VIDEO: The brilliance of Andy Carroll's 3-minute cameo against Chelsea...

I think many fans would admit that Andy Carroll has struggled at Anfield since his £35m move from Newcastle. Things just haven't gone according to plan, and lately, the big man has found it increasingly hard to break into Liverpool's first team.

Against Chelsea recently, Carroll was reduced to three measly minutes of pitch time, but to his credit, he still managed to deliver a mini footballing masterclass of, which clearly bodes well for the future.

Carroll's skill, movement and composure on the ball were a joy to behold, and offered a timely reminder of why Kenny Dalglish paid such a huge price for his services.

Below is an exciting clip from Carroll's 3 minute run-out against Chelsea, and as I'm sure you'll agree, it totally shatters the myth that he is a lumbering, one-paced technically-bereft lummox of a footballer:

Does it get any better than this? Sublime first tough; unmatched close control; imperious balance and technique; Zen-like composure on the ball...

If he can stretch this kind of performance over 90 minutes on a regular basis for Liverpool, the club will have one hell of a player on its hands.

£35m? On this evidence, it's a bona-fide bargain.

But seriously...

It was hard to come into a high-pressure game at such a late stage and make a difference, and it's a shame for Carroll that Liverpool are not set-up to play to his strengths. Perhaps that will change in the future, but the ideal scenario would be Carroll adapting to Liverpool's free-flowing pass and move style.

Either way, Carroll is still young, and and there's nowhere better to learn the fine arts of football than Liverpool FC.

N.B. Get over it, it's just light-hearted ribbing...

  6. Jeez, get a sense of humour; don't take everything so seriously. if you can't handle a bit of light-hearted ribbing then you must have a real hard time surviving in the real world.

  8. Despite the rather poor spelling and grammar used here, I have to say this post is rather amusing; this coming from an LFC fan as well!

  9. Poor horse... dribbles like Diego Maradona (for a horse) and gets labelled as Andy Carroll , its the tail.

  10. I agree with your bottom paragraph, it's hard to come on to any pitch in the 88th or 89th minute when your defending an have no options up front an nobody who is going to be an option. You need a feelfor the game etc, an you don't get one at that stage with the way the game was played out. I find it a little unfair, the term is 'supporters'. Theres more to come from Andy, you can see there's potential and so can Kenny, Comolli, Capello, Shearer an numerous other managers, pundits, players an ex players. Motto mention the Newcastle fans that adored him.

  11. If we sign Nathan Dyer or similar speedy winger things may change for him

  16. Ok, we get it. The Guy's crap. No amount of prayer or faith is going to change that. But why do Liverpool continue to bring it up even after positive results? Things have been negative for so long at A field that we seem to be addicted to it and these bloggers have become our suppliers. The fact is that the players and staff at the club have access to the internet the same way the fans do. Surely this kind of piece can't help.

  19. Vary true, even carrol is worst than this horse, Technically zero, Lazy Elephant scorling on the pitch without footballing knowledge. due to this guy liverpool loosed 8 point at home instead of him if liverpool would have start with current line up with its originally touch and move type football which they play at the end of last session it would have on top second.

Please don't make any further experiment with carrol instead bring any babby from under 16 to play for liverpool but for god shake don't go with carrol.

  20. Your website is a disgrace. You blatantly stole this joke and video from another website (www.reddit.com/r/soccer) and didn't even credit the clever guy who made it up.

I agree with the sentiment about carroll but for fucks sake have some class

  28. from your hate benitez days you have improved but alas you still know nothing about football. andy could sue for lack of support, stupid team mates, lazy get out ball merchants etc, these idiots are making him look bad, however his positional sense is woeful - isnt that what coahes ate for - watch maxi andy.

  29. support the lad..shame on you

  30. Seriously this has to be stopped now everybody is tired of carroll's awful displays the chelsea game showed permanently what kind of crap player he is, how on earth couldnt he just keep the ball and pass it well just for 3 minutes as the time was running out even a 10 year old kid could have done that, carroll must be sold asap in january or even loaned out somewhere we just cant see him anymore in this shirt 35m were gone and its done and dusted now just move on sell him for any price because obviously no one will buy him for 35m. again, just sign another striker this time kenny should think twice before signing him and thats it, carroll please just leave.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Come on guys, lets not insult this poor horse by comparing him to caroll...

  32. Have any of you slaggin Andy off ever played football before? And have you came on when it's already started an found it difficult to get into the rhythm of the game an get a feel for the ball? Well imagine that with 3 minutes to make an impression and all your teammates in your own half unwilling to move up the pitch an give you an option. He's got undoubted potential an some of you armchair fans sittin at home playing FIFA 2012 don't seem to have a clue, I doubt you've played the game an are too blind to notice when a players doing something good unless it's scoring or assisting. The amount of criticism levelled at Carroll is ridiculous, he's 22 has just came from a club he's been at all his life to a much bigger club, has struggle for form and fitness an is being wrote off after an injury free 5 months or so where he's struggled. But some of the comments are appalling. How many had Crouch scored at this point when he joined? None. An he played almost every game. I'm pretty sure constant criticism won't help Carroll and maybe getting some of your wishes and making him leave will come true, but you'll be part of making us lose out on 35 mil. Get behind him, 'supporters'.

  33. I blame the Ref for not checking the inflation of the ball before kick off!

  34. Blood refs - always conspiring against us!

  35. Hahaha... Jaimie.. so funny, yet so cruelly true. My tummy still hurts from laughing

  36. Just comparing your comments here to your comments about Christen Poulsen last year when you used his 3 minute cameo at Bolton to support stats that we were better with him than without him, even though we were already ahead in that game. Nice to see you being consistent

    ReplyDelete
  37. If you deliberately misrepresent my views again I will ban you. That is not what I did in the slightest, and you know it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. No I don't know. You tried to use Napoli at home and Bolton away to suggest that Liverpool were better with Poulsen than without. Against Napoli it took poulsen to go off and Gerrard to come on for us to win and against Bolton we were already ahead and playing out time when he came on. You tried to use stats out of context.

    ReplyDelete
  39. No, I used ALL of Poulsen's games as a comparison, and my argument was that Liverpool were not as bad WITH him as people were making out.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Carroll is like Torres, play to their strengths and they will bag loads of goals, dont play to their strengths and they struggle, its that simple. Carroll looked good at newcastle because they played to his strengths, Torres looked good at athletico and liverpool because the team was built around getting him in on goal.

The question is, will he be able to adapt to how liverpool play? we will know at the end of next season.

  43. Andy should be put in the reserves... either he will fill his boots and lift his game or if he fails to thrive at that level we can be sure we have a dud and should attempt to off load him

    ReplyDelete
  44. Totally agree, Stephen. It'll never happen though. Putting a 35m striker in the reserves would basically be admission of failure by KD and Comolli, and I can't see them doing that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. ANDY CAMELL ! IS A BUM.. GET RID ASAP...

Why have you removed your own comment?
Is it because you threatened to ban me?
Why can't I reply to your last comment?
    You've banned me haven't you?

    ReplyDelete
  48. As I said, people who deliberately misrepresenting my views as a way of sniping get banned. The Poulsen article was totally different to the way you tried to present it; I looked at ALL games and took an overview; you picked out one or two games and tried to use them in a way that misrepresents the point I was making. You can do that to your heart's content on other websites, but not on this one.

obviously plenty of idiots think its great, the hardcore supporters, through thick and thin........ NOT.  oh lets start taking the piss out of gerrard, hes a sick note, injury prone, well past it etc etc blah blah blah. thats wat your be on next.

  55. Ibrahimovich and Carroll are players that have the same body build. But there is one vital difference between these two players and it doesn't have anything to do with age or experience. Can anyone tell me what that is?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm sorry would you like to elaborate on this point? I'm quite unsure as to how the two points you have outlined cause the phrase 'pot, kettle, black' to arise...

  59. Every time I read an article which is in some way criticizing something at Liverpool, it always seemed to be written by this Jamie K. Are you a Liverpool fan and if you are then when will you stop writing (or stealing) articles which are synonymous of things I see and hear from other fans. We just beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Bridge and sure, I noticed that Carroll didn't do a lot in the time he was on the pitch, but why do you feel to bring attention to it? What were you expecting him to do? Come on and take on the whole Chelsea back four on his own. I really hope Carroll reaches the form myself and a lot of LFC fans know he can and then see people like you eat your words.

    ReplyDelete
  60. well said.......great (support). wats next on the negative headlines for jk??

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jaimie- can I ask, when we purchased Carroll, other than question the price tag which most did, at the time did you seriously question his ability to score goals for us?

    ReplyDelete
  62. I didn't seriously question it, no. Six months before the signing, I posted in the comments section that Carroll could potentially be a good signing, and when he signed - price tag aside - I didn't think it was a mistake. He looked a different player for Newcastle, but that was a team set-up to play to his strengths. Things are different at LFC - he clearly doesn't have the technique, game intelligence, pace or skill to make a difference, and I can't see him acquiring those any times soon.
