Is this the weakest excuse yet for LFC's poor league form? I think so...

Last week, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish argued that it was 'disrespectful' to gauge the club's success by looking at the Premier League table. Well, after dropping 19 points at home so far this season, he would say that, wouldn't he? Dalglish's former team-mate Steve Nicol usually talks sense when it comes to his old club, but on this occasion, he seems to be suffering from the same delusion as Dalglish when it comes to assessing Liverpool's season.

Speaking to ESPN recently, Dalglish got on his high horse once again and blasted people for having the temerity to suggest that Liverpool's league form was not up to scratch. He said:

"I think people should take an intelligence check. It's not true that you should only look at the league table. Judging by league positions is also disrespectful"

If Liverpool were second or third in the table right now, I sincerely doubt Dalglish would be calling people 'disrespectful' for suggesting that league position is important when gauging overall success.

When asked what Dalglish meant by his comments, Steve Nicol came out with the following response:

"I think what Kenny is trying to say is that because of the involvement in the two cups, they've had so many extra games, and it's taken its toll on their league form. You can't have everything, and at the moment, the league position is causing them problems".

So let's get this straight: Liverpool's league form has suffered because of having to play extra games in the domestic cups? I've heard some lame excuses this season but this has to be the worst (!)

Every other team is in the same boat, and the likes of Chelsea and Spurs have even more games as a result of being in European competitions. If playing in domestic cups has such a negative impact on league form then what's going to happen next season when Liverpool have the added burden of the Europa League to contend with?

Extra games in domestic cups has nothing to do with poor league form, and I think everyone with any objectivity knows that.

It's just getting ridiculous. The management needs some big back-to-reality slap from Henry at the end of the season. Just the thought of excuses like these going on for another year is depressing.

  2. You don't have to b intelligent to know that 80 mill he spent on four players are actually rubbish. Even the thickest people can c that we r miles off the first place in PL and only three points above Swansea City who came up last season. When u actually c the table and c that Blackburn, W Bromwich,Swansea, Sunderland, Fullham scored more goals than us is very depressing.

  3. How come a Liverpool site is run by non Liverpool fans?? No true Red would talk about The King in this way, No one is happy with the league table, but you would have to be a moron not to see the vast improvement from the Hodgson days.

  4. cloud cuckoo land from dalglish. We have had no european football. The league doesn't lie. That's the true test and barometer

  5. First you called for Rafas head and you turn on Kenny. You are a total bellend with zero loyalty for LFC. I think you would be a lot happier supporting Chelsea or some other team. At least chelsea fans love nothing more than to constantly shit on their club. Y.N.W.A are just some hollow words to you and the likes of you. You sad sad boy...

  6. It used to be said that liverpool fans were among the most intelligent fans in the world, Not any more regarding some of the comments on here.

Liverpool have in the past 18 months made a profit regarding transfers, reduced the wage bill by £30m per year, played some outstanding football won their first trophy for 6 years, and very close to a second trophy within 3 months.  Its true the table dosent look great but look at the games, we have utterly dominated 90% of our games, I would be more worried if we were playing poorly and not creating chances, we are not far away from being a top team.

  7. 80m on four players that are rubbish?? WHO?? Suarez 23m(replaced the poor Babel) Enrique 6m(replaced the dreadfull Konchesky) Henderson 12m(replaced the inconsistent and aging Meireles), Downing 18m(replaced the average Jovanovic), Carroll 35m(replaced the poor for 12 months wantaway Torres), Doni free, Bellamy free(replaced Ngog), Adam 6m(replaced the awful and ancient Poulsen), Coates 7m(replaced Kyrgiakos).

  8. Buy British was the policy, so we did. Look what we got for the money. A Carling Cup victory and a place in the semi-final of the FA Cup with the chance to win that too. Every LFC manager has bought a turkey or two during their tenure. The injury to Lucas hasn't helped either. Carroll was a last minute panic buy and regardless of the stick he gets for his poor performances KD has to stand by him and the other summer signings. It was interesting to hear the Stoke supporters chanting, "What a waste of money" at Carroll during the match on Sunday. Probably did his confidence no end of good. At the end of the season when all is said and done we can all reflect back on the wisdom or not of the Buy British policy.

  9. Jamie, name a single manager who wouldn't defend his team if they had been vilified in the media as much as LFC have been this season. There isn't a doubt that Dalglish knows his team have under-performed. There isn't a doubt that we should be a lot higher in the table right now. Dalglish knows this. Just answer me this though; name a manager who would publicly accept every criticism levied at his club by a reactionary British media. Then, name 3 games this season we actually deserved to lose, in terms of possession, shots on target, and football played. Of course Dalglish (and LFC fans) have a right to feel aggrieved by the results this season, but they also have a right to feel hard done by over all the detrimental exposure they have received in the media. I appreciate there have been several signings that haven't performed as well as they could have (I, for one, will be very happy once Adam is deemed surplus to requirements, and sold to a mid-league team where he belongs..); I appreciate that there have been several issues that have concerned me (Carroll and his apparent lack of form/movement/killer instinct, the inability to break down some of the lesser teams, Adam in general) but to say we are as bad as your regular diatribe seems to suggest is poor reporting, and something I would expect from the Daily Mail or its ilk. Come on son, sort it out.

  10. Let's do a comparison here.

91-92 Souness in his first FULL season finished 6th in the EPL...

94-95 Evans in his first FULL season finished 4th in the EPL.

99-2000 Houllier in his first FULL season finished 4th in the EPL...

04-05 Benitez in his first full season finished 5th in the EPL...

    Hodgson...N/A

Kenny in his first full season back at Anfield has us in 7th. Do not hold your hopes up for 4th as we are 10 points behind Arsenal with only 10 matches left.

Yes it has been a disapointing season in the league but whoever is calling for Kenny to be axed right now or wants him to be replaced at the start of next season are keeping their hopes up to high as it WILL NOT happen and those who have this idea need get a grip and enjoy the ride. We are not oil rich City who have tried to by success and still only have the 2011 FA Cup to show for it since their oil rich owners have out spent any other club. They have not won the league yet either this season. It is going to be another close one. Should they not win the league this season, then what will they have to show for buying expensive foreign "the best" players? Maybe next season for them I guess but what if they do not win it in 12/13? If they do win the league this season then it will be mission accomplished but having the best players, paying the highest wage etc will not always bring success just as City have found out since spending the vasts amounts they have and yet only having one FA Cup to show for it...

  11. Some of you LFC fans must stop living in past glories....yes,we`ve 18 league titles(how long since the last one!!!!),5 Champ. league trophies etc etc....but that`s history, yesterday, lovely memories.....but this LFC squad is the now and the future and as Bekim Sejdija said,`we`re miles off first place in the PL`.This is the MOST important issue at hand ,to be challenging for the PL NEXT season,NOT in 5 years time.We need to also get back to the `bread and butter`income and prestige of Champions League football,a 3rd season without it and we will never attract any big name transfer signings in future.John W Henry WILL be dissapointed with no 4th place finish...can see BIG changes this summer in managment(not necessarily removing Dalglish, more cosemetic eg.Comolli) and playing roster, definately,...THIS IS LFC and WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD QUICKLY,or we`ll still be having these types of issues and conversations amongst us fans with no PL titles in sight for years to come....ps.Caling Cup and hopefully FA Cup is some progress....but LFC NEED to be the Barclays Premier League Champions....and quickly!!!!!!!

  13. After the removal of the disease that was H+G, anyone who thought we would challenge for the title this soon are out of their minds. We currently have the 6th biggest wage bill in the premier league and the 5th most expensive squad, yet many on here think we should simply walk into the top 4, Makes me embarrassed that these people claim to be liverpool "Supporters".

  22. Liverpool's villification in the media is entirely self-inflicted.  Dalglish has been needlessly rude and belligerent towards the Press ever since he returned.  And why?  Because he thinks his status at LFC allows him to get away with it.  It's misplaced hubris, and fans are the great enablers.  It got so bad that Dalglish had to publicly apologise for his rudeness, and he himself admitted that his behaviour was 'unbecoming' that expected of a Liverpool manager, which is exactly what I had been arguing since the season began.

It's convenient how you forget that.  You say 'name me a manager who wouldn't defend their team', I say name one manager in the history of the Premier League who's had to publicly apologise for their rudeness to the media. You can blame the 'reactionary' media all you want but Dalglish - and the club -  have brought it upon themselves, especially with the grossly amateur handling of the Suarez-Evra situation.Liverpool have deserved to lose every game lost this season; possession and shots on target mean diddly-squat - WINNING is what matters; finishing well is what matters, and buying the right players to achieve those aims is what matters, and Liverpool have not done that consistently. Why is it always everyone else's fault? The league table doesn't lie, and LFC are in seventh because they deserve to be in seventh. With respect, if you are going to paraphrase me then please do it accurately; nowhere have I stated that Liverpool are 'bad' - I have merely stated the facts about the club's poor performance in the league, and if you can't handle the truth, which you clearly can't, then that's not really my problem. You and everyone else can continue living in your bubbles if you like, and you can keep trying to brainwash everyone into thinking like you do (i.e. everything is rosy, and the only way to be a 'real' fan is blind faith), but there others of us who prefer to be absolute realists, and you're just going to have to put up with it.That is what this site is about: critical realism.  It's always been that way, and you should expect that when you come here.  If you want the rosy view then go RAWK.

  23.  Raul is world class and was no where near as inconsistent as Henderson and had a big part to play in Kenny getting the job with his outstanding play last season.
You can put whatever spin on it you want, too much money was spent on squad players at best.
Wether its from sales bla bla bla its irrelevant that money could’ve been spent on talented players with at least the potential to be world class.
Obviously Suarez is world class but if he had better players around him I think he would be doing a lot better.
Bellamy and Enrique were aswell good signings and I think Coates will aswell prove to be a good signing
There is no excuse for Carroll, fecking Ngog would have done better than him this season.
Bottom line is can Kenny be trusted with more funds.

  24. profit regarding transfers? elaborate please.

outstanding football ? isnt this the worst liverpool team in front of goal for many a year?

i agree liverpool fans used to be intelligent - the lack of scrutiny of a legend that is now manager has damaged that reputation. I used to think Fergie talked sh*t but honestly this season Dalglish has taken him to the cleaners with the amount of crap that has come out of his mouth

  32. Needlessly rude and belligerent? One yolk doesn't make an omelette.. Dalglish is known in media circles as having a dry sense of humour and reporters know if they play silly buggers, Dalglish is more than happy to play along. Your chosen words and representation of an incident are reminiscent of a wonderful article I read on FOX news recently, which I would link to but I'm unsure if it would be allowed as all of the posting rules seem to be about insults, something it seems your more than happy to dish out but not receive?

Publicly apologise? A man makes a mistake and recognises it, and takes the necessary steps to rectify it. How about managers refusing to be interviewed by a certain media company because they ask difficult questions? Your support of the media is laudable, however, considering the way you support your chosen football team.. Be that as it may, I agree the unsavoury incident could have been handled differently by LFC

Jamie, you may not say anything about the way LFC play is bad, but you sure as hell don't say anything is good. You ask why is it always the fault of others - did you not read my post? Is there a placing of blame on others shoulders?  I'm more than happy to talk football, but seeing as all you really want to do is insult me to make yourself feel better about yet another time your "arguments" have been shown to be complete and utter rubbish, which, need I remind you, is against your own posting rules, I shall take the evening off and come back in the 'morrow, when I'm less amused by you.

We finished in 6th on 58points

Newcastle finished in 12th on 46 points

    we invested in players..
    Bellamy
    downing....20million
    Henderson....20million
    Adam....8million
    Coates ...8million
    Enrique ...8million
    doni ...2million..

Plus Carroll and suarez at 58million

Newcastle spend less than 30million altogether and are way better than us and their players don't need time to adjust..settle in..and grow up.

    Players they sign are

    dembe ba
    Ben Arfa
    cisse
    Tiote
    orbatan

    and

They are better than us...play better football...have a manager who talks sense and doesn't win shirt deals aswell..

  51. Fact is Kenny is getting cut a lot of slack.....Jamie is making a good point here, i don't quite know why Kenny is behaving like this, much was made about Hodgson's comments to the press and how embarrassing they were , the amount of abuse he got for saying what he thought (NOT what the fans wanted to hear..) was way OTT.

I recall a compilation of quotes by him (Roy) which a certain forum dedicated an entire thread to in order to supposedly "help" oust the guy and underline the stupidity and ineptness of the guy....quite pathetic IMO and now that same site (TIA) has a new thread dedicated to praising Kenny and admiring his press comments........

I think the turning point for me re Kenny was definitely the handling of the Suarez/Evra affair which tbh i found hugely dissapointing embarrassing and completely cringeworthy, up to that point i was willing to overlook certain unnecessarily defensive comments from him.

Now, it just looks like a case of deflecting the fact that we have quite clearly underperformed, i do feel for the guy though as i think he will be very frustrated with how things have panned out, maybe the players have let him down to a certain extent, i do think we have a problem with player divisions in the squad which i think no manager could easily resolve without having to off load perhaps at least 3 or 4 players in either camp.

That cannot be easy to deal with if it is indeed the case, for sure though the Club is at a crossroads IMO, we have 2 visions that are reflected in the type of players we have at the Club, 1 vision wants a return to the Rafa type squad littered with foreign players and very little room for British....the other a return to a more British core etc....

Therefore with regard to Kenny i feel that he still deserves our support but i agree that these type of comments are a little difficult to take and somewhat annoying, and for a fact IF Roy Hodgson had said the same thing.................

  52. The top clubs judge success by Champions League qualification. Mid-table teams and below are delighted with a cup run and a Carling Cup win - Birmingham won it last year and were relegated.

When Man U won the Carling Cup, Liverpool fans derided it as Mickey Mouse. Now those same fans are claiming the win as progress. The reality is that, after a spend of £114m, Liverpool are further away from the Champions League than since Benitez final season, when he had been struggling with managing a selling club under Hicks and Gillett.

Those fans who call critics of the present situation 'disloyal' are simply showing their small club mentality

  63. Newcastle are better than us? i am assuming you are saying that because they have played a game extra and are 5 points ahead of us in the league?

Funny how TOTAL spend (the TOTAL amount of money paid out for players) has become a factor nowadays since Rafa left when it was always NET spend (TOTAL amount of money payed out for players MINUS the TOTAL amount money recouped) was one of the main reasons for defending the messiah.

Kenny spent 58mil in January 2011 when he returned. Half the season was gone and our EPL season was over before it even started. The season before 10/11 we finished 7th (our worst season in years) so Kenny knew that there was going to be a long road ahead of him. We sold Torres and Babel in January 2011 so FSG, Comolli and KD got together and said that 2 attackers have left the club so it would make sense to replace them with 2 other attackers and so went and bought Suarez and Carroll.

This season KD has spent in the region of 56mil.

If we use the NET spend mentality, Kenny has only spent 56mil since he joined the club.

    Net spend, blah, blah, blah.

Now how are you going to defend Rafa on this one when you (Mali341) want to talk about TOTAL spend?

In 07/08, Rafa spent TOTAL +- 69,7mil and still could not win the league. Jamie has before compiled figures using offical club account documents and Rafa's TOTAL spend in 6 seasons was +- 300mil which is more money spent by any other manager we have ever had. Did Rafa win the league spending all that money?

It is easy isn't it to come on here and lambast Kenny Dalglish. We have won our first silverware in six seasons which is a step in the right direction. We are at Wembley again in the FA cup and should we make it to the final and win the FA cup, then 2 tropies in 1 1/2 seasons for Kenny will be a sign of more to come.

We have not won the league since Kenny won it back in 1990. That was 22 years ago. What exactly were you expecting this season when no other manager after him could win the league? 7th this season with 10 matches left is not where we want to be. We are not going to finish 4th this season but I can guarentee that FSG are not going to get rid of Kenny because of us not finishing 4th this season as FSG knew that when they bought the club it was not going to be a quick fix. They had the exact same experience when they bought the Red Sox and eventually gained success with patience.

Mali341, you are going to have to face disappointment at the start of next season as Kenny dalglish wil FACT be going knowhere... :)

  65. Totally agree Morris, we have the worst conversion rate of chances in the league but we are up there with chances created vs the likes of City and UTD. That is where it has gone wrong this season, we have been unable to convert chances and there have been loads and loads of chances gone begging this season. Like you said, if we were not creating anything then lets start worrying.

This season is over for us in the EPL but at the start of next season we will have a look back at this season and go back to the drawing board. We will sign more players. Kuyt who has said that he will leave and Maxi who is enjoying life on the bench will be replaced and I reckon we need to get rid of sick note Agger and get another top CB. Carra might have seen his last season or might continue as a sub for next season. More additions to further strengthen the squad next season and we will move closer to where we want to be. Some of our so called fans cannot see the wood from the trees...

Funnily enough Dalglish is beginning to sound like Hodgson. I just cant get over the idea that Anfield roaders hate Hodgson so much and yet would defend Dalglish to the end. Considering that many of Hodgson's decision making does appear to be inspired by Dalglish.

Think back for a minute, Buying British, 4-4-2 and a lot of what Hodgson said during interviews are pretty similar to what Dalglish is saying now. yes there is ïmprovement this season over last (Hodgson tenure) but taking into account, and this is a must, the amount of money spent and wasted, to complement a frankly strong collection of core players, e.g Reina, Gerrard, link that with this season's performance...well, you get the idea.

Anyways if King Kenny is what Anfield Roaders want then so be it....I hope you guys enjoy the ride.

Liverpool have become universally disliked under Dalglish, inspite of the fact that we're just a midtable team!

So by your argument kk has spent 60million more than Newcastle

and whose playing the better football and scoring more goals

    ReplyDelete
  71. In that case if you say Newcastle has spent net minus 5mil this season and palying better football then Rafa should have won the league every seaon he was at the club by spending on average TOTAL +- 50mil per season.

Which way would you like it? NET or TOTAL spend?

  72. Correct me if i am wrong but was Raul not our player of the season last year and is he not a regular starter for a very strong Portugal side.Raul was aswell for the most part played out of position last season.
    Raul is defo world class.

  73. Felt if money can buy success, man city would have been champions for the last few seasons... So what's a 100 million?

Sure, Liverpool sitting at 7th position and people question why can't we buy this player that player with all that money, answer because all the good players want to play in Champions League! And we ain't even in Europa League...

I have no idea why Luis Suarez would want to sign for LFC last season, perhaps he believed in what Comolli told him about 'the project', or because of our history which we are now eating into it...to win a few cups right now could soften some blows! Sorry to disappoint some 'fans' here, we won't be challenging for the league title in the near future...problem isn't just buy couple of 20m players, other teams have improved too

    ReplyDelete
  74. you're talking about a man who spent over 220 mil over 5 seasons, anyways whatever he did and spent he was competing for the 1st or at least sat comfortably in 4th, 2 got to the champions league final, if he had that much money to spend we'd have a winning team with a very strong 1st eleven and great in depth, what we had is a very good team, and weak depth, if he was spending the amounts kk is pending in the way he kenny did we'd be stoke level

    ReplyDelete
  75. No way aqua did, have you followed what happened, donekys like adam and henderson were given green light, he was told he is surplus requirements, he didn't fit in kenny's vision of bunch of individuals with an liability lazy Adam in the middle(btw i think the team is only playing better because he is out of the 1st eleven), Kenny said well i can't find him a position in my team and that's why he left. If he was given assurance he is needed he would stay, stop perpetuating myths. meireles wanted to stay and he had the skill and vision and understanding with suarez to create goals, remember the arsenal game. he deserved a pay rise, he was given nothing, and since he left we're not scoring goals, explain that to me where is you point in all of this, do you really think we we'ren't able to get a better than a second grade winger for 20 mil or a player who has better perspectives than henderson 16 mil or did we even need another CM? or buy a better player than a 35 mil lump who was injured, and only played well once, not even mention adam he was the most unnecessary buy in the history of liverpool, and hopefully will be out of the door as soon as, btw enrique was needed, bellamy was a great piece of business apart form that, a joke we didn't even need doni, since he wasn't given a half a chance,
jones can sit on the bench as well

    ReplyDelete
  76. Good team, weak depth and three bags full. Why did Rafa get rid of players like Bellamy, Crouch, Arbeloa, Alonso, Risse, Garcia and Keane...

We can argue till we are blue in the face mate. Excuses for Rafa after six seasons will never stop yet there are those who stab Kenny in the back after returning as manager for only 1 1 /2 seasons. Pathetic.

If Rafa had six blinking seasons in charge (given time) then why should Kenny not be given the same amount of time to have a go at winning the league again?

    ReplyDelete
  77. you know why we have the worst conversion rate? becuase we don't have a player who can pass in the final third, means we're not able to outplay defences, and have problems creating clear cut chances, we had raul and aqua who were able do do it, they're gone and we are left with whatever we bought, last season when kenny took over we had no problems, we have a player who can pass in the last third and that is maxi he showed that in stoke's game, but god knows what he has to do to get a game

    ReplyDelete
  78. You are missing the point completely or maybe you just do not understand?

We have the worst conversion from chances rate in the league i.e. crating goals scoring chances but nobody on the end to put the ball in the back of the net. If we did not have a player who can pass in the final third this season then we would not have the worst conversion rate in the league. Not so?

We have been unable to score which has been the problem if you have not noticed...

    ReplyDelete
  79. Every team can cry ifs and buts .....wigan are bottom and their conversion rate is similar to us...bolton blackburn and qpr goal not given can cry about if onlys ....

We have a manager who is stuck 30 yrs back.....signs players by reading comments of fergie

Of the 19 other managers....kk is pound for pound the worst manager in the league along side mancini but at least mancini has signed top quality...just can't get the best out of them

i would take any manager in the prem league to be our manager apart from mancini..fergie..woy and the guy from wolves

......in times of desperation anything will do........

    ReplyDelete
  80. Lets put it into perspective.

How many times has Downing hit the woodwork this season. I am sure atleast 3 times.
Problem = Conversion rate of chances.

Downing putting in the perfect cross to Carroll only for the ball to hit the woodwork atleast 3 times this season. Problem = Conversion rate of chances.

Penalties missed. Adam, Kuyt and Suarez. Problem = you guessed it.

How many other players from our squad have missed clear cut chances created? Suarez has been a big culprit this season = Problem = conversion rate of chances.

Have we created clear cut chances without Maxi playing. Definitely yes = loads of them = problem = conversion rate of chances.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Mancini has signed top quality? Maybe but out of the CL, FA cup and Carling cup and now the Europa shows that quality does not always cut the mustard.

If City do not win the league this season then Mancini will be on his merry way...

Liverpool have not won the league for 22 years. Are you that bloody blind to see it. We were once in the 80's the most feared team in the world. It started with Shankly to Paisley to Fagan to Dalglish and after that we have fallen behind on a large scale season after season and to fix the problem is not going to take 1 1/2 years I am afraid.

You would take another manager apart from those mentioned in the EPL at the moment to manage LFC. Quite honestly, LFC is the most enormous job to take on and Mark Hughes would make a complete and utter balls up of this club.

Dream on, Kenny will be given time. No go and do your crying elsewhere.

  82. Talking about passing......isn't it a coincidence that as soon as the Blackpool ALONSO (Adam) gets kicked out we start scoring and winning

    ReplyDelete

  84. Adam has started in 26 of all of our 28 matches and 1 as a sub in the EPL which has seen him take part in 27 out of the 28 matches so that blows your conclusion out of the water which means he has played in basically all our EPL matches this season. Sorry to disappoint you but you are clutching at straws.

    ReplyDelete
  85. My point exactly that the Blackpool ALONSO has played in 27 games and we are in a pathetic state and he is a major contributer to the problem.....not hard to see....he can't pass...shoot...tackle and if you've noticed they've even stopped him from taking corners as well ...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Why do people keep talking about the money? Beadsley cost £1.9 million in 1987. In today's money thats around 4 to 5 million quid. Barnes cost 900K, thats a max of £2mill today. Can you imagine buying a plyer of BArnes quality for £2million now, LOL!! We knowHenderson is not worth 20 million, its INFLATED PRICES.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Aquilani wanted go back to Italy. We payed 20mil for him and now Milan have to buy him for 5.2mil when he has played another 3 matches for them.

Aquilani and his Agent were very business wise when they came up with a deal like this as Milan were not willing to pay the fee we requested. If Aquialni wanted to stay then why in our (LFC) right minds would we want to make a loss of 14.8mil on a player who hardly even set foot on a pitch even while Rafa was still in charge? We had no option but to accept the wishes of Milan, Aquilani and his agent otherwise we would have a player that is not happy in England and would have chewed up our wage bill. We have counted our losses and move on.

  89. Mali341

Regarding our descussion about Charlie Adam.

Top 5 succesfull tacklers in the LFC squad.
    1. Lucas - 52
    2. Enrique - 46
    3. Adam - 43
    4. Skrtel - 31
    5. Henderson - 30

    Charlie cannot tackle myth DEBUNKED.

Top 5 players for assists in LFC squad
    1. Adam - 7
    2. Suarez - 4
    3. Kuyt - 3
    4. Enrique - 2
    5. Bellamy - 2

Passing accuracy for the entire 1st team Liverpool squad is at 80.7%

Charlie Adam has a individual accuracy of 76.9% and he definitely tries a much more difficult pass than that of Maxi who has no assists at all, passes very short and cannot cross to save his life as he never attempts any crosses...

Charlie Adam cannot pass myth DEBUNKED.

Any more drivel you would like to add Mali341?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yes, iam asking the question because IF Kenny is making certain important decisions off his own back and has not received advice from anyone......then i think he has made some serious blunders this season tbh, blunders that Roy Hodgson would have been hung drawn and quatered for.....

It is a genuine question, out of a genuine interest, i have no idea how well connected Rafa is to Kenny, whether they remain good friends or not or whether indeed they were ever good friends, IF they are/were then is it really so far out to suggest that Rafa might have played a hand in ill advising KD? Afterall he  (Rafa) ids still very much on Merseyside twidling his thumbs is he not with a keen interest in how things pan out for Kenny?

Obviously Kenny knows a fair deal about the Club and was brought back as ambassador with Rafa's blessings during Rafa's time at the Club, there was a reason that Kenny was not given the managerial role when Rafa departed, that reason i think is because the owners were aware of the connection between them and how Rafa might manipulate the situation.....

Hodgson had no chance as manager because Kenny threw his name in the hat and the fans were aware of that....many fans didn't want Roy at all and didn't want him to succeed either, i think certain players also didn't want him to succeed also, doomed from the start, Torres (along with others) was clearly underperforming like he has been at Chelsea....and the situation became unworkable, the fans were by now abusing Roy at every opportunity and wanted him out, calling for Kenny......

I guess the owners had no choice but to try and get rid of Torres, get rid of Roy and bring in Kenny, even though the might have known how risky it could be...........

But that was what the fans wanted all along because Kenny had let them know that he would take the job to "help" us out......now we have many fans calling for Rafa to come back because Kenny HAS made some blunders........

Forgive me for sounding a little conspiratorial an all.....but it is kinda conveniently making Rafa somehow look good? and Kenny look kinda a bit deluded at times and out of touch.......?

Thats why i asked the question, because if Kenny is going to be judged at the end of the season in terms of league results and position etc then i think he should be replaced as manager like Hodgson and Rafa were......even though Roy took us quite far in the Europa and could have gone on to win some silverware too....

    ReplyDelete

  96. The fact that you would ask a question whether Rafa gave Kenny advice on whatever it may be is a plain joke.

Why on earth would Kenny need Rafa's advice and on what exactly? Answer the question.

By the by, FSG did state they never wanted to get rid of Roy but had no choice otherwise FSG would also have an American flag burning with their faces on it. Luckily for FSG, Kenny is a legend and someone that can take the club back to its former glory days as we were while Kenny was in charge the first time round. Kenny does not need advice from Rafa otherwise Rafa would be his assistant and that I am afraid will not happen either.

Rafa had his days and those days are gone and will never return again FULL STOP end of the story.

  105. I think you are slightly misunderstanding my stance re Rafa....im not a fan of his....i don't want to see him back at the Club, ever....

Kenny has my backing, though tbh this season has been riddled with problems of underperformances, lack of goals....lack of any winning momentum....lack of player fluidity and understanding....and a lack consitency in player form....

That coupled with the disastrously handled Suarez/Evra affair has fopr sure tested my patience, like im sure it has many other fans.....

Kennys comments are not helping IMO, they seem to smack of a stubborn denial to accept the reality of our current situation....

So, once again i ask is Kenny/has Kenny been ill advised???

Because IF he hasn't then im quite concerned about our future under him tbh....

  106. go away!! cuz from where i stood!! you don't sound like an LFC fan to me!! i don't know why you so intent of putting such stupid comments on here!! Torres had made his mind up about leaving, long before kenny came, and the whole team knew it!! hence, the comments made, about playing with someone, who clearely did not want to be at the club!! Raul, played a few decent games for us, but, on the other hand, he went missing, in just as many, then when he tried to hold us to ransom, and he dint get what he wanted, he left!! to go Chelsea, with Torres, where, they have done naff all!!

  114. mainstream media brainwashed your mind that's what i have to say, if you read everything carefully what has been happening around aquilani and looked at dalglish's transfers ie. 2 cm's adam and henderson you would see that  he didn't see a place for aqua from the start and he stated that when alberto left, so it is his fault that he did so, if he told him that he is needed an he sees a place for him his manager wouldn't go around speaking to clubs, easy enough.

    ReplyDelete
  115. yep now attack raul, at the end of the day you have adam and henderson, oh and they are much better hope you're proud of those transfer dealings, i feel sorry for you, i would take raul in a heart beat and sold those two to west ham that's where their place is

  116. Good post, though i think what this shows us is how POOR our team has been this seaon....and i don't mean that as a dig against Adam, it just goes to show how we have lacked COHESION in the side....

It could be argued, that with Adam in the side other players have underperformed? Why that is though is as always up for debate, but the shape of the side has looked better since he was benched, and where/how would you play Adam now Gerrard is back and looking fit?

Contrary to what a lot of people think Adam is not the useless waste of space that he is being portayed as by many fans on most forums.....you put a good case for the lad but some of his performances have been truly woeful and clearly he is being judged on those performances and not the better one's....

  119. you've got bad conversion because we whip in crosses all the time, blindly, most open chances come, from passes in the final third, crosses can be supplementary and create additional danger, so far we have had chances and bad conversion, yes but if you look what kind of chances they were you might see that the whole defence was in the box, which makes it very hard for anyone to squeeze the ball between them and the goalkeeper nevertheless put it in the net, a clever pass in the last third, leaves the defender for dead and gives the striker/winger open road to the goal with usually only one defender and goalkeeper in his way, the chances of him scoring rise immensely, i've only seen that once this season when we played  with Oldham adam was passing, and we scored, we've never done that during a league game. nobody is cleverly passing in the final third, i.e not many clear chances

    ReplyDelete
  120. what adam does is create gaps, because he is not tracking back, all the donkey work was done by lucas, since he is injured nobody has been doing that effectively, maybe sometimes Kyut, adam has left the defence and the fullbacks especially johnson who is often bombing forward exposed, adam is a liability he has no idea what team play is, plus he is lazy and selfish if you haven't noticed that watch his movement during most games

  127. I know one games doesn't really cut the mustard but that game really wound me up about Adam. That game against Bolton was one of the most woeful performances I have ever seen from a player at a 'top club', in relation to using the ball in central midfield. Adam's pass completion was dreadful, something below 60% I recall. Wayward hollywood balls and even getting simple passes so badly wrong. He couldn't even do the 'safe' options right many times.

Out of curiousity, how many of those Adam assists were from set pieces? He takes plenty corners for us, so just wondering. His best bit of creativity from open play, usually comes from when he drifts to left to put in a cross which he is pretty handy at but this of course leaves space in the middle, one of the reasons why I don't rate him highly in a two-man central midfield. The same with Gerrard too.Maxi hasn't exactly had a proper run in the side this season, unlike Adam. Last season Maxi got 10 league goals in 24 starts and 4 sub appearances. Around 1 in 3, pretty good going for a midfielder

    ReplyDelete
  128. Maxi has no assists in the EPL which is what I was referring to. He only has 2 goals from the EPL.

All the above stats are from the EPL. Adam does have 7 assists in 26 EPL starts, 1 sub = 27 mathces played. OPTA stats do not lie.

  129. you still haven;t proven that he tracks back and doesn't leave the team exposed to counter attack, his assists include his wonky shots that 2 own goals came, still that doesn't make him a lfc standard player, he has proven time in time again that his tackles when he is close are ok, but mostly he barges into people sometimes he gets away with it sometimes he doesn't, it's not about trying a difficult pass but to try a clever pass, and his passing doesn;t equal the tempo of the game, it doesn't generate momentum for the attack, his assists mostly came when he was crossing not when he was unlocking defences with his hollywood passes, so you're statistics show only a snipet and try to hide away that he is a git and he is not good enough, alonso didn't have many assists but he could start play very well, maxi's first pass and one two's is a thing that unlocks defences, not hollywood passes

  130. Aquilani was used in preseason wasn't he? If Kenny did not him to be part of the squad then would he have risked him getting injured by playing in preseason? Kenny came out and said he was a Liverpool player.

"We have been delighted with him in pre-season and we are delighted to have him
    as part of the squad."

There was also the video where Aquilani and Comolli were having an argument about his loan move. Aquilani wanted to go back to Italy. He even admited that Milan has always been his dream.

Think about it please. If we wanted to sell Aquilani THEN we would atleast want to make most of our money back. Juve were going to sign him for much more than what Milan are paying us. When Juve jumped ship on Aquilani he had to come back to England. Then his agent went soul searching and Milan came along.

Why on earth would we want Aquilani to go at such a big loss?

"There is a buyout fee set at €6 million and it is activated after 25 games," he (Aquilani)stated to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I feel more assured. You can never say no to Milan. I have always had the hope of becoming a Rossoneri player.""I did not expect to be bought by Juventus, the price set by Liverpool [€16 million] was too high. Juve was an opportunity and I have used it well.

Why was the 16mil pricetag to high, is what I would like to ask Aquilani? Did we not pay 20mil for him?

When Juve loaned Aquilani they had the oppertunity to buy him for 16mil. After his loan spell ended Juve said thanks but no thanks.

Aquilani's agent is one of the biggest snakes around and he held a gun to our heads. We had no choice but to agree with the fee that Milan offered in the buy out clause. Why on earth would we actually want to make such a big loss on a player = Aquilani wanted to go back to Italy and we had to accept Milan's terms.

Is Aquilani only worth 6mil. Ah, only to Milan and Aquilani's agent that is.

  131. I support LFC mate I have done since the back end of the shankly days through paisley fagen KD Roy Evans etc etc etc I also supported them when Hodgson was manager its just that he wasnt very good was he !!!!!!! the job was too big for him. But you havent answered my question if newcastle are so good why dont you supprt them thay would welcome you with open arms

    ReplyDelete
  132. like we are this year you mean

    ReplyDelete
  133. again mali you havent answered my question what is it that you dont understand

    ReplyDelete
  134. well from what i've read, btw tried to check out that video, unfortunately has been taken down. What they told aqua was that they cannot offer him a lot playing time, they want him in the centre, but they already have Gerrard there. that's what comolli said when aqua left. so true they wanted to keep him but on the other hand the sahpe of midfield they imagined was lucas adam and gerrad, so i guess they weren't very flexible in their negotiations, had no perspective, because gerrard hasn't played consistently till right about now plus they want to accommodate carroll and suarez in the same team. TBH if they guaranteed him plenty of game time he wouldn't get less than in Milan at the moment i think

    ReplyDelete
  135. Well said, and no one has the right to tell you to support someone else because you have an opinion, there is something a bit fascist about that attitude.

And Newcastle have done a better job than us in the transfer market. The fact that people will not accept that shows that they will have an excuse no matter how bad we get.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Kenny's not very good, either, so why should he support newcastle if you were supporting Liverpool when Hodgson was here? (despite him not being very good)

This job appears to be too big for Kenny also.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Again, Alan Pardew, how come his cheaper team is 'gelling' better and faster than ours?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Well, it is never Liverpool, is it?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Who has been our creative force this season?

    ReplyDelete
  140. So who has been the player that has been doing it for us? Creating all these chances?

    ReplyDelete
  141. Agreed.

I'm astounded by the number of supporters who think that the investment in the team means that being in amongst the second tier of premier league clubs, Newcastle, Sunderland, Stoke, WBA, Fulham. Is ok. On another thread, someone said that it is not a top 4 anymore, it is a top 6. But, guess what, we are 7th. We are not much better than Stoke City, either in the league or based on meetings this season. If this is progress, then it is going to be a long, long journey and we better hope the teams above and around us start going backwards. After nearly 18 months of Dalglish, I don't expect to find that our team is slightly ahead of Stoke City. Liverpool should never be at that level and there has been enough time for a team to gel to be better than that. If Stoke make two good signings in the summer and we keep making signings like we have so far, they will be better than us next year.

Instead of people saying that anyone who is concerned should go support someone else, maybe the people who are happy with Stoke City level performances should go and support Stoke City.

  142. all good teams, unless your Barca, of course, and can pass through the eye of a needle, need quality crosses into the box! fact! look how much better man u do, when they have valencia playing, dilivering crosses into the box!! bale does it!! mind, he can do pretty much anything!!

    ReplyDelete
  143. are you just making this up as you go along?? i have never heard such codswallop, in all my time!! everyone, has followed the Aqua and his agent story, kenny wanted him to stay, his agent manouvered for a move to italy!! that.. as i said earlier, is because, that's where he wants to play!! end of!! stop making things up!! it makes you look silly!!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Yet another uneducated fan, believing the Sky sports dribble, Steve Bruce laughed when an interviewer asked him whether Henderson cost 20m, More like 12m, Downing too was 18m, The only transfer that has not been a better replacement was Torres, but he was a Judas who jumped ship.

    ReplyDelete
  145. No Meireles was NOT our player of the year last season, it was Lucas, Apart from Meireles purple patch(In January) he offered very little.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Take a look at the official financial records buddy, too many people believe the crap Sky sports brandish..."Henderson 20m" Not even close.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Raul played a few good games!! fact! but, he would go missing in a lot too!! sometimes you wouldn't even know he was on the pitch!! i dint want him to go, but the wage bill had to be cut!! is that Kenny's fault too?? cuz, by myreckoning, there only on guy responsible for the amount of really poor players, on too high wages!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Sorry, but that's not correct. Guardian football writer David Conn confirmed in an interview with Tom Werner that Henderson and Downing cost 20m apiece:

    ReplyDelete
  149. What 'official financial records' are you talking about? The club accounts for 2011 have not even been released yet. In any event, as I showed in a previous comment, Henderson and Downing both cost 20m each.

    ReplyDelete
  150. god! i cant belive i keep having to explain these somple things to you!! i thought you followed this team?? we bought suarez , to play with torres, on the hope that a decent signing, partener, would make him c hange his mind and stay!! as he said, players were promised, one of the reasons he left!! too little, too late!! if he had any b+++s, he would of stayed!! but hey, we were 50 mill better off!!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Did you even watch those games??? Didnt think so.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Haha youre only £17m off.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Please provide evidence to show:

    a) LFC's plan was to buy Suarez to partner Torres
    b) Suarez was signed to persuade Torres to stay.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Whose playing the better football?? Erm Liverpool by a country mile, did you see Newcastle last week? They had 2 shots in the entire match and scored 3 goals, work that out.

    ReplyDelete
  155. the lad knows absoloubty nish, about football!! however, what he does know a lot about, is making himself look like a fool!!

    ReplyDelete
  156. the lad knows nothing about football!! what he does know a lot about, is making himself look like a very silly person!!

  157. quoting alan pardew, is not a come bk!! it takes time!! do you agree with this?

    ReplyDelete
  158. what do you want me to do?? pull a bit of paper out of my back pocket, that has all this info on it?? or would you rather me make it up, as i go along, a little like you, and your evil minions!! am looking for some bk up here!! torres was promised, that there was going to be some star signings, when none came, he said promises had been broken!! people hoped that the signing of suarez, would pursuede him to stay!! alas, the rest is history!!

    ReplyDelete
  159. Evidently, it takes less time, and/or money, if you are Alan Pardew, Brendan Rodgers, Martin O Neill, Martin Jol, David Moyes, Paul Lambert, even ROY HODGSON! Do you agree that these teams will also be trying to progress and that some of them are getting a little too close for comfort? What do you think they will be doing when our great leap forward takes place?

Looking at the bigger picture sometimes involves recognising that everyone else is not always standing still while we are admiring ourselves and slapping ourselves on the back. Remember the Golden Generation for England? Oh, those Spaniards were clearly doing nothing while we counted how many trophies we would be contesting. Times change and other people are moving on as well, and if you stand still you get overtaken. There is, quite frankly, nothing that suggests that we are moving forward any quicker than these teams who are behind us. In fact, all evidence suggests that they are closing in on us fast. What makes you so sure that they will not keep progressing while we try to justify poor tactics and poor signings?

    ReplyDelete
  160. whereas you know it all eh(!)

    ReplyDelete
  161. Conclusive proof please, Mr 'Disagree with me, I will label you as someone who doesn't know anything about football'

    ReplyDelete
  162. many times you hear team owners saying they are happy with the managers but they still fire them.

    ReplyDelete
  163. No they didnt.

    ReplyDelete
  164. That link you posted does not confirm that Downing and Henderson cost £20m a piece,  It merely has the writer of the articles opinion on what he believes they cost.

    ReplyDelete
  165. You have ZERO football knowledge.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I have never read the articles on this site before, and now I'm sorry i did.If you are all knowledgeable LFC fans then WHY(not all of you) continually smear the clubs name in the dirt?.. I personally feel that some of you who are posting these comments are NOT real Liverpool fans, but the kind who jump on the bandwagon when things are running well and then run the club down when it hits hard times...I as Liverpool fan for over 40 yrs have seen the good and the bad times..but the good times far outweigh the bad.since 1993 (that's when football was invented according to the MUFC Fans) the trophy haul for the so called top 4 is Chelsea (11) Arsenal (9) LFC (8)..now i have not added MUFC for obvious reasons(but i can go back from 1974 for any MUFC fans but i warn you you'll be upset).. now i know that's not great but LFC haven't done to bad? Would you swap all the great finals of Istanbul Germany and Millennium stadium to finish fourth year after year and win nothing? I wouldn't... Now lets get behind our Manager and fight the cause.
