Sign him! LFC Hero urges BR to sign 'monstrous' £5m star with 30 goals/assists...

Liverpool have a meagre twelve points from eleven Premier League games so far this season, and although performances are generally good (and the team is unbeaten in the last six league games) the club needs to start picking up wins. Luis Suarez is keeping the Reds afloat at the moment, but another experienced striker is desperately needed in January, and Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has suggested one possible solution.

After the Chelsea game on Sunday, Hamann conceded that the team is 'short of quality', and warned that the club's rising young trio of Raheem Sterling, Suso and Wisdom are 'playing at their limit' and will 'need a break'.

For reinforcement, Hamann admitted that he 'wouldn't mind Theo Walcott', and for strikers, he suggested Darren Bent, and controversial Spurs star Emmanuel Adebayor. he said:

"If I could take one player and there might be a chance to it would be Adebayor.

"On his day he is monstrous, and he would get the love at LFC he needs.

"I would love to see him in a red shirt.

Adebayor - who joined Spurs for £5m - is an excellent player but his wage demands would probably price him out of a move to Liverpool.

Additionally, he'll be away for the African Nations Cup in January, which almost certainly rules out the possibility of any move.

Liverpool need someone ASAP, and signing someone who would then be gone for over a month would defeat the purpose. It's a shame, as Adebayor is a creative machine:

* Last season: 18 goals/12 assists in 37 appearances.
* Goal/assist every 1.2 games

With such an excellent return last season, it seems strange that Andre Villas Boas has basically ignored Adebayor this season, and I can totally understand why the Togo International is unhappy.

What more do you have to do to prove yourself?

  1. Well you always say players have to play based on merit and in the beginning of the season Defoe was scoring goals for fun while Ade wasn't there. Defoe's form has continued since so I absolutely understand why AVB has ignored him.

  2. What about being played on merit based on performance last season? He ended last season with 18 goals and 12 assists; surely that warranted inclusion in the team fro day 1 this season?

  3. Ade came to Spurs late, had no pre-season, so no match fitness. Thus, he was a sub his first couple games. He then got injured in training and was out several weeks. He then made a sub's appearance and got injured again. As he has worked toward fitness, he has started Spurs last two matches. So yes, AVB has ignored him.

  4. It's people like you writing this uneducated shit that make the Internet quite amusing. Have you ever watched a football game? Do you even know what the sport is? Ok let me explain, Adebayor had zero per-season being frozen out of the Man City squad, so he wasn't ready to play when the season started, he then suffered a hamstring injury, followed by a back injury and an illness which has kept him out, along with Defoe scoring 8 goals in all competitions already, then you may see why Ade hasn't played that much, and we are only 11 games in to the season.

  5. Interesting...during that very same season our man Defoe scored one less goal than Ade, but only appeared for 10-15 minutes during every other game (sometimes during periods where the team has decided to wind down the clock and thus not attack) - imagine what could have been if he played at least 30 mins during each and every game...just saying! COYS!

  6. Would rather have Llorente. Good goalscorer, cheap and a good technical player.

  7. Why did you delete my post? I'm sorry but if I wrote a article/blog without looking up any facts then I would fully expect, and take any backlash. Grow a pair for christs sake!! At least respond with why you have not taken mine, and other posters explanation regarding Adebayors lack of appearances?

  8. You can post whatever you want, but when you start hurling insults/derogatory comments, or being snide, your post will be deleted. If you want to make a point, do it in a civil manner, or don't bother posting at all. This site is for civil discussion; if you can't do that, go elsewhere.

Also, it's not a matter of 'facts'; I stated my opinion looking from the outside-in; even Spurs' assistant head coach Steffen Freund admitted the other day that Adebayor is 'unhappy'.

It doesn't matter how fairly you think he's been treated; the player himself is unhappy, irrespective of why, which is what I stated.

  9. Ade was unfit. That's why he wasn't starting from the off. Defoe was scoring for club and country so he was playing. Last season was last season.

  10. Adebayor is a diver and the evidence is all over the net

  13. Unhappy due to frustration at injuries and illness! He wants to play so when he gets INJURED he's naturally going to be unhappy. Who likes being injured?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ade spent the entire summer sorting out his contract wrangle with city, so he didn't get a pre season and when he eventually signed he was unfit. Then when the opportunity came for him to start in a less strenuous Europa league match he had a back injury, then he came back and by then Defoe was in great form. Then when another opportunity came to get some first team minutes in a not-so important game in the carling cup he got the flu. Since he's recovered he's made a sub appearance against Wigan and started against Maribor and City. AVB was even criticised for playing him instead of Defoe! Seems he can't win with the media. No way would we sell him to Liverpool, he's not unhappy with AVB and never has been. When Freund said Ade was unhappy it was because he'd missed the start of the season due to injury and wanted to be playing instead of being injured. Nothing against AVB or the Club.

  17. Just read that City want Suarez. God............... :(

The article also said that if they get him they could then offload Balotelli. Which got me thinking.

    Suarez or Balotelli?

There's only one way to find out! FIIIGHT!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ok? You state that Adebayor is a diver then start your next post with Suarez? Hypocritical at all? You also made no point to the fact you think Adebayor is a diver (does that mean you don't want him at your club? Do you admire his diving skills? Have you just not said anything in a while?) - it is completely unrelated to the topic of this post!

  19. Suarez is a fighter and wants to play week in week out. Mancy will probably rotate squad and he might be warming the bench and coming on as a sub from time to time.
    Not going to happen.

  20. If the Abu Arabs offer 50 mill he will go .
Then it really will be good nite for the reds.

  21. Huntelaar's agent said that he wants his future decided by January, and that he has offers from Italy, Spain and England and that he MIGHT stay in Schalke.
    He is going, right?
Agent also said that he is not to chase money, but titles-what are his options?
Barca and Real are not interestd, so Spain is out. Small chances that Italian trio is interested, so Italy is out. All current title contenders in England are reportedly interested in other platers so that leaves us with totenham and/or smaller teams.
So what we have to do is not fall apart till January and be around 6th(please do not tell me we can't do that). He would figure that with him we have a shot at cl spots- this year, and surely next and he knows that when in cl Liverpool has much more chances of winning it than spurs, regardless of team quality.
An if he is after money after all, well he is the cheapest proven goalscorer out there so give him wages...

Suarez is the King of Nutmeg!

Adebayor would be an impressive signing to say the least! Imagine the two of them with their controversy...

    Awesome!

  23. Anyone for Zlatan Ibrahimovic .... horrible person, fantastic player .... I would take him on for 1-2 years, he would feel closer to God as well if he would get LFC back in Champions League. Come on Ibra, take the challenge, don't go just for the f..... money. Get a real challenge !!

  24. I'd rather we get relegated...

  25. you are only as good as your last performance not your last season. A team should always be your best possible 11 at the time you are picking the team. Successive managers fail to do this including IMO KD last season and BR this season. If Defoe has shown in training he is playing to his limit and demonstrates this when given the opportunity then he is the form player and therefore definately deserves his place on mertit. As for LFC and Adebayor I would say never. He is a player who plays well for 2 games and is awful for the next six. He appears to be sulky, unrealistic with his wage demands and thinks he is far better than he actually is

    ReplyDelete
  26. To be honest I think LFC are paying the price for their snobbish attitude to buying strikers. When we had Torres life was good, we didn't hav the forsight that most top 4 clubs have that is to have atleast 4 top class strikers in the squad. When Defoe was at Portsmouth, after been deemed surplus at Spurs we had the chance to sign him. Then "He wasn't good enough the type LFC need" thats what all the ex-LFC players said. We said te same about Daren Bent-Lone Wolf, can't play in a passing side, Jelavich the list goes on.
Ironically wecan't even buy a goal now. Adebayor will never come to LFC, he's too much of a mercenary. The truth is we need to look for someone who has his physical attributes-big, strong, quick, good close control with an eye for a goal. Yet LFC have been so slow into tapping into the Afro-French/African talent with excuses about the African Cup of Nations-yt we see the likes of Cisse/Ba/Benteke/Lakaku/Odemwinge/Vic Moses making instant impact. Those who refer to Andy Carrol-he is neither quick, has the control or the necessary eye for goal.

Our quality of scouting is so poor it's unbelievable!!! Now I hear we want to buy back Tom Ince- dear oh dear oh dear!

  27. The reason i Brought up Adebayor diving is because I was under the impression that a lot of poeple here were completely against diving but now want Adebayor to sign. Is that not hypocrisy? Diving almost only has negative connotations so why would I bring up Adebayors diving if it was in praise? Surely you could have worked that out on your own

  30. Well its up to owners now to back B Rodgers heavily with £86M in JANUARY to bring 5 attacking players of Suarez and Gerrards calibre and 2 defensive players to change side from top 7-18 side we have been over last three seasons and back to top 1 -4 side in premiership. And to match Suarez's and us loyal fans ambitions. And These 5/Five Attacking players: 1 and 2: are two Brazilian players who play for Shakhtar Donesk : L Adriano(25) FD and Willian(24) RW/RWF both players should be brought to club for combined total of £40M Adriano(£14-£16M) Willian(£21-£24M) 3 and 4: are two Spanish players who play for A Bilbao: I Munian (19) AM and F llorente(27) FD should both be brought to club for combined total of £24M Llorente (£5-£7M) Munian (£14-£17M) 5: B Arfa(25) LW/LWF Of Newcastle should brought to club in swap deal with A Carroll and £10M. And these 2/Two defensive players: 6: B Matuidi(25) Of PSG should be brought to club to compete and cover Lucas for £10-£14M DM 7: Marc Andre Ter Stegen Of Borussia Mönchengladbach Or J Butland Of Birmingham should be brought to club for £4-£7M to compete and cover PEPE in order to give him some quality competition for the No1 GK position at club, Those 7 players would change dimension of side. And in L Adriano, B Arfa, F Llorente, I Munian and Willian , Suarez and Gerrard would have players of the same attacking calibre and quality at club and the likes of Assaidi, Suso, Sterling and Yesil would only get better and better learning, playing and training with these world class players.

  31. Llorente's contract is up in the summer, so we could sign him in January for £5-£7M .

    ReplyDelete
  32. Which part, please? Was Liverpool in top 5 teams in Europe back in 2005? Barca with Ronaldinho, one of the greatest Milan ever, and so on... When you are in cl with Liverpool, you are privileged, with Tottenham, just lucky...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Llorente has not re signed any contract and his contract is up in the summer, so if B Rodgers offered £5-£7M in January i am sure they could land him. But the other 6 plsyers i mentioned earlier are priority also in order for our club to get back amongst the top 1-4 and to challenge the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle for 3rd and 4th in the league.

  34. You do realise there are other clubs (like Juve), in line for him, he can't be that cheap... and Shaktar ain't selling..

  35. Some ones been playing too much football manager would to klass come to us or llorente. Really hope we don't bring in Sturridge at all don't think he is good enough and is far to arrogant

  36. You do realise there are other clubs (like Juve), in line for him, he can't be that cheap... would like to believe you, than our January would be easy...

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've been saying we should take a punt on him for the last 3 seasons. Not because I particularly like him, just because wherever he goes, they win the League. That alone would be worth his wages.

    And THAT goal yesterday......

    Hahahahahahahahahahahah

    ReplyDelete
  38. Also he fought(literally) with teammates wherever he went... also Juve and Milan were buying pionts at the time. And he believe he is bigger than the club he plays in, whichever club he is in... No thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You are more likely to than sign him

    ReplyDelete
  40. 2005 is history, if his agent said he is looking for titles not money then why would he sign for Liverpool? He is more likely to win things with about 20 other teams! Liverpool are crap.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dream on I would be surprised to see even £20m being invested. Liverpool's business model is going to be like Arsenal's if you can't see that yet you are blind. They tried the invest massive money under Kenny it was wasted and there is no more where that came from.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have to laugh at the blind optimism displayed here. Liverpool are not going to get ANY world class players. The only reason they got Suarez was that they paid top money and no other club were interested. The only signings they will make now are going to be very cheap or young prospects as the board don't want to sign older players (Dempsey the prime example). They only want to sign players that don't cost a lot and have potential resale value. Neither Llorente or Hunterlaar fit the bill even if they both suffered brain damage and were willing to sign.

    ReplyDelete
  43. That's one of our biggest problems at the club, for many years some of the best talent in football our club has spotted stars and been linked with them and then by time we actually act on it, player has become world class and been around and all the vultures are on them: We were linked with Villa, Silva, Mata 4-5 years ago and look where they have ended up. We have been linked with Llorente, Munian and Willian Of Shakhtar for Two and a half seasons now. Yet we have still not put a concrete bid in for any of them. And now their all world news and wanted by everyone. At end of day, Torres left the club as he apart from Gerrard, Alonso, Agger, Reina, Aquilani and Mascherano there weren't enough players at their level and the owners said one thing and did another. And i hope and pray the owners back B Rodgers heavily soon as we need to compete with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham for 2 spot in league. 3rd and 4th Position and all those sides have superior squads in class, quality and depth at moment.

    ReplyDelete
  44. If his contract is up in the summer and he has not signed a new contract and their coach made him train and play with the reserves for a few months during start of season. Do you think Llorente will change his mind and sign a new contract now? He is available, we have been linked with him for two years and a half now, if we really want him we should not be faffing about and get the deal sorted.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jakey, I do not play fantasy football. Its just simple and honest truth, Our club has needed a massive overhaul of players for four seasons now and needed huge investment in club. And over the years alot of dead wood players who benitez brought or had at club have been removed, the problem our club has had over the years is it seems no matter what manager we have. Out of 7 signings the manager makes, only one or two of them end up being a success. The others are duds or average/waste of money. And the fact is we have 7 world class players at our club: Reina, Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez and Skrtel.

And 5 of them are defensive minded players.

did Tottenham get to where they are now without heavy investment in their side? Chelsea finished 6th last year spending £120M but won Champions League. Yet they still spent £90+ M this summer and plan to spend £50M on Falcao in January.

Our cub needs some serious investment in the playing staff at club, but we need club to buy right players of right calibre, players who will be of same level as Gerrard and Suarez in attack.

K Dalglish overspent heavily on 4 average players in season and half: Adams £9M, Carroll £35M , Downing £20M and Henderson £18M, thats £82M pounds.

But club brought in £80M + on player sales in season and half(Torres,Babel, Bennayoun, Meireles, Koncheskey,Poulsen and Ngog)

So the owners need to stop making excuses , why they should not spend. In our day and age, if you don't spend heavily and brin g in the best quality to your club you slip down ladder. The only manager to do that well , is Arsene wenger but he never wins anything anymore. He has Arsenal punching above their weight , as to finish in top 4 every year has been an achievement for them in itself.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The owners gave K Dalglish £115M to spend on players in season and a half, but club brought back in £80m+ on player sales( Torres,Babel, Bennayoun, Poulsen,Koncheskey, Meireless and Ngog) So owners should stop with that we backed last manager malarchy. Our club needs some serious investment in our playing staff at club to get back to top its simple. All the best clubs in world know to get where they are today have had to spend millions over last three seasons to get to where they are today: Barcelona must have spent £250M in last three seasons, Real Madrid £300M plus in last three seasons, Bayern Munich £250M plus in last three seasons, PSG £250M plus, Man City £300m + in last three seasons, Chelsea £280m+ in last three seasons.

In our day and age if you don't spend well, wisely and try to bring better players to your club. The best players don't come.

    Its that simple and honest.

The Owners need to back him heavily, he cleared out 8 players off wage bill in summer: Adams, Aquilani, Aurelio, Bellamy,Carroll, Spearing, Kuyt, Rodriguez.

And 5 of those players were 40% of clubs goals last season and we struggled to score goals last year also.

So Owners should back B Rodgers heavily. And hopefully they match Suarez and most of us fans ambitions, don't know why we are being linked with serious moves for the likes of Traore of Anzhi, Sturridge Of Chelsea , Walcott Of Arsenal , Eriksen Of Ajax and Tello Of Barcelona.

When these five attacking players are much better and would change dimension of side.

1 and 2: The two Brazilians of Shakhtar Donesk: L Adriano (25) FD and Willian (24) RW / RWF both should be brought to club for combined total of £40M.

3: B Arfa(25) Of Newcastle should be brought to club in swap deal with A Carroll and £10M. LW / LWF

4 and 5 are Two Spanish players who play for A Bilbao: I Munian (19) and F Llorente (27) should both be brought for combined total of £24M.

L Adriano, B Arfa, F Llorente, I Munian and Willian are five players of the same class and calibre of Gerrard and Suarez. And those five players could be brought to club for £65m.

£17M cheaper than Dalglish spent on Adams, Carroll, Henderson and Downing. But that may be their wages over years, The huge difference is these players are class and world class and are better than what we have at club and would bring quality competition, depth, hunger and Success to side.

The best attacking players in world have always been either African,Belgium,German, Dutch, French, Portugesse, Spanish, Swedish or From South America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay Or Paraguay.

And those five players mentioned: Two Brazilians, Two Spanish and A French player will change attacking dimension at Anfield if they were brought to club. And the likes of Assaidi, Sterling, Suso and Yesil would develop even more with attacking players of that quality at club.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't know what the owners were or are playing at but if our club is to seriously compete with the Two Manchester Clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham for Champions League place. Then some serious investment is needed in playing staff , end of story. And we can still entice World class players to club , with Gerrard still at club and Suarez on fire. If owners back B Rodgers heavily in transfer windows, we could bring world class players to club. With Lucas being good friends with Willian and being Brazilian, if club wanted both Willian and L Adriano. If Rodgers was backed , i am sure both players would ply their trade at Anfield. Both would be successes, as Both have two traits that is asset in premiership Pace/Speed and natural class and Skill.
