VIDEO: Chelsea 0-2 LFC. Goals by Maxi and Kelly, plus Carroll's penalty miss...

Liverpool have beaten Chelsea 2-0 in the Carling Cup quarter final at Stamford Bridge.

Kenny Dalglish's team should've been be 1-0 up at half time, and would've been if someone else other than Andy Carroll had taken the penalty, which represented a glorious opportunity to take the lead.

CARROLL penalty

And the goals...

MAXI GOAL to make it 1-0

MARTIN KELLY goal to make it 2-0

  2. Very constructive Hezer. He's done well in general play in my opinion. He needs a goal badly.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Done well?  He's spent about 80% of the time on the ground.

  4. your not a fan Jamie we all know that. I have reservations too and im sure kenny does support the team during 90mins

  5. i reckon we're stuck with carroll til next summer at least,we'd get fuck all for him if we sold him in january anyway.maybe a loan to a football summer camp for teens might do him some good.

  6. Maxi scores again! (also he should have taken the pen, he has a cool head that has been proven in a world cup qf shootout)

Carroll - nothing to say except he has a lot of work to do on his game. a lot

  7. And another assist for Bellamy.  4 starts - 2 goals and 2 assists.  I bet Maxi will be dropped again for the next game though.

  8. I understand why carroll wanted to take it and cant blame the lad, he just want a goal but the team comes first.

  9. Bellamy - two assists! get in

  10. Make 2 goals and 3 assists.  What a great signing.  Surely has to play every game?

  11. Agreed Harry - he is just on a money earner - not a true fan. And where are all the Henderson naysayers? - great ball to Bellamy

  12. Agreed, we played well on Sunday but missed Bellers energy and experienced craft, I think even KD will start to rethink his starting 11 now that Maxi and Bellamy have been given chances and are producing the goods. No reason they should not start our games

    Nice one Jaimie lad,

only the second time you have regurgitated someone else's joke to take the piss out of one of our own players (did the same with lucas did you, or xabi in 05-06, or kuyt over the years?)

wanna try getting behind the lad eh?

who needs the mancs with 'reds' like you - you soft plassy

  14. You should be ashamed Jaimie

  15. lots of opinion from  people who seemed to spend their time on a web site rather than watching the game. Shouldnt this article wait until the final whistle?

  16. Yes, I'm deeply ashamed. Having a sense of humour is such a heinous sin these days, and i promise to take steps to turn my life around.

  17. How is slagging the man off constructive criticism? We've paid the money, we've done the deal, all we can do is support him when he does play. Because before we are bloggers, amateur commentators and analysts we are supporters. Surely?

  18. Ronnie Whelan said Carroll played well held the ball up well and tracked back and covered plenty of ground tonight.

  19. Its called squad rotation look it up.

  20. Bellamy was on fire tonight, running like a twenty year old.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Amen Andy played well but in your humble opinion he spent 80% of the game on the floor so in effect we then beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with 10 men?

    ReplyDelete
  22. i think carrol should be played at centre back. hes way to clumsy and lacks the technique of a good centre forward.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Maxi 2 starts 2goals...lets hope he starts next game with Bellamy.

  24. freaking loser you are

  25. you are just an idiot as always you are the one lying on the ground stupid people do that all the time

  26. I hope you get a one way ticket to hell soon

  27. the problem is you don't have a sense of humour, Torres has more goals in a Chelsea shirt than you have humour

  29. TThis penalty was the defining moment for kk..i think Carroll finally took all the doubts away from kk that he made a big big mistake and kk will not give him a chance again because he'll want to get rid...a bit like Rafa and Keane situation...cut your losses asap cos it ain't gonna get any better

  30. absolutely brilliant display, standout players coates and kelly. we've got two sets of great defenders. I think spearing should be considered first choice ahead of adam as he was very energetic tonight which helps out lucas alot as they are both good at getting back and going forward whereas adam might be slightly better going forward but getting back helping defenders out he's absolutely rubbish! Also i think henderson is being wasted on the right wing, the guy's got talent for definite and is very energetic, he should play in the middle also. Bellers should play with suarez on every game and we'll be unstoppable!

  31. you sound like a disgruntled chelsea fan, oh well, hope for the best against Valencia who will open you up just like we did twice in two weeks. (apologies if I am wrong and you are a fellow LFC fan but I would hope an LFC fan would construct some form of debate so Chelsea fan you must be)

    ReplyDelete
  32. fook off yourself they need fans like you at Chelsea

  33. I am a LFC fan and the comment was supposed to be under another comment slating Carroll, it was misplaced

  37. What utter rubbish. What do you have to say about Henserson and Adam now?

All Andy needs to do is get rid of his ponytail. I think that is what is distracting him. Seriously, you need to look beyond 35mil for a change. Carroll was not bought over a season. He has not even been here a full season and he is only 22. He can score goals, he showed it at Newcastle and given time he will come good. If you had to ask me now if I would pay 50mil for Torres who is looking like the worst flop ever or rather pay 15mil less for a 22 year old who wants to play for LFC then I know who I would go for. Preparing for the future is what was taken into consideration when we signed Carroll. Let's rather sell Carroll and sign Balotelli and sit with endless problems? There is method to Kenny's madness and it is already showing the way we are playing this season. Change has finally come to Liverpool Football Club and it has been a change without a doubt for the better.

You for one were talking rubbish about Kenny from the start and look where it has got you...Absolutely nowhere.

  38. Charlie has contributed to how many goals this season? Take nothing away from Spearing but he ain't no goal scorer and neither is he a goal creator.

    ReplyDelete
  39. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT MAXI ...YES MAXI MAXI...changed your mind yet or does the hatred of Rafa not allow you to appreciate the talent.

So its rubbish to say kk for the money spent bought crappp in Carroll..Henderson and downing ...i applaud kk for signing enrique ..bellamy both bargains..

If he had spent 10 on Henderson i wouldn't have a problem..as for Carroll did chelsea say you must buy him for 35million otherwise we will not buy torres for 50million .

Yes i would rather have balotelli all day long..he might be trouble but he is talent and not a donkey ..and we would have 9more goals scored ..where would we be then..

  40. problem is newcastle isnt liverpool. In my opinion until he starts scoring goals for liverpool he hasnt shown he is a proven premier league goalscorer. Great goalscorers dont just score and perform well when the team is built around them but also when the team is not built around them.

    ReplyDelete
  41. im seriously worried about the lucas the warrior. He looked badly hurt and was stretchered off. if he out of premier league meetings defense will start to collapse. Look at pre season leaking 3 goals to much weaker opposition. Great performance by coates. Great talent

    ReplyDelete
  42. i like spearing but unless he starts drastic improvement on his game he will always be squad player. Guy is already 23 only a year younger to suarez and already 3 years older than hendo and kelly(i think 4 yrs to kelly not sure if he is 19 or 20). We might as well sell him if he doesnt improve coz no way is he getting into the team ahead of lucas

  43. I always loved Rafa's policy with regards to penalties i.e. he chose the penalty taker before each game thus meaning if they missed, the blame would be Rafa's. Fair and takes the pressure off. I'm surprised Craig Bellamy did not take it (though am not sure on his penalty record to be honest). I'm sure what with the very sad circumstances of recent days regarding Gary Speed, he would have done all he can to pay his own personal tribute in the form of a goal for his former friend, team mate and manager.

Regarding our best XI, HAS simply to be (in a 4-2-3-1 formation)

    Reina

    Johnson/Kelly Agger Skrtel Enrique

    Lucas Adam

    Maxi Gerrard Kuyt

    Suarez

  44. the one thing that has changed for me with this new era is the confidence i have in any team picked and fielded by KK. in recent years if we did field a team without our star players often enough we would get beaten. you look at last night, we fielded a very good team from our very good squad. the players played exactly the same football as we have been seeing, it was not watered down, they gave it their all and deserved the win. Henderson and carroll have all had their criticism, but what we must understand is they where apart of this team and this team won yet again at stamford bridge. something that would have been considered impossible. The best thing about this situation is we can only get better, we are playing well, winning games and we have players that are still to show us their full potential. for me this is brilliant as if they do, then liverpool may become a team that scares the shit out of everyone else.

  46. Caroll missed a penalty? Ddn't Kyut, Suarez and Gerrard  or Adams also missed. Why the big fuss.

  47. It served its purpose in the moment. My intention was always to convert the post into a highlights post.

  48. It isnt a big fuss really - but we have to be careful in situations like this.

He needs a goal, we know that but personal glory should not come in front of the team.

I would think Bellamy and Maxi where the most experienced penalty takers on the pitch (Maxi has had to deal with the pressure in a world cup qf and converted) and would have been in line to take it but Andy grabbed the ball from dowd and placed it on the spot, again I understand why he wanted to do that but if he missed and we lost then its not good that he thinks like that and also not good Jamie Carragher did not intervene.

No big deal as we got a result but his eagerness to score should be weighed up against the risk of us losing, yes strikers will be strikers and want to score but the team comes first always.

Hopefully he will get his goals this year but going forward I dont see him taking the pens!

  50. Andy Carot is a big joke of a player. He can`t even score a penalty. He looked a good, hard working, strong and promising center forward at newcastle but it should be obvious by now that he is not gonna make it at liverpool. Some of you may say that he is for the future but thats bullshit. If thats really the case then we should just loan him to a championship club until he is ready. kenny and comolli can also just accept that they made a mistake, swallow their pride and just cut their losses by selling him on the cheap in january. And why the heck are people still defending this donkey!!? He is the worst player in our squad right now and he did not even want to come to our club. He said it with his own muzzle that he was forced to come by pardrew and co when they heard that we stupidly accepted their ridiculous price tag of 35 MILLION for him! He is the only one of our new recruits that is not making any progress..Even henderson is starting to show glimpses of his potential. Reina also said it last time that caroll was the laziest in training. We should get rid of this fat and lazy donkey ASAP...

  51. What do I have to say about Maxi? What do you want me to say about him?

He was probably the only player on the field last night who did not attempt a forward pass. Don't attackers play forward? Well done to him for scoring the way he has but when it comes to providing anything else to our general play he is missing in action. There is a reason why he has been selected on only a few occasions and it is because he adds no creativity whatsover to our play. All his passes are very short, backwards, he can't cross. I believe he has not made one cross this season and last season it was pretty much the same. He does not have the pace to take on defenders as illustrated last night. He also comes off second best against defenders also as illustrated last night.

Why could Maxi not score like this while under the care of Rafa?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Does the pass he plays for his goal count as a pass forward (?)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Did Maxi have any defenders infront of him in both his goals vs Chelsea?

The answer is a plain and simple no which is exactly my point that he offers bugger all creativity unless you can tell me otherwise...

He is an attacking wide player isn't he?... but with defenders in his face it suggests otherwise... Maxi's presence in midfield is non existant.

  54. but balotelli wouldnt have signed for us would he. neither would 99% of the very top strikers in europe. Why ? because we dont have champions league to offer. So we shop in the 2nd tier. At the time of signing him every football pundit was stunned that the club had managed to sign a) a prized asset and b) a coverted player.
Despite the diatribe written on this site Carroll is getting better, he played reasonably against Chelsea. He didnt miss a pen as JK would have you believe his pen was saved by an outstanding keeper. Thats a massive difference. This post is My Opinion and I am entitled to it even if it doesnt agree with others.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Does he need to offer anything attacking when he seems to have the knack of being in the right place at the right moment, goals wins you games and he has been finishing off creative moves ever since Kenny arrived showing the others the position they need to take up to finish off the chances we have been missing.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Believe me mate, there will be a match/matches where a goalkeeper/goalkeepers will finally have a howler against us. How Downing still has not managed to get one goal is beyond me, never mind assists and Carroll not getting more then what he has is frustrating.

How many teams besides Chelsea have been exposed defensively by us in such manner where they do not have any defenders infront of their goal?

Generally teams have defended really well against us this season but Chelsea have major problems at the back. Lets see if Maxi can score against a team who parks the bus. He has difficulty even chasing a defender and lets face it, most attacking players can put the ball away with no defenders in sight and with a pin point pass to the feet...

  57. I like Downing but nothing seems to go right for him since he joined us.
