Sacked! Ruthless FSG fire two more high-profile LFC employees. Dalglish next...?

FSG have shown their ruthless side once again and fired another two high-profile members of Liverpool FC's staff.

After the recent sackings of Damien Comolli and Peter Bruckner, two high-flying LFC executives have been now been dumped.

The newest employees to join the Anfield scrapheap are:

* Jean Crisp, the head of customer experience

* Stephen Turner, head of international soccer schools.

Both were part of the commercial team led by the recently departed Graham Bartlett. I contacted the LFC press office, but the club declined to comment.

Comolli and Bruckner were fired just days before the FA Cup semi-final with Everton, and with the FA Cup final just days away, there's something very familiar about the timing of these sackings.

It seems like FSG are on a cost-cutting crusade at the moment; only last week, the weekly version of LFC Magazine was scrapped, and many LFC staff members will be nervously looking over their shoulders right now, including Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish.

As I've argued all season, I would hate to see a legend like Dalglish sacked, but FSG have proved in the past that they have no compunction about getting rid of under-performing managers.

If Liverpool fail to win the FA Cup this Saturday, Dalglish will be under severe pressure, and after this season's catastrophic premier league performance - symbolised by last night's horrible performance against Fulham - he'll have no one to blame but himself.

  1. bubbles you sum it all...kenny has to go cause he was given a lot of money and he bought awful players i wonder if it was rafa he would go for talent and quality and not nationality like kenny did...how can a manager get rid of a player like mirales and rely on adam....we all love and resepect kenny but lets be honest to ourselves that kenny is not the right man to manage the club...we need a rafa type of a manager..

  2. Agree. I didn't want him to come back, but hoped he'd do OK once appointed. He hasn't

  3. The fair play rules make it all the more important that the money spent was used well. Henderson? Carroll? Downing? Adam?

The first two may eventually make OK players (but never worth the spend on them). Downing and Adam - £28m in total and their resale value would now probably be no more than half that

  4. I think the problem is with the quality of our players, I cant imagine the likes of Spearing, Kelly, Downing, Carol, Adam or even Enrique play in a competition like CL, its OK for them to play for teems like fulham WBA wigan sunderland wolves etc (with all my respect to these fighting teems), but to compete for a CL place!! i can't imagine that at all,

it was a big mistake to sign carol, downing and henderson for such a price, about 70m for these 3 players oh my god!!! we could have for this price Aguero, Kaka and van der vart,

i don't see any harm playing sterling, shelvey, cody, soso, robinson and flanagan for the remaining matches in the league, KD should done that 3-4 matches ago

  5. I agree with you Mal, but for the real quality players, we're not an attractive option anymore.

We did over pay for Downing, but we didn't really have an out and out winger before he joined us, so he's a step in the right direction and on a good day he's not bad. Unfortunately he doesn't have too many good days.

As for Adam, with Lucas in the hole behind him, he's a decent attacking midfielder, but without Lucas, he's dreadful.

Henderson has got to grow a pair and stop hiding in the big games, then maybe he'll start showing some potential.

And someone needs to show Carrol where the 6 yard box is and how to play off the shoulder of the last defender.

Reading the press, I think it could be a busy transfer window, but I doubt we'll sign any really big names. Maybe a proven player or two, I have a suspicion Darren Bent will be seriously linked with us again.

All we can do is hope we sign the players that turn out like Xabi Alonson did, and that we can hang onto the decent players we already have.

Good luck to the boys tomorrow.

  6. Here here, the point is although the season as been disappointing, our football has been better and with the right one or two players added (and some hoofed out) next season will see us challenging again. We've managed to play without Gerrard for big chunks of the season, which is a miracle in itself compaired to the last few years. We've dominated games and have hit the woodwork more than any other team by quite a margin. If we can start converting these to goals next season then happy days.

It is frustrating at the moment, but I'm sure better days aren't that far off. Let's face it, less than 2 years ago we were nearly out of business or looking at going through what Rangers are going through now.

And also, let's face it, the big 4 is now the 6 (if you include us) so the competition is stiffer too.

On that basis, yeah eighth is poor for us, but I'll take it with one, possibly two cups, this season. Next season will be better.

  9. RAFA WAS NEVER GIVEN THE FINANCES CORRECTLY IN MY VIEW AS I SAW IT HE HAD TO SELL A PLAYER FOR A HIGHISH PRICE AND BRING IN MAYBE 2 OR 3 PLAYERS FOR THAT AMOUNT WHICH WERE NOT UPTO THE STANDARD OF THE PLAYER HE HAD SOLD, THEREFORE ALTHOUGH A LOT OF PEOPLE SLATE HIM FOR BUYING BELOW STANDARD PLAYERS IT WAS DUE TO KEEPING A FULL SQUAD AND SACRIFICNG QUALITY TO MAINTAIN THAT SQUAD, SORRY IF YOU DONT LIKE MY OPINION BUT THATS HOW I SAW IT AND I'M SURE THAT HAD RAFA OR EVEN ROY HAD THE KIND OF MONEY THAT KENNY HAS HAD THEY WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER.
