Sam Allardyce reveals Andy Carroll transfer plans...

With the January transfer window just around the corner, West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has revealed his plans for crocked loan striker Andy Carroll, and thankfully, it's good news for Liverpool.

Since signing his loan deal with the Hammers in August, Carroll has scored just one goal in thirteen hours of football, and to compound his goalscoring misery, the £35m man suffered a knee injury, which will keep him on the sidelines until the end of january at the earliest.

Like Liverpool, West Ham have not received anything approaching value for money yet, and recent reports suggested that the club could be on the verge of cancelling the loan deal.

Reds fans across the globe gasped in collective horror at the thought of Carroll returning to Anfield, but luckily, that doesn't seem to be on the agenda.

Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce was asked if Carroll would be returning to Anfield in January. He said:

“We don’t want to send Andy back [to Liverpool]. We want him fit and scoring goals for us. He will join in training, probably some time next week".

This is great news. Carroll is not the type of player Liverpool need, even as a so-called 'Plan B'. The sooner he starts scoring goals for West Ham the better, because the more successful he is at Upton Park, the more likely they will be sign him permanently in the summer.

Andy Carrol is shit

Soulshalize said...

If Carrol was prepared to sit on the bench and be used extremely sparingly i would keep him around as a complete game changer.

I get the feelling that he's not that type of guy, could of done with a player like him at stoke (plan B or C maybe)??

Deebo said...

Utter shit

Jay said...

It's not accurate to say that 'reds fans across the globe gasped in collective horror' as there are a significant number of fans that want him back at LFC.

I didn't even know that West Ham could send him back though. I thought that he was just theirs for the season, and automatically their's for a pre-arranged price if they avoid relegation?

The sooner we can move on and completely wipe the slate clean from Dalglish/Commoli's moments of madness, the better...

LFCOsteopath said...

I would personally give the boy a chance, he is not a bad player but B Rod does not rate him so a swap including cash could be on the cards with Ba coming to Anfield! Chelsea are being linked with Ba tonight though!! :(

LFCOsteopath said...

It is a shame because the memory of A.Carroll terrorising John Terry last season was awesome! He was unstoppable on the day and he is still young with an abundance of potential!! It is a shame that he was allowed to leave in the first place, which may be the reason why Liverpool are languishing in mid-table today? What are your views liverpool4life, Jason, originalchan?

Jaimie K said...

I didn't say all Reds fans. The number is unspecified. There are some fans across the globe who had that reaction. I certainly did, and I'm sure a few more did, so that sentence is accurate :-)

Ltown said...

No

Ltown said...

The problem is he IS actually a bad player.
5 goals in 45 games sais it all really...

Chuckyred said...

5 in 45 APPEARANCES, not GAMES. Totally different statistic. Jaimie towards the end of the season he looked good. He deserved a chance. Henderson, Entique and Downing where given a chance and right now all are defibitely improving with every performance. Why the hell not Carroll? He could of had til January surely? I think hes been treated shockingly to be honest. He didnt decide the price and that was his downfall. Had he been under 10 mil noone would bat an eyelid.

Soulshalize said...

Maxi gone,Kuyt gone, bellamy gone,(GOALS), you do the math, this why we struggle. Until this is addressed it wil be difficult to finish off teams convincingly! if carrol must return then... he returns, all hands to the deck!!!

Geh059 said...

We needed someone big and strong against Stoke, you're right, but the problem with Carroll is his lack of mobility, and is he really a footballer? in the true sense of the word, he misses more than he scores, he can head a ball but not with great accuracy, remember Tony Hateley or John Toshack, they were big and awkward but their heading was excellent,Toshack even scored with his feet! great for a big man, Carroll does not have even that skill, i am sorry to say, i still like Carroll, but i am not sure why!! maybe it's because he still terrifies defenses, he got a raw deal at LFC, and i would welcome him back just to give him the chance to prove himself, that's how mixed up he leaves me!

Flamineo said...

West Ham don't have to buy him if they avoid relegation and they don't have 17 mil to blow on one player. He'll return to liverpool if no-one else buys him.

Soulshalize said...

I get what ur saying, but i think there is more to come from the footballer Andy Caroll, he's fairly young, in the England squad so he's got something about him which some people like.

he's not my ideal player in stature and style but i think that's just why he should be given a chance, as a team i understand what BR is doing but we need options, just look at dzeko, how much points has he earned man city and he is no aguero.

Keep the faith YNWA.

pandle said...

I agree.  AC is a one dimensional player.  We need somebody big and strong to muscle people of the ball and to be the post that Suarez circles...somebody with a cannon for a leg and who also has a quick release.

DerBaumMann said...

ive mixed feelings about him, hes not the best player yet. but he can develop and get one of the best strikers. he was always hungry for goals and he has a good carakter. i liked him and i really felt sorry about the price we bought him, because this killed his career.. BR didnt gave him a eyeblink of a chance and thats harsh IMO. I think if a manager comes to a club he has to adapt with the players, not sort out half of the team. It was a bad and mean decision by BR to sort him out so quickly, you cant play ticky taka from the first minute of the season, so Big Andy still wouldnt be a missfit in our squad. You see Agger and SKrtel scoring some heading goals just because of the corners we produce, imagine how many goals andy would score for us if gerrard targets him with some high crosses (as he did at the EM12)

Still love Andy, hes a great stiker with loads of positive abilities. He couldnt really prove his qualities at the beginning but towards the end of the season he showed what hes capable of. Just remember the fa cup final when cech was forced to make one of his best safes he ever did. If you buy someone for 35m (wich of course we all know was totally nonsense, and overpaid) all the fans expect something impressive from the player, and its hard to show your abilities under this pressure becaue youre getting criticised all the time. i really feel sorry for him, and dont think BR should treat him that way, it was a big misstake to buy him, of course it was, but right now its to late, we should just try to get him do his best for us and score goals (what unfortuneately he will never do for us) :( Sorry for some worse grammar misstakes ;) YNWA from austria

Carroll is NOT a bad player. He just needs to play in a team that suits his playing style. If you say he is not a versatile player who can fit into any teams' formation, then I agree but certainly not a bad player.

And Liverpool does not suit him. So, we should let the lad go.

Pete said...

I think this is a complete joke. Alright maybe Carroll shouldn't come back, he had one season to perform and he left it very, very late. The attitudes towards our own players like Carroll, Downing and Henderson is a disgrace.

Fulham are heavily linked with Hendo and because Rodgers thinks he knows all the solutions he will most likely be sold, and JK and co will be over the moon.

Pete said...

There was so much attention about KD's 'flops' and from the outside looking in Rodgers thought he knew the solution. He came in and axed Carroll, Adam and Spearing, and tossed Downing and Henderson aside.

It was the wrong thing to do.

Suhal A. said...

Mate you said "Reds fans across the globe" that is everyone.

redsun said...

Carroll is actually a biiter wine for Liverpool, once he's kept playing for some regular game i'm sure he will show what he can do. A fair chance is needed to make him prove that he is capable to scores. Look Downing case, tell him the right words and give him an ultimate ultimatum then we see how he react till the end of this season. If he still not change, axed him is the only way out.

Chib Akobundu said...

LFCOsteopath Andy is not a bad player i got to agree with. I will give him his chance. His height will help him in goal as our new goalie cause Reina needs competition. As for the center forward position he would be down the pecking order behind anyone from the stands at our next home game who can prove they've got a decent touch on the ball. We should hold tryouts at half-time to find a decent striker.

Truth said...

He still can be used in set-piece which I agree that he can be a game changer

Watt D. Hehl said...

Well is there any large number of people who would be excited not only in his return but also in the lost money from the transfer to Westham.

Watt D. Hehl said...

Well had he not made the changes the team's cieling is that of a mid-table team, there would be no opportunity for growth. Plus like every other manager , he wanted to make his own imprint on the team. Honestly none of those guys were worth keeping.

Cfleejb said...

nick1811 said...

no it's not. what jaimie said is just like saying there are muslims across the globe who would blow themselves up in terrorist attacks, but it doesn't specify them as the majority or minority (in this case it would be the tiny minority of extremists). if he said 'most reds fans across the globe', it'd be different.

nick1811 said...

he plays for west ham, who suit his style, but has 1 goal in 13 games

nick1811 said...

so out of those 45 appearances, about over half of them were starting games/full games. that's still ordinary

Xxcell2010 said...

Yes, it will be good news if AC is not returning.

KD and Comolli's moment of madness will haunt LFC for the longest we can imagine. The damage is already there, regardless whether AC returns or not. Just hope he scores some goals for West Ham so they will cough up some money to buy him over permanently.

Clayton D said...

No sir, he really IS a BAD player...

Clayton D said...

Liverpool has been languishing in mid-table for the past two-three seasons and as bad as Carrol is (he seriously is bad) its not all his fault though, the problem with Liverpool are their lack of depth and inconsistent nature

Jason Carr said...

jaimie why is it good news, west ham do not say they are going to buy him ,allardyce says he would like to keep him and imo that means on loan, were we pay some of his wages just another aquaman, joke cole, situation

Clayton D said...

the only mistake BR has done is not getting in a replacement for Andy, but as far sacking the old loser goes I think that was the best decision Liverpool has made in the market for the last couple of season's (and managers) his goal to shot ratio is pathetic, so not only is he a totally useless on a football pitch, he is also completely and utterly wasteful, I think this guy single handedly tarnished King Kenny's flawless legacy at LFC

Nige said...

AC just doesn't suit the style of play Brendan is trying to instill in the squad. He is ok with the ball at his feet, but it's not his natural game. He likes being in the box and attacking crosses. We don't do that for the whole game. We build our play up in an accurate way now. We keep the ball on th deck. One two passing. Movement. Full backs overlapping. Midfielders running beyond Suarez to break offside trap. It won't work and it is a shame for Andy. He can be a good striker but not in the system we play. Yes he did terrorise terry in that game, but he'd have to play like that permanently- it's not his game.
Whereas, For Suarez it is his game to twist, wriggle, dribble, create as well as score, chase down defenders. Fighting for any half chance to try and create a chance for the team, like he did again yesterday at QPR when he somehow positioned his body in front of two defenders and got his left foot to the ball to pull it back for Stevie on the penalty spot, who went for placement over power and was unlucky not to squeeze the shot in. That's opitimises Suarez for me. Never gives up anything and I love that about his game. His determination and passion is outstanding.
I feel sorry for Andy. The fee is a weight around his neck. The move hasn't worked out. The loan at west ham isn't going well. Newcastle fans heckling him. I just can't see how he would fit into the fluidity of the front 3 at LFC these days......

Eric said...

The pain of it all is that with him injured and even before that, scoring as little as he did for us, his price is dropping daily. I honestly believe we won't even get close to getting the 18 million the club wants. 10 million tops. Horrifying thought...

Zulaidilm said...

He should stay at hammers and scoring goals. We can take advantage from that circumstances.

malc said...

I am starting to see the game plan now, and in the QPR game i don't remember seeing many blind crosses into the box hoping for someone to nod it in.  Downing was crossing into the box frequently before, but even he has stopped doing it, and now its all about short passing from end to end.  If this is the game plan (haven't seen plan B yet) , then Carroll may not fit in.  But it doesn't say he can't. From what i have seen of him, he's got a wicked left foot and has scored many times from it.  The only major disadvantage he has, is he is not as mobile and quick.  But I still believe he has potential because he does have technique (not lots but some) and there a loads of big and mobile forwards around that he can hope to become similar to in the future, eg Gomez, Dzeko, Klose

Chuckyred said...

But its nowhere near ad bad when its 5 in 22.5, he had been injured and our team werent exactly putting away a lot of chances where they?

Septimus_severus said...

If you want to know just how good/bad a player is, just look at the other teams trying to sign them.
In Andy Carroll's case I don't see Top Teams in the Premier League, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter/AC Milan, PSG,Dortmund etc coming in for him.

The level of dishonesty in amongst some English fans is shocking sometimes.
There is a reason why England has never won anything in International Football since 1966.
England RARELY produces technically gifted players.
The premier league is NOT the best league in the world because it doesn't attract the best players ergo, Messi Ineista Xavi Ronaldo etc DON'T PLAYER HERE.
Just to drive home my point even when you take those really technically gifted players in the Premier League they're NOT ENGLISH.

Until English fans, press and stupid Managers (Wenger being the exception) paying these overpaid English footballers the money they WONT IMPROVE.
Too many journeymen like Spearing, Adams,Carroll, Downing & Henderson are allowed to get away with it because fans hype them up.

Get a grip, Carroll is NOT TECHNICALLY GOOD ENOUGH to play in a pass and move team.

Chuckyred said...

To add to this Carrolls record is actually 11 goals in 58 APPEARANCES. Thats not too bad for a player that never played 3 games in a row up until sunmat like april this year.

Midtable madness said...

KD's moment of madness ... Hmm if he'd not been axed we would have been in the top 4 and stand a chance to attract top players as they would actually know WHO the manager was. Now we're shite busy trimming the wage bill and alienating the majority of our top players (incuding Andy). LFC supporters the most knowledgeable ... That should rule out the majority of the previous commentators

Bopperbrown said...

if we had a jordan rhodes type player to play off all the knock downs andy carroll wins id sighn him but we dont plus goals return is simply nowhere near good enough send him back and sighn rhodes or preferably charlie austin

Jay said...

Where is the evidence to suggest we'd now be in the Top 4? The signings being made weren't pointing towards any impending improvement and results were sliding backwards throughout Dalglish's tenure.

I wanted him to succeed as much as anybody else, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Septimus_severus said...

Andy Carroll is not nor has ever been a 'Top Player'.

Septimus_severus said...

I can't believe some of the drivel being written here , in a desperate attempt to save a player and a Managers reputation.
DALGLISH WAS WRONG TO BUY HIM AND ANDY CARROLL IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
As the very first poster stated in this thread if Carroll is happy to warm the bench and come on as a ' last resort' then fine.
Other than that he's TECHNICALLY POOR and should be nowhere near the starting Eleven.

LFCOsteopath said...

Lol! Carroll was injured last season. He was coming back to form towards the end! B. Rod has not given him a chance. Don't forget Harry Houdini also was willing to pay £30M for Carroll. Maybe he should go to QPR and then if starts banging in a few goals, some reds fans may change their minds?

LFCOsteopath said...

When you go to a new club, you need time to settle. Caroll also got injured which did not help his cause. Towards the end of last season though his record was something like 3 goals in 6 games. He was a menace against Chelsea and was nearly our saviour in our last FA cup match. He is young and deserves a chance but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

LFCOsteopath said...

Chib Akobundu said...

the only problem with Andy is that he is taking too long to do what a whole host of others do more naturally. A lot of excuses available as to why Andy is not playing at his full potential.

Harry wouldn't want him today as he already knows too much about how Carroll operates. Harry's problems are really pretty bad these days and he will need someone who can come in and hit the ground running firing on all cylinders not someone who  is still trying to find his feet. Someone who can take a beating up front and still find the back of the goal and not someone who gets knocked over in a strong breeze. Harry needs a player he can't get, Harry needs Drogba or someone similar to stay up this season. Carroll can stay in West Ham or return to Newcastle either one is okay with me.

I believe he should continue to develop in a small team that nobody cares too much about. Liverpool is  too massive a team and he will continue to be under the microscope every time he sneezes. A small insignificant team that nobody expects to win will help him find his game and give him more confidence.  Liverpool is just not a good fit for him right now.

OriginalChan said...

We're busy trimming the wage bill because of the mess that has been the last few years, which KK II played a part in. We have had one of the highest wage bills in football for a side that hasn't played CL football for a few seasons. Sooner or later, that (wage bill) was going to be cut down as we sure aren't playing CL football this season are we as we didn't finish top 4 last season under KK II

Igoe2005 said...

Why not change his position? BR did it to downing .. and we are lacking big cover for CB lol?

OriginalChan said...

The period of league form between January and the end of the season this year in May (I believe we were 17th in the 'second half of the PL season' table), we hardly did great in the league and he played quite a few games then. So no, I don't think his absence is possibly the reason why we are languishing in mid-table. Yes, we do need other sources of goals but he is hardly a reliable one. He has had a mere half-a-season of decent goalscoring form in a top tier league behind him (at Newcastle). Not much of a precedent. A decent performance now and then simply isn't good enough either to justify such faith in him, imo. Considering Rodgers is stubborn and reluctant to deviate away from plan A, I don't think Carroll would have been used much anyway, especially not as a starter. I want Rodgers to have a plan B but I don't want a player that only suits plan B, I want a player that can be effective in plan A and B. Carroll is not that kind of player, imo.

A lot of fans who go the games believe in him mate. I find a lot of people on the websites dont though. Some things you see live that ya dont see on a tv screen, or ya notice if you play the game. Growth would of been KD having a second full season. So Charlie Adam not worth keeping he got the most assists last season. I get where you're coming from and I support Rodgers, but I just don't see much sense in what has happened so far this season.

We are missing a trick here with Andy Carroll. The guy is going to become a great player.  Its a shame he is being treated with such disrespect by Rodgers and the training staff.   We dont need all 11 players to be tiki taka, Suarez loved playing alongside him last year.

If Andy Carroll was not loaned out we would have been floating around the top four mark FACT, (bar Injuries).

If we have achieved top 9 with 1 striker so far and have stuck to BR tika taka style throughout then what could we have achieved with a monster hungrey for respect.

His size and style unsettles defenders which makes him a threat, yes i know he is not the most technical footballer in the world but to be truthful he never was and does not have to be, just lok at the stoke team they probably have 2 at most technical players.

just get him in the box and play to his strenghs

It might come back and bite him in the hole but he is obviously prepared to take d risk and so would I, bye bye Mandy stay blowing bubbles..lol

Every team has there weaknesses from G/K to C/F, it's up to you who you think is a top player.

Kaka went to Madrid as a 'Top Player' never really worked out for him, there are no guarantees in football it is a squad game, we need different types of players to make a difference.

Mark Whitelaw said...

I worked with a guy form Newcastle who was heavily involved in coaching of kids' football teams. He has known Andy Carroll since he was a kid of 8 or 9 years old and watched his development over the years. He told me that he was gutted when he left and that, in his age group, AC was better than ANY other player he had in his team(s) and in the opposition teams.
I think his play was developed to take advantage of his height: high balls into the tallest player so he can win the header. The same was assumed of Peter Crouch with his height and is a common misconception that only tall players can be good at heading the ball (ask Man Utd about Messi's header in CL final!).

When he came on in the FA Cup final, he changed the game and Chelsea couldn't handle him. If he played consistently like that we'd be having £40m+ offers from the mega rich clubs instead of trying to flog him to the most desperate.

One more thing, for all those demented 'fans' who reckon we're not a 'big team' any more, have a look at this:

http://www.clubworldrankings.com/100.htm

PeteTong said...

For me Adam was shocking and with some decent refereeing you would have seen Adam have as many assists for the opposition as he did for Liverpool - the number of times he clumsily lunged in on opposing players in our penalty box - I remember at least 4 blatant penalties that we got away with. Glad Adam left. He was never the answer and I found that some fans who started comparing him to Alonso and "pulling" the strings in midfield just laughable.

Arnij said...

offer him in exchange deal vs Ba,, think we need someone like that to give us extra firepower

PeteTong said...

Spot on, I feel results wise the rot started in 2010 with the departure of Alonso although I think the writing was on the wall before that with the "thinning" of the squad due to several reasons probably, my guess is 1 of those was the financial constraints placed on the club by H&G and loan repayments. Another reason would be some of the purchases made by Rafa although if you look at the horrendous money we have wasted and the list of players we signed since 1990 through to present day it seems that we have been guilty of serious overspending on absolute tosh and it eventually has cost us dearly and there are a number of managers to blame for that.

Septimus_severus said...

So let me get this straight...if we still had Andy (10 appearances 1 goal at West ham) Carroll would in comparison to his tally last year for LFC 44 appearances 6 goals) would have scored enough to take us into the TOP FOUR?

Are you drunk or taking the urine ?

Soulshalize said...

Ur not thinking straight, he has the ability to unsettle defences, he does not need to score every week as long as he enables other team mates to score.

It's called being a threat!, giving defencies another problem to solve, having a plan B, with ur theory i wonder how we beat Everton in the Cup at wembley...OMG i forgot the big man scored.

I get what your saying in terms of it seems that BR is trying to show his "genius" too much. He keeps playing Henderson and especially Downing out of position. Maybe for those reasons and others we drop too many points and have yet to beat a quality win.

Liverpool are Red said...

Carrol is a good striker , Liverpool are desperately short of strikers . He provides Liverpool with an alternative option in games . Yep Kenny defintely overpaid for him , way overpaid , but Liverpool can still use him instead of given him away at a great loss . He is definetly better than both Borini and Allen .

Brendan Rodgers lacks any foresight . He contributed greatly to this debacle where Liverpool were left short of strikers . Liverpool should try and keep Carroll or at least get a better price than  17m pounds.

Regarding Brendan , he should be transferred out in the January window.

I would have the big lad back in a heartbeat! As for reds fans across the globe..... What nonsense! Carroll is a damn site better then Borini for goodness sakes (and shelvey, and Henderson etc).
