young he was outplayed by Div 2 players. maybe that's his level. If we only have a little money do we really need a lightwight, tricky, midfield/winger with pace. surely Sterling and Suso fill these spaces. Rogers goes on about not relying on kids and being too dependent on Suarez and Gerrard and then blows £9m on an unproven lightweight Brazilian winger. I like Rogers and i like FSG but as per usual Liverpool are just a laughing stock when it comes to the transfer market.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jaime...where do you thinks coutinho gonna play...and what the formation that will use when coutinho arrive

    ReplyDelete
  27. If we don't win more than 6 league games for the rest of the season then that would be there is a serious problem at the club.

Rodgers should only stay if there is demonstrable progress in the league, and that means:

    * Improving on last season's points total
    * Improving overall points-per-game
    * Putting in a good fight for the CL places (as opposed to staying where we are now in the league and not getting close)

I won't call for his head though, and I won't mind if he gets another season. Unlike Dalglish/Hodgson, Rodgers has a plan, and he's trying to implement it, and if given the time, I'm confident it will bear fruit.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Benitez would take the job in a heartbeat, not that i'm advocating a step backwards but he has got an eye for a player and would love to see him under owners that backed his judgement on players..... not saying he was perfect but he did have a good strike rate with players brought in...imo

    ReplyDelete
  29. what do people make of the fee for Coutinho, some papers saying 8.5mil, others going up to 11mil. For me I`m thinking 8.5mil if prob right as that seems to be coming from the more creditable papers, and the headline hitting rags seem to be going for either 11mil or saying it in euros so it looks even higher.

On a side note, yests game was tough, and I don`t think having Coutinho would have made any difference, the game highlighted one big weakness we have, which is we lack strength. Granted in a lot of games in the prem, a nice flowing football style works, but there are still some games even in the prem which are real hard, aggressive type games, of which we have lost or drawn them all I think. We need that bit of steal too which can be used for them types of games. Even if it is just a new DM. We are getting a pretty skillful front line, but again all very lightweight, as much as I dislike Rooney, at least he gives power, same for BA and Drogba was the same etc.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think he'll play wide, probably from the left. I imagine the formation will be something like this:

    ----------------------- Lucas

    -------------- Gerrard ---- Henderson

    -------- Suarez -------------------- Coutinho

    ---------------------- Sturridge

The front three will probably alternate positions.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Agree re the strength point, which makes it all the more mystifying why LFC haven't gone for Sissoko, M'Vila or Diame. Still, a few days left, so maybe that might change.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yea that's fair, but i'm just really sick of the team being rebuilt. I'd like to see the same manager for a few years at least. I believe Br is still learning and will make mistakes as he goes but hopefully he will learn from them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I loved Rafa, and felt he fitted us well to, I love his style, the way he felt like a fan like us, and how he stuck up for the club no matter what. I also loved the amazing football nights that still live in my memory that he gave us, but I don`t want him back. I think he had his time, did very well but towards the end just lost his way a little, and I don`t think he has ever really looked the same since.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have to agree, with the fact he has spent a lot of money so far, and in my books that should mean we are more competitive than we are right now. I know players cost more these days, for anyone over 10mil should still be pretty good. So far, and this of course could change as the season goes on, the only signing who looks good is Sturridge to me. That`s 12mil out of around 45mil spent that so far is working ok. No manager will get all transfers right, even the best don`t, but I think he does need to improve on the players he gets in. Our first team isn`t good enough right now, and any signing we make needs to be of the best we can get type. I don`t want players who are just average signed for a lot for a lot of money, as I don`t see how that improves us that much. I would rather have less signings, but of higher standards. I think in this case less can be more.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have a feeling we wont go for them. Which I think is a real shame, and missing a trick. Looking at the squad we have, right now I would say that is the biggest area that needs sorting. With the style we play, I think it is even more important, and I think it would make a massive difference not only to the amount of goals we let in, but also in helping the attack, and the ball will be coming back up to them more. I would be happy with anyone of them you listed above right now over Coutinho or Ince (both I would like, but I don``t feel are as needed).

    ReplyDelete
  36. if it wasn't dramatical it wouldn't be Liverpool. Who needs to watch soaps on t.v when you can watch Liverpool try to sign any top class player. It is always a saga full of incredible highs and lows. It was easier for United to sign Robin Van Persie than it's been for us to sign Countinho. Reports claim that he has indeed been signed while others claim that he has almost been signed. Don't really like what Rodgers and the media are doing to the fans. They are the one who suffer most.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have got to disagree with your bullets.
The club have signed and progressed young talents, and have implemented a completely new style of play.

Rodgers is counting on his young talents to develop quickly. If that would not happen, it might even take another full season before we can see our team polished enough to challenge for a top 4 spot.

Hopefully they will. I feel like in terms of ability, Shelvey, Suso, Sterling, Wisdom, Hendo, Robinson and Allen might become a very strong spine if they realise their potential.
I'm not going to discuss Yesil, Ngoo, Coady and others that have yet to be in the mix for a spot in the team yet.

We do need a dynamo in the middle of the park to replace Stevie, but we have to realize that it will be extremely difficult to find anyone that can fill in his shoes.

For me this season is not a season of judgement. Next season you can start pulling out your knives.

By the way, the big difference between KD and BR, is that KD announced his goal as a top 4 finish.

In terms of spending I'm not sure they were too far off each other.

BR sold Maxi, Kuyt, Cole, Adam, Aquilani, and got Assaidi, Sturridge, Borini, Allen and Yesil in.
    Spent - around 40m, recieved - around 25m.

KD bought Downing, Adam, Enrique, Coates, Bellamy, and sold Kochensky, Insua, Jovanovic, Ayala, El zhar, Poulsen, Ngog, Meireles, and notable Tom Ince.
    Spent - around 40m, recieved - around 25m.

I'm not judging KD's Suarez and Carrol's signing as they were balanced with Torres's departure, and to be honest, were forced on the club.

    Food for thought.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Shelvey for me is'nt good enough, suso too light weight, allen steady but doesnt know his own role nevermind the one in our team, sterling for me is overated, i like wisdom he will become a great player and henderson for me has the best attitude of them all, robinson is'nt good enough.... the players for me with the right mental attributes are morgan and coady but those 2 maybe lacking the instant flair which the others may have so might take rodgers longer to see their potential, yesil seems to be a grafter/fighter aswell also mclaughlin for me at right back is another to keep an eye on..... i would personally rather see all those players go on loan for at least a season to a team like wigan in the prem or a good footballing championship side.... learn their trade with others and come back ready for the step up

    ReplyDelete
  39. diame at 3.5m is a steal really at that price and potentially could get a similar fee back in a few years if sold on, so would be a very small gamble and give us a bit of steal

    ReplyDelete
  40. where would you put downing as ever since he's been told he can go, he's started taking players on and looked like he could actually do a job

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well said, sturridge apart ( & its early days with him) the rest of BR,s signings have hardly been bargain basement yet have done very little to justify his judgement in them, for example i,d swap kuyt for borini any day of the week

    ReplyDelete
  42. fine move on but why rodgers he did not have the experience for a job this big,and re kennys handling of the media i would rather have kenny infront of the media than rodgers with his gushing praise, and when he dose critisise try to blame the young lads and not his £39 million men,and imo if we keep rodgers we will lose suarez and the other few top players we have got because i dont think they will give him another season, and come on were lfc if the owners backed the manager these not many more prestiege jobs in world football, hence thats why imo we got rodgers other managers new they would not get the backing

    ReplyDelete
  43. as i have just said he should have learn,t somewere else

    ReplyDelete
  44. Rodgers is not a man  i would like to play poker with because he doesn't seem to give anything away. He couldn't be more depressing in his news conferences. It is always doom and gloom with him. Liverpool fans who are hoping to hear some good news from the managers news about our transfer target are usually disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  45. so what if we finish 1 place higher in the league,(because 4th your having alaugh by sunday imo that will be done and dusted,)i would rather finish one place lower and have two cup finals, and money has nothing to do with it hes got the same squad as last season and spent nearly 50 million and were no further, also i know you don,t agree with this one but if suarez had ,had is ban at the beggining of this season we would be a lot worse of than we are now, also he comes out with some complete bull then dose the complete opposite egs, saying downing can leave then pickin him every game same with coates moaning aboutsize of squad then making it smaller, and moaning about lack of experience then trying to sign players who are just starting there carears ,we have not beaten any of the top sides infact anyone above us in the league,he dose not learn from his mistakes re mansfield, and oldham finished the job off, whens enough enouth,if we finish 7th this season, some people will still want him and there welcome to him i,am now 1000%behind showing rodgers the door

    ReplyDelete
  46. That "eye for a player" has brought us Alonso and Torres, but I'll never forget Degen, Dossena or Voronin either.
Rafa has "an eye" for boardroom unrest, too, just ask the folks at Valencia or Inter.

    ReplyDelete
  47. i do except that but imo hes killing us off quicker than the rest of the managers put together

    ReplyDelete
  48. I've watched one of his press-conferences for Chelsea the other day and wanted to smash my monitor. Some people blame Rodgers for being in love with himself, well, they surely have forgotten how much love Rafa has for himself.

    ReplyDelete
  49. there i say moyles would be a decent shout, and i know we cannot sign every big name on the planet just 1 that we have all heard of would do

    ReplyDelete
  50. I've been waiting for a comment like this from you for quite a while now. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  51. At the same time we should have a look at how that "demonstrable progress", or lack thereof, is achieved, probably by having a look at the wages bill.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have to say that Rodgers isn't the man for this club. The club is too big for him. This is LFC we're talking about. One of the biggest clubs in Europe. We need a big time manager here who can attract big time names. Rodgers simply doesn't cut it compared to Mourinho, Guardiola, Hiddink or Benitez. It's time our American owners understood what they're taking on with this club and what we the fans expect. I along with many others don't accept mediocrity. Mid-Table isn't where this club belongs. I hate to say it but this has to end. It's time to wise up and get a top manager in. No more crap players & manager.

    ReplyDelete
  53. voronin signed for free sold for proffit degen not sure on his details and maybe lost a couple of million on dossena.... doubled his money on torres..... trebled on alonso.... never said he was perfect.... boardroom unrest i think is a little harsh espically considering who we had in charge in his reign with us

    ReplyDelete
  54. Probably because the club doesn't want to be sued for tapping-up players. We were lucky Fulham didn't press ahead their case against us.

    ReplyDelete
  55. so no borini no allen no asaidi apart from sturridge none of his signings interesting he should get all his players on loan at least we could give them all back after less than half a season

    ReplyDelete
  56. Our players didn't pick up any injuries. There is your one positive from yesterday's game.

    ReplyDelete
  57. agree m8 to depressed to think straight

    ReplyDelete
  58. Maybe we should remember that Henderson and Downing needed one and a half seasons with us to perform at an acceptable level, and each of them has cost more than any of Rodgers signings.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Why would we put a central attacking midfielder on the wing? I think, and would take a few years to prove whether or not I am right, that Coutinho would replace Gerrard on the long run.

    Therefore:

    Back four

    ------Lucas----Allen/Henderson

    -----------Gerrard/Coutinho

    Front-three

There would be interchanging between the midfield positions further down and further up the pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  60. thats not a positive a positive would have been if allen and borini had ,and could not play again this season now that would have been something to be hopeful about

    ReplyDelete
  61. who would you like to see in charge Jason.... i honestly can't think of many genuine candidates apart from a return from benitez.... maybe de boer or klopp although didnt they reject us(could be wrong there) maybe a departing international manger.... but who i don't know.... i hate to say it but the one manager i think has acheived better than most is the man in charge across the road his teams above ours and tony hibbert plays for them.... would you take him?

    ReplyDelete
  62. No transfer fee does not mean that he doesn't get a handsome signing fee and handsome wages. It's quite often that players who don't command a fee ask for higher wages.

Think we paid about 12m for Alonso and didn't sell him for 36m. Trebled? No. We made a loss on Mascherano.

I specifically didn't mention boardroom unrest at Liverpool, but at Valencia and Inter.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Shocking comment. You always mention how low we have fallen, but in my opinion this comment of yours is pretty low. To come out and say that you hope that some of our players suffer season-ending injuries is, in my opinion, a comment that shouldn't come from a grown-up man.

    ReplyDelete
  64. No top manager like Mourinho would want to join a club that has finished  8th, 6th and 7th in the past three years, as it would be pretty obvious to that manager that the playing personnel at his disposal isn't that great. I don't want us to be mediocre, but I don't think there is a quick fix, unless we find some oil-wells at Melwood.

    ReplyDelete
  65. i,ve already posted that he would be better than rodgers

    ReplyDelete
  66. Behind the front man, that's exactly where I've put him in my proposed line-up.

He's not a winger, so why put him there.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jason, as I illustrated above, that is just categorically untrue. Do you have any facts to back up the view that Rodgers is 'killing us off quicker than the rest'?

    I'm waiting...

    ReplyDelete
  68. Downing is expendable. Sell ASAP. He's not the long-term solution. He only started playing well once Rodgers threatened to dump him; what kind of mentality is that? Additionally, although he's playing better, his end product in terms of goals/assists still isn't good enough.

    ReplyDelete
  69. shocking but true whats wrong with it ,jaimie often comes on saying he wants suarez out am just saying i want these two out, whats shocking is that i,ve even replyed to you now thats shocking

    ReplyDelete
  70. As I said, "of course could change this season" thus you are just re-stating what I actually wrote Anteater

    ReplyDelete
  71. if your bringing wages etc into it then no one in football would have been sold for profit.... alonso came in for 10.5 didnt he and went for nearer 30 so not far off... mascherano was signed for 18.6m on a 4 year deal which ive read somewhere included his wages for the 4 years....then sold for 24 million euros not sure what that is in pounds but we certainly made a profit, anyway with regards to boardroom unrest i dont know the ins and outs but i only imagine him getting unsettled if promises were made then never fulfilled to me he should never have taken the inter job it wasnt right for him

    ReplyDelete
  72. Some would, Van Gaal openly said he wanted too. That right there is about as top as you get. Granted he is on the older side of things, but experience is never a bad thing.

    ReplyDelete
  73. fuckin hell the liverpool cathedral took 110 years to be built ,i think we will surpass that in our rebuilding job. we were nearly there last season under kenny . we havn,t even done the footins yet with rodgers in charge.bring back the king!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. He's plays wide for Inter Milan plenty of times. Also, in your formation, that's not behind the frontman, unless Rodgers plays 424, which won't happen very often.

Gerrard plays as part of a midfield three but he doesn't play behind the front man. He plays in midfield.

    ReplyDelete
  75. We came to know about pepe reina's importance for liverpool in the coming premier league matches and we know that we need to get ashley williams instead of coates in the coming transfer which would be positive for liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  76. yes sorry lad read it further down after i hit sent

    ReplyDelete
  77. jaimie i may not have the facts i can only say what i see, wba, swansea, macclesfield the list is endless, after the same number of games as hodgeson he had at best the same record if not worse,we have been dumped out of both cup competitions by teams we should beat hes got rid of signing after less than half a season something i,am sure you critised rafa for ,but its rodgers so we just pretend everthing is all right because you say so,and your 100%behind him well i,am not thats just my opinion ,if he got champions league this year i will gladly eat humble pie but as i have said come sunday all hope of that could be over ,lfcs season over in the 1st week of feb not in my lifetime

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yes, I agree. We were nearly there under Dalglish last season...in some twisted alternate reality!

How were we 'nearly there' under Dalglish? The club finished 8th in the league.

    ReplyDelete
  79. your right m8 get ready for the onslaught

    ReplyDelete
  80. Didn`t he mostly play central for Milan, and didn`t do that well, but when he moved to Spain they moved him out wide more and he started scoring? Or that`s what I understood. Tbh I`m not over confident on this player, I will as always support him, and hope he does well, but something just don`t feel right for me.

    ReplyDelete
  81. i agree he should have been doing this when we signed him, but he's doing it now would you not use him this season then to build his value up before getting rid.... i mean were buying coutinho and potentially ince when he can do the job with the right motivation.... when we have other areas where we could spend the money.... like a solid dm or a good fullback or centreback for me this is where we need to strengthen or even a back up goalie more than a winger/2 wingers.... i mean that bouzanis looked more assured than jones and he used to be on our books, we have made more transfer blunders than most it seems in recent years

    ReplyDelete
  82. would you i don,t think it would go down to well, but if he brung success it would soon be forgotten

    ReplyDelete
  83. You're entitled to your opinion, but using 'I say what I see' as a reason for claiming that Rodgers is 'killing the club' just doesn't cut it.

After the same number of league games, Rodgers had more points and a higher PPG average than Hodgson.

I criticise Rodgers as much as anyone, you know that, but he's definitely not killing the club (!)

And who says anything about pretending everything is alright? As I said, you can have whatever view you like, but you have to be prepared for people challenging it, like I have.

Everything is not okay at LFC, but equally, everything is not going down the pan either.

  85. i disagree lad second half of the season under kenny was dreadful we were bottom 3 in that period

    ReplyDelete
  86. im sure roy and kenny had a plan they just didnt bang on about it.......anybody can write a load of bol**KS JAIMIE AND CALL IT A PLAN

  87. Wanting a player to be sold is very different from wanting players to get injured. I guess I don't have to explain the difference to you.

    ReplyDelete
  88. That's why I classed their performances as acceptable, not great, or even good.

    ReplyDelete
  89. i'd take moyes yes but if it started badly then maybe he'd get hung out to dry but you can't fault his record for everton and even at preston before that he seems to have the right mixture of respect from the footballing world and has again not done too bad with regards to transfers....they seem to get business done right and fairly cheap what he would do at a bigger club.... i think he'll get that chance at utd when fergie goes but we could probably get him now if we wanted him

    ReplyDelete
  90. its true anteater sometimes misfortune favours the manager ( stops him making the tuff desisions he cant make ) i rember robson and wilkins getting replaced by reid and hoddle ...Allen is garbage as is borini if allen was injured i dare say we would have signed a midfield enorcer which we badly lack...

    ReplyDelete
  91. I wasn't on about selling for a profit, my point was that, albeit no transfer fee was paid, the signings of Degen and Voronin (amongst others) were very costly.

You are right about Alonso. Sorry, I had thought we sold him for 20 something million.

Mascherano was bought for 18.6m (including a half-season loan fee) and sold for 17.3m. If the transfer fee we've paid included his wages, he would have been a free transfer, and I don't believe that.

Promisses made or always asking for more, even though the club can't afford it.   I'm not talking about H&G here, but about what I think he brings to a club (amongst quite a few positive things, too, to be honest). I don't want to see Liverpool saddled with debt in order to buy Rafa his fantasy league team. He has that at Chelsea and he can stay there. They have all the money he requires.dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

    ReplyDelete
  92.  coutinho in midfield against some of the giants in the prem would get swamped

    ReplyDelete
  93.  my thoughts exactly ....he cant go for these as it more or less means he got the signing of allen wrong...whats hilarious is he could nearly buy all 3 of these players for the cost of allen....you couldnt make it up

    ReplyDelete
  94. Van Gaal is experienced, no doubt about that, but hiring a sixty-year old is hardly building for the future. He is also one who can cause quite some trouble at a club. Add to this the following statement about him: As a coach he is known as a slow starter who frequently finds his
players needing ample time to grasp his tactics and intent of play.
Generally his teams gather results in the second or third season under
his coaching, an exception being the 2009–10 season when he grasped the
German Bundesliga title and lost the UEFA Champions League final with FC
    Bayern Munich.

Given that some of our fans don't want to give time to a young manager, how about not giving it to a sixty-year-old.

Granted, the money we've spent over the past 20 years should have won us at least a few league titles.

    ReplyDelete
  95. perhaps in stead of walking out to youll never walk alone ...we could have ken dodd singing we are the diddy men the diddy men

    ReplyDelete
  96. Some people claim that mostly our alleged 4-3-3 is played like a 4-5-1 with the wide and the central midfielder supporting the attack. Maybe we have different understandings of what "behind the front man" means. Something may be lost in translation.

    ReplyDelete
  97. With "behind the front man" I mean that he is found in zone 14 when we are attacking and have possession in the final third.

    ReplyDelete
  98. interesting i also think there would be to much movement against him from the off

    ReplyDelete
  99. must have been over his last two games because when i checked he had a worse record than hodgeson, and iam better prepared for the challenge than rodgers team was yesterday;-)

    ReplyDelete
  100. even the money we have spent over the last three should have had us at a min of top four.

True Van Gaal might not be deemed to be building for the future, but there is different ways to do that. Lets say Van Gaal came in and got us back in the top four in one or two seasons (which I feel he could have) just that alone puts us in a better place for getting the next manager. I agree he does cause a lot of trouble, but his CV don`t lie, he has won major titles in lots of countries. I personally rate him in the top 5 managers of the last twenty years, if not of all time.

He also has pulling power, which means we might have been able to get better players. I have thought for a while that if your team slumps to become outside the top four, you need one of two things (if you can`t have both). Either crazy money like City did, or a world class manager who players want to play for. As we don`t have the first, the latter would have at least mean`t some players who wouldn`t normally go to a non CL team would have.

So while he might retire in 5 or 10 years time, having those 5 or 10 years out of him would have been well worth while.

I rate him that much, that if I was asked what one manager currently still managing I would like at liverpool, it would be him above all others. Pep is great, Fergie is great but all have just stayed in one country. Mourinho is great too, but always seems to have vast sums of money. Van Gaal can build teams using youth, using very flowing football, and has done so in a number of leagues, not always with big sums of cash.

Not that it matters now, as we don`t have him, we went for someone un-tested. We took that risk, in a way we have gambled the club, as a few more years of not hitting top four, and even the odd world class manager will def not come here.

I hope BR works out, I hope we re-gain our place, but I am still lost as to why they didn`t pick Van Gaal over BR.

I think to much gets put on building for the future, almost like a excuse. How far ahead are we planning for? Surely Van Gaals possible 5/10 years left is enough aint it?

I think people would also give Van Gaal more time, as he has history which shows he can do it. I think the reason BR gets hounded more, is there is nothing at all in his CV to even suggest he could manage a top club.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I realise the financial incentives in finishing 4th or above but i want to see us win silverware, the king got us to two cup finals in his first full season & id sooner trust him to learn from his mistakes than BR, kenny will always have the upmost respect from the players, he,s done it all in the game, if some bloke comes along & starts tellin me how to do my job with a load of paper talk i,d have far more respect for him if he,d actually been a sucess at it himself instead of just being a blagger,i fu**in loved kenny & always will, he,ll still be a legend long after rodgers has had his p45

    ReplyDelete
  102. Given the transfer fees spent in the past five years the league table should read as follows:

    1. Man City
    2. Chelsea
    3. Stoke
    4. Aston Villa
    5. Liverpool
    Bottom of the table: Arsenal

Van Gaal top five manager of all time? Erm, no.

Pulling power, maybe. Champions League qualification is the best pulling power a club can have, and we haven't had it for three years. I am actually not sure whether Van Gaal would have liked to come here. You claim so, but I'm not so sure.

Tottenham for instance built up a team over quite a long period of time. Didn't bring them constant CL qualification, but they didn't have a world-class manager and don't have the financial resources of Man City either.
In the past we didn't sign world-class managers, we've made them.

My best friend is a season ticket holder at Bayern. He didn't have many good things to say about Van Gaal, even though you rate him very highly.

  105. me to m8 we would imo be far better off this season if he was still here,my sons play footbal to quite a high level and if they were ever good enough for lfc and i was not a fan who would i want them to sign for rodgers or a football legendthere would be no contest,if hes not the manager no more i think at least the fans can do is push on with trying to get him knighted sir kenny as a nice ring about it

    ReplyDelete
  106. not shirking as i have told you before and this is just my personal opinion (and i will probably get banned for it) you are the biggest back stabber on here you try and belittle everyone who you think you can get away with it,your comments normally start on about peoples spelling or lack of grammer then you try and make yourself look better there you go i,ve said it see you when my bans over and when it is please leave me alone,i ws going to say more but i do not think it will get past the mods

    ReplyDelete
  107. Spot on kidda, i played at amateur level for a few years & kenny has more pedigree & prestige in his bootlaces than BR, this constant con weve been sold that 4th place is the holy grail gets on my t*ts, as they used to say , 1st is 1st, 2nd is nowhere, give me cups & trips to wembley anytime, even with our league placing last year i,d have more hope of us adding more trophies under the king than BR, i,d love him to prove me wrong but if reading jibbed him why the f**k was he ever seen as good for a giant in the game?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Spot on .... If BR doesnt deliver min 4 points in the next 2 matches ...its the firing line from many supporters im sure .........

    ReplyDelete
  109. It`s not me claiming it, he openly said it in a interview after we gave BR the job. I can find the link if you want. He came out and said he wanted it.

I do rate him highly. He has won league titles in three different countries, totalling 7 league titles. Then there is also the cups etc he has won. For those who like stats, he has one of the highest win% I`ve ever seen, and also helped create many managers younger than him under his watch who have gone on to do well. So not only has he done well as a manager, but also built a group who he helped teach that have done well.

He isn`t everyones cup of tea, due to his no nonsense style, he will literally say what he wants, so I can see why your friend may not have been keen on him.

So yes I do rate him in the top 5 of the last twenty years. Name who has been better? Of course it`s hard to do, but for me winning in different leagues is better than just doing well in one.

CL is the best pulling power, but if you don`t have that, having a top manager is next best thing, that or large sums for wages.

Im shocked by the spending league table, have villa and stoke really spent more than us? We have spent over 150mil, I`m amazed if stoke and villa have too.

    ReplyDelete

and Jose went to CHELSKI went they were nobodys really ...

No Plan B when every1 says we desprately need 1
Dumped out of the league cup ( we won last year )
Dumped out of the FA CUP ...oh he broke another record there as well ...first time since 1959  ....YES 1959 that we lost to a league 1 side

  118. Again very strong claims, Jason. And again I would like to know how come you make such claims against me. Where did I back-stab anyone, where do I belittle anyone?

I've explained to you the other day that me trying to convince you to use a spell-checker wasn't intended to be offensive or any other bad thing. I just tried to be supportive. How come that you see everything I do in a negative way?

Where do I try to make myself look better? Is this just a feeling you have or is there anything you can back this claim up with. I try to evolve as a person and if you could show me where I can improve my behaviour towards others, I will at least think about it.

Honestly, Jason, do you have anything to back all of this up. If so, I'll think about it, promised. Or is this just kind of a "hate-speach".

    ReplyDelete
  119. Is that Chris moyles? If it is in fact David moyes you are referring to then that shows how clueless you are, despite how good a manager he is, because it would clearly never happen. If you're going to demand our manager is sacked and then bring up names like that as replaements you may as well say mourinho or guardiola. Not because they are the same calibre but because they are equally unlikely to happen . Anyone can say sack the manager but if you can't back up your opinion with realistic replacements who can do better then it undermines your point

    ReplyDelete
  120. anteater it's really not tapping-up if said player wanted to leave anyway. Dempsey was tired of life with at Fulham. Brendan Rodgers made a mistake by talking openly about his desire to sign Dempsey. He has now learned from the experience and is saying as little as possible about Coutinho or any other targets. I hate to think that this one will go down to the wire on dead line day. People say he is coming to Anfield today for a medical , while others say he hasn't been signed yet. No one knows what the hell is actually going on at all.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Rodgers has never had a worse record than Hodgson ( though at one point it was equally as bad!). But it is unfair to compare them as Hodgson took over a squad that the majority of players had finished 2nd in the league and was in the champs league for several years before he arrived. Rodgers took over a mid table team (based on the previous 3 seasons).

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yep, have a look for yourself:

  123. We'll never know what would have happened, had we appointed Van Gaal.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Not so sure whether AVB would have come and, well, don't really know whether he is amongst the world-class managers.
Don't get me started on Rafa. I am very glad that we didn't go for him.
The special one isn't seen as that special anymore by quite a few people in Spain. Has he lost something on his way there. Don't the players buy into his way to run things anymore? Would he be content with the limited funds available at our club?

    ReplyDelete
  125. That's the problem though with your posts Jason, you never have any facts to back up your opinion as I have said on a number of occasions and Jaimie comments below. Your entitled to your opinion but for it to have any weight you need to back it up. All you give is baseless assertions (often abusive and always negative) which mean nothing. For me you represent everything wrong with fans now. You say in another post that fans who don't witter on like you are responsible for our current situation as we have 'accepted mediocrity'. No one has asked for this situation (being so far from challenging for the big trophies) and it could be pointed out that we have got rid of 3 managers in quick succession and one set of owners so no one is settling for anything. But equally we have to recognise the realities of where we are right now. Not how we were 20 odd years ago but right NOW. Right now we we don't have the money to compete. Right now we don't have a stadium to compete. Right now we don't have a team to compete. This is not Rodgers making, he wasn't around to get us into this mess. He is tasked with the incredibly difficult job of getting us back to the top with these restrictions and whilst having the level of (unrealistic) expectation that fans like you have that will make things doubly difficult as many top managers have commented (mourinho, fergie, hiddink). What Rodgers has got is a plan, for the first time in years a manager that has a philosophy and style of play to implement. What we need to do now is have patience as changing managers again means more building, more wasted time, more upheaval, more damage to our reputation amongst prospective managers/players. We've always been famed for our stability and loyalty and we need to demonstrate this again. Time will tell for Rodgers and ultimately he will have to answer if things don't go well but he deserves that time as right now he is our manager

    ReplyDelete
  126. theres loads ,i could spend all day finding comments that you belittle people on just the other day you commented on someones postsaying you found it hardto understand ,well i did too but i did not choose to belittle them by making my view public

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anteater doesn't belittle people Jason; you've got the wrong end of the stick.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Think Fulham blamed us for tapping-up Dempsey when some FSG/NESV website published an article stating that he had signed already.

No-one knows. In a way that's good. The best thing would be if no information about the players we are targeting would get to the public before we signed them, but then we probably, too, would complain because of no knowing what's going on. And the media would make up even more transfer rumours.

    ReplyDelete
  132. cn did u even read my facts...

    ReplyDelete
  133. Er I got 3 seasons from rafas last, Hodgson and kenny's half a piece then kenny's full season. That's 1,2,3 to me. And once more Rodgers did not have a worse record! Just because you say he did doesn't make it true! Good god

    ReplyDelete
  134. You are deluded Jason and I find it quite amusing so please continue. What facts don't add up exactly? And by trying to spin the criticisms that every one has with your posts onto me won't cut it Jason, such a lack of cunning is quite easy to see through lol!

    ReplyDelete
  135. 'Did I even read my facts'. Should I have? I wasn't actually discussing anything with you - but now you ask i actually did and there undeniably bad. I don't think anyone would disagree! But there not worse than hodgsons (though almost exactly as bad) and regardless of the start we are on course to betters last seasons league performance whilst spending a considerable amount less. For however bad we started this season under Rodgers, we were worse the 2nd half of last season as from January onward last year we were bottom 3 on form. The cup performances have been poor but they have been for years prior to last season so nothing new there. Rodgers also came in during a tournament where he had few players to work with in pre-season, went almost straight into competitive games, didn't have a recruitment team, was let down by the owners bringing in replacements for players that not all he wanted to leave, such as bellers and maxi. They wanted out and Rodgers had to get rid for that reason, the club cocked up bringing in replacements (though perhaps Rodgers could have fought his case more strongly). I would suggest these, whilst no excuse, are at least extenuating circumstances for the bad start. It also makes me laugh people banging on about only beating the bottom clubs rather than top teams when traditionally it has been our inability to beat the so called weak teams that have cost us. Right now we have to improve against the big teams but we should have beaten city, could easily have beaten utd at least once, had a winning goal chalked off against Everton and spurs own boss said the were lucky to beat us.
    So I don't think it's far off

    ReplyDelete
  136. In fairness we prob had the toughest start ever for 50 years. We played three top teams in the first 5 games, regardless of who was in charge I would have felt at least 3 of them 5 games we easy to lose

Jason, alot of players left LFC in the summer on free transfers, it was never going to be easy to replace them, our squad isn't complete yet but players Rodgers is bringing are exciting young players, borini is trying to hard he just needs to settle then he be scoring goals, Allen was Brillant when he joined us, he looks tired (not surprised played more games than last year also add Olympics) assaidi is another exciting player, Rodgers is easing him into his plans he will use him more next season. Sturridge-fast,skill full, can score goals good link up play with Suarez.... Then coutinho bringing in some Brazilian flair, skill, pass, close control,awareness,..... Rodgers himself-bright ideas, not scared to make tactical decisions, young, brings in youth gives them a chance if it doesn't work out then don't use them, he made better use of downing, hendo, erinque than KK did. You can't call for him to be sacked in his first year, it was always going to be hard, but us as Liverpool should back him not slate him. Rodgers had a selection problem against Oldham, no Johnson,no erinque, who to play LB? And another game in three days time. Couldn't play downing he working his socks off for the team. He needed a rest. So he had to put in robbo and Coates..... Agger needed a rest, carra can't play Sunday then Wednesday again.... So had to use Coates.... Which backfired but least he knows he isn't good enough.

Ae you for real fair better off with KK? kuyt would of still left and Bellamy everything would of still happened. Plus I wouldn't of trusted him with the funds. Yes he a legend but he was still in the dark ages of football. Rodgers is new, fresh ideas, and 2013 ideas!:)

"Clown" seriously.... He building Liverpool once again, our football is exciting to watch, we've scored more goals this year at this stage.... Have been unlucky not to beat city, united, even at spurs we gave them a good game had so many shots of the line, this is only the start, look when he puts his own stamp on the team.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Usually I am a purchase spend man, but since most people seem to claim that net spend is all that matters, and that website providing exactly that, why not refer to it. I have to adapt at times.

I, too, was very surprised to see them two teams up there in the spending league. Arsenal are doing incredibly well given their negative net spend whilst building a new stadium at the same time. Can see why FSG would like to emulate what they are doing as they may well be a force to reckon with as soon as they've paid of their ground. And it will then be self-sustainable.

    ReplyDelete
  145. why would that be unlikely to happen.... i think he'd jump at the chance to manage a bigger club

    ReplyDelete
  146. There seem to be a lack in balance when people speak of our current and previous managers.

I was sad Kenny was fired for a few reasons, and I do admit like all managers he made some mistakes, selling Merilles and not playing DK and MR on the wings.

Lets be clear, Kenny was not for his handling of the media, nor the LS affair. He was fired for having the ambition of a Liverpool manager, unlike BR. The owners want it this way and that is why the silence was deafening during the T-Shirt time. He was given a plank to walk alone with no support from the club.

Now , why Jamie would I say Kenny was more competitive:

He is and has been a winner.
He demands ambition from the owners, unlike some.
His teams in the 18 months had the best record against the top 6, this year livepool under BR has not a single victory against teams above us.
On the latter point, which is harder to fix, beat the team consistently below you or being able to beat the teams above you, take a while to think about that one......
We lost LS for 8 games, if BR lost him, for 8 games where would we be this year....yes does not bear thinking about.
AC or Borini, the former was a handful and was coming good, what is the latter and allen professed as great signings, both in my opinion are way below par and will be moved on at some stage, lost in the history books.
Kenny got the club winning (Twin towers 3 times and robbed of a critical fa cup final goal). Mind you he still would be sacked as people do not understand, we are becoming a poor mans Arsenal. As for Henry not shaking his hand, that should have drawn more uproar instead of Evra.

Now , what we can look forward to, speculating on youngsters, shifting on ones no good, selling ones that come good. Selling LS next summer at a good profit, not competing, flirting with CL year on year, no finals or winning anything. Silence from the owners, BR head when fans find the above not acceptable, prolonged and slow movement of expansion.

Somehow, this does not fit the Liverpool I grew up with, nor what Kenny and Steve Clark had in mind. The reality is that Liverpool underachieved last year but I took heart that Kenny went up against SAF and came out top in cup and PL games. Kenny did not sign well but he is a manager with belief and his record is the he is challenging all his career, finals, runners up, winner. I will never forget the day we slaughtered United and they were signing Happy Birthday, look on SAF face knew we had a leader with ambition and that could have been a 9 - 0 game.

So many articles are biased. Walk up, smell the coffee, look in the mirror, but the road ahead is not pleasant scenery.

BR is trying his best, given the deal he bought into with the owners, that was the price for getting the job. I don't like his signings much but he should be given some more time.

Rafa will never be hired by current owners, too outspoken when he would demand transfer funds and ambition to compete. Like them all Rafa had good and bad points. Wont go into that now.

    Following LFC a long time.

You have not yet provided one credible reason for your antipathy towards Rodgers.

  153. as i have said to you countless times if fsg were really going to back the manager there are not much better teams in world football, guardiola has not gone to munich for nothing hes been given 200 million to sort out his team plus no doubt he will also have the money he sells players for,if fsg want to try and do it on the cheap yes your right the big managers will not want to come and put there reputation on the line,

    ReplyDelete
  154. lol that one had me really laughing

    ReplyDelete
  155. re ant is that fact or your opinion

    ReplyDelete
  156. yes we do but its the manner in which we get beat oldham was a prime example if rodgers wants to play a young inexperinced back four you do not put allen in center mid you have to give them some protection, suarez was hardly going to be helping them was he,if lucas had started instead of allen or maybe shelvey imo we would be looking forward to everton at home now,he made the same mistakes against swansea, but dose not learn from them, and maybe i just don,t like him something i,ve never really thought about someone at the club but imo hes a ego maniac who would have a set of gates with his name on tomorrow if he could

  158. I've already acknowledged that by replying to Lee Evans that he is right about Alonso and I am sorry for thinking he was wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Just out of curiosity, Jason, do you think your comment is any better than me replying to someone that I find their comment hard to understand?

    ReplyDelete
  160. If I got a Pound for every question I've asked you and didn't receive a reply, then, erm, well, I would have some more money. My point actually is that I find it interesting that you blame another commentator for disappearing as soon as questions are asked.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I think we broke all sorts of negative records last season, too. This just shows how bad, or at least unbalanced, the squad Rodgers took over was/is.

    ReplyDelete
  162. By really backing the manager do you mean spending money the club doesn't generate?

Bayern Munich are a rich club, but still I have serious doubts about them giving Guardiola 240m to revamp their squad. These are just rumours. In order to get the licence to play in the Bundesliga the following season, every club has to hand in their balance sheets and if they don't break even or can't prove that they can continue running the club during the upcoming season, they don't get the license, but get relegated. If they are really about to spend 240m, then they surely have that money somewhere.

  163. Expecting a win and a draw away to teams who have lost once and three times respectively is quite a call. I don't think these are realistic expectations.

    ReplyDelete
  164. what do you want i,ve told you before i do not what to reply to you is that your facebook name because if it is i will send you the full uncensored  version if you wish

    ReplyDelete
  165. Deny what Jason, I have said it was as bad at one point, read the posts! It wasn't worse though which is was you are saying an isn't true. It's also improved a lot since then

    ReplyDelete
  166. You'd be sharing that money with me though anteater as he does the same with me, then inexplicably tries to flip it around lol

    ReplyDelete
  167. Be fair Jason you can't say FSG are 'doing it on the cheap'. You're comparing them to a tiny number of clubs that have crazy amounts of cash with sugar daddy owners or clubs that generate 100's millions more than us with how well they have been run for decades, like Munich, utd, etc. FSG spent 300 million buying the club, wiped of the debt and provided ample funds to KK and even br to a lesser degree. Whilst we allegedly had other interest from Arab families to buy us only FSG put in a bid because everyone else knew the level of debt and the requirement for a new stadium and the costs involved. Why do you think these sugar daddy owners buy 'small' clubs to transform rather than us?

    ReplyDelete
  168. mite havesomething to do with playing the lesser teams sincethenjust a thought lets see how we fair in our nexttwo matches

    ReplyDelete
  169. i,ve an idea why dont you two have a love in,watch out for knives thou, lol lol ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  170. What I want is that you back up those vicious allegations you make against me.

I'm not on Facebook, sorry. Anyway, I think you, too, have the capacity to communicate in a manner with me that didn't require censorship.

    ReplyDelete
  171. I find it sad that some people make strong comments but then don't share their motives and reasoning with the rest of us. To be fair, Jason recently posted his motives on here which were, if I recollect them correctly, that Kenny should still be Liverpool manager. Fair enough, his opinion.

Interesting to see that I am not the only one in for some special treatment from Jason, as puzzling as it is, as I don't have anything against him.

    ReplyDelete
  172. i have told you before i have been warned off jaimie at least twice over you so iam not going into further details, end off

    ReplyDelete
  173. Why have you been warned off over me? It's not that I am doing any harm to anybody. You make vicious allegations against me and I ask you for prove. That, I think, isn't asked to much. I've been talking to you in as a mild manner as I can in order to not upset you and don't tend to mean anything offensive towards you (or anybody else). What is your problem with me?

    ReplyDelete
  174. i,am not bothered if you upset me or not not that you have am thick skinned i don,t care do you not get  it,and you know i have been warned of f because you read the posts ,may i suggest we just leave it at that ,i do not reply to any of your posts you write on hear, unless there sent to me i,ve even stopped getting into your debates with other posters ,i perpopsely try and place my posts away from your comments so as you dont think i,am getting involved in your debates,

    ReplyDelete
  175. I'm no wiser than before, as you didn't answer any of my questions.

You got warned off because I've read your posts? I don't get that, either!

    ReplyDelete
  176. BTW, you seem to care as you obviously felt the need to post some vicious allegations about me.

    ReplyDelete
  177. there you go again mentioning other posters names  you havementioned my name at leasttwiceto other posters alone on this thread

    ReplyDelete
  178. Erm, yes, I didn't know it was forbidden. I've mentioned the names of other posters, too, when I quoted them. In the business I am usually employed in it is seen as a "capital sin" if someone doesn't mention where a quote is taken from. Didn't mean to offend you at all.

In this particular comment I am even making a case for you. I know that you didn't ask me to do it, but my inherent sense of justice forces me to do this. If someone writes something about someone else that is wrong or misleading, I feel the need to correct it.
But I don't see why you blame me for that. Is it in any way malicious? I don't think so, and never intended to either. It is not as if I said "Jason is this [swear word] or that [swear word]". Is that your problem with me? That I don't use swear words on here.

Others have mentioned your name, too, by the way. Some even in not so nice ways. Why don't you go against them?

    ReplyDelete
  179. Are you mentioning my name here?

    ReplyDelete
  180. no: very young cars "with great potential" :)

    ReplyDelete
  181. this is actually quite a good point. the majority of the players are still learning, but with noone to learn from.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Do you actually support Liverpool....I can't believe you do.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I find this really hard to write.....but well said Jamie. For about the first time ever I actually agree with you!!

    ReplyDelete
  184. That's your problem your willing us to lose. If you don't already go support Chelsea you will in perfectly there.

    ReplyDelete
  185. get real do i support lfc yes am i supposed to put up with the sh1te perfomances week after week because, you think i should,NO

    ReplyDelete
  186. In reference to the performances week in week out. In our last six league matches we have won 4 and lost 2 scoring 17 and conceding 5. In the equivalent games last season we won none drew 2 and lost 4 scoring 5 and conceding 9. They are facts so you either don't support us and just use this site to wind people up, are blind or think that winning matches and showing progress doesn't actually count above your opinion.
