Collymore: Mancini needs to stop the 'PATHETIC' behaviour...

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has called on Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini to stop trying to influence referees by waving imaginary cards on the touchline.

In recent weeks, Mancini has been caught on camera several times exhorting the referee to take action by waving the imaginary red card. After doing it against Liverpool, he apologised after the game, but then did it again during City's recent game with Man United.

Collymore clearly hates the practice of trying to get players sent off, and he was scathing about Mancini in his weekly column for The People. he raged:

"Roberto Mancini must cut out his pathetic card-waving antics immediately. Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has spoken out over it and I agree that the Italian needs to be stopped before this nasty disease begins to spread.

"We accept that our top-flight is multicultural and we have had the Luis Suarez incident recently, for which he is serving a punishment, but Mancini said in an interview that he may act the same way again on the touchline soon – and we don’t want to see it.

"It’s bad enough when players wave imaginary cards – if coaches start doing it, too, they will be setting a terrible example. It is going to cause problems for referees, so Mancini should apologise for what he has been doing and promise it won’t happen again".

  4. Not much worse than managers going absolutely crazy at fourth officials.

  5. It's madness, it basically accepted that managers can have a rant and rave at a 4th official. linesman or ref, but waving an imaginary card is 'unacceptable'.

They all must be outlawed or none of them.

  9. How can TV, radio and Jaimie give this man so much time when there are plenty of
respectable ex-footballers who could speak out about this with a bit of honour to back up their words!

  11. The EPL needs to take it's cue from the NBA and go for a zero tolerance in all areas...it is to the point now that if you even look at an official wrong in the NBA you will get a technical foul and a $$ fine.. once EPL players and managers see it start affecting table position and more importantly their pockets .. they will keep their traps shut.. by the same token.. lEPL eague officials need to be more open about the calls the game officials make and grade them accordingly...

  13. Mancini is a hypocrite of the highest order! Going mad at Rooney for trying to get one of his players sent off and him doing it every weekend. Don't get me wrong Rooney is a disgrace too! Be interesting if we had someone like Brian Clough still managing today, he'd most likely punch Mancini if he caught him waving the imaginary card around.

  15. I think I post the views a wide range of ex-footballers, not just Collymore. He is an ex-Liverpool player, and his views matter0 just like your views matter. Whatever happened to second chances? Should Collymore be condemned for the rest of his life for the mistakes he's made? Who are we to judge anyway; let he who has never sinned cast the first stone, and all that jazz.

  16. Why don't you attack the argument instead of the person? What has Collymore's past got to do with the points he's made?

  17. I've never sinned. Collymore is a knob.

  18. Yes I know the story! Just think there are more professional
ex-players then Collymore to pass judgement on players or managers conduct and ex-players who deserve a job first, like the ex-players he works with on Channel 5 Nevin and Houghton, should just stick to commentating on matches if he has something to say.
FA are doing nothing about it they talk about RESPECT but Mancini his showing no respect to anyone when he's waving
his card and could incite the crowd if a player is sent off when he shouldn't.

  19. shouldn't you lot be more concerned with your own situation than worrying about what a wife beating perv thinks about mancini ?

  20. what I don't get is that verbally managers probably contest every referee decision. Waving an imaginary card just makes it more view-able in terms of non-verbal communication. Might as well tell the crowd not to shout penalty! And tell them to keep quiet during a match. Setting bad examples? Ha!

  21. Absolutely irrelevant! Collymore is perfectly correct in what he says! Mancini is a pillock - he has made numerous unacceptable gestures and actions on the sidelines since he joined City!

  23. If it an imaginary card, how does one put a colour to it?

  24. Let everyone in the stadium stand with their backs to the pitch and that should reduce these "complaints"?

  25. Collymore is indeed a knob of the first order.

  26. Shut it Collymore you pissant, referee's don't pay attention to coaches and managers on the sidelines, its the third official only who have no influence on the game so put a cap in it.

  27. Harry rednapp has cricised Roberto also , he wouldn't do that .  NO! You would sooner go on television and demand that the FA  take action. Why bother with the referee when you appeal directly to the FA. Double standards from the man who tday starts to clear his name in court for the nextttwo weeks.

  28. I dont see the problem, the ref should make his decision on what he sees, not on what the players or managers are trying to influence him to do.

Managers and players who wave imaginary cards just look stupid.

They are, after all, only stating there opinion on a incident.

If the ref is influenced by this then he should not be allowed to referee games.

Football used to be a sport, to many people are trying to turn it into a soap opera.

It may be a sign of the times, but there are more reports about what goes on off the pitch, than there is about what goes on on the pitch.

Just because in some ones opinion its wrong to wave a imaginary card, we should not just follow that opinion like sheep and declare it the big sin that it is not.

  29. Mancini is a Knob!

  30. How stupid it would be if a ref sent off players just because the oppsition manager waived an imaginary card about..... isn't the ref capable of deciding for himself....
why do these so called media pundits always feel that they and only them can voice opinions... if the media dont like it then dont show it or talk about it...Simple!
Im sure they have already forgoten that incident and found something new to bi tch about.. (like stamping on players)lol

  32. Mancini is a dick!!!!!LOOOOLLLL

  33. YES HE IS WHAT A WANKER

  34. So its ok to make gesture's after a game getting a player a ban, Rednapp's actions are just as bad as Mancini's and if he had made comment on a decision in any other game he would be facing an FA charge himself.
