Luis Suarez stabs Liverpool FC in the back once again...

How many times in one year can Luis Suarez bite the hand that feeds him? The striker's behaviour over the last year has regularly bought the club into disrepute, and only hours after Kenny Dalglish was sacked, the Uruguayan crassly admitted in public that he 'dreams' of playing in La Liga.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca, Suarez - who recently stated that he would happily cheat if it meant Liverpool gained an advantage - said:

"I hope to play in Spain in the future because I think together with the English and Italian it [La Liga] is the best league in the world and any player would dream of playing in it"

Was it really wise for Suarez to say things like this on such a momentous day for the club? Would it have hurt him to stay silent on his future for a few days? After all the support Liverpool FC has given him, should he really be professing his love for other leagues in public?

Clearly, Suarez has no feeling for the man who put his career and reputation on the line to defend him during the Patrice Evra debacle, but this was obvious months ago.

Given the precarious situation at Liverpool right now, Suarez's comments will undoubtedly alert La Liga's top clubs, and the likes Barcelona and Real Madrid will now feel that they have a good chance of poaching the striker.

Liverpool fans might as well face it: Suarez is on the outs at Liverpool, and he will be gone sooner rather than later.

A few weeks ago, I argued that Suarez should be sacked or sold for this statement he gave to The S*n:

"The sacrifice I made [against Ghana] was because it was so important for Uruguay to make the semi-finals. I want to win this semi-final. If I am obliged to stop a ball in the last minute and we win, then I will repeat the action. Success for Liverpool is more important to me than anything else. But I do hope there is no drama like this for me."

My feelings haven't changed: the sooner Suarez follows Kenny Dalglish out of Anfield, the better.

EDIT: Predictably, Suarez's disciples refuse to accept that the interview was conducted on the same day as Dalglish's sacking. Well, here is the proof:

Luis Suarez Interview

As you can see:

* 15th May: Suarez says he'll answer questions tomorrow (i.e. 16th May)
* 16th May: Suarez says 'I'm going to answer your Tweets right now'
* @MarcainEnglish = Marca's twitter feed.
* The interview was conducted by Marca.
* The Marca interview was published at 7.51pm yesterday:
* Ergo, Suarez did the interview on the 16th May, the day of Dalglish's sacking.

I'm sure now I'll be accused of photoshopping the timestamps on Suarez's Twitter feed :-)

  3. Your too sensetive mate - anyway lets see who the new manager is now - maybe Souness will sort him out - or even Thomo. P S Kennys health would have suffered if he had stayed on and we do not want that

  4. Souness back at Anfield. Can you imagine the shitstorm if that happened (!)

  5. Is it not nice for a man to have dreams and ambitions? I played for Ajax,Liverpool and Barcelona {maybe}.

  7. The debt that Suarez owed to Liverpool is rightly ended in the istanct Kenny Dalglish was relieved for his duties. Kenny was a mentor for him and a father, Who protected him under the storm. There's no reason for him to stay quiet frankly, and knowing AVB and his record with outstanding players and champions like Drogba, I think that Suarez fears to remain out from first team football at Livepool. No, after Kenny's departure I can't be surprise to see Suarez go.

  8. Every player dreams to play for RM or Barca. What's wrong with having an ambition. If Liverpool gets back in CHL than I'm sure he'll stay for few more years. Ronaldo won almost everything at MU but still went.

  10. Its not the first time that a player stabbed us in the back, I was actually hurt when Torres did a similar thing but not this time,If Suarez wants to go and we get 40 ml plus then it would be a good deal, we should get someone like Falcao or Cavani with that money . I am more concerned about who will replace Dalglish than any of our players wanting to leave .

  11. Bekim - is revealing that dream on the day your manager is sacked the best way to behave?

  12. So you still think handling a ball that would go in, getting sent off for it, a penalty against (all written in the rulebook, mind you) is cheating? Did he deceive anyone? Did he try to con the ref? What is the difference between handling a ball to avoid a goal and holding a player clean through on goal? Aren't they both committing a foul to avoid a goal? Aren't all players trying to avoid goals, even if it means committing a foul for the benefit of the team?
Who on earth would watch a ball go in over the line in overtime on a quarterfinal of a world cup match AND DO NOTHING? I mean, there is you, the ball, the line and there's nothing you can do to avoid the goal without committing a penalty and getting sent off and you would chose NOT to give your team a chance to win it? You would just say "Oh, it's fair that the ball go in." Just like next time Messi goes through another defender he might as well think "He's deserves that, I can foul such a marvelous player and destroy this wonderful play. Oh, and poor ref that'll have to book me or send me off. It's so unfair to him too."
Grow up, mate. Update your perspective. For me, cheating is coning the ref. Is doing something to appear as something else in order to get away with something wrong you did. For me, every player that knows that the ball touched him before go out for a throw-in AND STILL raises his hand asking for the ball is a cheater. This is coning, he's trying to get away with it, he's trying to get and advantage without being penalized. Just like holding player on the box during corners, diving to get fouls, acting up after a foul to aggravate it and get the opposition player booked. These are acts of a cheater. Not committing a foul, described in the rulebook, not trying to get away with it and being penalized correctly.
And if he does it for Liverpool, thank you, Suarez! When Phil Neville did it to avoid Lucas goal was that cheating? Of course not. No one said it was. Do you know why? Because he was sent off and Liverpool got a penalty out of it. The only difference is that Kuyt scored, so who cares, and the Ghanaian (forgot his name) didn't. If he head scored, no one would care.
But, I mean, do go on with your crusade against our best player by a mile. A player with a heart, that plays his maximum in every game. I do agree with you that he crosses a line sometimes, I don't agree with all his antics. But to hunt that our own team like you're doing, and did with Rafa before, goes so much more against everything that Liverpool stands for than anything Suarez can ever do. But I guess you'll never get that. AND I'm probably too dumb to get it too.
    cheers

  13. sorry, mate, but you being annoyed with him because he handballed on the line in the last minute of the world cup quarter finals is a bullshit reason. I'd do the same, you would do the same! I'd do it all day long and I'd do it again and again until they sold me to a rugby club. Anyone who wouldn't is a liar or a moron. It's the last minute in the world cup quarter finals for God's sake. It shows he wants to win. As for the spain comments it's not great timing at all but now's not the time for the fan's to be ostracising anyone. Now's the time to rally round and give a massive cheer for the mighty red men.

  15. Isn't this an old story? Seem to recall that Suarez 'dreams of playing in La Liga for Barcelona' came out whe. He was serving his 8 match ban and the press were stirring it that he wants out cos of the way he had been treated by the FA. Lazy journalism again by vultures circling. The king is gone long live the king. YNWA

  17. Jamie you really need to get a grip mate he was asked if he would like to play in the spanish league one day and he said "along with the Italian and English leagues they are the best in the world of course he would say yes, get of his back mate who wouldn't want to play there and in England? he was asked a question the interview was probably booked before KK had been sacked there is nothing in it and you my friend are becoming annoying you need to leave certain little things alone.

  19. is the point you are trying to make that it might be better to wait until the new manager is appointed and then to make his dream public? Or you would just allow him to do it only until the appointment? And how manu days excatly after the sacking would you make happy? It is obvious: you have an agenda to get Suarez out of the club and yu will succeed, the same way you didi with Dalglish.

  20. absolute spot on mate, get guardiola if possible, if not brendon rodgers will do ! its high time Liverpool play, act and be like champs  again.

  21. Dear God give it a rest mate. First the ludicrous blog about Suarez saying he would "cheat" when all he said was that he'd get himself sent off, the ultimate sacrifice, to serve LFC's best interest and now this. So what if his ambition is to play in La Liga as well? How many players stay with one club their entire career? Were Keegan and Rush players who were not loyal to LFC? You can't fault Suarez's dedication and work ethic on the pitch which shows you that right now and when he's on the pitch LFC is all he cares about. If a club like Barca or Real comes along, who can fault a guy for being tempted or even moving? Put on a different record for crying out loud

  26.  You're calling Suarez all these names because of something you read in a Spanish newspaper? Do you have any common sense?

    Do you even speak Spanish?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes, Dalglish being sacked was down to me (!)

Suarez has caused major damage to LFC - of course I would prefer it if he went and did it somewhere else.  I support LFC, not Suarez FC or Dalglish FC, and when it comes to the best interests of LFC, its better that both Dalglish and Suarez are not at the club.

    ReplyDelete
  28. But you're writing about our Liverpool it's our right to step-in when our players are being slandered.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Maybe not. But few weeks ago he did say that if KD goes than he will consider his future. He might still b a Liverpool player once we know who's the new mngr. and if he decides to go than at least we know that the club will get more money than we paid for. Lfc were stabbed in the back b4 by two players who were born in Liverpool and the club got nothing. Mc Manaman went for nothing to RM and M Owen for 8 million when at the time he was valued at around 25 million.

    ReplyDelete
  30. What are you on about? What 'names' have I called Suarez?  Stop making things up.

    A couple of things:

    * The interview with Suarez was conducted on his personal twitter page.

    * Yes, I do speak Spanish.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jeez, with respect, you seriously need to get a grip. Suarez is not your friend; He's not your brother; he doesn't even know you exist. Yet you lavish affection on him like he's some kind of blood relation.  How has Suarez been slandered?  He admitted IN PUBLIC that he would handball on the line if it meant LFC gained an advantage.  Now, on the day KD was sacked, he stated that he's love to play in Spain.  What does it take for fans to actually stop worshipping at his altar like subservient disciples and see the reality?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rafa's football boring. U might find out that in 2009 we scored more goals than MU who won the league that season. Brendan Rogers r u serious. Can u c him attracting top foreign players. FSG have to get this decision spot on or we will become like Chelsea sacking mngrs every season.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jaimie, do you ever give up bloody moaning? I often wonder why you bother to pretend to be an LFC supporter

    ReplyDelete
  34. If you were the one, what would you do? What would you do if you were hated and accused, labeled and branded with all things wrong in a team? How would you feel if you were told that innocent people lost their livelihoods because of something you said or did?

I would have been surprised if Suarez had said he's loving life at Anfield and want to stay forever.  FSG have only succeeded in jeopardizing the work, the unity, and sense of purpose and camaraderie King kenny had built over the last 16 months!!!

It's gonna get worse before it ever gets better; that is if it ever gets better!!!!

    So so sad!!!

  35. You, like so many others, *still* do not understand the aim of this site. It was set up to provide a critical view of LFC, hence the regular critiques of the club. After six years online, people still don't get this? As I say to everyone who moans: if you don't like this site, leave. There are plenty of other sites to visit.

  41. Answer the question Jamie, Would you have let Ghana score knowing you could make a sacrifice for your team which might prevent it and knowing your countrymen would see you had let the team lose??  If you would have not done what Suarez did how could you have lived with yourself?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would never cheat to gain an advantage, no. I've played football at youth level and would never handball on the line to stop another team scoring. I wouldn't care what my team-mates thought; if they ostracised me for refusing to play the game fairly then so be it. I would live with myself quite happily; OI wouldn't give it a second thought. Fair play is all that matters; giving in and cheating like the rest of the world is the easy way out.

  50. NEVER A TRUE WORD SAID...FABIO.................YOUR FAB....  VERY CONSTRUCTIVE AND FACTUAL.

I don't think Mr kanwar can grasp these situation's, he's usually banging on about Andy Carroll being a crap footballer ( he's that crap he's been called up 4 ENGLAND ).

Just to add to that Phill Neville piece, he then made a statement in the Liverpool Echo the next day, and I quote, WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO, LET THE BALL GO IN FOR A GOAL........IT WAS A REACTION....AND REINA MIGHT NOT HAVE SAVED IT. he was right.

I think Luis Suarez is hilarious, in the world cup I don't think I have laughed so much with Luey's handball and what followed.

LS was probably out of order in his timing, but hey, that's what you get from him and we also know that in a drop of a hat
he'd be....off to Barca like a Nagasaki Greyhound out the trap......

The days of player loyalty went out the window in the 70's and 80's. and why should he have so much loyalty to this country anyway, ( he's a foreign footballer who has a work contract to play footy in this county that's all,  if I as a Englishman played footy in mexico under contract and Barca said to me hey Paul do you fancy playing for us I think I'd seriously think about it for 3 seconds and say....go ed then...., do you get my point...I'm not mexican you see so my loyalty wanes a bit, just like most peoples.

Let's just enjoy and buzz off the most exciting striker in the prem while we can.

THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING.

PS, he can take Downing, Henderson, Spearing, Adam, and Shelvey with him,...... would they get in the sides of Man u, Man c, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs,...... even Newcastle and Everton have a better midfield than us......seriously!.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I think you're a closet ManU fan Jaimie.  You're as bad as the red tops, taking the worst possible meaning any quote you can find.

    ReplyDelete
  78.  Jamie you say this site is a critique of all things Liverpool, WHY, what compels this site to just criticize LFC.
I read what this site says and i must admit most of it makes my blood boil, its as if all this site bangs on about is negative sides of the club, never any positives.
If this site wishes to criticize then it should also be balanced and praise the club, players staff when it is due.
I cannot see what this site wants from Liverpool, some sort of utopia, well the world is not like that.
The site needs to lighten up at the moment all it is doing is dredging up any remotely negative story and turning it into a maelstrom.

Suarez will probably leave in the summer, depending on who comes in to manage and if a bid comes in from a suitable team,  i would replace him, but only for football reasons, not the things this site bangs on about. His football is sometimes sublime but his conversion rate to chances is poor, thats the reason i would sell if a descent fee came in

Come on Liverpool-kop lets see a positive story for once.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Everyone has their opinion and a right to air them. Jamie has his, as everyone on this forum has theirs.
The problem is the media. They are asking the questions of Suarez and he is answering. He is from another country where the culture is significantly different to ours, so sometimes, when questions are asked...the answers are taken out of context (the Evra case and Negrito comment ring a bell?)
Lets see what happens over the summer. It's going to be a very important period for FSG and Liverpool and the decisions need to be correct.
I personally think FSG would sanction a Suarez sale if the right price came in due to the debacle with Evra which affected the Liverpool brand worldwide.
Whatever happens, I'm sure as people who love sport FSG will do the right thing for them as a business and for Liverpool as a club. We're all singing off the same hymn sheet here. They want success as much as we do and they have to make the tough decisions.

Agreed Alan, the papers need something to write about, particularly in the off season.  If any big player at any club so much as looks as if he's enjoying a plate of paella, he is a "want away player, courting Barcelona" by the next morning.  I'm just surprised when supporters want to join the circus.

Face facts if a player openly talks about playing in another league it means if wants to go. Its that simple. He has done a torres.

    ReplyDelete
  92. According to Hansen we are in danger of losing our top players because of Kenny's sacking:

players to reconsider their futures at Anfield.
"Until the last couple of days, I do not think anyone saw this coming
because there was a feeling that Kenny had done enough to earn another
    year,"

"If the owners had backed him and allowed him to bring in a couple of
players in, then Kenny would have been confident in being able to
    progress the team.

"But my concern is that Liverpool will face a problem in keeping hold
of their best players now that Kenny has gone. In my opinion, the likes
of Luis Suárez, Pepe Reina, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger would be
more likely to stay at the club under Kenny Dalglish than anybody else.

"Throughout last season, it was clear that the players were 100 per
cent behind Kenny and, when a manager goes, it always leads to
    uncertainty and confusion."

Andre Villas-Boas, the former Chelsea manager, Jürgen Klopp of
Borussia Dortmund and Marseille's Didier Deschamps have all been linked
to the role and FSG acknowledged that the search for a new manager would
    begin immediately.

"The owners now have to quickly find a new man and go about
identifying new players and keeping those already there because the new
season is only 10 weeks away," said Hansen.

"In making the change, Liverpool's owners have set the bar high for
whoever comes in by making it clear that they are determined to get the
club back into the Champions League.

"Kenny has a trophy this season and finished eighth, so what will
happen in 12 months' time if the new man finishes seventh and wins
    nothing?"

FSG are expected to make significant funds available for the new
manager but the club face considerable costs for removing Dalglish after
only 16 months in charge. Steve Clarke, Dalglish's assistant, has also
left the club and Liverpool are now without a manager, assistant
manager, director of football, head of sports science and head of
communications, following the departures of Damien Comolli, Dr Peter
Brukner and Ian Cotton from Anfield in recent weeks.

"Liverpool are now looking for their fourth manager in two years,
with Kenny following Roy Hodgson and Rafael Benítez in leaving the club,
so they have to be careful," added Hansen.

"If you are looking for stability, then you cannot find that by changing key personnel on a regular basis.

"Kenny will regret not getting the club back into the Champions
League, but when he reflects on his second spell as manager, he will
look back on a time when he steadied the ship and brought success back
by ending their long wait for a trophy."

A sad day for Liverpool remember 16/05/12 the day a club lost its way.

  94. I never post on these things, but this 'critique' (to use your phrase) is the final straw. No-one is saying you shouldn't have an opinion, but the very fact is that every article you write seems to be negative.
You don't like Suarez, you didn't like Kenny or Rafa, you'll probably be complaining about the new man soon! I can't understand why everything you write about has to be negative - it's not far off tabloid sensationalism itself - 'Suarez stabs Liverpool in the back'? The lad's done an interview in with a spanish paper where one of the questions is asking him if he might quite like to play in their country IN THE FUTURE. He gives an honest opinion (along with some other positive quotes which you very selectively choose to ignore) and you slaughter him.
No-one is saying you can't be constructively critical, but you just sound like someone who enjoys complaining and being annoyed with something more than enjoying supporting this great club of ours.

Your post shouldn't have read 'Suarez stabs Liverpool in the back once again'. In MY opinion it should have read 'Attention-seeking tabloid blogger picks on someone at Liverpool - once again'.

Hopefully you allow this to be posted and allow some balance, but I shan't hold my breath.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Jamie, what on earth are you on about, get rid of Kenny, get rid of suarez, why dont we just go into administration?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Who is this joker? Thinks suarez should be sacked for saying he would do anything to win for Liverpool!! Give Luis the keys to the city I say!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Well to all those who wanted kenny out and rafA back enjoy avb won't you. He's already met owners two weeks ago in Boston .

    ReplyDelete
  98. Agree with u on the last season. But b4 that we played some the best football I've seen us for long time. In his final season he had to deal with other problems too. Look at Valencia since he left and look at Liverpool since he left too.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Could you get any more tenuous? I have attacked what Suarez said: that is attacking argument, not the person.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Would you do a tackle in the box though? Or tackle a player who runs away for vis-a-vis with your keeper?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well, Jamie clearly doesn't have a clue about how the media works - this interview could be weeks or days old, and they just decided to publish it right after the tragic sacking of KK. This is about the most common thing in journalism, keeping the stories for some time. Where is the proof Jamie, that this interview actually took place the day you are telling it did. Where is the links to the actal story, to the spanish you have translated this from - or did you not translate it yourself? Most likely not and most likely the meaning of what he said have been different from what you have described. You are highly biased, don't have and show credible sources and is very selective in what parts of interviews you are copying. Jamie Kanwar equals storyteller

    ReplyDelete
  102. In that interview he also stated "*but I have a contract with Liverpool and I am happy here*"........

    ReplyDelete
  103. Before you make an even bigger fool of yourself, perhaps you should so some research. The interview was conducted on Suarez's twitter feed yesterday, and the timestamps say '16th May'. Unless, of course, you think they've been tampered with?

    ReplyDelete

  105. Redderthebetter10:30 am, May 17, 2012

I think this article is a badly timed distraction on a not so serious matter, so what if he has ambitions to play in Spain, from a pro footballers perspective whats not to like, better weather less tax and a better chance of winning the league with realistically only 2 teams challenging, The point is this is a non story compared with the bigger issues of who will manage LFC. Stop stirring JK and lets focus on the real issues. oh and if possible let's hear something positive and kindly do not moderate this comment as there is nothing wrong with opinions that do not agree with your own.

    ReplyDelete
  106. are you sure he said this today after daglish left.... or maybe sometime ago and it was just reported today

    ReplyDelete
  107. Good lord JK, what' with you?
Here is a full "proper", non "google translate" of the interview.
The last paragraph is the one to take note of.

The Marca.com article is constructed from bits and bobs of a twitter chat with fans, not really an interview.
It is the most decent article and nothing said by Luis that can be taken in the way you portray or slander him with a "back stabber" TITLE ?  enough already.

The Uruguayan player Luis Suarez (Liverpool) was chatting with MARCA.com readers via Twitter.
"I hope to play in Spain in the future because I think together with the English and Italian they are the best leagues in the world and any player would dream of playing in it", assured the player from Salto, Uruguay.

In addition, Suarez admits that his two references are precisely Spanish footballers "Iniesta and Xavi."

As for the proximity of the Euro, he said: "Since Spain is the last Euro champion and World Champion they would be favourites, but I think Germany can be a good candidate too."

Regarding the rivalry between Cristiano and Messi he would not opt for either: "They're different players, I think they are both at a much higher level. I do not prefer one or the other, but from both you can learn and take things on board" .

The '7 'of Liverpool expressed his "dream" to play with Uruguay at the Olympic Games in London and was cautious about qualifying for the 2014
World Cup in Brazil: "We hope that we continue down the same road, with the same objectives and working with the same humility as we have all long. "

Of course, he spoke of Liverpool. He said: "He does not regret leaving Ajax and values the Anfield club, especially, their fans."  "The stadium and the people are what most caught my attention, the euphoria they produce regardless of how the team fares."  "The fans have supported us at all times and with the love they give you, make feel very comfortable on the pitch. "

Regarding the Red's objectives for next season, he made it clear that they "obviously want to get into the Champions League for next year" and take the opportunity to qualify for the Europa League. "It may be a good opportunity to win it."

    ReplyDelete
  108. No Actually, I think the government should bring the birch back for Downing's display this last season.

Andy Carroll is an inform striker at the moment both up front and defensively against balls in our penalty box, that is evident to most people, and he far stronger than  Rodney Trotter, Darren Bent, and Holt

    ReplyDelete
  109. Wait a minute. You outlaw profanity on this site from everyone else, but it seems like it's ok for you. Last warning before you are banned

    ReplyDelete

Playing football is a well paid job.
Happy to say that I earn well and am happy in the company I work in for the past 10yrs, good relationship at all levels, big family feel.... but.. I would happily jump ship if an interesting offer crosses my path. The combination of location, financial retribution and prestige are all attractive to anyone and is hardly something to hold against another person. Is that hard to understand?
I wonder if Stevie G. was 5yrs younger and a club with the current form of Barca approached him, what would he say? Bye bye Liverpool I'd guess... is that being a mercenary?
No, just a footballer doing his job somewhere else, who will no doubt continue to follow Liverpool because it is in his blood.

    ReplyDelete

  117. "Your a no brainer. " Je peux parle en francais. In english please. If you want to state something.

    ReplyDelete
  118. i am not an apologist for Jamie, but i have to agree with him. Suarez as talented a player as he was for us was the most controversial for us last season. He caused a lot of negative press for Liverpool. While Kenny backed him to the hilt it brought the wrong kind of attention to the club and I think the whole controversy was the beginining of the end for Daglish. I believe that the owners began to lose faith in Daglish during the incident. They called Kenny up and forced him to him to apologize to stop the media feeding frenzy. The fact that Kenny thought that there was no problem was hard for the owners to understand. Many people don't know that Suarez was suspended in the Eurodevise while playing for Ajax for biting a player's ear during a match. I have followed foot-ball a long time but i don't know what in the game warrants a move like that. He is very talented of that there is no doubt but he is a player who always gets himself into trouble where ever he goes. He is impulsive sometimes and he doesn't think before he acts. Kind of like Wayne Rooney in his younger days. Even Rooney has grown up will Suarez? I love him for what he does for my team but on here I am just being brutally honest and yes I want him to stay. The team needs all the talent it can hold unto.

I'm a fickle fan at the moment I admit... I reckon we should bring in Brendan Rodgers, sell Suarez for as close to £60m as possible, give Rodgers the money to buy the majority of the Swansea squad (or the entire midfield at least), let him use the spare change to buy a Hot-Tub-Time-Machine and go back and buy Jelavic when we had the chance and then we can all take turns in the hot-tub watching LFC at least qualify for CL!! Someone please try and tell me this is wrong

  139. I see your point, and I accept that it could be taken that way.  Given Suarez's history this season though, I disagree that it's a personal attack.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Like I have a few times before, football ability aside, generally do not like him and find it bemusing the pedestal some fans have put him up on, when he has done very little in a Liverpool shirt. But in relation to this, its just the usual South American Barca-Real ambition, no real surprise

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  142. The truth is not twisted.  Your suggestion is the oldest excuse in the book; the tenuous notion that somehow using an entire interview will change the meaning of specific snippets from that interview.

Suarez answered individual, unrelated question on Twitter.  The rest of the interview makes absolutely no difference to what he said about dreaming of playing in Spain.

The majority have been garbage, and only appear to have been created to cause arguments.
Why wouldn't fans get behind players who would sacrifice themselves for the club, the name on the back is nothing compared to the badge on the front!

Why don't you simply keep the blog up, but take away the comment facility ? That way, you don't have to 'moderate' what people say. 162. Your whole betrayal theory about the timing etc. is just character assassination.  For the record, Suarez answered what appear to be fans question submitted over the previous 24, in a prearranged Q&A between 15:00 and 16:00 yesterday; news Of Kenny's sacking didn't break until after 16:00.

It's academic anyway, his answers to the questions put to him seemed perfectly innocent to anyone without a axe to grind.

    ReplyDelete
  163. As Jaimie says, this interview was carried out on 16th May 2012, members of the public were encouraged to tweet questions to Suarez so that he could respond, so it is likely to have been a pre-arranged affair. Did Suarez know that Dalglish had been sacked? The interview commenced at 1600 hours (their time I presume, so 1500 hours UK) and the sacking announcement wasn't made till 1700 UK time. Suarez may or may not have been aware, he certainly made no comment on it.

Furthermore, he made the following statement (this has been copied and pasted, the translation is imperfect):

Of course, spoke of Liverpool. He said he does not regret leaving the Ajax and values of the Anfield club, especially, their fans. "The stadium and the people are what most caught my attention, the euphoria that put you up regardless of how the team. The fans have supported us at all times and with the love they give you, make feel very comfortable on the court. "
On the objectives of the Reds for next season, made it clear that they are "obviously, to play the Champions League for next year" and take to qualify for the Europa League. "It may be a good opportunity to win it."
I think you can guess what should be the correct statement in the last paragraph. Suarez did state that he wanted ton play in Spain in the future. I'll be hoping that the future isn't next season.

  164. whos not happy they can fuck off i stil thinkn only 1 club in the world its LFC YNWA

  165. "The sooner Suarez follows Kenny Dalglish out of Anfield, the better."

What is wrong with you Jaimie Kanwar????? Call yourself a red?

  166. tut tut JK, that comment was from a few months ago, hence no reference to a date on your quote!

  167. Your another Whinger you JIMMY CARR, you should move in with TiTi.

Wanting poor old Kenny moved upstairs with a blanket, but he didn't want to go whinge whinge( do you realize how condescending that sounds ) whats this no one will come to us, crap and the yanks wont have to spend and they just want to cream the club crap.

GROW UP....do you mean like the 130 million they gave KD over the last 16 months.

And whats all this thanks for the memories crap, I don't recall to many good memories, or are you talking about when we just about beat RYL on penalties in the milk cup and his complete cock up of the FA cup final.

All Managers are judged on results and tactical awareness and he completely failed on both.

Oh and by the way he will walk alone as he's sacked.

THE KING IS DEAD......LONG LIVE THE KING.

TIP FOR THE DAY......STICK TO THE ROADS AND KEEP OFF THE MOORS.

AND YOU JIMMY CARR YOU STICK TO THE TELLY

  168. *shoots self*

    Why can't people read properly?

Look at the bottom of the article; proof that Suarez made his comment yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  169. You must take this with a pinch of salt as the author has a great hatred of Suarez and cannot wait to see him removed from the UK.

    ReplyDelete
  170. That's an excellent point about Dalglish's health. While nearly all managers are stressed during matches (e.g. even Mancini looked like he would explode with 10 mins to go against QPR ). Benitez is a notable exception. But most managers can let it go an hour or two after a game. Saw some video of Ferguson at the Harry Gregg testimonial on Tuesday night and you can see that he's moved on from the events of Sunday. But Dalglish seemed to be on edge nearly all the time this season, even for pre-match interviews. He was a bit like this during his last few months at Newcastle also. So it may be for the best that he's no longer in charge.

In a strange way its a good time for LFC - no major financial worries, the slate's been wiped clean and anything is possible. Its up to FSG to get it right and, who knows, maybe they will.

(I'd say Mark Hughes has more chance of being next LFC manager than Souness).

  171. So the owners sacked Kenny at 16:00 or that it was made public at 16:00? Big difference between the two

I'm sure the players, staff, etc, were told earlier than the public/media, as is usually the case.

    ReplyDelete
  172. The players, staff, etc, usually get told considerably before the public/media get told officially.

    ReplyDelete
  173. bloody hell, can't you read!?

    ReplyDelete
  174. All those people are probably quoting the same source, so why is there no official statement from Liverpool FC themselves? Steve Clarke was pictured at a Baseball game with both the owners whilst Kenny was on a plane back to the UK after being relieved of his duties! It is still unclear as to the future of Clarke, I for one don't believe anything the press chuck out there until I hear it from the horses mouth, ie Liverpool FC!

  177. Jamie, everyone can be a different opinion. In my view, the decision to support Kenny was the best thing to do in the interests of the Club. Now that Kenny has just gone, I will heartbeat support the new manager, although I believe that Kenny's successor must be put in scrutiny under the usual boxes: top four spot, good run in Europa League possibily. If He will miss the achievements established earlier in the season, He must be sacked as well as Kenny.

    ReplyDelete
  178. How edited was that! Proves my point really. What a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Before Suarez signed for Liverpool in the press conference he said if barca or real come I would like to go. Atleast we know that not like Torres when he went to Chelsea. I respect Suarez for telling the truth.

Get over yourself Jaimie, firstly so what someone asks whether one day you'd like to ply your trade in sunnier climes, that's not even newsworthy, certainly not to an intelligent person, maybe a tabloid reader with a low IQ perhaps.  Secondly, a striker is through on goal near the half way line the defender takes him down knowing he'll get a yellow or red, how is that different to Suarez's handball?  It's not.

    ReplyDelete
  181. You put 'it's my dream' in speach quotes, he never said that, he said its any players dream to play in those leagues, but putting it in speach quotes you are saying that those were his exact words that came out of his mouth, and then you go on to write the actual quote which is no where near as sensational as you made out! This I believe is called libel! You attract people to read your stories with sensational headlines then try to hide the true story in your biased reporting! All he said was that it was every players dream to play in those leagues, but you have him as a man sat by the phone with his bags packed waiting for a call from Barca! Imagine the season we would have had, had he not been present! How many did he create? How many did he score? You need to get behind your team, all of them!

    ReplyDelete
  182. You will notice that Jaimie purposely did not respond to this - cos he has no argument for it.  Instead of saying 'yeah ok i see your point', it's his opinion or no one elses.

Jaimie, - fancy replying to Fabio's excellent piece here.  We'd all be interested in how you view the difference between what Suarez did in the world cup and what Phil Neville did.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  183.  The news broke at 16:00, ie. some journo got wind at around 16:00.  As soon as players\staff get informed, the media will have word within minutes, if they didn't know already.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Yes usually, still I cannot make assumptions that Suarez knew, but probably Jaimie has insider information. Anyway, he still responded as if he was going to be at Liverpool next season.

    ReplyDelete
  185. correction Richie,

The correct terminology is he has done a "Margy Clark"

    ReplyDelete
  186. Did you ever pay that £500 to the Hillsborough charity? You abuse the name of LFC for your own gains. Remove any comments you can't handle to face. Edit comments that reflect badly on you. You taken that job at the sun yet?

    ReplyDelete
  187. I haven't responded because I've answered that question a million times, and I'm not going to waste my time going over it again. Additionally, what Neville or anyone else did is irrelevant to what Suarez did.

    ReplyDelete
  188. my apologies, i just saw a blur of colour and assumed it was adverts.. I write this laid on the floor in a pool of blood ;-)

  189. I find it almost impossible to believe the author of this blog is actually a Liverpool supporter, constantly attempting to undermine management and players as he does, with inflammatory ( and often bogus) headlines hitting the news aggregators  - surely this is a site using tactical topical commentary to get page views ?

I'd be extremely careful with regard to litigation if I were the author , aside from ashamed of myself , as some of this nonsense may be verging on libel?

    ReplyDelete
  190. Brendan Rogers ? I take it your Welsh.

    I'd rather have Roy Rogers

    ReplyDelete
  191. I take it you are Tony Blair with that ridiculous statement.

Dear me, and just when I thought we had some intelligent fans posting comments.

  192. suarez is one of our best players both in terms of skill and work rate. everyone is entitled to their ambitions. he made a big mistake in terms of the evra affair and suffered the consequences. Let's get behind our players. Loyalty works both ways, Jamie. The more we support our players the more joy they will take in playing for our club and the more loyalty we will be shown in return. We should not be made bitter by the ones who don't exhibit this loyalty (owen, torres etc), but should stick to the liverpool way of supporting our team through thick and thin.

    ReplyDelete
  193. It's not the first time he said that.If he want to go.ok.no problem. That's his dream.Everyone has one. It'll not be the end of LFC.

    ReplyDelete
  194. Are you trying to tell us you were once a Bluenose then cheesy and now support the Reds.

Don't worry son its nothing to be ashamed of we all have our secrets......mine's Britney Spears in the School Uniform

  195. Here we go guys..  questions in that same interview, not published on Jamie's site of reference on which he based this article.

    source: http://www.diariolarepublica.net/2012/05/luis-suarez-respondio-internautas/

What do you think about the rumors that place you in the orbit of the FC Barcelona? Have you considered changing clubs? If you pay attention to all the rumors that appear in the newspapers, you go crazy. My mind is at ease, I have a contract at Liverpool and I am very happy there.Luis, How do you think your next season will be at Liverpool, Do you think you'll win the Premier League? It would be a dream because I think being in a club like Liverpool, who have not won it in a while, and to find ourselves in a close fight for it would be very nice.

    ReplyDelete
  196. What he did was absolutely right. He had to give his country another chance.he sacrifice himself.I do feel sorry for the African football specially Ghana. But I don't understand those people who think he was a cheater.

    ReplyDelete
  197. no, your just a deluded fool who can not show any true support for a club, manager, player, owner... honestly your reporting and conspiracies are as bad as those believing Elvis is still alive drinking cuba libre's and smoking a cigar... and your as bias as The Sun itself... * im sure you will find some reason to not post this as well - typical *

  198. Jamie How about a positive comment on lfc anything instead I just write articles bagging the club and players it is people like u that think u can win a league with players like FIFA 12 god hope the next manager wins us the league or he might het the boot too ehh
