Stop the press: LFC in talks to sign fantastic €9.5m Coutinho this week.

With the Wesley Sneijder deal officially dead in the water, Liverpool are now tracking his former team-mate, Philippe Coutinho, and latest reports indicate the the Reds are very close to agreeing a deal for the Brazilian playmaker.

Coutinho has emerged as a Liverpool transfer target over the the last few weeks, and at 20 years of age, he perfectly fits FSG's ridiculous, restrictive and counter-productive transfer policy.

Sky Sports reported this afternoon:

"Liverpool are continuing talks with Inter Milan over Philippe Coutinho.

"The Reds...have already had one bid rejected by Inter, which was in the region of £6.75million. Now the clubs are holding further discussions and the expectation is that a deal will be concluded shortly with Liverpool paying £8million (€9.5m)"

According to Guillem Balague, Coutinho can't wait to sign. He tweeted earlier:

"Liverpool and Coutinho are hopeful it will happen. The player is very excited about the move! Fee close to be agreed but not yet"

Coutinho - signed by Rafa Benitez during his short spell at Inter - won the the 2009 U17 Football Championship with Brazil, scoring three goals in five appearances during the tournament. He then went on to win the U20 World Cup in 2011, and then in October 2010, he made his debut for senior Brazil side in a 3-0 friendly victory over Iran. The Brazilian is certainly highly regarded - In an interview last year, Inter striker Diego Milito enthused:

"Coutinho? He's a fantastic player. We all knew he was a bit special. He's different to other players, and the time in Spain has done him good."

Speaking to Reporters in December, Coutinho was asked about the possibility of a future transfer away from Italy, and he replied:

"My future will be with Inter, I'm fine here, I'm happy. I want to grow and become a champion here"

He looks like a good player, but his creative stats are not amazing:

* 2012-13: 2 goals in 12 apps.
* 2011-12: 5 goals/6 assists in 24 apps.

On a related note: Tom Ince - another LFC option in a similar position - has not scored/created a goal in the last six games for Blackpool, who've lost four and drawn two of those games.

EDIT: 21:30pm - Coutinho responds

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia this evening, Coutinho addressed speculation linking him with a move to Anfield. He said:

"The rumors on the interest of Liverpool are nice, but my desire is to stay here in Milan"

  1. If we are after a playmaker, I don't understand why we weren't in to pick up Diego while his club were still trying to force him out.

That is the type of No. 10 that I want, if any, rather than a player like Sneijder.

  2. Looks like a good player but if we sign him will it hinder the progress of Suso who plays in the same position.

  3. we always moan about english signings, so everyone should be happy with a brazilian attack minded player dubed as the next kaka and for £8 mil aswell. but i can see people still being dissapointed.

  4. The Tom Ince situation is not really too surprising given the managerial position at Blackpool and all the talk of a possible switch back to Liverpool. At the end of the day he is still very young and it's perfectly understandable that he would be affected by all of that.  You can also understand why Blackpool are loath to let him go - they are as close to the relegation places as the play off places and the loss of Ince (or even the loss of Ince's form as highlighted in your stats) may well push them nearer to the former than the latter.

The biggest problem LFC have regarding Ince's price is the ongoing battle for Zaha's signature, with Palace throwing crazy figures around and Karl Oyston obviously thinking that if Zaha is worth the £15M that is sometimes quoted; then what is Ince worth?!

I would like to see Ince return to Liverpool - he looked sharp and the main threat against Cardiff the other evening, but the price has to be realistic.  If the Coutinho reports are correct, we would be buying a very highly rated full Brazil international for the same price as Blackpool want for Ince!!  Seems a bit of a no brainer as they say!

  5. Where's JC when you need a good moan?!

    ReplyDelete
  6. He might be a great talent, but I don't think we really need another young attacking midfielder. That is unless we sell two out of Shelvey, Suso, Pacheco.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I thought Couthnio was a holding mid.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Diego is being forced out of his club? Still? Think since that happened, they've changed managers.
Diego is a great player, really like him, but he is quite inconsistent, and a bit moody.

    ReplyDelete
  9. @Jay wake up already.. When is the last time you saw Diego play?? Exactly my point, so damn long ago. Talk about current players like Isco, belhanda or even J Verdu..

  10. good player hes got experience compared to ince, just wondering how the rodgers son in court alleigations and us always trying to groom young boys might tarnish our reputation

    ReplyDelete
  11. We don't really have good experiences with players being branded the next whoever. Biscan was the next Platini, then we've had the next Zidane in Bruno Cheyroux, the next Henry with Ryan Babel. The jury is still out on the next Gerrard Shelvey.

    ReplyDelete
  12. i wonder how this constant attempt by fsg to groom young boys could damage our reputation

  13. I hate all the tags of the "New" so and so. Seems every player is dubbed that these days.

Ryan, I think he will cost more than 8mil too, as I think they have rejected the 8mil offer.

  14. jaimie do i take it your no longer 100% behind fsg

    ReplyDelete
  15. No, he is a attacking mid, but can play left or right wing

    ReplyDelete
  16. I can`t see Pacheco lasting much longer. I always liked the guy, and was suprised he didn`t get more chances. He killed it at the under 21`s for spain, but for some reason he seems to have fallen by the wayside for us

    ReplyDelete
  17. who me or the maestro i hope you were not using my name to get a cheap vote or i would have to flag you as being offensive lol;-)

  18. sound get coutinho and sell pacheco and suso?
full brazilian for two u21 spaniards who are not world beaters and a bit lightweight for epl?

    ReplyDelete
  19. ince is a 3/4m tops and i mean tops....as for courtino im not impressed 5m max and thats a gamble

    ReplyDelete
  20. He would be a nice little signing for the future. I think we realy need someone  who can do a job now!! He does have crazy skills tho and would be rated higher than Sterling, Suso, not downing on current form.

    ReplyDelete
  21. DP i hope we sign the brazilian lad , tom ince wanted to leave , we got peanuts for him so to pay millions out to get him back , also i dont care one bit about blackpool and the chairman oyston , if they go down and down and down and out of every league ,

    ReplyDelete
  22. In fsg we trust

    ReplyDelete
  23. I really hope the club signs this player up. He would be an absolutely fantastic signing and the sort of young talent that has already been exposed to 1st team football in a decent league.

Coutinho is skilful, has pace and full of creativity. I think he has  progressed more than Chelsea's Oscar and will cost less than half of his transfer fee.

I know YouTube doesn't reflect a football players all round game but there is loads on this kid showing his skills playing for Inter and during his time at Espanyol and i'm sure it will have most of you excited over the prospect of him signing for our club.

    ReplyDelete
  24. is it not good to see LFC play the Liverpool way rather than the Swansea way. To see midfielders getting ahead of attackers refreshing

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like what they are doing tbh. Granted I would like a more established player in the team but they are building for the future. They are building a real team and I believe we will dominate or be right p there for years o come in a couple of years!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I first came across him when Rafa took over at Inter he sang his praises and gave him his big chance and looked good. After Rafa got sacked he told the LFC scouts about him and ever since the club has been watching him closely. I really think he could be a top top player for us and with Lucas and Suarez around it will help him adjust to life in the North West.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like the look of Coutinho, he does need to improve in some areas, namely learning when to run at defenders, and when to pass. He is still a little lightweight, but has bulked up a lot in the last year.

I wouldn`t read to much into his Brazil Cap tho. It was for a friendly, and only one, he hasn`t had any since.

Anteater pointed out on another thread, he has had a few injuries too.

The positives though for me, are he looks like a very exciting player, and would attack yet another, nightmare player for the opposition to try to mark. While I would like to have a more experienced player come in, FSG seem to prefer the younger ones, so in that case Coutinho would be sweet. I would to see Ince too, but feel we could wait until the summer for him if needed.

So if we signed Coutinho, where would he fit, and who would you drop to fit him in?

    --------------Reina----------------
    Wisdom --Skrtel --Agger ---Johnson
    ----------Lucas---Gerrard----------
    --Suarez----Coutinho----Sterling
    ------------Sturridge----------

Thing is, I prefer Suarez to be in the place of Coutinho, but not sure I would want Coutinho out right, and if we did 4-3-3 Suarez would again be pushed out right.

  28. Philippe Countinho was signed by ex Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez during his short stint at Inter from Brazilian outfit Vasco Dagama. He is clearly no Sniejder but I believe that the 20 year old possesses a high footballing IQ,clearly someone with . We could certainly use some more Joga bonito (means "play beautifully" in Portuguese) or simply to return football to a higher and honorable state a sort of nirvana. This can certainly be achieved in Anfield by bringing in more technically talented individuals. Usually means shopping far from home.  The search to replace Alonso is an ongoing affair. I think we have taken  an important step in the right direction with the Brazilian and his wages will shouldn't cause the good people at FSG to lose any sleep at night. Let's bring in more classy players.

Now if only BR can bring forgotten man Tom Ince back into the fold from Blackpool. Won't hold my breath on that one this transfer negotiation might be dead in the water.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think it's more likely he'll play on the left of the front three - That's where he played while on loan at Espanyol and he performed good - the way Rodgers has the team playing ... i'm sure the attacking players will be changing their positions a few times during the games.

    ReplyDelete
  30. for those who like there stats, nice bit of info below. 55% of his shoots hit the target, which is impressive

    http://blog.squawka.com/2013/01/21/liverpool-miss-out-on-sneijder-but-negotiate-for-inter-milan-youngster-instead/?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ja.. do we need another midfielder?? I mean looking at it from a stats point of veiw we create avg 15+ chances at goal ... But i could see him playing for lfc though .. lucas having a fellow brazillian to link up with... but who would BR drop in his usual 433 when he clearly plays allen 95% of the time ... your thoughts ??

    ReplyDelete
  32. If this man can do a step-over, I'm on board.

It seems a bit good to be true that we'd buy a skilful, pacy, Brazilian. I bet you this is just a gambit so that we can land whoever the 'next Matt Jarvis' is, or some such bollocks.

Phil's price seems a bit high, considering his standing in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jason, please stop making inappropriate references to FSG (you know what I mean)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't know about know, I'm talking about at the beginning of the season when he was returning from his loan spell.

The constitution of our team hasn't changed, so if we need a No. 10 now, we needed one then. And he was definitely available so I don't know why we ignored him (unless Rodgers somehow really had been convinced that Shelvey was *that guy*) as the guy is/was a ready made quality player that would've came relatively cheap

    ReplyDelete
  35. i do not thats why i,am asking,i,am not saying your against them but imo you can not be 100%still behind them even if its just based on there transfer policy (thats why i did not ask about rodgers they are different subjects)just want your take on it

    ReplyDelete
  36. Southampton and Villa are also in for Coutinho, and Inter are now bumping up the asking price.
And then today, Sky Italia have said Coutinho was LFC bound, then that he was not for sale, and not apparently the price has risen

hope this doesnt turn into a saga

    ReplyDelete
  37. I haven't watched Isco, Belhanda, J Verdu or Coutinho play at all, so what is the point in me making a comment about them.

I've got no interest in trying to prove what a great scout I am, by constantly bleating on about the next big thing/whoever is the current name in the papers - I'll just talk about players I've watched and rated, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree....I really thought he was going to get a chance with Rodgers cause he seems to fit the mould perfectly but there must be something we don't know??

    ReplyDelete
  39. sorry jumped straight to your post thought you had replyed to the one about are you still 100%behind fsg(yes on that one i do no what you mean,t i thought it was quite amusing though

    ReplyDelete
  40. If he is bought he will have to fight his way into the 1st team. I would have him play on the left. Fluidity is the key,.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The difference is, mate, Coutinho is not wanted/needed at Inter whilst Ince is Blackpool's best player. A player's value is what his parent team deems it to be: if you want my best player, then pay me what he's worth to my team.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Re your other question about FSG: Yes, I'm still behind them' I just don't like their transfer policy.

It's maybe not 100%, but it's definitely in the 90s.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ah, well that's game over then. Southampton seem to beat us whenever there's a head to head battle (Forren/Ramirez) ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's called competition within. How long are you willing to wait for one players progress in order for success? The club is more important with positive results to succeed .

    ReplyDelete
  45. fair point well made.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Good post mate, i think the offer we made for ince was fair & its good to see we wont let clubs take us for mugs any longer, given a choice between the two id pick coutinho everytime

    ReplyDelete
  47. Reinforcements are needed in MF. Shelvey, Downing and Hendo are still not up to mark.

    ReplyDelete
  48. agree all for signing youngsters but when you have rodgers and gerrard telling fsg we need some experience its time for them to listen

    ReplyDelete
  49. sh1t looks like were going to get gazoomped again

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think Suarez would be a pretty good No. 10, and it seems to be Suso's best position, too. Shelvey, well, we will have to see how he develops.
Don't know whether Wolfsburg would want to let Diego go to be honest. They don't have to money wise and he is their pivotal player. Haven't heard about him being available to be honest. He didn't get along with their previous manager, but he (the manager) is known for causing problems to some players.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Do we think Coutinho will continue to grow a bit yet?  He's 67 inches tall and weighs 160 lbs...and I'll bet that's being nice.  Are we sure he's going to hold up to PL strength and size?

    ReplyDelete
  52. He looked pretty good when he recently played behind the main striker. He's wasted on the wings and as a centre forward. Yes, he probably won't last much longer with us, which is a pity as he is a talented lad.

    ReplyDelete
  53. agree m8 f"ck the tikka takka pass and move when we do that we look good keep it quick and simple allens to negotive i swear players were not passing to him on saturday because they new he would slow up the attack

    ReplyDelete
  54. every signing is a gamble. if he does move, patience and encouragement are paramount.

    ReplyDelete
  55. There is a DM called Coutinho and he's without a club and much older. And then there is Moutinho of Porto.

    ReplyDelete
  56. room for improvement then!?

    ReplyDelete
  57. rafa rated him? good thing or potential dud?

    ReplyDelete
  58. id sooner lose out that be stitched up by an italian club....it may sound petty but i really hate with a passion the thought of giving italian clubs a penny more than we need ...

    ReplyDelete
  59. If he's good enough for Rafa, let's snap him up.......

    Is he any good anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  60. not suso, but pacheco isn't cutting the mustard and it wouldn't be a big miss if he moved on.

    ReplyDelete
  61. trust me this guy isnt that good.....look at his stats...and why do you think they want rid

    ReplyDelete
  62.  what utter garbage about Downing and Henderson.
Do you actually watch Liverpool Football Club

    ReplyDelete
  63. What we need is a bit of steel center mid, Lucas and Allen, too lightweight, boy do we miss Masch.

    ReplyDelete
  64. For a while, Manure's difference against other teams was Ronaldo. As much as he was a bit of a poser & a fanny, he was/is an extremely gifted and talented footballer. He landed at the Theatre of Shite as a kid and turned into one of the best payers of his generation. I know it's a big ask for this lad but, if nurtured properly, maybe he can become our own Ronaldo, or have a similar impact.

    ReplyDelete
  65. double like. the pressure heaped on players by pessimistic supporters slagging them off is 70% the reason they perform poorly

    ReplyDelete
  66. A pain in the backside to fit in tactically, Diego. He is like Riquelme in that regard.  He can only really play in one position, in mostly one formation, everything has to go through him, in order for him to play anywhere near well. Ideal formation for him is in the hole behind two strikers (similar to Kaka's position at Milan, although executed differently due to their different styles). Yep, class when he is on form but rather average when not played in optimum circumstances. Watched him quite a lot at Juve and tactically, he was a massive headache. They didn't have the right balance for a 4-3-1-2 formation, his best formation in my view, so he didn't play well in that, and any other formation, moments here and there aside, he was predictably very ordinary. They handicapped themselves tactically, the moment they bought him. He is a very sensitive playmaker, in terms of tactics. Not saying I would want Sneijder but much rather have Sneijder over Diego, imo, if one was to choose out of the two. Conjured up some sort of decent form at Atleti but before that move, spent a long time being average-at-best, a longer spell than Sneijder's current forgettable form arguably. Quality on his day but generally, bit too much of a potential tactical headache, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Have you watched him play? or are you just using stats to back up your argument?

    ReplyDelete
  68. He's already competing with Gerrard, Lucas, Allen, Shelvey and Henderson for a central midfield spot. If we add Coutinho then this reduces further the chances of Suso getting games which he needs to keep progressing. I've seen Coutinho play a few times and ill admit he looks very skilful, he also looks very lightweight and I wonder if he will be able to stand up to physicality of the Premier league.

This guy a very good little player, he can beat a man with his skill also he knows the back of the net.... He young and he has a good future in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Considering our lack of CL money to justify the considerable wage bill we have had in recent seasons  as well as possible FFP planning reasons behind the cost-cutting on wages last summer, I don't think the club was in a ideal position to splash big wages on Diego in the summer. He is on over 8m euros a year at Wolfsburg, excluding bonuses. Under FSG and without CL money, I don't think we'll see them handing out many £100k+ contracts to players anytime soon and wasn't surprised it didn't happen last summer on new players, especially on a player that hasn't been anything to write home about since leaving Werder. So am not surprised if we didn't have a interest in Diego, let alone make a attempt for him.

Young, potential and cheaper is the motto for now for FSG, me thinks.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Can't see this happening either.

Firstly it sounds like he'd rather stay at Inter and try and force himself into the team.

Secondly, they want £10m for a player they bought for 4m euros a couple of years ago despite the fact he can't really get into their side. I wouldn't pay more than £6m for him.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Haven't kept track of him since that season after Jose left, along with other youngster Biabiany, so I'm not sure on him but he did look exciting back then, amongst the mess that was Inter.

    ReplyDelete
  73. the whole Tom  Ince Blackpool  incident is rather embarrassing to say the least. I hope Liverpool has learned a lesson from the whole experience. I would have liked Liverpool to pursue Ince because he is an academy graduate who turned out to actually to be a rather decent player. Would have liked him to continue to develop as a first team regular for us. Unfortunately Liverpool did not really appreciate him enough and now they do they will have to pay a king's ransom to get him back.

Ofcourse compared to Coutinho , Ince is a seconadary choice. Ince is a player who i believe has a lot of potential to take his game to the next level and it is a shame he wouldn't be doing so at Anfield is all i am saying.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Was Rafa acting as a scout for Liverpool even when he was no longer there ?  Hmmm

    ReplyDelete
  75. Looks like everyday there are three more players Liverpool are interested in or close to signing . Stretching credibility a bit

    ReplyDelete
  76.  like aquaman...rafa signed a lot of crap players as well as good ones

    ReplyDelete
  77. Being technically gifted isn't the only thing needed in this league as NURI SAHIN and perhaps ASSAIDI can testify. You need a certain level of strength to combat tough challenges and that's my major reservation about this player.
However,I like his playing style and his age and talent should be enough to secure a healthy chunk of money back if it doesn't work out.I'm Very excited about this one and although he's a player everyone knows its good to see BR being slightly more creative in transfer market!

    ReplyDelete
  78. ive followed his career a bit as rafa signed him ....and done a bit of research and my conclusion is hell be another aquaman...he just wont be able to handle the prem hes lightweight and prone to injuries  at a young age...we have enough diddy men in midfield you will be after signing dicky mint next

    ReplyDelete
  79. villa at 6m is a steal

    ReplyDelete
  80. are you messing Shelvey is a donkey he has nothing going for him he is a championship player at the best This Suso is a joke he is capable of nothing send him home to spain he is to lightweight if you know anything about football they are the players liverpool do not need if were going to get back to the top. Liverpool are a 8th to 5th place team for the next five years and we will never be number again face it we are a hasbeen club

    ReplyDelete
  81. suso is not good we should send him home

    ReplyDelete
  82. downings shit he is good for nothing a fool of aman

    ReplyDelete
  83. joe allen rubish, shelvey rubish, lucas rubish, suso rubish, downing rubish, henderson poo, gerrard past it , suarez cheat, strirling overated, Raina wants out Liverpool a mess ha ha

    ReplyDelete
  84. Tell me about players like David Silva, Kagawa .. Are they muscled magicians?

No they arent, suso´s combinations are really clever, he shows a lot of skills, dribbling, ball controll and his passing is outstanding IMO. Hes still young, but hes a clever player. Why does David Silva score regular goals for ManCity if hes to lightweight for this leage? Suso could be the "next" (well i agruably hate saying the next) David Silva, and this is something great!

Shelvey isnt an outstanding player, but he knows where to put the ball, he isnt afraid of anyone, and eventho i think hes not the most intelligent, he has the character and cojones to yell at old legends such as Ferguson. His attitude is right, and he has talent. He will never be the most skillfull player, but hes strong and can score goals, get in areal duels, and win the ball back.

    ReplyDelete
  85. what as Suso done in any game he as played in nothing no goals no assists nuff said crap and as for shelvey he is hopless any idiot could back chat a great man like sir alex liverpool will be no where near teams like chelsea city or United with people like them in the team

    ReplyDelete
  86. I thought BR insisted he picks the transfer targets when he signed...

    ReplyDelete
  87. Suso has just turned 19 and featured in less than 20 matches for us and you write him off already. If knowing anything about football means making such statements as the one you've made, then I'd rather know nothing about football. Hardly ever would it occur that a youngster was coming through if the world would work your way. Football would go extinct as soon as the seasoned pros retired.

BTW, what does "we will never be number again" mean?

    ReplyDelete
  88. And he (Shelvey) is full of energy.

    ReplyDelete
  89. absolutely!

Hopefully you saw the Europa League Groupe Stage, he absolutely dominated Young Boys!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Thats exactly that sort of pesimism i hate, ppl who talk about Liverpool never being on top again. - i think thats what "lizard" tried to tell us

If we get back to CL anytime, FSG surely will spend money on world class players, so we can face the elite of the world on a level!
We have the talents and future prospects to get there!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Lightweight, that generic, cliche term almost as bad as 'He's got quick feet for a big man'. Awful analysis mate. Have you seen Mata, Silva, Sterling, Kagawa, Pienaar etc. play in the Prem? Probably what you'd define as 'lightweight' players, who all funnily enough are quality. Perhaps slightly injury prone at the moment but he's 21 in June, time is on his side. I suggest you read what professionals and coaches who have played/trained alongside him have to say about him (Milito, Rafa etc.) and you should also watch Coutinho 'a bit' more than you already do...then make a bit more of an educated conclusion rather than your awful opinionated conclusion based on just following his career 'a bit'.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I watch every match. Shelvey unfortunately has quite a dip in form recently.

    ReplyDelete
  93. well he had one really poor game, i still back him,  as i said - not of his wonderfull football skills- more because of his attitude and his toughness

    ReplyDelete
  94. Yep, being pessimistic won't help us one bit. And it even contradicts our club anthem. Some people obviously don't understand it. Plus they lack patience. Most knowledgeable fans in the world? Having a laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Pesimism and Liverpool should be one of the biggest conracts in the world, according to the CL Final 2005.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I like your comment, especially for calling C.Ronaldo a f@nny.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Read somewhere that half of the January signings last year happened in the last week of the window. That means plenty of names that will pop up for the rest of the month.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Maybe you should learn how to spell the word 'rubbish' before you come on here and spout it. Then learn how to spell the names of the players you feel fit to comment on. Insert the German word for 'barking' here.

    ReplyDelete
  99. i hate to rain on your parade but them guys are mostly forwards ...this guy would get overrun in the middle 3 of a 433 formation....id define a player lightweight if he is lightweight and this guy is lightweight in every sense bar his wages...that plus the fact the guys doesnt want to leave inter makes your views on accuiring him as lightweight also Lol

    ReplyDelete
  100. As was a certain Kenny Dalglish in his playing days so not sure your point has any relevance

    ReplyDelete
  101. You're not the brightest.

Forget the fact he plays in the a-league (even though he is one of the most exciting players in the league) he has been a standout for the national team every time he plays, after he walked into a team that finished ahead of italy in the last world cup!

  105. Yep, your right mate, the mistake was allowing ince to leave inthe first place, especially for the peanuts we got for him

  106.  Just because its your opinion does not make it correct and as I have pointed out previously if you are truly a LFC supporter our detractors do not need your help to stick the boots in. Time to take stock of some of your comments Jaimie.

  107. Suso is a future star and hopefully be a Liverpool player for years to come. Either you are a rival fan trying to get a rise out of Liverpool fans or you really know nothing about football. Which one is it??

  108. This ain't the 1970's before the international players were drawn to the EPL for the money...and Dalglish was a striker who didn't have to spend the entire game trying to control the mid-field.  All those guys that Manalicream mentions  get run off the ball as often as not. We need more size and speed.

  109. If you want to compete with the big teams in Europe, We need experienced and skillful players. They are average and do not have the class nor temperament to represent a club like Liverpool.  Hendo and Shelvey are potentials but for the  future only. So if you have something constructive to say say it instead of shooting your mouth.

  110.  in the context of where LFC is at you are spouting garbage,
we are not going to get Xabi and his like joining us so we have to do with second rankers and the players you mention are in that class and are upto the mark. It is a long way back for us and to slag off the best players we can afford is stupid

Well whether he's good enough or not we can only know for sure till he comes over. At that price, maybe worth a gamble. Really don't expect him to jump straight into the team anyway.

  112. Seems that he's not too enthusiastic himself. Prefers to stay at Inter. So if that is the case that is exactly what he should do.

  113. Thought it was old news (well, not old I guess, as it was reported only a few weeks ago), the Villa and Southampton story, unless its either been regurgitated or they are back in but Coutinho did play for Espanyol when they were managed by Southampton's new manager.....

  114. well said tommy lad , the easiest thing to do is slag the player of if im either bored or going through a rough day , deflect my chit , toughest thing for me to do is own it and respond by way of being responsible for my actions ,then the player feels it , he suffers personally , the team suffers cos he's suffering loss of confidence , all because im deflecting my own chit and trapped in negitivity , im trying to support my team club and fellow reds supporter co at the end of the day we're all in this together im remaining positive with fsg and rodgers the team too , well tommy thanks for you words they have helped me

  115. I don't think it matters too much that as it stands he wants to stay. If you remember the whole Borini fiasco then money and apparently Liverpool is a big pull. I would be more concerned with what we are getting in return. Considering our game is based on possession he is a bit of a funny target as one of his big weaknesses at present is his ability to retain possession........and his finishing is not amazing. In saying that he does look very talented and I was not 100% behind the Sturridge transfer and so far that has worked out pretty well. If we are going for this guy then I would at the very least test the resolve of Malaga for Isco first. Just a thought!

  116. I agree with you. We have to do with second ranker players for now. and the players mentioned are just that.

  117.  but they are no worse than Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia and Young but the scum have more consistent goal sorers whereas for years we have relied on one + gerrard (Torres, suarez)
we go for midfielders they have gone for scorers and that is the difference and until we do the same we will struggle
