Hislop: Coloccini should've been sent off for his challenge on Craig Bellamy

Liverpool's Craig Bellamy sustained a nasty cut to the eye last night after a 'challenge' from Fabricio Coloccini, and Former Newcastle goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has slammed the Argentinean stopper for what he describes as an 'intentional' elbow.

Summarising on ESPN, Hislop was incensed by Coloccini's challenge, and argued that he should've been sent off:

"I think without a shadow of a doubt, Colloccini could've and should've been sent off for his challenge on Bellamy.

"It was an intentional elbow, and it should've also been a penalty.

"It wasn't first time in the game Newcastle flirted with danger; Tiote and Cabaye could've been sent off. Cabaye's challenege on Spearing was absolutely terrible".

Earlier in the season, Hislop dismissed Liverpool's chances of finishing in the top four, arguing that fans were suffering from a 'rose-tinted glasses' perspective on what the team can achieve under Kenny Dalglish this season. However, after last night's win, he seems to be changing his tune:

"I think Liverpool staked their claim as one of the big clubs yet again. It was one of their most convincing performances of the season, even though it wasn't that thrilling".

  8. How about the foul on Spearing by Cabaye? He went from Spearings knee right down the rest of his leg ! If Spearing got sent off for winning the ball surely Cabaye should get a ban no where near the ball!

Where the hell does the Tiote thing come from and Coloccini's elbow was just the same height as Bellamy not his fault, no mention of the fact that Bellamy called Krul a Dutch Cunt is their? Bellamy should be banned

  13. All the above have become like a circus, like The Great London Circus  with the FA as the main clown, rotten to the core. Me, Ashfah loves Gerrard,

  15. ja lets try ban every Liverpool player. What a twat. Your team got beat, stop sulking on Liverpool boards.

  16. Coloccini's elbow was just at the same height as Bellamy? Should you not have typed 'as Bellamy's eye'?. Your comment is as daft as typing 'Cabaye's studs were just at the same height as Spearing's shin'. Give over! I will be very surprised if the FA take retrospective action against either player; it is just not their style. Then again, Newcatle's next game is against Man. Utd.

Happy new year to you, Jaime, and to all your readers.

  20. As a newcastle supporter I have to say that Steven Gerrard is one hell of a player, My son said some weeks ago that he thought  Gerrards return would be in time to face Newcastle, he was correct and what a return he made ,I am not a fan of Liverpool FC and I feel that Dalglish is a miserable so so but I think that they will be the team to beat next season ,especially if they keep Gerrard fit.

  21. at least you are a newcastle supporter that doesn't whine and whinge about "silly" tackles which were red card material. and yes true liverpool are the team to beat this year. YNWA

  24. Lets see if the FA deal with the 2 dodgy challenges suffered by LFC players in retrospect.

  25. It's about time someone sparked that horrible little cunt. Go Colo he knew we loved it.

  26. If the referees and FA had the courage of their conviction and the balls to stand up to the thugs who get away with cheating and stupidity, the game would be a cleaner and better game, intstead of an arena where cheating, stupidity and money win. Who ever had committed the challenges on Spearing and Bellamy should have been red carded and banned. If the ref misses it we have enough technology to spot it after the game and issue retrospctive punishment! I wonder if we will see the FA using its teeth or laying down, I know where my money is! As long as players get away with challenges we have seen in the Newcastle Liverpool game, the longer they will continue to do it! Other sports dont stand for the antics over paid prima donna football players get away with!

  27. Yes, thats right, have a go at him, instead of Bellamy for his stupidity, considering the current situation(!)

    Classy(!)
