Chairman confirms: £3m LFC target will probably move to Man United...

Crystal Palace youngster Nathaniel Clyne has been on Liverpool FC's radar for a few months now, but it looks like the promising defender is all set to snub Anfield and move to Manchester United instead.

Clyne has made over 100 appearances for Palace since breaking into the first team and won the club’s Player of the Year award in 2011.

The £3m-rated 20-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Old Trafford and Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted that it's likely a move could take place. He told the Evening Standard:

"If there is a deal to be done with Manchester United, it would be hard to stand in the kid's way. If our young players are to leave, then at least we want them to go onto something bigger and better - and Manchester United are who they are."

Parish confirmed that Palace 'haven't agreed anything with anybody' and that he still hoped Clyne would stay at the club, but it seems like a move will happen sooner rather than later.

To be honest, I wouldn't be fussed if United won this battle; I'd much rather see Liverpool trying to snap up the best young attacking talent out there.

  1. Not surprising Manures will snatch the best becos liverpool has slackened.

  2. Well Liverscum are still going down, down down.  They 'may' attract some promising youngsters when they learn to play as a team and not a mob of individuals.

  3. no big loss, we have right backs coming out of our ears.

Wingers and a defensive midfielder, that's what we mainly need. A playmaker and another striker would be nice, but if money is tight, a right winger and someone to compete with and play alongside Lucas next season is required.

  4. Agree with ye on this attacking players is what we need

  5. Another overhyped English dross.I'm not surprised at all if Kenny pays 20 million for a championship player simply coz he's English. Kenny please go!

  11. Really like the way you collate all the
Liverpool related quotes about the football world and publish accordingly in a
literal fashion, but perhaps you can you leave off the soapbox opinions at the end?
     They don't really matter. Thanks

  12. I've considered your request, and whilst I agree that my 'soapbox opinions' don't really matter, I'm still going to include them. Sorry!

  15. Are you REALLY trying to tell mr that I cannot write a comment on this site because it isn't a Manchester United website?

Wow, whatever happened to freedom of speech?  Are you seriously saying I cannot express my thoughts, whether correct or incorrect Mate?  I thought denial of freedom of speech went out when the NAZI's were defeated in WW11 in 1945.

I am 100% sure that individuals who visit and leave comments on this website would surely agree that debate, opinion and friendly banter are welcome.

I can certainly accept criticism, after all I am 70 years young, so please RedSilver please show me the respect I show others, including you.

P.S my friendly Liverscum pseudonym was a friendly dig back to the Manure posted by boon.

Liverpool have always had good and competative teams but that doesn't stop the 'albeit friendly' rivalry between sharers of the East Lanc's Road.

Be happy, Manchester City could only draw yesterday and thereby handed "ManURE" the ascendency for this years title, however nothing is ever finished, until the fat lady sings no more.

  17. Sorry, it's just that as a Liverpool fan, I have no interest in visiting Manchester United fan, it's boring to me.

I'm quite amused actually that rival fans are so obsessed with our club! Not got anything else to do?

And how old are you out of interest? I mean 'Liverscum' is hardly the words of an intelligent human being.

  20. Manchester United are lucky! Yes you heard that right, lucky that you had your manager since 86 without a break. Stability and dedication like that form the top dog is unbeatable. What will you do without Ferguson though, I sense the fear from alot of Manchester United fans about the team under another manager.

  24. Have a look at Republik of Mancunia site and see the responses to non Man Ure fans on there before calling anyone else's fans Nazi's Jaime moderates this site and takes out the unacceptable language etc. No such pretensions on rom, anyone who doesn't toe the party line is either a troll or is just subjected to a barrage of four letter abuse.

  25. No more crap, doesn't matter if they are British or not. But more specifically start buying players that you know how to use. 35M on a forward who's strengths we ignore, another 20m on Englands first choice left sided player, played out on the right just as often. 16m on a player who's only good games are in the middle but who again gets shifted right when KD is attempting to shoehorn him into the team to justify the money spent.

    ReplyDelete
  26. why would the owners give kenny anymore money to waste. He wasted 35 mil on one player rafe did that on his sell before buy system and got 12 players wrong for 35mil.

  27. You also said come back when you've won 18! We did. We will surely call back when we win 5 as you progress towards the Championship.

  30. Hi RedSilver.

I understand your frustrations, but if you saw the number of non Manchester United visitors to United forums etc, you may agree with me it is acceptable, albeit expected.
My use of the terminology Liverscum was a deliberate attempt, by me, to generate some debate. To a small degree RedSilver my attempt has actually worked.
Not that it matters but I turn 71 this year and have supported (difference here) followed, been a fan of Manchester United since 1948 when I saw them return to Manchester Town Hall with the F.A Cup.
You mention me being an intelligent human being. I have attempted every single day of my life to learn one new thing that I did not know before. After retiring from the Fire Service I decided to go back to school and get the education I missed out on. So at 55 years of age I started our studying Sociology. A good move as I enjoyed being back at school.
Everything in our so short lives is a challenge, the most pleasant being friendly banter & reparte' with supporters and followers (fans) of other football teams AND having the pleasure of seeing the team we follow win.
    Rock On RedSilver.

    Bred Red

  34. To be honest, this is the sort of player Liverpool can hope to attract at the moment.... And still you lot are even struggling to attract this type of player.
Tsk tsk.... How the deluded Liverpool fans must be suffering :-)

No worries someone at lfc. will unearth the next Jermaine Pennant or Andy Carrol

  35. I deliberately phased my initial post to generate reparte', not initiate a 'one way speech.'

My post was all about generating discussion, fun and responses, a point I believe you may have missed RedSilver.  No matter, we sometimes read what we want to read into the written word.

  38. Oh man... You cannot believe how much I am enjoying this Liverpool defeat to Newcastle. You can sign whoever you want, your team is shite and have no heart.
A year ago, another misguided Liverpool blogger posted an article aspousing how Liverpool's squad was better than United's. That is how deluded LFC fans are. NONE of your players except Suarez and maybe Reina could make it into Man Utd's team, yet you think Spearing and Skrtl are good players
