Reaction: Suarez, Shelvey, Maxi, Adam & Johnson on LFC's 3-2 win at Blackburn (+Video)

Andy Carroll scored his first premier league goal in over two months as Liverpool beat Blackburn 3-2 in tonight's hard-fought game at Ewood Park.

Earlier today, wing starlet Raheem Sterling was left out of the reserves's game with West Brom, prompting speculation that he might be included in the full squad for tonight's game. Alas, it didn't happen, and Liverpool fans will have to wait a little longer to see him in action again.

LINE-UP vs. Blackburn:

Doni, Flanagan, Skrtel, Coates, Johnson, Henderson, Spearing, Shelvey, Maxi, Carroll, Bellamy. Subs: Jones, Enrique, Agger, Aurelio, Suarez, Kuyt, Carragher.

After the deserved victory, Liverpool's players took to twitter to express their delight at ending the club's horrible run of form:

Jonjo Shelvey

"Great win tonight, great support, needed the win before a massive game on saturday!! #fightingspirt #ynwa"

Glen Johnson

"Great to be back!!! It was the plan from the start to play 55 mins, feeling good! Good fight from the lads to get the win tonight!!!#BigWeekNow"

Maxi Rodriguez

"Thank you for so much support and luckily the 2 goals served to return to victory"

Luis Suarez

"Very happy for the win in a very difficult match. Time to think now on the semi-finals next saturday"

Sebastian Coates

"Great victory! Now think about the semifinal"

Brad Jones

"Football is a crazy game #YNWA"

Charlie Adam

"Great result tonight. Great spirit and effort from lads. Sat can't come quick enough lads can't wait for it".

Well done to Andy Carroll getting the winning goal. Hopefully we won't have to wait another 2.5 months for his next league goal (!)

  1. Is there any further damage possible? TBH I can't see how any game can be a must win until the end of this season. On the other hand, these definitely are opportunities to play young talent.

  2. I agree with you on one level, Tornike - the league season is a write-off, and whatever happens over the next month is not going to change that.

However, I would hate to see the club lose another game against relegation fodder; it just looks bad, and I don't imagine it will do confidence any good going into Saturday's game.

  3. You suggest risking injury which is HIGHLY likely in this type of game going into a semi final????? Are you on crack?

    ReplyDelete
  4. i want to see him and carroll start, i think Carroll is being unfairly treated, mayb suarez needs a rest for everton game, but i want to see an attacking lineup including, Downing, Sterling, Carroll, Hendo, Kuyt

    ReplyDelete
  5. Let's hope we play Sterling today. Would like to see what excuse KD will give if we lose today. Frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  6. If Liverpool don't win tonight then we will be 4 points behind Everton and  level on points with teams like Fulham and Norwich and only a point ahead of Stoke, Sunderland. So our league position can be much worse than what it is right now. If Liverpool don't start winning in the league, we could finish behind these teams and that is not acceptable at all for a club like Liverpool.
From the day i started following Liverpool, this has been the worst league campaign ever.

  7. Not exactly must win, irrelevant really compared to semi final coming up, but we don't want it to get even more embarrassing

I think we need to relax a little by resting some big names, Everton did it and had a healthy victory so why can't we?

    Please start Sterling, Kenny!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sterling has not made his full debut yet, he has to start a game to make a full debut...just wanted to point that out

    ReplyDelete
  9. I would say that Saturday's game is must win. If we win the F.A cup it will at least salvage something from a very mediocre season. We're in Europe, no chance of top four spot. The only thing with tonights game is confidence. And if we can't beat Blackburn with a few 1st team players missing then....

    ReplyDelete
  10. agree wit this article..this kid surely deserve another go so tonight might be good opportunity since we have FA cup semis on Saturday..should give this kid 20 or more minutes if we got 2-0 or more lead before 70th minute but should play with gerrard & suarez on the pitch where he can learn a lot & show his ability by linking with them..

  11. Just for the record, your line up only has ten players....You forgot about Shelvey.

If we're starting with 10 men we're in trouble. :-) who have you left out?

  13. Sorry, Shelvey!  Fixed now.

sterling deserve a chance he will do better than hendo and downing his pace is much needed and he might give us the spark we miss

We're going to get eaten in the middle of the park and down our right hand side.  Simply not good enough.  If Bellamy doesn't produce we have no chance, but heres hoping

    ReplyDelete
  17. No Sterling tonight. Extremely annoyed at our selection. 4 defenders on the bench. Surely with Aurelio going in the summer his place could have gone to Sterling? Where's the logic in 4 defenders? At most only 3 can be used. No harm in putting Sterling on the bench. Deary me...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Great to see Johnson back.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I imagine Agger, Enrique, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez will all be back on sat so just about getting a game in for Johnson and Bellamy. 3-1 to Blackburn.

Sterling isn't even a sub btw, neither is Eccleston.

Not sure I get this team. Either play the strongest team and go for it or at least have a couple of youngsters on the bench. What's the point of suarez as a sub? Are we going to throw him on at 2-0 down because all of a sudden the result matters when looking at the team picked he doesn't think it does before the game?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Totally agree; what is the point of having Aurelio on the bench when Sterling is available?  And four defenders?  Ridiculous really.

Having said that, I think we'll win the game; Gerrard's absence will allow the others freedom to perform.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hopefully. Some of the players need to step up before Sunday's game. Agree about Gerrard, it will give the likes of Shelvey a license to push on. Nice to see Maxi and Bellamy get a game

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good line-up, I think. Suarez the sub, if he needs to come on and change the game, but I think we gonna win with these guys tonight

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes, you're right. I'll adjust that. Cheers.

    ReplyDelete
  24. There's just as much chance of picking up a good performance/result with some fresh faces, as there is in sticking with the same 'experienced' players that have dragged the club down the league like this.

Yet again, this is another waste of a team selection as far as I'm concerned. The likes of Carragher, Kuyt & Maxi clearly have no future at the club so why waste time with them which could so benefit a younger player?? Spearing and Flanagan have never stood out as reserves, so why are they the two that get promoted?? Aurelio as a wide-man option again!?

I have absolutely no faith in Dalglish taking the club forwards. Hopefully he wins the FA Cup and immediately walks with his head held high.

  26. I think the team is well poor but I see kennys thinking all about the semi final which is good but here we look hopeless anyway we're finished with the league so win or lose wont change much, better think about everton, hope we get a draw here, cant see a win with this team

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would think Kenny wants to play it safe in case Johnson is not quite fit yet, and Coates makes some bad mistakes...

    ReplyDelete
  28. no sterling AGAIN!!! Someone please explain, made an impressive debut against wigan and not seen since....im lost on this one. The most exciting winger since mcmanaman and theres ur answer on why we have struggled this season. Same stubborn attitude as rafa which got him sacked in the end!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Flanagan needs to come off before he gets sent off....the kid is out of his depth and struggled against villa as well. maxi also proves a point to kenny with 2 goals.

    ReplyDelete
  30. would love to see maxi hit a hat-trick just to prove the arrogance of galglsigh

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kenny's not listening Rohit, we down to 3rd choice keeper and a Next Gen Keeper against Everton and we have to hang on for 45 mins.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also 1st half Shelvey,Maxi Johnson & Henderson our are best players

    ReplyDelete
  33. NO BLAME TO DONI ...FLANAGAN WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ?

    ReplyDelete
  34. flanagan the biggest idiout ive ever seen, dont wanna see him ever again in this shirt hes so stupid and immature, every time he plays he costs us 3 points, get lost kid u know nothing

    ReplyDelete
  35. Precisely.. screaming at the tv. Then he doesn't get sent off - just causes a penalty instead. Completely don't rate Flanagan i'm afraid; and to be playing Johnson out of position to accomdate - what is that all about?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Still struggling to understand why Maxi has been kept on the bench all season...

    ReplyDelete
  37. he is 3rd choice right back and has a future in football, abit ott but if your going to rest enrique then why not start aurelio instead of 2 right backs and why oh why do we put henderson against the olson twins when johnson isnt having to do as much on the left?

    ReplyDelete
  38. maxi plays well last season and then thats the last we saw of him, its a joke. reina"s face says it all

    ReplyDelete
  39. I worked out Carroll's obvious strength... when we start we effectively have 10 men; so if someone is sent off we could (and i stress could) replace Carroll and then we have seemingly lost nothing - although the drawback being we have to start every game with 10 men in the first place. Hold on! I think i just realised Carroll's obvious weakness as well. Crap.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am glad it was Maxi who got the goals. Sad to see him out in the cold a lot by KK, for no good reason. KK's pride is at stake as these new signings have come under his watch, so he backs them, at the expense of useful players like Maxi

    ReplyDelete
  41. Agreed. Intelligent player. In fact, who cares where they're from; if all our players were as clever as Maxi (Alonso, Garcia, dare i say Torres), then we'd be better off i'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Doni gets a red and Jones gets a yellow. Both have barely played competitive games this season, despite us being in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and PL. We pay for rustiness, with Jones.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It was like the ref didn't give a red to Jones, out of pity for us :(

    ReplyDelete
  44. Don't worry Kenny has his excuses READY AND WAITING....It's a Conspiracy like the Xfiles, The Truth is out there

    ReplyDelete
  45. i think Henderson's best position is wingback after watching tonite's game no doubts about that

    ReplyDelete
  46. That was Carroll's best effort of the game.....trying to do an own goal

    ReplyDelete
  47. taking off maxi and getting enrique on was dalglish's way of saying i'm giving up, now we're defending, wonder how will this end? 2-2 3-2, let's see

    ReplyDelete
  48. after seeing Jones in action, I bet there is no one who doesn't miss reina

    ReplyDelete
  52. Whoo-hoo, Carroll, worth every penny...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Phew. Glad we won!

Could have ended up with two more red cards but I guess KK will find something to moan about

I hope KK praises Maxi, like he praises his donkeys Downing and co.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Good Result !

    ReplyDelete
  55. all you moaners saying that Liverpool never has any luck, huh? second goal and carroll's pass or whatever that was?! Him finally scoring, and Sktrel molesting that guy who eventually played carroll on side, pure luck and nothing but luck

    ReplyDelete
  56. Skrtel, you really are a nutter sometimes

    ReplyDelete
  57. Henderson was sensational as rightback. Another poor performance by Liverpool but a great game to watch and a great result. This was definitely the most entertaining game we have played this season.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Our goal keepers are a joke. Flanagan is a typical 11th choice RB....who's accountable for these muppets!! Jones was lucky not be sent off. i think the ref bottled it as he could not bring himself of sending off 2 keepers in one team. Well done maxi & carroll for tonite and how important is agger to lfc....TOP NOTCH!! Worried about our keeper position for this weekend, everton will explore this.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Agreed mate...great attitude from maxi! Deserves all the praise but based on kenny's theory he'll be dropped for the weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nothing Doni could do about red

Jones messed that up big time, but Yak wasn't going to score so yellow was ok

Great win, esp with 10 men for ages

Cheer up everyone, Shelvey was good, loved that drilled half volley down the line on the turn for Bellamy. Beautiful

Carroll was really good. Fair play to him, defended like a lion from set plays

Bellers was class at times, great assist for Maxi

What a volley by Maxi for 2nd

    Great performance by Hendo

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jordan Henderson was named as the MOTM at Liverpool Official website. What the h***, yes I know he had done okay this match. And I'm glad for him. But I think we should give Maxi a little more credit. He didn't feature a lot of matches regularly unlike Henderson but he always does well whenever summoned to play on the pitch. Scored two important goals and I suspect the reason KD subbed him off with Enrique is to save his face in case Maxi scored a hat trick.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I thought a few of our players came of age tonight. Anyone who can find ANYTHING to criticise tonight, other than the backpass, either needs their head read or will never get any enjoyment out of watching Liverpool. And not sure what Jones was doing - reminded me of Reina at Goodison a few years back, but it all worked out in the end.
The way we started the game I had the feeling it could be like the 2-5 at Fulham last year. The red card changed that but we dug in, and still created a few chances.Come on, Original, even though I'm deluded and an alologist, give Henderson some credit. He worked his balls off. Maybe the turd is starting to get a polish? No, Kenny didn't want to talk about the decisions, he was just gushing with pride for his players.Bet a few of you are secretly gutted. I hope not, though.Well played RedMen.

  63. I am just trelieved that it was Andy Carroll that  scorced the winning goal. I was starting feeling sorry for the big guy.

  65. Funny ol game this one, had me cracking up tbh, bit of a comedy of errors and i guess i had resigned myself to laughing instead of crying....

Anyway, here's my 2 cents worth....

I thought Blackburn were absolute shite, even when we went down to 10 men i knew they wouldn't beat us....as for us i thought we started well enough....but it all went tits up quickly after Doni's sending off, even though Yakubo's pen was a shocker.....

I guess it had to be Carroll to step up and get the winner after nearly heading one home for Blackburn shortly before that.

Basically we got lucky IMO the inexperience of Flanno initially and then Doni's tackle, set us back to 10 men and has left us with no decent keeper for the semi, Brad looks very shaky IMO and im sure he will be tested a lot more against Everton....

IF Blackburn had been any good at all on the night they would have unceremoniously spanked us, for sure we were there for the taking, Kenny got lucky tonight, he's a lucky manager so far, we were close to losing the Carling Cup but for Kenny Millers miss at the end we would have lost....

I guess it could be argued that he has been very unlucky also this season....but tonight was comedy relief....just scraped through against relegation fodder and they do look to be going down if thats the best they can muster against a disjointed and lacking in confidence Liverpool side......they will.

Not sure where that leaves us tbh, enjoyable game in a weird/darkly/comic kind of way.

    ReplyDelete
  66. there is till time to vote on liverpoolfc.tv for maxi as fan's man of the match, so far Carroll is winning

    ReplyDelete
  67. do you really believe what you have posted ?

  68. really ....... trying to do an own goal ??

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  70. poor performance ...........really is that what you think

    ReplyDelete
  71. anyone fancy a nice trip to london on saturday lunchtime? if your feeling a bit energetic, just turn up with your boots, gloves will be supplied at some point during the afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I certainly don't think Liverpool were disjointed or lacking in confidence at the start of the game.

Am I the only one who thought Hoilett made a meal of the penalty? He had all the time in the world to score, but instead played safe in getting the pen and a fellow pro sent off. I'm not saying it wasn't a pen or a red, I just think he deliberately moves his legs into Doni, which I think is a bit snidey.
On another note, if anyone doubts team spirit at the minute, just check out the bench when Brad saves it, and the way Reina went back to the dressing room to console Doni.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I honestly think that some people will never be happy.

I imagine after the 9-0 against Palace, someone on this site muttering, "Look at Aldridge throwing those boots into the crowd. What a fucking waste........"

    ReplyDelete
  74. Just seen the post match interview with kenny....

Why the hell does he have to get so defensive....? Even tried to end the interview early....whilst the guy was asking a question......

Started muttering something about the team getting some abuse lately...so its nice to give them credit....

Jeez, of course the press are going to be critical Kenny, just take a look at our league position.....why can't he just deal with it head on instead of retreating into this self defensive pavlovian reflex type reaction all the time....just makes for awkward viewing tbh.

Its one thing Kenny wanting to praise the players but a little bit of perspective would go a long way to showing the press that he can handle any difficult questions..... because at the moment it just looks like he can't tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  76. See my riposte to your prior similar post, parrot.

  77. Take anything we can get at the moment. All about getting the win, anyway we can get it, as it ends this bad run.

    ReplyDelete
  78. 'what YOU think'

Well I think he (Lion Heart) would be the best judge of what HE (Lion Heart) thinks. Strange, I know(!)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Getting tired of the stuff he comes out with in interviews/press conferences. He was always a bit tricky in his first reign at the club but never this bad, never as sarcastic, paranoid and arsey as he is now.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I can almost imagine you breaking into a smile, Original !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Funny to hear people saying we were lucky tonight, yet when luck or lack there of is brought up as a reason for some of our recent poor results, people are derided..

You can't have it both ways ..

And you can paint the opposition in whatever light you like to suit your argument..

Blackburn 'relegation fodder'... It could of course be argued that playing teams in a relegation battle at this stage of the season is not going to be the easiest of games .. especially with 10 men.

The mancs took 82 mins last week with 11 men to break them down.. and lest we forget beat them at OT at Christmas.

But some people just like a good moan..

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yes, i said we started well...but we looked very amatuerish at times...hence the disjointed bit, and as for our cohesion that seemed to go a bit awol again during the game...

We got lucky, thats my opinion, Blacburn were dire.....absolutley dire....and we only just beat them....

As for the team spirit....i guess its best to believe what you want to believe....

    ReplyDelete
  83. I was very very very pleased to see Maxi do well. I have made my feelings clear on the past here, about my displeasure on his lack of playing time this season. So certainly had a smile for Maxi against Blackburn, as well as a relieved one at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  84. At least he does always front them up, instead of getting someone else, say Mike Phelan, to talk to them on his behalf.....

    ReplyDelete
  85. Very selective hearing my friend....your obviously referring to me re the lucky bit.....but you fail to mention how i also said that (in the same post) it could be argued that we have been unlucky........

    ReplyDelete
  86. Indeed which is why I said you can't have it both ways ..

If luck can be attributed to a victory then lack of luck can be attributed to a loss to..

To be fair while you did say it could be argued we've been unlucky in previous games.. others don't seem to accept bad luck as an excuse but have no problem attributing good luck to a victory

TBH the main reason I replied to your comment was your summation of Blackburn as relegation fodder.. The same cannon fodder that the mancs took 82 mins to break down last week with a full compliment... which you failed to come back on ????

    ReplyDelete
  87. True, but i think atm i'd rather he did get someone else to do these interviews tbh, one thing that he needs to understand is that the press are only doing their job.....he cannot dictate the interview....which is what he's trying to do IMO

    ReplyDelete
  88. I certainly think he is the only midfielder we currently have who can be arsed to get in the box, hence his uncanny knack of pinching a goal, and for that alone he should be picked ahead of the likes of Downing or Kuyt.

    ReplyDelete
  89. The disjointed bit probably came from losing a goalkeeper so having to sacrifice a right-back. Then using a midfielder as a makeshift right-back, thus forcing an attacking midfielder to sit just in front of the back four. The game plan, which was working, went out the window.

The players showed grit, determination, pride and a will to win. As supporters, we can't ask for much more than that, surely?

I do believe, Mitzsu. It's called faith. And hope. Which is the only thing more powerful than fear.

Sorry. I just lifted that straight from a film I watched today.....

    ReplyDelete
  90. I was just waiting for a "paper over the cracks" idiom. Knew you wouldn't let me down!!

Just need a "one swallow doesn't make a spring".

    ReplyDelete
  91. Mate how many times have a good side lost to a shite one...only to go on to beat a top side....and vice versa....????

Im not discussing the game last week with Manu and Blackburn....im discussing the game i saw tonight.....the comments i made were based on Blackburn's pefrormance tonight, not last week.....

I stick by what i said, if you thought Blackburn played very well then we can agree to differ.....

As for the luck bit, i don't think we should be relying on it tbh.......... i personally felt we were lucky because the opposition was so poor, we nigh on beat ourselves tonight IMO, 2-0 up and crusing only to lose a man through our own error....the new keeper was lucky as Yakubo's pen was shite......and then we go on to concede 2 goals.... 1 through another major error, the other through poor defending.....

Carroll could have easily have won the game...for them... had his backward header gone in....luckily it didn't....and he went on to score at the right end of the pitch....

At 2-2 the game was open and up for grabs...

Credit to the team for scraping the 3 points when down to 10 men, but we need to do better than this don't you think?

Just look at the type of teams we have been dropping points against......

    ReplyDelete
  92. shelvey was sensational at times. he was up there with caroll for me as MOM. hendo did really well. most importantly we played as a team and thats why we won. everyone took responsibility. spearo played excellently. so glad to see maxi, glen and agger back. Carolls goal so deserved.

    ReplyDelete
  93. A bit hypocritical don't ya think.. I can't use Blackburns performance last week against the mancs to put the fixture into perspective but you can use their performances over the season to belittle our victory to 'relegation fodder'..

Theres been very few positives of late.. I for one am going to take getting 3 point away from home with 10 men as a positive..

You can take it whichever way you like..

    ReplyDelete
  94. Well, im not sure about the hypocritical part.....i think all Clubs are judged on their position in the league at this point in the season....if they are relegation fodder...then there is usually a good reason for that.....

But taking 1 game and using that as proof of a teams quality...or resilience means you are on shaky ground my friend...

As a pro gambler i look at form over a period of time, im not swayed too heavily by just 1 performance....unless it was very impressive......which im pretty sure a park the bus one against the Mancs was not....

Re whether i see it as a positive or not, i'd prefer to keep my feet firmly on the ground...definitely a good result esp as we were down to 10 men...so i guess that is a positive....BUT the costly errors have to be viewed as a negative IMO...

So, im not really sure what to take from the game esp when a different Liverpool side could turn up in the next fixture....

    ReplyDelete
  95. Fair enough, im not here to quash anyone dreams...or hope or faith or whatever....im just calling it as i see it.

I agree that the team played with a will to win, grit, determination and pride....

Begs the question why havn't we been playing like that ALL season or at least for the best part of.....???

Shouldn't that be a minimum requirement...?

Don't get me wrong, IF we have turned a corner....then i'll be very happy with that, but it'll take a few more performances (minus the errors)  and results like this to convince me, and tbh im a bit worried about our Keeper situ atm.....

Reina seing Red... Doni seeing Red....and Brad getting a yelllow and at the same time gifting a pen is just a tad worrying esp with a big game coming up next....

    ReplyDelete
  96. I don't see what being a pro gambler(whatever that actually means!?) has to do with anything.. Unless you think it adds weight to your opinion or makes you more knowledgeable on footballing matters, which I can tell you it doesn't.

Nobody is suggesting it was a flawless display and error free.. but when a team in the middle of a run like ours ( 2nd worst form in the league) goes down to 10 men away from home i'm sure you'll agree the odds of said team winning all 3 points start to stretch out a bit.. especially after coughing up their two goal lead.

Just because i chose to focus on the positives of the result doesn't mean I don't recogognise there were negatives, nor does it mean I'm getting carried away.. think all our feet are firmly on the ground this season mate !

Fact is under the circumstances tonights result was a good result.. haven't been too many good results of late.

So as I say you take the result whicever way you want and I'll take it the way I want..

Maybe thats the difference between a pro gambler and a pro supporter ..

  97. Good win, against a team fighting hard to stay up. They gave Man Utd a harder game the other week.

Its great that we can make 6 changes and win a game like this. How many times has Carroll started and we've won? I thought that he was man of the match, to be honest. Not just up front but he was putting himself about defending as well, which was good to see. A few of those players probably should be considered for more starts. Bellamy adds a bit of spark to the team and I'm glad Agger and Johnson are back in there also.

Maxi has a habit of getting into the box to score goals, something that most of our midfielders don't do. Regardless of whatever he is good or bad at, his goalscoring record suggests he should be a first choice in the team. Shelvey played well also. Even saw Henderson driving down the right flank and getting an excellent cross in.

Shame about Doni's red card, Jones may have been a bit fortunate to have stayed on as well. Wonder if he would have got a yellow if we'd not already had a keeper sent off. Our reserve keeper on Saturday ought to start working hard for the rest of the week! The way our keepers are going, he may be called on!

All in all, a good performance, hoping that the team can keep this up and the correct selection will come out of the players who played tonight and the rest of our regulars.

Who's secretly gutted? That's ridiculous. Everyone wants the team to win and one good performance doesn't make up for 5 or 6 poor ones, unless it is the sign of steady and sustained improvement.

  98. What are you waffling on about?

Look, you want to enjoy the result, fine, go ahead and enjoy it, you want to take the positives, fine go ahead, im not stopping you.... but keep the personal attacks out of the debate.....

Form is judged over periods of time....thats what i said in reply to your accusation that i was a hypocrite...., and its a fact, even you can't argue with a fact.........hence your personal swipes at me being a pro gambler and you being a pro supporter....oh really???

So you have to resort to undermining me as a supporter as a last ditch attempt to somehow put me right....

    Thanks, but no thanks....

    Laters.

  99. Luckily, he did!! A few of those guys will surely be hoping to get a run out this weekend. Surely 2 games in 4 days is not too much for some of our players have not played that much this season? Fresher players win big games like this towards the end of the season and in the international games.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Ended with 10 men!

    ReplyDelete
  101. It doesn't does it?

Are you saying that this is the turnaround that we've been waiting for? Fine, if you think it is, but even Wolves may win one or two more games this season. So have things been fixed or is this, another cliche, a false dawn?

    ReplyDelete
  102. In reply to both of you, there is such a thing called confidence! We need the guys to begin firing and regain confidence!
It's an amazing thing what a little confidence can do!
Let's hope with a late winner, Carroll begins to play with a smile on his face again and becomes the threat we bought him to be!
In saying that, I would also love to see Sterling come in to play slowly... Maybe KK is going to play them at home and not in a hostile environment to give them... Yes that word again...
    Confidence! :))

  103. The last sentence was meant to be a humorous exaggeration. I apologize if it offended you. Anyway, my point was Maxi deserved more credits than the young Henderson. Kenny mentioned and praised his overpriced signing, Carroll in the post match interview but never the underdog, Maxi.

    ReplyDelete
  104. hopefully next game he will start maxi, suarez, bellamy, gerrard, agger, johnson, skrtel,

  105. Who are you Lion Hearts Mother

    ReplyDelete
  106. No, a representative of common sense. You should try and join us one day.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Someone on here said kk was a lucky manager lol we have hit the post how many times this season . 30 I think had opposition goalies win man of the match more times I can remember. Had Gerard out and Suarez for 8 games and now lost both keepers .

But last night we were just lucky lol

God you negative guys make me laugh so much .

    ReplyDelete
  108. Doni getting a red card wasn't bad luck (if that (luck) was what you were trying to say), that was a bad situation caused by Flano.

    ReplyDelete
  109. You should read my posts I have common sense in abundance. If Lion Heart had a problem with my post then maybe he should have been left to respond himself. Liverpool FC have been poor this season and KD has made some terrible mistakes with signings and tactics. Last night could never be described as a poor performance. If you or Lion Heart think it was a poor performance then I am afraid you have no sense at all

    ReplyDelete
  110. Well, you will laugh at this then, we are still 8th and there are still a host of team who are closer to us than they should be.

Sorry, if that seems negative to you, is it ok to acknowledge that there is a recession going on at the moment?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Gab, what are you talking about? We beat BLACKBURN! Do you not realise what a monumental achievement that is?! Such an amazing victory, and as you should know, beating teams in the relegation zone is the hardest thing to achieve in football. What a fantastic night! It's like winning the Champions League all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I am convinced Jonjo Shelvey is our answer to replacing Alonso. Very different players, with Shelvey's style more similar to Gerrard's; but when Shelvey plays, he brings purpose to the team's movement the way Xabi did. The team moves as one and looks organised in the midfield at least. I'd imagine if there's chemistry between Shelvey and Lucas, we'd have a very intelligent midfield pairing that creates and utilises spaces properly.

Henderson is finally making use of his pace! Having to play at rightback meant he couldn't hide from players coming at him with the ball and it gives him space to actually use his acceleration. It's when he plays high up the pitch that he always opts to pass backwards and is never near the action when not in possession.

Blackburn was largely garbage, but that isn't the point. Whether our opponents play terribly or play well, they only need a decent keeper to lay any of our good work to waste. We were lucky it was Robinson and not Bunn in goal. Robinson's got to be the only keeper in the league who hasn't been outstanding. Even Paddy Kenny is miles ahead. However, if Carroll keeps it up, I think he will be scoring a whole lot more.

  113. has everyone lost their sense of perspective???jesus lads, there are enough dickheads out there trying to knock us,why do we do it to each other!!!it was a very good win against the odds last nite,we"re not world beaters but we"re not rubbish either.i truly believe that things will pick up next season.unity amongst the players/staff and fans will ensure it.there are clubs out there whose fans are too fickle,we shouldnt join them.instant success cant be bought, look at city.give the carrolls/hendos/downing time to get to grips with playing at a club like liverpool.luck has played a big part of our season,we have played a lot of teams off the park this season, the football on a whole has improved and i for 1 think we are getting back to playing a more attractive brand of football.

    ReplyDelete
  114. This is the problem with us a fanbase IMO Jamie, we are so quick to jump from "negative" to "positive", i win against a poor Blackburn side and its case of Uber fans attacking others for not supporting properly....and what a disgrace we are....and how we don't understand the Club and should feck off etc....

I mean Jeez, i've been reading other sites last night and today and you just can't call it as it is....

The type of fight, determination, grit and will to win we saw last night...should be expected EVERY game....should it not?

Or am i going as crazy as that game was last night...?

    lol.

    ReplyDelete
  115. MY GOD, there is a lot of complainers on this page, people in here need to relax and believe instead of slagging our players off.

    ReplyDelete
  116. ifs buts and lots of people trying their hardest to make a good win with 10 men seem like we where lucky and blackburn where poor and everything is dalglishes fault even why their own lives are shit. negative and more  negativity. some people are not happy at all. it think some people need to give football a miss as it seems to be a bit to stressfull for them. against blackburn i saw a liverpool set up with different players and with 11 men dominated blackburn, scored two goals and where setting them up for a drumming. After this all hell broke loose and we where down to 10 men. I saw liverpool players who where probably low on confidence, berrated by fans try their bloody hardest to get the win. it was the first time last night i saw a different side of henderson, a passionate, dogged performance where he was more worried about getting the ball rather than how his hair looked. i saw a liverpool side who deservedly won the game and more importantly will go into an FA Cup semi final with confidence. some fans need to enjoy when you win, otherwise what is the point of you being not only a liverpool supporter but a supporter of any sport?? if you moan when you win, you will never be happy. I am glad some of you are not my friend, jesus i would be depressed listening to you in the pub!!!

    ReplyDelete
  117. I hope so, Gab, I hope so. But even if we won all our remaining games, I sense that people would still say "paper over the cracks/false dawn", because of the horrendous run we've been on.

Can't we just enjoy the win, then move on to Saturday?

    ReplyDelete
  118. I noticed yesterday several commentators where speculating about Sterling as he was left out of the reserves squad but he wasn't in the senior squad. (As the sarcasm from JK duly notes). If he's not injured, has he been left out because of his attitude? Is he sulking and causing unrest?
In the current pressure cooker of playing for LFC is it any wonder the teenagers are not thrown into the deep end, just look at Flanagan last night he went to pieces and he's much more senior than Sterling.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Beating teams in the relegation zone has ALWAYS been an achilles heel for Liverpool, since the 80's anyway, so why the need for sarcasm?

And it IS a monumental achievement playing with 10 men, and IF as you keep saying our Manager has no tactical acumen, and our players are so mediocre. Surely teams in the relegation zone are battling for every point?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Totally agree, Mitzsu - It was Blackburn; LFC should be expecting to win; in fact, it should be demanded, especially given KD's financial outlay. No extra credit should be given to the players for the doing the job they're paid to do against inferior opposition.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying the result, but making out that it' some kind of watershed moment is ridiculous, as is going over the top with praise for players who've been responsible for the club's worst run in 60 years.

The attitude of Liverpool fans is (IMO) dictated somewhat by the management of the club, and Dalgish has created a damaging victim culture, and that is reflected in the way fans react to each other.

Dalglish's rudeness, belligerence and victim mentality are the main reason I want him to step down in the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Oh God. You've done it now. You mentioned LUCK!!!! Get ready for OriginalChan to jump down your throat and try and belittle you or your opinion.

I stand by what I said a few weeks ago: the only games we deserved nothing out of this season were Spurs (A), City (A), Utd (A) Bolton (A) - I never saw the Sunderland game, so I can't comment. Every other game I can remember being disappointed but not discouraged.

I acknowledge mistakes have been made, and our finishing is a concern, but the style of play HAS been better. No question.

But then again, I'm just an apologist or deluded.

    ReplyDelete
  122. It's a good result, but calling it a 'monumental achievement' is just gross exaggeration. Even with 10 men, Liverpool should have enough quality to dispatch Blackburn with ease.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Even if we do win all remaining games, it would still be 'papering over the cracks'; it may be a cliched saying, but it's true. Dalglish is the problem; Liverpool will not move forward with him at the helm.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Apologist or deluded? No, you're definitely not that.

You're an apologist AND deluded ;-D

    ReplyDelete
  125. Agreed, was an enjoyable win. We'll soon know the value of it, both in actual performance and morale. I hope that KD will have learned a lot more about who he should be trusting and who he shouldn't. The wrong selection at the weekend will undo much of the good work last night.

Saturday, against in form and decent opposition, will show the value/potential of the team.

If we went on a long winning streak, I'd be quite happy for us to go into next season and look at it in January.

    ReplyDelete
  126. again, have to laugh,ye talk about how wronged maxi has been by kk,yet call for sterling to have a run last nite.its not football manager on xbox!!!yes kenny has made some strange decisions but i bet alot of u criticising him didnt have a problem with rafa making even more bizarre changes during his time .kenny and clarke work every day with the players, who knows what makes them choose the squad/team for match days.get back to supporting, leave the management to manage!!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yes, I'm sure that the glory days are returning now after that rollercoaster performance that could have been 5-2 either way!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Thought his interview last night was another embarrassing episode, not sure why someone at the club is not having a word with him. He's already had to apologise for comments during an interview and now he is nearly walking out in the middle of the interview?

    ReplyDelete
  129. I think the team showed fight and determination and can be pleased to have seen that through with 10 men. But it was the type of game where the score could have been anything. But credit where it is due, no doubt.

But the fact that we are so impressed with the win doesn't say much for the general performances and results this season.

    ReplyDelete
  130.  The only reason is Dalgish wanted to play his players(Flops) to be able to prove its summer signings has not been a flop!! However Maxi & sterling & bellamy are far better than downing, kuyt(as right winger) & even Adam..FSG need to sack Dalgish at end of season as this actual LFC is not the true legent liverpool..Being an all time LFC fans we are sick to watch LFC losing every weeks.  Forget about champions league dream as LFC present team have a record of 6defeat & have struggle to beat a relegating team like Blackburn. How con wich this team to play against barca, R.Madrid, AC milan & other top european team!!! LFC are ages behind these team!!! There is a need for a drastic change, new top quality manager & new quality foreign players instead of overprice british useless!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Don't see many people moaning and I don't think anyone has shown themselves unhappy with the win.

But there's no point going overboard about two wins in eight either. It might be a turning point, it might not be, we can wait and see. It was an exciting game but hard to know what we learned from the game. Is it ok, in your opinion, if people wonder if KD will make the right selections at the weekend, based on the performances we have seen?

What do you mean all hell broke loose? Us giving away two penalties?

    ReplyDelete
  132. Looking at the entire season, how well do you think that daily working with the players, some that they bought, has worked so far?

Its all fair and well people carping on about negativity, etc, etc, but it is less harmful to be overly critical than to have blind faith. For every situation where negativity will be harmful, there are a lot more where blind faith is damaging.

  134. Good result i never thought we were going to win, well done lads However one thing that is gonna happen for sure is Maxi is going to be dropped by KD for the next game and his excuse will be Maxi's tiredness

    ReplyDelete
  135. I have always liked Maxi. He is one of those players who wants to attack the box and gets into scoring postions unlike Carroll who frequently out position himself. Hope Kenny plays Maxi more.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Yes its important to finish the season on a high even if we don't crack into the top 6 because it would do wonders for confidence.  Hopefully with renewed confidence we can start the next season on a better footing.

I think Raheem should be given a run of games. FOrget his age. If he is good enough, which I think he is, he is old enough to play.

    ReplyDelete
  137. its a saying, it means we where winning comfortably then alot happened in a short space of time!! that is what is meant by 'all hell broke loose' a sudden change of the norm. all i say is people seem to try and find fualt in everything we do, we have won enjoy it, if we win on saturday, enjoy it, when we loose yes, you have a reason to sulk like all of us!! and read some of the previos post, there are people not happy even when we win!!!

    ReplyDelete
  138. A tale of two keepers ! What next for Liverpool , disaster after disaster entrenched for the team. Ch Bai lu and my Puki Mak for Andy Caroll, 2 goals in 22 league games !

    ReplyDelete
  139. Fair play, we nearly lost both of our reserve goalies, Jones was lucky to stay on.

Yes, I agree that it is good to enjoy a win, but can definitely see why people want to see signs that the team will improve before getting too excited, because a lot of this season has been disappointing.

Think it is 50/50 on saturday, so still hopeful, despite everything that has gone on!

    ReplyDelete
  140. This was probably the most entertaining game I've watched this year.  Here are my take aways:
    - The refereeing is still very inconsistent.  If Doni's foul was a red card, how was Jones foul not
    - Maxi can finish, makes you wonder why he has not been featured more often
    - Does Bellamy ever stop running (what a motor), I loved seeing him say "look up" to Shelvey on the one break
    - Henderson finally looked like a player when he played the right back position.  I think he should b e there more often, he was very effective in pushing up from that position
    - Skrtel and Agger seem to play at a higher level when they are both on the pitch together.
    - This game was like the old times, it was only fair because the reds played with 10 men
    -  Andy Carroll seemed to get into the game after he became involved on the defensive side.  A near miss at each end and the game winning goal.  Maybe that's what he needs to get it going.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I was just trying to highlight the level of achievement in comparison to how mediocre/shit you maintain we are. Everyone keeps telling me we are a mid -table club, average at best, so you all must be right. I have therefore conditioned myself to expect very little from the team, and celebrate each unlikely victory accordingly.

You can use your gross hyperbole to write sarcastic negative comments, but I'm not allowed to twist your words to suit my argument?

    Fine.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Jim - you can twist my words to suit your argument if you like!

    ReplyDelete
  143. For having faith in my Club?

It must be difficult to continue writing to such plebs as myself, who insist on taking positives from each game, who insist on supporting every player, who insist on making each game an event and not a chore, who insists on blindly paying for my season ticket every June, who insist that being able to watch Liverpool play is a privilege.

I notice you didn't bother listing any other games that we deserved nothing from, which with your penchant for "stats" is a concern. Or maybe there just aren't any?

Does anyone else find your overly bumptious persona appealing?

Unfortunately Gerrard will be back.  We have won 2 out of 13 since he returned to the side which tells me he is not the inspirational center mid everyone thinks he is.  He has all the tools apart from one, the abilty to completely dominate midfield.  His lateral movement and the timing of his runs forward are poor.  Is he worth the risk playing him in the middle?

  148. Its a open forum, I'll reply to your response to LionHeart's post if I like and I did.

LionHeart & co are allowed to have a opinion on the performance last night. Belittling someone's opinion on the game last night in the MANNER you have done is just plain stupid, childish and petty, as well as your attempts label me as a Manc, just because I criticise KK and his signings. At the end of the day, this may surprise you and your ego but your opinions aren't fact. Disagree with things, yes, as this is a forum but don't be an arse about it, if you and your big ego can help it. I have disagreed with Mitzu on a few occasions but we both go about it in a amicable manner, whereas you have to be a utter tit about it.

Anyhoo, I am done with you in this particular thread as your not worth anymore keystrokes.

His performances in the reserved team are explosives. And i do'nt  align on  Dalglish's declaration, pleadind that the guy is too young. It's not a  reason. You must give him his chances against Everton.Last week he played only ten minutes as substitute  and he got a 8.9 rating. The best of the match.
