"Liverpool are exciting again, and it's good for everyone..."

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has transformed the club's style of play since he returned to Anfield, and according to former QPR manager Neil Warnock, Liverpool are exciting to watch again.

Speaking to ITV Sport last night, Warnock - who was sacked by QPR recently - enthused:

"Liverpool on Wednesday night against Man City and today - I think that's how Liverpool should be, when they get it, have a go and get the Kop going.

"I think they're exciting again now. I know they had problems at Bolton, but I like it when Liverpool play like that, and I think it's good for everybody, and that's why they're doing well".

Earlier this season, he insisted that former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez's decision to play a weakened side against Fulham led directly to Sheffield United's relegation in May 2011:

"I don't hold a grudge against Liverpool, but I'll never forgive Benitez for playing what wasn't even a reserve team [against] the worst team in the division.

"I'd understand it if the Champions League [Final] was the following week, but it was 18 days away. He didn't give two hoots.

"You don't ever forget things like that. I'll always remember that.

  1. Yeah I don't wanna be too positive (apparently I'm too rise tinted) but we're a lot better to watch but there's still a lot of work to be done, it would be a lot better if we where watching us smash a few more goals in, far too many nervy games for my liking where we only just finish an opponent off, or we hae a hat load of chances but don't score. Exciting for a neutral, but more frustrating fe us. I think 2 goals in two games on the trot against premiership opposition is a first for a while so as I've said before I'm hoping we've turned a corner. I'm optimistic anyway and with the Brighton draw ten surely there's reasons for optimism eh?
As for the last part I'm sure Jaimie that you wrote the line up from that day and it wasn't too weak, I believe that a manager has a squad to choose from and any 11 he picks from them he should be free to choose. Noone should get banned or punished for it as valuation on players abilities is completely open to different opinions. Benitez didn't get Sheffield United relegated, Sheffield United got Sheffield United relegated. And Warnock.

  2. Not sure what was so exciting about our play against the mancs yesterday (though I'm sure some on here will act like we gave a masterclass in attacking football! Oh the comedy). Nothing exciting about our play in that game, just simple route one stuff and our short passing game was non-existent. But, overall, we have played some decent stuff this season, even if we don't have the winning mentality to combine with the football we have shown at times.

  3. Warnock being a xenophobe again?

Up KK's British backside and anti-Rafa

  4. Yeah your right about yesterday. I'd rather us play anti football, not touch the ball much or even just play shocking an win to be honest. No point in playing good football and coming away with nothing.

  5. need goals hopefully this missing spark we need is Suarez rather than the 30 mil people want us to spend on a new striker lol. Quite clear in the summer we have Cole,Aqua and a few others to ship out free's up some space for a few quality signings.

  6. Considering the way you treat and pick on other posters on here, I won't bother to reply anymore than I already have with this post. Not worth the keystrokes, internet warrior.

  7. I just cannot understand why fans constantly have to be negative about Liverpool.  Daglish has turned this club around and got in some good players who are working hard for the club.  Downing gets slagged off, but he is a full backs dream.  He works the line really well.  Enrique is solid most of the time, Carroll has lots of potential, Adam is a great player who everyone many teams wanted but we got.  It's a bit silly when these players are still getting their first season under their belt that their own fans are so fickle as to turn on them.  Sad excuse for a football supporter the person who is blind to progress

  8. Hahahahaha, I was agreeing with you. I take it you are referring to my previous debate with 'Shellb' which I presume by the way that you write your posts is an alias of you. Haha. Look at my history and ask Jaimie I think you will find I don't pick on people. As for being an Internet warrior they are usually faceless rodents who won't back up what they say, my picture is there. Grow up.

  9. Well, I was replying to Beardo, I was actually reading various articles and this was the first I commented on.  There seems to be too much talk about the next manager of liverpool, unsatisfactory play, all the players etc.. I actually am quite excited about the way the club is.. If Liverpool got their game working against the smaller counter attacking teams we'd be in that champions league spot.  I don't know what you're talking about by he way.  So telling a grown man to grow up is a bit uncalled for.

  10. Kev my reply isn't to your post, it's to Beardo's mate. Beardo is known as Shellb on another post an we had a disagreement on it and now he is known as Beardo and givin me a bit of grief for apparently nothing, so it's HIM I'm telling to grow up. My outlook is like yours but Beardo/Shellb thinks that optimism and realism is actually 'rose tinted'. Sorry for the confusion anyway mate.

  11. yes, overall under KK - a bit more exciting to watch than the negative play during the Hodgson dark period. Still, we are far from the football ideal of possession-obsession, technical, creative, attacking game played by Barcelona; but then which team is even close?

  12. Chuckyred definitely does *not* pick on other posters. The very idea is nonsense.  Like the many other people who post here, Chucky
adds real value to the site with his views on LFC.

  13. Top man Jaimie, thankyou I appreciate that. I think someone got a little sensitive. I don't agree with some people on here and even you sometimes and if my banter does cause offence it is by no means meant to, but that's surely the beauty of free speech and debate. Thanks again.

  14. what was excitin to watch was that we didnt play very well but come away with the win :)

  15. i actually said this myself a few weeks back to someone who claimed we had had a dissapointing first half to the season and i argued that we had not and that we had made progress. the football we play now is much much better, the 'liverpool way' some might say al be it with a failure to capatilise at times. the football we play is the main factor behind andy carrolls slowness in adjusting to how we play as he has come from a team that estentially used wing play as a game plan to score goals and we use slow build play with quick passing and moving but certinaly in the last month AC has started to adjust and we are starting to see the benifits, although i still dont believe we will truely start to see the best of him till next season, mark my words next season watch that boy fly.

On a seperate note jaimie, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont blog on the utterr nonsense story of the tevez carroll swap. i mean i have heard some out landish stories in my time but that one just about takes the biscuit. sky sports are usually quite good at sorting the rubbish from the real but how they managed to miss this is beyond me, absolute and utter rubbish. Please people do not believe this story or even justify listening to any of the rumor.

  16. dont worry chucky, i get accused of being rose tinted on here all the time by what i call the doom bringers.apparently we arnt allowed to be optimistic or positive about the club we love, we all just have to accept that Liverpool Football club is simply not good enough and we should just prepare ourselves for out future life in the lower tiers of english football. keep the positivity coming mate i'll back you up all the way!!!!YNWA

  17. So every person that dares to disagree with you and criticises your aggressive style of bullying other posters will all be labelled as being 'Shelb' fella in disguise. Amusing.

Got any conclusive proof that I am this 'Shelb' fella, Chuckles?

No, disagreeing with you doesn't amount to conclusive proof.

    Amusing paranoia.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Paranoia? Read your above response to me agreeing with you. It's quite clear your that same person with your completely unprovoked attack. Sandwich short of a picnic you pal.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Haha, I don't mind that so much mate but I just have some nutter following me around on threads as different alias's and talking rubbish an calling me paranoid. (see Beardo's replies) I think he fancies me! Cheers mate. YNWA.

  20. Didn't think we played that well, myself. That Man U team was a very weakened team, which with Rooney & Nani would have battered us on Saturday's performance. However, we got the result and that's what matters... Trouble is, after we get results against the top teams, we get this delusion that we're invincible and promptly get an arse-kicking in the next game, which invariably is against a bottom three club.
    How is Warnock's spat with Benitez relevant to him praising our approach to a game?Also. it's D A L G L I S H. Christ, he's been down here now for 35 years!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Christ, so it was Rafa´s fault then. I thought that the teams that go down are because hey don´t have enough points not because other teams loose

  22. To Simple_man67.

Sorry mate but I have to disagree with you. I can't understand why you think the mancs would give us a trashing because they are missing 2 good players. If i'm not mistaken we were missing our 3 top players as well in Suarez Lucas and bellamy (The later was involved only in the last 20min due to his knee problems). With both Suarez and bellamy on the field from the off manure wouldnt have played with a high defensive line therefore having to stretch their team even further with more stray passes. That means that if Nani was playing he would have had Lucas and kelly breathing down his neck all day long. As for rooney his forte is finding space in between the lines which I think that in the form skrtel is at the moment he would have kept him quite.

    ReplyDelete
  23. oh please an arse-kicking? We only had our arses kicked 2 times the whole season as you say.

  24. Eventually someone talks some sense.

  25. I'll ask again, simply as you didn't seem to comprehend what i was asking, any conclusive proof?...If you need to look up 'conclusive', the world wide web has plenty resources by the way

  26. Oh name change again. Bored are we? Honestly mate it's a bit borin now and kind of weird. Bye.

  27. My Beardo account has been banned, so don't get too excited, Chucky, and think its somehow proof for what i was asking.

  28. I expect lots of LFC supporters were happy Evra was punished by Kuyt on Saturday.  I can not wait until it is Suarez who is punishing Evra for the over ten times comments. Come on Louis, sort him out on the field.  I expect the Mancs will be booing Louis at The Theatre of Bad Dreams.  Evra remember. What goes round comes around. It is coming round for you AGAIN very shortly.

  29. I'm quite happy to unban the account as long as you stop getting involved in petty spats. Deal?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wouldn't quite call us exciting to watch tbh. The attacking players are given a lot more freedom to play, but unfortunately none of them (barring Suarez) possess the flair, imagination or plain talent to elevate the style of play to qualify as 'exciting'.

It's a step in the right direction, but the simple fact is that we need better players in the final third

    ReplyDelete
  31. JK,

So its ok for him to accuse me of being 'shelb' but not ok for me to ask for conclusive proof?Bit like the FA this.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The way LFC play is exciting but only to a fan of BWFC...They must have been on the edge of their seats evry time Bolton attacked anticipating another goal

  34. Why are people still being so teary-eyed about Rafa being gone?

Surely we should be over that by now?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Funnily enough, my previous comments would illustrate i am not a big fan of Rafa and criticised him on here in the past (look in my history by clicking my name (5 days ago for a recent example)).

So teary-eyed I am not about Rafa :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I wonder if Suarez refers to white players or latin players skin colour when he is out on the pitch. If he does it still isn't right but you can see it is possibly "banter" coming from a nation that has a light hearted approach to the issue of race.  If Suarez focuses his use of descriptive racial remarks to just black players then we shouldn't be so quick to defend the inexcusable.

I'm waiting for white and latin players to come out and say that Suarez mentioned their skin colour also.  I suppose I'm in for a long wait..................

    ReplyDelete
  37. spot on.

Imagine if we had signed good players this summer and lavished them with the freedom so rarely given under the Houlier, Rafa and Hodgson Regimes.  Things could and should have been so different.
